Title: X Japan Japan tour 2015
Post by: toshlshades on August 19, 2015, 10:24:10 AM
So it seems like X Japan are doing a tour with VIP tickets available for entry to the soundcheck etc. Thought it might be worth posting as I don't seem to remember Yoshiki or the official page posting it~ http://xjapan2015.live-vip.jp/vma/

Ticket sales page - (sales start Tuesday 25th August) http://udo.jp/Artists/Xjapan/

Seems rather short notice if it is legit lol, but then again X Japan do like to surprise people with last minute performances

December 2 (wednesday) 18: 00/19: 00 Yokohama Arena
December 3 (Thursday) 18: 00/19: 00 Yokohama Arena
December 4 (friday) 18: 00/19: 00 Yokohama Arena
December 7 (Mon) 18: 00/19: 00 Osaka Castle Hall
December 9 (Wed) 18: 00/19: 00 Marine Messe Fukuoka
December 11 (Friday) 18: 00/19: 00 Hiroshima Green Arena
December 14 (Mon) 18: 00/19: 00 NGK Hall

(My translate keeps on messing up the names of the venues etc )

Oh that's awesome, I wonder if that's the one with the Jade cover art that Yoshiki posted not long ago? i'd be interested to find out the single and album names.

A concert in December doesn't really sound short-notice... xD It's a normal timeframe for their Japan concerts. They always sell out in seconds anyway, even if it was scheduled to take place next week. :D

Anyway, I am happy that they are finally touring Japan! This was really overdue! >_<

Mh true, I guess I got too caught up in the announcement of a March concert in July  :) Yeah I'm sure the whole tour will sell out by the end of the day that they go on sale ~ It's been 20 years I think since they did an actual Japan tour so i'm happy for their fans  :D

Awesome! So glad to see the ball rolling. Hope we get an album name and tracklist in October

Really great to see Japan starting things off and when! Surprised it's happening this year tbh. Does that mean they're going to be treated to a host of new songs before the album comes out?

Of course, I'm suuuuper excited about the single in October. Gimme Gimme Gimme!

Oh that's awesome, I wonder if that's the one with the Jade cover art that Yoshiki posted not long ago? i'd be interested to find out the single and album names.

Jade was already released as a single in 2011... not sure if it was a physical release as well as digital but it was definitely already released. I can't imagine the single cover being the Jade one for that reason alone. But the Jade cover is awesome so I hope Yoshiki does the photographs for the singles and album tbh!

I'm really excited to hear what the setlist will be in the Japanese tour (hopefully it varies a bit this time). I really want to hear the new single, i wonder when preorders are out xD

Maybe they'll release Jade as a single separately or Yoshiki uploaded the pic for the fun of it :D I'm debating whether to buy the album on itunes the day before the X Day concert or if to keep it a surprise for the gig the day after.

I'm debating whether to buy the album on itunes the day before the X Day concert or if to keep it a surprise for the gig the day after.

I'm tearing into that fucker the second it drops! I've already planned to shut myself away from the world on that day so I can lock myself in a dark room and indulge. Not even kidding.

Personally I think it would be more fun to get hyped on the album and then see the live than to starve with curiosity, haha. But I guess it could also make the album more special to wait, cause then you'll have the memories of the concert while playing it for the first time

I might just have a 'new X album listening party' the day before in the hotel whilst sorting out x cosplays :D I guess we've heard about 60% of the album at least previously with songs like hero and kiss the sky so could just buy it so i know the lyrics/what to expect xD

Why because of the PV they shot? It could be Kiss The Sky since it's the one getting teased on the Wembley ad.

Yes, I would think it would be Hero as we know the studio version in a complete form, and yea they have already filmed a PV for it, whether or not they will use that footage remains to be seen...(Jade PV anyone?)

I don't think it will be Beneath The Skin because they may be too heavy to new comers and I can't see it being Kiss The Sky because that is supposedly the 11ish minute track on the album? I could be wrong though, and wouldn't mind if I was!

Either way, nice to have a date for some new material! And even though I won't be able to go, excited about the Japan concerts!!! They are hopefully going to be a warm up to a awesome year!

:)

I believe Yoshiki's health is pretty good right now. His plan is to release the album and film, tour and then do surgery in 2017. This all makes sense as he's announced Japan shows in December, Wembley in March, he's somewhat confirmed on Twitter that they will tour in the US in 2016. I think it will be a big year for them and then hopefully he recovers well from surgery.

