That was so fun! We cheered "WE ARE X!" over and over again until the tour bus left with Pata, Toshi, Sugizo, and Heath. What a way to say goodbye to X!

Man, yocchan! I wish I did accept that ride offer from you! (I probably would have squealed at the opportunity to go see their hotel) And I'm ballsy enough that I would have approached the band and tugged you along... Oh, well, next time..

more to come just taking a while to uplaod!! lol

Maybe I missed it but were there no flame pots on Rusty Nail (when the band kicks in after the keyboard intro)?  Theater policy perhaps?

Ahhh, that sucks.  Must of been a theater policy thing.  I was actually surprised they used them at the Paramount.

How about the "steam" pots at the beginning of X?

A future X meetup has to be in the cards! Bag of truth and all, LOL! XD

Perhaps I can regain my title. Ha ha.

And thanks for posting those articles Hypno.

Man, that was my most memorable concert going experience; by far.

I know Sykisyo. But you know what ? I was not planning to stop by at all and was supposed to go home straight. Then all the sudden I came up with the idea... Maybe if I were lucky... Yeah, next time, I used up all my luckiness though :o

In case anyone remembers seeing me, I was the white guy wearing this t-shirt... It seemed like several people noticed it cause no one else was wearing one! ^^;

http://cgi.ebay.ca/380185280534

I saw your Quebec flag btw Ice, I wanted to go talk to you but just wasn't in the mood sorry. I was still kind of depressed about losing my wallet the night just before... And 120$ in it that I was keeping to buy merchandise. And realizing it like 1 hour before it was time to leave from Montreal... ; _ ; So I tried to stay positive but I ended up only speaking to the outgoing people who initiated conversation (including some fellow Quebecois who drove all the way from Beauce... and a very energetic and cute Chinese girl near the merch boot who reminded me of Ryoko Hirosue when she was younger).

I was happy with the crowd as a whole. And the band was obviously happy too. I got scared when Yoshiki almost fell on his drums at some point near the end. I hope the next show doesn't mess up his health...

Maybe it was my mood, but I often felt like I was the only one making any noise in row J, that was weird considering the crowd was crazy at some point but around me it was super quiet, right in the center (seat 25)... o_O The girl to my right even switched seats with her boyfriend, maybe because of my frantic jumping and shouting back at Toshi... that was weird, but I guessed that she was attending the show to please her boyfriend... He did look sad as if he wanted to participate more but couldn't...

Nonetheless the show was completely worth every complication I went through to get there (sleeping on a Greyhound bus SUCKS lol).

I'm going to the NYC show though, so if you go, let's meet there, I'll have my Lollapalooza mood back most likely... :P

Art of Life

I wouldn't call that Toshi finishing the last word of the song perfectly without screaming, sorry for whoever said he did, no offense XD. I don't see why they can't just stop all instruments leaving Toshi with 3-5 second breathing space to sing "liiife" on his own, like 1993.

Everything else before that though is the best Toshi's sung it since the fake 1993 dvd modification XD.

toshi sung almost perfectly in hongkong live

Oh! I remember you! I thought your shirt rocked! I even pointed it out to Thomas (who also had a hide t-shirt on) but I think we were all too caught up with waiting for the band to arrive. Sorry to hear about your mishaps. I know I went through a whole lot of unfortunate events leading up to the concert, but I guess that's the price to see X.

Actually, I had a couple of those unenthused people in my section, but the rest of us more than made up with the screaming and jumping (it's just blasphemous not to do the X-jump!). I guess some people who were not necessarily fans came because of the hype?

I saw a whole lot of peoples from where I was sitting. I saw Ice with his flag (it looked like the security asked you to put it away?) Man, you are so lucky to have been so close! Crimson, I found you too in the concert hall, though you were all the way across the floor from me.

Yay :) I'm happy some of you remembered me, it means that I'm somewhere inside a section of your brain when X Japan is stored lol And thanks for the moments shared together, for a few hours we had one major point in common and were able to share something which has been very important in our lives... Let's face it, we have awesome taste, and being often confronted with narrow minded ideas about what's acceptable can easily make us feel like freaks. Few things can equal the feeling I had yesterday, when everyone was singing along to Endless Rain, in my personal experience.

