Title: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: magucathy on December 30, 2016, 08:46:34 PM
Hello everyone!
I am wondering how many of you are going to the London Concert in March 2017.

I am still fighting with myself if I will take the risk again and again. (suffered 2 cancelled concerts till now  :'( )
But after reading what happened with Yoshiki's show in Hong Kong yesterday... the decision is even more difficult to make.

Hi,
Kasumi and myself also are not totally sure and more then a bit sceptical, but also want to go....

when we finally decide to be there, maybe we can meet on half way and if x will not play we can have a nice little rl forum meeting and maybe a beer or two? ;)

Well Hong Hong wasn't Yoshiki's fault - for once. LOL
So at least that doesn't make a difference for me when it comes to London. But I'm already super-sceptical anyway - we didn't book anything yet and will wait as long as possible with the not-refundable flights -_-

...and it's okay not to trust them anymore, they cancelled on Europe 4 times already LOL (Thinking back, it's amazing how we trust them back then with hardly any information... But come on, if someone says 'I'll play on that date!' it would usually be trustworthy...)
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: magucathy on December 31, 2016, 12:45:19 PM
Yes, I know the HK incident was not Yoshiki's fault this time.
For me, the chance that the London concert will be cancelled is about 50%
(Considering I planned to go to 5 concerts but 2 were cancelled, so it's about 50/50  ::) )

London is just too expensive,  with the flight and hotel and meals.
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: Guruxo on December 31, 2016, 10:18:10 PM
I'm gonna go. Me and my dad aren't booking a hotel room because we only live a few hours away from London so we don't have anything to lose if it gets cancelled. However, it's already been delayed once so I think it will be a high priority for Yoshiki and the rest of X Japan so it (most likely) won't be cancelled.

edit: spelling error  ;)

Post by: Kasumi on January 01, 2017, 02:16:51 PM
I really want to go (like nb already said), but... London is really expensive. I don't want to waste so much money on something that might get cancelled. On the other hand... I want to see X before another band member dies or something. ^^° I mean Pata was close to death last year. Thankfully he is in a better condition now. So fingers crossed.

Yeah one would think like that... however, in 2015 there was a LOOOOT of promotion for Xday! Yoshiki did a press tour through all of Europe for that! For 2017, however, the only 'promotion' is a Facebook banner... I understand that he was kinda busy doing promotion for 'We are X' but pretty much ignoring Wembley coming up will certainly not help selling tickets. And it also won't convince fans to trust them enough to actually plan any trips there for the concert...
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: Kasumi on January 02, 2017, 02:25:04 PM
Well as for the tickets... they are almost sold out. We were searching for tickets yesterday and there were only 41 left.
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: AsukaMiyu on January 02, 2017, 04:30:18 PM
ô_O Where did you see that about 41 tickets? I just looked up on AXS and I can choose 6 seats next to each other in 10 blocks, which is already more than 41, and I'm pretty sure there are even more single seats...

If it was really sold that much, I'd wonder who's going there, since most x-freaks in Europe don't seem to have one...

(I'd be happy if it was almost-sold-out, I just don't think that's realistic)
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: Kasumi on January 02, 2017, 04:49:50 PM
That's intresting! I don't remeber the name of the site, but they had only a few (as I said 41) and all of them were pretty expensive. nb just said it was a site called ticketmaster.
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: nb on January 02, 2017, 04:55:29 PM
Maybe that was a little missunderstanding. 41 was the amount of pre owned tickets on stubhub
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: Kasumi on January 02, 2017, 04:58:06 PM
Okay. I forgot. Sorry.

I looked on AXS. All free seats are pretty much in the back, but whatever. I still can't find a specific number on how much are still available.

Actually, has Yoshiki mentioned about/promoted  the London concert recently?

@Guruxo, you are lucky that you live only a couple of hours away from London. In the worse case, you can still drive to London in the morning on the concert day.

@for those German fans.... na, I hope they will have a show anywhere in Germany. Any news about the possibility of another world tour?
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: AsukaMiyu on January 02, 2017, 09:00:19 PM
No mentions of anything related to X Japan playing anywhere aside of Wembley for months... And yeah he mentioned it somewhere a new weeks ago I believe. It's also still in recent press releases, which is good. LOL

Two months to go now and no promotion at all, at least compared to MSG

Same with the album

I ll be there too.  ;)

We have kept our Premium Tickets bought last year at Japan Expo in Paris.
From Paris, London is just 2h30 by Eurostar train, and a two way trip is around 100€ if you booked early.

It is right that so far there is really poor information, last year it was supposed to be X Day, maybe because in April 1986 Yoshiki founded Extasy Records, so it would have been like a 30th year celebration.
Will be my 5th X Japan concert, hope the show will be great, and better that previous one.

