I thought "ignore user" was an inbuilt function of phpBB but since I haven't found it on this board, I'd like to suggest the add on of a modification that allows users to ignore other users' posts.

There is an existing mod - including install instructions (I checked) - available for this here:

http://www.crescendo.net/software/phpbb-ignore/

I think it would make life much simpler all around of such a function would be available on the board.

Well I guess I could install it, but the link is for phpBB v2.0.6-2.0.10, but we use v2.0.17 atm. I'll try to find a version that works with our forum tho.

This is my administrator color.

I think you might find that somewhere in here:

http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=24052

Or at least could ask about it there.

I disagree. If I find someone consistently annoying, I would prefer to be able to put him or her on ignore, instead of getting so irritated I want to stop visiting the forum. Especially when the person in question only posts useless spam or other stuff that's not really of value in regards to content.

Furthermore, that everybody is entitled to their opinion does not, IMO, mean that anyone should be forced to listen to everybody else's opinion. And that a feature exists doesn't mean you have to use it.

Plus, I also thought it would suit some people who might want to put ME on ignore.

I'm ok with the ignoring option EXCEPT for mods, those have, after all, to keep the forum clean and be prepared to delete /close threads and posts.  :P

Anyone but ferret: read my answer at your own risk; some might find it offensive.

How very good then that I don't believe in that in the first place! Strikes FIRST, too. :P

And ferrety, you do realize we are spamming this thread to death, don't you! And I'm blaming YOU for it, too. :P