Here's the last paragraph of an article about the Vancouver concert that I completely relate to: "When the show was over, I was satisfied with my first Jrock experience. I was watching the real fans act in two ways as they left the building. Some hung at the main doors conversing amongst friends and fellow fans, while others walked away with their heads drooped. I was fascinated by the ones who seemed either disappointed or depressed. After studying one girl for a few minutes I realized that, with her X Japan shirt, glowing keychain and Anime doll, she wasn’t depressed or disappointed at all. It was like this was the one moment she had been waiting for all her life. It was a feeling of exhausted satisfaction."

How did you feel after the show?

^^ exactly like that! I still can't believe that it happened, that I was there! But it did happen, and I WAS there! I had the chance to meet with some awesome people who share my love for X. I finally didn't have to explain why and how! We were, we are X and if that makes me a freak then so be it; I think I'm in good company!

Yea Psyence you clearly had the sickest hide t shirt out of everyone I saw! I was jealous!!

That's actually a very interesting topic you bring up. Everyone I saw exiting the theatre had either a giant smile on their faces or a gentle, vacant look of enlightenment.

On my side of the balcony there was a person who sat through the whole concert looking somewhat bored. Yet at the end he stood up and applauded rather enthusiastically. I found that to be one of the great moments from the concert!

Personally, I left with a disbelief at the 2 hours that just happened, like, shell shocked. I was completely lost in recounting everything that happened that night and remembering every minute detail that I sort of detached myself from reality for some 15 minutes before I reached union station (Upon walking into a few polls along the way).

I'm still there! In spirit anyway. I dreamed of X songs. I felt like the people around me, even if I did not even talk to them, were somehow connected to me, like we shared some sort of a secret world and were allowed to get away with it (<-- corny, I know). You just had to say "Kurenai" or "We are.." and everyone understood how you strongly and passionately you felt.

I want to bite my shyness in the arse and take over the world, just like Yoshiki!

It's not the same X Japan I felt in love with -- that was quite some time ago and *that* X Japan stood for revolt, for being a freak and breaking rules. The spirit of that time was unique, and with hide gone and given how music is today, it's almost like starting from scratch. But I love X in any incarnation and I want them to lead the rock revolution for the new generation and I almost felt that at the concert.

Ah man sorry to hear about that Psyence, you should have come to talk to me, I'm really open minded especially from fellow Québecois (comme dirais Charlebois, ça a été un Ostidshow). I was kind of shy in the beginning since there were mostly ontarian people and felt kind of alone, but once I got my flag out people started taking pictures and being very talkative. I even got interviewed by the X's camera team, I did sound like an ass, since my english isn't very good when I talk (and I was so fckin excited and nervous), so... we'll see if they publish it on any future dvd...

And nope sukisyo, security didn't say anything about the flag, but they were very strict about people getting in front of the stage, which is kinda of a bummer since I was second row and wanted to clap Toshi's hand or give Yoshiki my flag (more on this later... ;) ).

So for the little review of my adventure... (My pictures are posted on my Facebook, feel free to take a look at them, my name is Alexandre Leduc), I'll try to post the most important ones here if possible):

I got into Toronto by bus (Megabus), after a 7h drive and sore ass due to the overlong seating, I got the the side of Massey Hall where everybody was waiting for the band to come in. Talked to some people and got to see the band come rushing in from their limo. It was funny to see everybody anxious to see Yoshiki and see the door get closed and see the limo drive away, everybody was a little bummed out about that. I got to talk with Dilbot and take some pictures.

Then, in true Yoshiki fashion, the star came in with his private car right to the back of the venue and I only got to catch a glimpse of his hair...Then we got in line to enter the venue and continued to talk with Dilbot (who happens to not like Versailles... much to my disapointment...  :o  ;D haha). We saw people get interviewed by the camera crew, especially those who were dressed up or brought hide dolls. That's when I met ashtrayxx and her friends and we hung out a bit (they laughed at me during the interview... adding to the feeling of nervousness I was already having).

When we got into the venue I got to buy one of the X Hoodies. Then we got to the bar and took a shot of Jack Daniels in honor of Pata.

We then got seated and listened to Vampires Everywhere. I suppose they're good at what they're doing, but they were not my cup of tea. And then... Then... THEN... It was time for X JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN JAPAN!!!!!!! The feeling of hearing that was undescribable. Then it started... While I do think Jade is as good as Rusty Nail for the opener, the chorus was "grandiose" ("epic").