Scarlet Love Song was the theme song to Buddha which was released in 2011. It's too late to make a single out of it imo. Even though Hero's a theme song too, it's relatively new. Plus the song on the movie was done by VUK and not X Japan.

Without You was introduced too long ago, too, and was released on The World album as a live recording. It would be best as another track on the new album instead of as a single.

Without you was on "The World" ...well a live version anyway. XD That's still more than the other songs got so far haha... :D

Anyway, I guess it will most likely be Kiss the Sky

Whoops, totally forgot to update this thread...

In the meantime, a few addictional concerts were added! The first one will take place in a tiny live house in Ishinomaki for only 150 people - and it will be streamed live on niconico! Yay!! :)

Additional dates:
November 28th: Ishinomaki Blue Resistance
December 1st: Yokohama Arena
December 15th: Nagoya Nippon Gaishi Hall

150 people for the INM show? WOW! That's hella tiny! As for the NN stream, I bet you it's gonna show a bit of it, then go to premium users. But I think that I'll try to watch a bit of it for the sake of it.

It's so small because it's a charity concert for the tsunami victims :)

Yeah it's a charity show - half of the tickt were auctioned and the other half went to locals. :)

Kurenai_Akari, niconico says that "The later half of this show will only be available for premium members." Doesn't sound that bad. And well, the premium account is really cheap and you can just cancel it before it gets extended for the month after. ;D

Yea I have done that several times to watch Toshl's live shows. And the cool thing is you can also timeshift the video, so you don't have to be free to watch the live stream, you can watch it later :)

Yeah! Sooo cool, thanks so much for the link! I'm just beginning to watch it, but it's a pity the sound is so bad(at least compared to other X lives)
*edit* Ok, I gotta admit, it's really cool to see them play in a small club. Really great. The sound mix is no too bad, either, it just sounds like a 96kbps mp3 file.
*edit 2* And Toshi sings the ballads better than ever. And when the guitar punchrd in on Endless rain - kinda rough, without overdubs, glorious. I'm happy.

This performance would have been amazing to be at...the rawness and punch of the sound is incredible compared to their larger venues. When the guitar solo began on Endless Rain I nearly died; it had so much character. Really hoping this trend continues for them on their tour. Hoping for some international dates as well after Japan.

It was nice. But something that still annoys me is that since the 2010 US tour they don't play the full song. Why, Yoshiki?

Setlist for 1st Yokohama Arena show:

Miracle SE
Jade
Weekend
Beneath the Skin
Angel (New Song)
Hero
Pata & Heath Solo
Drain
Sugizo Violin Solo
Say Anything (ToshI Acoustic Version)
Yoshiki Piano
Forever Love
Kurenai
Born to be free
X
-Again-

World Anthem SE
Rusty Nail
Endless Rain
Art of Life
Tears SE
Forever Love SE

Amazing to see a return of Weekend. Odd to see Rusty Nail near the end as it's always been more of an opener song, even after Jade. I'm eager to hear what Angel sounds like. This would be a lot better without the solos in between but I guess Yoshiki and them need a break...No Silent Jealousy but I guess Weekend makes up for it. I'm not a fan of Beneath the Skin...would much rather see Dahlia but after their last attempt in 2009...I wonder if they'll risk it again. I wonder if Art of Life was full or just 2nd movement. I'm guessing the latter.

I hope to see Week End with Sugizo, without playback.

Is nice to see changes those changes in the setlist, even Rusty Nail at the end. It is a nice ending song. And I still think Art of Life is just the second part, as usual.

Wow, that's a pretty neat set list all in all. I'm pretty surprised like the rest of you about "Rusty Nail" being at the tail end of the show, but even more more surprised over how many songs were in the set list overall (not counting the SEs). I hope they guys don't wear themselves out too much. . .

I wonder what a "full" version would sound like. It kinda feels like a strictly piano & voice song like "Aisuru Hito Yo" or "I'll Be Your Love".

There are plans for it being more than a piano&voice song since Yoshiki posted a photo of the drum score on instagram not too long ago.

When you say it sounds strictly like one though, I gotta say I agree. It just sounds so wonderful the way it is. Can't say I'm not curious about the drum score though!