I still have my ticket, but I'm not booking anything in advance.
If all seems ok, I might consider making some last minute plans.

I really want to go but only need to convince my husband to fly to London with me.  ::)

Anyone got an idea what the betting odds for a cancelation are? ;) Last year the official cancelation arrived at february 3rd, so I have to wait at least untill that day has passed, before I'm gonna book my hotel and flight.
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: AsukaMiyu on January 24, 2017, 05:17:31 PM
LOL we are also still waiting... According to mentions by official accounts, it looks much better than last year. According to information about the concert (schedule, VIP ticket information, travel packages, whatever other stuff) it looks disastrous, though. No promotion or media coverage AT. ALL. -_-

That's not exactly great marketing lol ;) Postponed for 1 year, launched a documentary since and yet, no publicity whatsoever. Odd... really odd.

Post by: Matthias on January 25, 2017, 07:26:36 PM
I'm not even sure if it's only the concert or if there's a showing of the movie, too. lol

By the way, has anyone of you received their e-tickets? I'm still waiting for an email from AXS.
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: AsukaMiyu on January 25, 2017, 10:14:34 PM
I think it said that the etickets will be sent out only two weeks before the event takes place!

And yeah, posting some really boring banner doesn't really count a marketing. They can do better. But yeah, good to know that Yoshiki still remembers Xday I guess *headdesk*
Title: Re: London Concert 2017, anyone?
Post by: Kasumi on January 26, 2017, 06:37:16 AM
At least he did mention it at all! Maybe the promotion starts now... very last minute, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Edit: like this News article at least mentions the concert: http://natalie.mu/music/news/218291 (but it's actually talking about the We are X movie and soundtrack)

I think it said that the etickets will be sent out only two weeks before the event takes place!

I wonder why they are doing it that way? So if I won't have an email from them in mid-february I guess I should contact them.

If they concert takes place I'm curious what the setlist will be like. I expect it to be more of the same, but I'm really, really hoping for some variety and more songs (at least more as back in 2011 in europe).

My dad just got an email with the tickets too!  ;D  It says on the email that there is a We Are X premiere before. Is this correct? I thought it was just going to be a concert this time and last year there was meant to be a film premiere.

Regarding We are X, I suppose they just didn't update the description LOL But of course I hope that they will still show it.

Aaaand also booked flight & hotel! ^__^ Since we are staying a bit longer, we'll have a nice London vacation even if X dare to cancel again. (If they dare doing that, I'm done with them, seriously. -_-)

If it took place and you didn't go...would you feel sorry? Then you should go!!

I don't think they'll be back to Europe anytime soon (if ever) and this is for once a concert that's at least moderately appropriate for a band like X, that usually plays huge venues!

Yes, a relaunch would be pretty good.

Release the songs recorded so far immediatley and start working on and recording new material. By the end of the year you can start a proper world tour (not what we had so far) and maybe mid-2018 you can release a new record ... yeah, that's not gonna happen lol

The VIP package is definitely going to cost more than £299.00  if there's a meet & greet  ;D

Film: 6:00pm - Exclusive 60-minute Cut of "We Are X" with Deleted Scenes

Deleted Scenes. Interesting.

Wonder if they will do a preview of the NEW songs on the 'new' album, or recording the audience sining KTS again (since the album is 90% done there's room for more).

This concert is not sold out yet so I have been thinking of attending & visiting London on the side, but I can't take a leave from work. Real life priorities ::)

Did anyone else buy the VIP + ticket package? I did and have been trying to get info from the VIP company One Live Media on the specifics of the premium seats before finally selling away my current A4 seats pair, but their response time is atrocious. My last email to them was Wednesday 10 minutes after finally even receiving a response at all after a week of waiting when emailing them the day the VIP package went up, but I've yet to receive a response.

Short question. Does anyone know, if you can pay for the merchandise inside of the arena by credit card or only by cash?

The website says you can pay with contactless cards, but I don't know if we can then assume you can pay with all cards? Anyway it also says there are ATMs inside the venue, so I guess you could get cash if needed.

No I haven't. Well I have seen the merch in their online shop, but I hope they'll make some good stuff for the concert.

And not something like this

Also, I agree that the merch is VERY expensive for what it is...  £10 for wristbands?!? Are you serious?!?  :o  I'll probably only get the La Venus T-Shirt since it's the only design I really like...

I would have gone to the movie but I already saw it at SXSW and when Yoshiki came back to Austin again for a QA showing. I'm less interested in seeing it again so soon, but somewhat interested if the film showing at the event is actually somewhat different. Otherwise, I may pick up the Blu-Ray so I can show it to a few friends after we get back. Plus it was pretty cool to see my wife and I in the VIP section when they show footage from the MSG concert. ^_^

Not including La Venus, it would be nice to hear at least two new songs we have heard before.

