What songs do you like that always seemed more underrated to you?  I personally like un-finished, that's the only song that ever actually made me cry and it's so beautiful and heart touching.
You can talk about songs that was big for its time but seemed to have died down now or a song that's always seemed to have been overlooked.  I'm looking forward to replies ^_^ we are X!!!!!!

Oooh~ I love these threads.

On-topic: I personally think that "The Last Song" an extremely underrated song  along with "Joker". I honestly can't give the reasons as to why I think that they're overrated, but it's just something that is felt, y'know?

I'd say voiceless screaming is pretty underrated although it's probably my favourite X song :) Also rose of pain seems to always be overshadowed although i'd say it's the best song on the blue blood album. Oh yeah and vanishing love too although I have no hope of ever hearing it live nowadays due to how demanding the drums are in it hehe.

I say Vanishing Love, too. I don't think they ever played it live at any Tokyo Dome gig?

The Kyoto, btw, is maybe the greatest X video I've ever seen. So raw and still fresh.

I think the day before the one on "On The Verge of Destruction" DVD, they played Vanishing Love. It was 2 or 3 days at Tokyo Dome, it was the last one that ended up recorded but I think the day(s) prior to that, they did play VL.

EDIT: They did :)
They also played Phantom of Guilt this day.

Dahlia imo is grossly underrated. Don't really see fans talking about it fsr. Maybe because it differs so widely from X's catelog? But it's so unique and intricate and it layers and builds at the same time.... excellent song. And I agree with Kurenai_Akari, The Last Song is extremely underrated. It's breathtaking, love the guitar. I also feel like Unfinished is underrated but maybe it isn't? Because every fan I run into seems to love that song but the band never plays it so, I guess it's like a neglected favorite instead of underrated.

We are not trying to keep the legacy—we are trying to move forward, so our sound is going to change. I’m ready to be criticized, for example by fans saying "you should rather be this style." I’m ready for it, I’m okay with any concept of criticism-Yoshiki

It kinda feels like every other song that -isn't- a single is underrated in it's own way. But anyways, I think another song that's totally underrated is "Weekend".

Nice topic .. as I find most of their songs are awesome

for me ..  "Rose of Pain" is underrated cause even as a fan I knew about it much later .. I think they sang it in "X Japan with Orchestra" concert only (not sure)
also "Xclamation" a great one composed by Hide and Taiji _May their souls RIP_
in addition to; Voiceless Screaming, Longing and the Last song :')

LET MY HEART TAKE IN YOUR TEARS, TAKE IN YOUR MEMORIES

Wow, I'm surprised to see that a few people also think that "The Last Song" is underrated. To be honest, I wish that they would play it more than the two times that they did a long time ago. I'd love to experience those clashing emotions that comes with the song in a close setting.

Actually they played Rose of Pain on the On the Verge of Destruction show but it wasn't kept for the DVD, which is really upsetting imo.
It's during this song that Toshi wears a moon necklace (which seems to just appear between 2 songs otherwise, because they cut Rose of Pain in the final DVD)

I think that Scars on Melody was underrated for the band itself, I really like the deeper voice Toshi uses in the beginning of the song. I prefer this version to the Dahlia's Scars.

What do you mean by "Scars on Melody"?  Is Melody a bootleg?

To continue this thread I think IV is underrated. I think it's a really strong and unique song. I was listening to it on repeat this morning and just thought, "you know, nothing else sounds like this."

You can put it into the "rock" bracket of now and past the metal X Japan used to make but what other song specifically sounds like IV? From what group? From where, from when? Unpopular opinion too, but I don't think Jade or BTBF are anything like IV or one another either.

We are not trying to keep the legacy—we are trying to move forward, so our sound is going to change. I’m ready to be criticized, for example by fans saying "you should rather be this style." I’m ready for it, I’m okay with any concept of criticism-Yoshiki

Not a bootleg but like Longing, there're two versions of this song. The title is literally "Scars on Melody".
The 2 lives from 1994 (30 & 31 December 1994 at Tokyo Dome, Aoi Yoru & Shiroi Yoru) feature both Scars on Melody and Longing (the other version). And I'm not sure but I think the Dahlia from these show is a different version as well.

Agree,

Rose of Pain, but also Kurenai.

And I really want to hear feel me tonight as a studio version.

Good that you mention it! I keep forgetting about Blue Blood, but the song is so good. And I love Alive as well.
