Wondering if any of you are fans of Turkish rock/metal or has listened to Turkish rock/metal before? Some of them have a fusion sound, and characteristically Turkish way of vocalization when singing, which
could be strange to uninitiated ears. But hey, who knows, you might like them in the end.
maNga: Yalan (Lie) live at Rock N Coke festival
awesome acoustic version:
Demir Demirkan: Kahpe (Bitch)
Gripin: Durma Yagmur Durma (Don't stop, rain, keep falling)
Hayko Cepkin: Gelin olmus (You've become a bride)
(a beautiful lady among the guys
)
Şebnem Ferah: Can Kırıkları (Broken pieces of my soul)
Her voice is just incredible live, too (Sil Bastan; "Turn over a new leaf"):
A really good metal band left for the end:
Pentagram/Mezarkabul: Bir (One)
Gündüz Gece (Day and night; an adaptation of a folk song)
Pentagram is basically the X Japan of Turkish metal (if we want to compare their local fame and musical influence, and they were formed in 1986) and they also have a similar sad history, their guitarist was killed in 1993 by terrorists while serving in the Turkish army. They wrote several songs in his memory. Demir Demirkan, earlier in the above list, was a member of this band. They also similarly changed names for international release.