I think they will play Hero and Beneath the Skin tomorrow...I wonder if we will be hearing some form of Angel again?

And most of my friends are busy tomorrow.  So now I have one ticket very close to the stage available. I can't be bothered to sell it at this time, just wonder if anyone here in London or UK who want to see the show and hasn't got a ticket yet, I would happy to give it away. Drain - we headbanged sooooooo hard
La Venus - sounded lovely live
Kurenai - such a fucking perfect song...
X - we screamed like mad

Yoshiki covered Queen and David Bowie on piano

Endless Rain... okay I admit it. I just say this because it's one of my favs
Art of Life - Toshi hit that last note just perfectly... and damn Toshi can sing...

Which was the new song? There was one song I haven't heard before.

And yes, Camazotz, we are x is all about yoshiki, but I watched it already last year.

Sadly but expected they played no songs from vanishing vision and jealousy (say anything didn't count)

And did you see Sugizo? He was posing like a RockStar (haha) the whole show. It was really amazing to watch him.

But is it just me who thinks they should rename the documentary to 'we are Yoshiki'?

No.

I forgot to note that some random dude in the audience really loves Yoshiki. And the overall interaction with the audience was very nice. Toshi is sooo cool and relaxed when talking. ^^

Watched the live broadcast, it was amazing! The camera angles and all that. Love that it opens with Rusty Nail and ends with Art of Life. Haven't been too fond of their new songs but they all sounded good in this concert, especially Beneath The Skin. Say Anything was a pleasant surprise (all thanks to Toshl, LOL)

Xplosion posted the official setlist on Twitter.

The cameras focused on the audiences half the time, wonder if anyone of you were filmed  ;D

Must not think twice going to their concert given the chance next time.

Watched the WOWOW broadcast, and I never thought this boring setlist would make an awesome concert like it was.

They were really powerful, their interaction with the audience was nice (I lol'd at the jokes about the album delay). Beneath the Skin and Sugizo playing Life on Mars were the highlights for me.

I had an amazing time at the concert. My neck still hurts from all the headbanging! I'm so glad I went through the trouble to get there.
Lets hope they come back to perform in London with some awesome new songs from the ¨new¨ album.

Was a really good concert. I'm not the biggest fan of some of the new songs, but when you are at the concert and experience them there (+ the stage show) I enjoyed them. Of course for me it would have been even better if they'd have played more old songs, but I'm not gonna complain. I had a lot of fun and it was the best X Japan concert I have visited. The ones in 2011 have their special place, because it were the first ones I saw, but if I had to compare them, which ones delivered more ... it would be the one in wembley.

Showing the movie before the concert was a nice idea and the transition from the movie directly to the concert was well done *thumbs up*. The merchandise wasn't that great, so I didn't buy anything.

Hello,

Just registered with the forum. Been to Wembley on Saturday - first X-show ever - and to say it was epic is too small a word!

I have been talking to some other fans there who were aware of the wowow broadcast and wanted to see this, too, to re-live the beauty of the event.

jpopsuki seems to be the only place where this is available at present, any chance someone can set up a download link or provide an invite for jpopsuki?

Would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Nicely written review, thanks! Says pretty much what I thought, too. While I criticize  when needed, I can't really find anything remotely negative to say of the whole event.
Some positive surprises though, their interactions with the audience was great, despite the size of the venue, it almost made for an intimate feeling at times.
And the banter between Yoshiki and Toshi was priceless, funny and heartwarming.

Plus, I thought Toshi's vocals were better than ever, he was in great form right until the end.

As for the blu ray on amazon, it says running time 95 minutes, I thought the film was a little longer? Wasn't the Wembley version roughly 90 minutes long?

I haven't seen the theatre version yet, so can't say.

Then again, amazon are not always accurate with things like that.

The concert was absolutely fantastic. There was this really annoying Japanese girl behind us who just kept screaming 'X' for the entire duration of the intermissions, with metronomic-like rhythm. But. because she couldn't pronounce it correctly, it just sounded like she was a big fan of eggs, and disappointed that none were sold at the venue.

As for the comments on people who were 'quiet'. I think it is totally appropriate for people to enjoy a concert in their own way. Not everyone is a raging extravert who has to let other people know they're having an amazing time.

Haha, the worst part for me is the shoulders after all those X-arms!

But WOW, what a fantastic show! I was sort of afraid that they wouldn't be as good as I'd hyped them up to be in my head. I also had this fear that because they showed the movie, the concert would be shorter. But they absolutely delivered well above my expectations!

