I love that he posts so many pictures! :D

Hmm.....they all work fine for me....

Thanks for the report BizKiTRoAcH! I love reading all everyone's experience from the show.  The excitement from that night still feels so fresh right now.  I can't wait for them to come back!

Props to all you guys who camped out BTW! I would never have been able to pull that off. Even after a full night of sleep in a warm bed I felt exhausted enough to collapse after the show.

Sugizo / Re: Sugizo's DVD - Rise to Cosmic Dance

Gah, you guys are making me really wanna buy the DVD.  I'm not really a fan of Luna Sea (please don't kill me) but I've always loved seeing Sugizo perform. Plus I've really enjoyed the few clips I've seen of Rise to Cosmic Dance.

Albums/Singles / Re: X Japan New Album (What?)
« on: October 23, 2010, 12:44:40 AM »
Haha, we're all getting a little greedy now aren't we x) .  I suppose they can make a 80 min album if they wanted to squeeze as much X onto one CD as possible.  I just think it's unlikely is all considering how long most albums are.

Well then I guess they CAN squeeze all of Art of Life on there xD (j/k of course).

Well most of X's albums are <60 min with Dahlia at 57:37 So 54:55 should be fine I think.

At the press conference in Japan a few months ago, Yoshiki said that the Art of Life will be included in the new album.
But you know.......... its Yoshiki....lol

Really? That's disappointing.  Like many fans, AOL is my favorite X song but the thought of having people listen to it for the FIRST TIME as a edited down short version just.....doesn't sit right with me.  It's trying to get new fans but only offering 70% of X's potential.

I'd say my guess is pretty much the same as the ones you already listed minus Art of Life.  One of the best parts of that song is that it takes you on a 29 min journey with multiple layers.  I think a cut down version would be pointless, even if it's already a 100% English song. I know they included it in the NA tour setlist but I think that was more because the song's a fan favorite and they wanted to end the concert with a bang. I would probably replace it with X in all it's Japanese glory.

X JAPAN World Tour / Re: X-Japan World Tour North American Leg Round-up
« on: October 16, 2010, 11:03:21 PM »
:D All those press excerpts just make me smile.

I was and the NY show and it was completely the best concert I've ever been to.  The setlist was alright; I think I was expecting more old classics but it's understandable that they want to publicize their new material.  They hit all the big ones so I'm happy.  When the piano started up for Art of Life I nearly died.  It wasn't until someone next to me said to his friend something along the lines of "look at this girl" that i realized I was clasping my mouth with tears running down my eyes xD .  There were a lot of tears at this concert....especially with Yoshiki himself choking up so much during the encore.

Also, I don't know about the other shows, but the line for the NY show certainly gave the band a bit of publicity.  I think there was a journalist for TIME magazine interview and filming people at one point.  I think X can make it if the fans do they part as well and spread the word!

The response from the media was definitely great!  Everyone who gave X a chance LOVED them so it's a matter of whether or not they will get that chance and I'm always so bad at judging how open minded the American public is. I really wouldn't mind at all if we had little 12 y/o scenster listening to X.  If they're reaching a wider audience (no matter who that audience is) I'm happy; any type of popularity is good.  And it's not like X will ever sacrifice the music to cater to a specific demographic.  I just feel like this band DESERVES to be selling out arena's all over the world.

MORE PHOTO'S AND A REPORT!! xD At this point I'm just scavenging the internet for ways of reliving that night.....

^^^ Agreed! What's the point of going to a concert if you're just gonna sit there?

Just another article with pics:

Once again a glowing review that recognized both the performance of the band and the enthusiasm of the fans!

The show wasn't supposed to start at 7, it was doors at 7.  If it was show at seven doors would have opened at 6-ish.
The crowd surge is relatively normal as far as concerts go, so I don't really understand why those of you further up didn't expect it to happen.

Yeah, I agree.  I'm guessing many that were surprised or pissed about the crowd push/shove/elbowing haven't been in the pit much at other shows.  Enter at your own risk...

Thanks for the pictures Trunks2kawaii! Most of the ones my friend took were way blurry.

I've been in the mist of the pit at metal concerts many time before and it was nothing like this.  I actually like some pushing for the most part. Who want's a completely stagnant audience? But I could barely jump during X because everyone was so squished.  It wasn't just pushing around, loosing my balance or being headbutted occasionally; it was pure COMPRESSION to the point where people in my area couldn't even jump up and down during the more exciting bits. It just made it harder to get into the music :(

Granted the concerts I usually got to don't have as devoted a fanbase as X.  I think the problem with doing so few shows on the east coast is that though the venue can only fill so many people, they had a higher concentration of REALLY devoted fans who traveled from all over the coast to see them?

I hope that all this talk about the audience doesn't give anyone misconceptions that all of us at the NY show didn't enjoy ourselves.  I still have a lingering feeling of pure euphoria because of last night.  It's just that I didn't expect the quite SO MUCH squishing.  Thought in retrospect we should expect no less from X fans O_O

I looks like pretty much everything was covered here xD.