I was happy they played Drain, but it seemed like the crowd energy went down one rank... But for Kurenai... The crowd went crazy and so did I. I even happened to film it...

You can hear me yelling in the background... A lot... a whole lot... Haha.

For X... I never imagined I would ever sweat that much in a theater... I was lucky to be right next to alley so I could jump all I want. Definitely my highlight of the show. The singing in I.V. and of course Endless Rain was awesome, I do think we where a pretty good crowd.

They did made us wait and yell a whole lot before the encore... I screamed my lungs out during the WE ARE X!!! chants, I was one of the people yelling the "WE ARE" part in the front.

Yoshiki's speech was very moving.

"We've been waiting for this moment so fucking long time!!!!"

but mostly

"Also we brought hide here as well"

Who didn't shiver or held up a tear at that moment?

and finally

"WE ARE! X! WE ARE! X! WE ARE! X! WE ARE! X! WE ARE! X! WE ARE! X... I love you..." Awesomely funny.

Singing Endless Rain along with the crowd was a dream coming true... It was so beautiful... I wish we could have made a 17 min. version like on one of the live albums...

And then suddenly... ART OF LIFE!!!

The piano solo was incredible, Yoshiki was so into it... At both time when he let himself fall from his bench and hit all those piano keys... my heart sank and was filled with so much emotion... Even though they didn't play the song in its whole they did a good job starting from the piano solo. What a great way to finish the show...

After the show, we got to the same place the band entered the venue. After a while, we saw Yoshiki's private car get on the sidewalk up to the door to get him out as fast as possible. When he did get out, he got jumped on by a wave of fan, it was crazy! I managed to get to the other side of his window and he waved at me  :D He then opened his window and I gave him my flag!!! The car then drove away.

The other bandmembers got out in similar rockstar fashion and we only got to see some hair surrounded by guards pass us by (Heath did grab the hand of some fan though...).

After, ashtrayxx, her friends and myself went to a bar called Les 3 Brasseurs (The 3 Brewers, a resto-bar franchise coming from Québec  ;D) where we talked about the show and recalled the best moments.

After walking the girls to their hotel, me and the other guy, Samuel, walked around Toronto for about 3 hours since our bus was only in the morning and we didn't get any hotel room. And finally, around 5am, I got back to Toronto Coach Terminal to wait for my bus (which was departing at 7h30). Got home around 14h25 and went to work... Haha...

That's about it for my "short" review... Thanks guys! 8)

And now, like everybody, I'm roaming around Youtube collecting all the videos I can find from the show. Thanks a lot Ulquiorra for all the magnificent videos. How did you manage to catch the whole show? Did you keep your camera in your hands the whole time?

Thank for you review DemonIced and the beautiful pictures and video's!
7 hours on a bus!!! Chapeau!!!! I couldn't stand it I guess!
Looks like the concert again was full of energy like all their concerts!

Still I hope in Europe fans will be less screaming DURING the songs, I want to be able to hear the performings of the band and to hear clearly Toshi singing!
If anyone can be in contact with Toshi, please pass him this suggestion: 'before each beginning of a song, ask to the crowd to scream their lungs out; in the hope we can enjoy the music better without all those screamings'!

Also Ulquiorra, I just saw that the show you filmed was the Chicago one... I thought it was the Toronto one... Silly me...  :P Héhé, but thanks for the great bootleg!

No I wasn't at any of the shows XD I don't live in the U.S. You could say I get the videos quickly by hammering f5 on youtube every ten seconds XD. Great to hear you enjoyed the concert.

From my recent f5'ing, Rusty Nail has turned up. Sugizo's sound during the solo is different and not as good as hide's imo, but at least he plays the solo right this time, good job Sugizo.

I missed out on seeing them in Tokyo (dome tickets sold out faster than I could dial my phone >:( !!!!) so I never thought I would see them live when I moved back to Canada... =3
What an amazing show! I was so excited when Yoshiki played the piano <3 He's definitely the hardest working performer I've ever seen on stage!

Thanks to DemonIced for posting such an amazing picture of Yoshiki at his piano. I was quite a bit farther back and couldn't really take any decent photos of the show.

hah, it was awesome as soon at it started ppl from the back decided to rush up to the stage, so i just decided to join them and glad i did lol, security didnt even attempt to tell us to go back lol. Again, sry for it being so shaky and what not but i couldnt resist doing the X jump there, the energy was just SO intense!