I was crying all the way through Rusty Nail and I didn't really regain my composure until much later (finally I know how Bieber fans feel). I am not a huge fan of the new songs, so when Kurenai started I was so fucking pumped to start rocking. I had no idea that Art of Life was a thing on their recent setlists so when I heard Yoshiki start playing it I couldn't believe my ears. The Bowie tributs felt really genuine and I loved the talk between the songs. It was awesome to finally understand what they had to say on stage, after viewing so many recordings from Japanese concerts!

I noticed there were A LOT of Japanese fans at Wembley, does anyone have any idea if they had traveled there from Japan or if there's a big Japanese community in the UK?

The funny thing is... I'm usually a very quiet person as well. But if I get the opportunity (and the concert was just perfect for that) to let out all my emotions I gladly take that chance. ;-) Still that guy next to magucathy (even if he was an introvert) not even clapping his hands once is kinda creepy. But yes he is most likely physically well. :D Unlike some other people. ^^

Going to X Japan's concert is like a workout.  You don't know which muscles you have pulled until it's too late!

I am positively surprised that they have played more songs than I have expected. Maybe it's kind of a *sorry* for cancelling the concert last year?

You were not the only person who cried through the first few songs. I totally understand that emotion ran through your whole body when you saw them. Actually, the first time I saw them in Hong Kong, I could hardly believe that I was seeing them live. (I am a fan since over 28 years!) I was stunned and had some tears in my eyes.

I would say most of the Japanese fans are those die hard fans flying the whole way from Japan to see them.
in fact, I recongised a middle aged Japanese lady whom I have seen in the past 3 concerts I have been. (2 times in Hong Kong and 1 time in Berlin)

Amazing to see the show again, especially in such fantastic quality... brings back so many memories! I actually caught one of Yoshiki's drumsticks (which is sorta cool!), but another girl kind of dived in between my legs from behind and grabbed it too, so we were caught in a clinch for a short moment. However, I'm not too much for having a drumstick laying around at home, so I let her have it. ;D

Of course, as I feared, I managed to get stuck on camera too  ::) I guess that goes with sitting near the stage AND at the very edge of the block  :)

I love how all the conversations that took place on stage felt kind of... unplanned. Added a really lovely comical touch to the whole show, especially the Say Anything-incident.  ;D We Are X was great too, I had high expectations but was still impressed. At times, it felt sort of rushed, but I'm guessing that's a result from the "deleted scenes"-thing (which, as some people here noted, amusingly could be interpreted as "some scenes are deleted", haha! ;D) I'm so looking forward to see the full thing!

I agree, the onstage banter between Yoshiki and Toshi was very amusing and much of it didn't feel rehearsed at all.
Remember when they started with "Kiss The Sky"? That was hilarious. And the dialogue of them talking about the new album (99 % finished - honest...), too funny.
It felt like they were doing a talk show in the middle of the set...just great.

And probably not a consolation for others, but I, too, still have some neck and shoulder / arms pain from the repeated X - ritual and severe headbanging...
Worst of all though was a sore throat all Sunday from singing along too much. Good thing the seats left and right to me were vacant, they might have objected...

While I didn't expect to be disappointed, I had some small worries, but the whole event exceeded my expectations by far.
On every level!
Looking forward to watching the wowow broadcast coming weekend.

OK, great.  What I saw was just a very short - maybe 1 minute clip or around that.  I didn't know where that was going as in, if the whole concert was done with Teru or what.  Sorry.  Hehehe.

You know, ToshI's voice isn't quite what it used to be so this is why I was worried.

Replacing a dead member caused fans to stir up controversy, there are still fans who are mad at the inclusion of Sugizo, what do you think would happen if Toshi was replaced? :D Don't worry, Yoshiki will never do that. Toshi is THE VOICE of X japan, and exactly this is why they had to break the band up in 1997, because it was nearly impossible to find a new vocalist, all songs being arranged for Toshi's voice. I quite frankly don't like Teru or Hyde's renditions. I start itching. These songs only sound good with Toshi. :) I don't think his voice is any worse than it used to be. His vocal cords have been strained and his singing style changed, but he is pretty damn fine considering all the things he went through. I don't think there are any vocalists on this planet who sound exactly the same as 20 year olds and 50 years olds :D

Toshi's voice sounded quite a bit like Steve Perry, back in the day.  I'm not the only one who has notice this.  But I love his voice and I have much respect for him.  Very much! I won't worry, then.  I will just sit here and enjoy listening to him.  He is a true prize.  :)

Replacing dead members of any popular or well known band always causes problems.  People still want the exact same thing they are used to.  It will never be and people have to learn to move on, as difficult as that is.  It's not the same for me without hide but it is what it is.  They're still X in my book and I love them.  ;)