I got there at around noon and the line was about 1/2 a block at that point.  The funny thing was I was one of the people lined up near the "Promises, Promises" broadway show that was playing next door.  It was fun trying to explain to the theatre goers what we were waiting for xD . Waiting on line was surprisingly fun (or more fun than I thought it would be)

The show itself was amazing and everyone sounded perfect. The pushing was pretty terrible.  I don't mind a little bit of shoving about during a concert usually (it just adds to the energy) but I was literally being crushed. I felt like my pelvic bone was going to snap. At one point a guy had his elbow against my neck crushing my windpipe.  I'm sure he didn't realize he was doing it but there were a lot of moments like that which made the whole experience a little less pleasant.

I got to meet Sugizo and Pata afterward the show.
Lucky bastard! Did you wait outside the backdoor after the show? I really wanted to but had an early day at work today :(

Felt especially bad for some of the shorter members in the audience, who had a hard enough time seeing (if it all)
Thanks for your sympathy >.< .  I was on my tippy toes for a bunch of the songs and it was pretty much impossible to see during X because of all the arms in the air but I was concentrating more on jumping anyway.  I really wanted to jump and dance more during certain songs but we were packed WAY too tight. It was like...you can jump but you might not have any space on the floor to land on. A couple of my toes are swollen from being stepped on.  I was stubborn through most of the show and refused to move back but by the encore I just couldn't handle it anymore and had to move a little further back.

Yoshiki jumped into the audience once but the stage dive failed miserably.  I wasn't close enough to the action but according to my friend the audience caught him for maybe 2 sec and then DROPPED him and swarmed on top of him.  It kind of pisses me off...

I cried about 3 times during the show.  Once during Yoshiki's message to the audience, pretty much all through endless rain and again when the art of life piano solo began.  It was an incredible show and I still haven't completely shaken off the feeling of pure euphoria.

Okay, so I made a poster. It's not too big, but anyone who wants to sign is welcome to sign. (Someone can even write x-freaks if they want!) I'll bring a couple of silver sharpies. We can even sign the back if we run out of room... I'll have my hand-made hide plushie, and I'll also be dressed as him (orange shirt), complete with dark-ish pink hair. I'm a short/average height 21 year old girl. I'm also ridiculously pale, so I should be really easy to spot.

Sorry it's not very well done, I'm not good at lettering. And I can't do Japanese calligraphy... It says "X year X month X day", if you were wondering.

So where and when should we meet up? I'll have trouble accessing the forums on Sunday, since I don't have a smartphone. Anywhere's fine as long as it doesn't interfere with waiting in the line. I'm getting in that line as soon as humanly possible. (I'm thinking of trying to head somewhere near there at 3-5 in the morning...)

The poster looks awesome!!! Thanks for making it.

Two more days guys! It already feels weird thinking I'm in the same city as Yoshiki xD .

17
Three more days everyone! I'm ready to explode from excitement x)

@CharonCaori Thank you so much for offering to make the sign, even with all the trouble of lugging it on the bus. I would offer to make it but I have no sense of design at all Dx . If you do choose to make it I would love to do a meet up and sign it!

I know the new album is set for release sometime early next year, so how close is it to being complete?

[Laughs] I would say 90 percent done. We wanted to try to finish it before this North American tour was done, but we’re probably going to have to finish it afterwords.

I was really hoping they would manage to release it before Christmas because I want an excuse to get a copy for everyone I know x)

:D that's awesome darthchilli! How long did you have to wait before he came out? Did he stick around for long?

20
I'm so excited! This is gonna be the longest week of my life. And it looks like the weather here is FINALLY gonna clear up just in time for the concert. It would have sucked if everyone had to wait outside all day in the rain.

I was planning to get there at noon but I'm starting to think I might have to get there a bit earlier.  To everyone who's going to be camping there through the night have fun and be safe!

Slightly OT but if any of you campers get hungry in the middle of the night, there's an amazing chicken and rice cart located on 53rd st and 6th ave x) .

21
Thanks for the video! They all sound great, and the crowd looked like they were having a blast.

Man, when I first bought the tickets I told my self I wouldn't look at any concert spoilers but that turned out to be an impossible feat....

22
Night! I'm pretty sure it's over anyway. Gah, can't wait til I get to experience it for myself!

Good night everyone!

Good evening to you. It's 0h42 here (12h42AM) I'll try to stay up as long as I can.
History is being written... this is no time to be sleeping
Hi :) yeah, it's 12:46 AM here right now so I don't really mind staying up. I wouldn't be able to sleep anyway even if I tried!

Some preliminary pics off twitpic to liven up this thread as we wait for better quality ones tomorrow x)

ANOTHER N00B! I've been lurking for a while now as I'm trying to get myself psyched for the 10/10 show, but I figured I might as well join since there doesn't seem to many of us following the concert tonight x) .
