Although known as the founder of Japan’s biggest rock band X Japan and credited as the catalyst for the flamboyant visual kei rock sub-genre, Yoshiki is a world-renowned classically trained multi-instrumentalist/composer/musician. As one of Asia's most influential musical artists and biggest rock icons, Yoshiki has made an impressive mark within the classical genre as well. Having recently composed the 2012 Golden Globe Awards theme song, he’s also composed and performed an orchestral piece/piano concerto to commemorate the Japanese Emperor's 10th anniversary of his reign, along with the theme for the World Expo in Japan. Yoshiki’s double album Yoshiki Presents Eternal Melody remains one of Japan's top-selling classical albums. His most recent album, Yoshiki Classical sees collaborations between Yoshiki and legendary Beatles producer Sir George Martin, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra and the Quartet San Francisco. Hear Yoshiki in discussion, along with Vice President of The GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares, about his varied career and the new album, which will be released digitally worldwide on August 27.

I might listen to this at some point, thanks for the news anyway. Yes, rafaelo, thanks always for the great information you share, it is very valuable.

I noticed something in a post made on Yoshiki's facebook dated July 23:

"My dear fans! Check this out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTXATRHX8f0
‪#‎Vampire‬ will ‪#‎release‬ ‪#‎YoshikiClassical‬ very soon!
Prelude to ‪#‎Xjapan‬ ! もうすぐ ‪#‎ヨシキクラシカル‬ がリリースされるよ! Xjapanの序章みたいな感じかな!‪#‎X‬"

"Prelude to #Xjapan" - I am not usually one to interpret things deeply, but do you think with this release he is testing the waters to see what kind of reception an X Japan release would get on a worldwide scale? Meaning an EP or an album as opposed to a single track release?

Surprisingly, this is turning out to be entertaining. As much as Yoshiki is freakin ADD, annoyingly so, it was at least sincere and he appeared to be in a great mood. Not answering questions much but it's still probably the most I've ever heard him talk in english and I thought it was kind of interesting how they briefly talked about X's early debuts in elementary school.

edit: hmm I very much enjoy the randomness of the thing. Pretty cool, feels natural and honest as opposed to a well prepared marketing stunt.

LOL XD

And yea, I thought the interview section was quite good. The only thing I found really annoying was that the interviewer several times cut Yoshiki's answers short so he wasn't given time to answer people's questions properly or at all.

And I agree, the unorgainsed feel of the event made it feel as if it really was something for his fans and not just a marketing stunt to get some sales.

Find it interesting that he mentioned he was working on the next chapter of AoL! Although I don't expect it to see the light of day for a very long time, nice to hear from Yoshiki himself about it.

As a side note, Yoshiki Classical has appeared on the US iTunes store and is now available for purchase. It is yet to come up on the iTunes Japan. Yoshiki's attorney was present at the concert and mentioned something like Yoshiki had not yet signed the contract for the international release. So I am assuming it's either this or just a delay with iTunes that is keeping it from other iTunes stores...

ALSO! Is there going to be different tracklists for the different releases? On the teaser trailer, the tracklist seems as follows:

1) Miracle
2) Seize the Light
3) Golden Globe Theme
4) Tears
5) Red Christmas
6) Rosa
7) Anniversary
8) Forever Love
9) I'll Be Your Love
10) Amethyst
11) Golden Globe Theme

Whereas iTunes US has:

1) Miracle
2) Red Christmas
3) Seize the Light
4) Golden Globe Theme
5) Tears
6) Anniversary
7) Forever Love
8) I'll Be Your Love
9) Amethyst
10) Say Anything
11) Golden Globe Theme

And CDJapan has the physical release tracklist as:

1) Miracle
2) Seize the Light
3) Golden Globe Theme
4) Tears
5) Red Christmas
6) Anniversary
7) Forever Love
8) I'll Be Your Love
9) Amethyst
10) The Last Song
11) Golden Globe Theme

I had trouble deciding whether to order from either CDJapan or YesAsia.  I ended up preordering from the latter because of the cheaper price.  But now I see there's a slight difference in the tracklists depending where you buy it from O_O *confused*

Hmmm, interesting. I would have thought that since YesAsia are selling the Japanese version, it would have the same tracklist as CDJapan and HMV.co.jp...I'm kind of wondering if these sites were given unconfirmed tracklists by the record label and that the tracklist appearing on the US iTunes version is the final one? I don't see why Yoshiki would release regional differences in tracklistings for a classical album...