Is that so? Now you've got me curious as well. I'd say that I'm fairly interested in the lyrics of "Angel" at the moment. Although I said earlier that ToshI's English has improved a lot, his accent makes it a bit hard to decipher during live shows sadly. I was trying to type down the lyrics earlier, but I gave up after a stanza or two.

I'm interested in the lyrics as well! I've been listening for hours now... Some lines are plain indecipherable. I'm hoping over the course of the next 14 days, a flood of other fan-recordings of Angel will see the light of day.

My take so far:

Where do we go, I ask myself, I ask my shadow
?
The edge of the night (?) the shade in New York City
If I could fly from skyscrapers, I'd be flying to you
Like an Angel

And I, I'd love you like there's no tomorrow
Sweet, sweet Angel
if there's a tomorrow
I'd do the same

Why do we hurt someone ?
?
Tears from the prayer have a taste of bloody-?
Wish I could bury her sorrow cause all she needed was love
Love of Angel

Till time takes away all tears and fears
I'll be your Angel
Fly across the world to see your smile

Baby you need love
Time and time again
The way you need to be
The way you need ?

Where do we go, I ask myself, I ask my shadow
?

Not super confident about that 2nd to last verse though.

Here's my take on it. Not accurate at all though.

“Where do we go?” I ask myself
I asked my shadow
Twilight is flowing
the silhouette
The edge of the night traced the shape of New York City
If I could fly from skyscrapers
I'd be flying to you
like an angel

And I, I'd love you like there's no tomorrow
Sweet, sweet angel
If there's a tomorrow, I'd do the same

Why do we hurt someone
who has cried a river?
Sometimes our love could masquerade as hate
Tears from your prayer have a taste of bloody Mary
I wish I could bury her sorrow
'cause all she needed was love
Love from angel

'Till time takes away all tears and fears
I'll be your angel
Fly across the world to see your smile

Baby, you need love
Time and time again
The way you need to be
The way you need yourself to be

“Where do we go?” I ask myself
I asked my shadow
Tears still flowing
my silhouette

Maybe. But in any case, we should probably make a topic for this song when more information becomes available.

- Art of Life was just the second half, as always lately

Was Art of life still with hide guitar tracks?
I'm surprised they play the Yokohama Arena four nights in a row! Tough schedule!

Tough enough for Yoshiki to end up in an oxygen tank -_- *points at his instagram account*

Since the first day I'm searching on Youtube, Twitter and Instagram for a video of Week End. I'm really curious.
But I only found two or three videos of X and 73659736982374 videos of that boring drum solo.

Can we just get rid of Drain please? I love it on the album but live it just...eh.

Really weird seeing I.V. that early in the set. Loving the inclusion of The Last Song.

That pic kinda. . . not so much "disturbed" me, but more like it was unnerving to see. I don't know why. Do hope that there's a small gap between shows for a decent resting period (though I doubt that Yoshiki would anyways).

So I finally found a video of Week End.

Still using hide's voice and that awful recording of Last Live with the cymbals noise. Bad, bad Yoshiki.

Actually I'm not quite sure that is Last Live playback....you can see Sugizo's playing on the screen in the back lining up with the song. I'll wait for a longer video to give Yoshiki the benefit of the doubt.

I was talking about hide's voice. You can hear the backing vocals of hide with the awful cymbal recorded every time hide's voice come in, as it does on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUMwZdGjuq4

You're right, that noisy flanging cymbal is there. Heath and Sugizo should sing that, Heath used to and Sugizo proved he can sing live on the IV intro (I'm not familiar with Luna Sea, did he sing harmonies there?)

Yes.

Audio and video are out of sync on this link, but is the only one I found. I have the DVD and it sounds awesome. Since their reunion in 2007 they are using another voice over Sugizo's, which I think that made it sound worse.

Heath and Sugizo should sing that, Heath used to...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVNc3U4H8Js
But since 2010 there is not even another mic for Heath. And they kept the hide's voice. And is weird to hear the parts where Heath used to sing with Toshi without him.

And I complain a lot.

10GB version? Where? :P

BTW, I posted a (Setlist) summary on Xplosion. While it's nice that songs like Without You showed up once, I won't have too high hopes for future live performances of it at least haha.

Have a look here -> http://www.xplosion-online.com/?p=6232
