So we've already done the 'X Japan New Album (When?)', it's time to do the 'X Japan New Album (What?)'. I don't think that anyone has done this topic yet. What do you think the new album will consist of? Here's what we know for sure so far:

1. Kurenai (re-recording)
2. Rusty Nail (re-recording)
3. Jade (New)
4. Born to Be Free (New)
5. I.V. (New-ish)
6. ?????

Here's where we come in. What do you think the new album will consist of? Yoshiki has made it known that the new album will be 50% new and 50% old. Here's my best guess of what the new album will be based on the concerts so far.

1. Kurenai (re-recording)
2. Rusty Nail (re-recording)
3. Jade (New)
4. Born to Be Free (New)
5. I.V. (New-ish)
6. Tears (re-recording)
7. Art of Life (re-recording radio edit version)
8. Silent Jealousy (re-recording)
9. Unknown new song
10. Unknown new song

What do you all think?

Well, i'm pretty sure an English version of Tears will be included on it. If I am hearing correctly, it was used as playback during the Yokohama concerts.

I'd say my guess is pretty much the same as the ones you already listed minus Art of Life.  One of the best parts of that song is that it takes you on a 29 min journey with multiple layers.  I think a cut down version would be pointless, even if it's already a 100% English song. I know they included it in the NA tour setlist but I think that was more because the song's a fan favorite and they wanted to end the concert with a bang. I would probably replace it with X in all it's Japanese glory.

I agree with X instead of Art of Life.. After all, this is their first album to be released internationally, so X must be included together with all that are mentioned above. As much as Art of Life is their signature song, then X is their fans' identity song.

I doubt there are gonna be any new and unknown songs in it....
Also, I doubt Without You is gonna be therre. I 'd like it to be but as i don't think they are going to translate it in english....I don't think so.

My guess would be for:
Jade
Born To Be Free
I.V.
Kurenai
Rusty Nail
Tears
Endless Rain
X
Silent Jealousy

Yeah, I'm a Yoshiki fangirl. SUE ME.

My guess is that the album will include an instrumental of some sort, perhaps as an intro - maybe that new intro music that they were using on the NA tour?

At the press conference in Japan a few months ago, Yoshiki said that the Art of Life will be included in the new album.
But you know.......... its Yoshiki....lol

I WISH we would get SOME FORM OF UPDATE on this album.

My speculation...

Song's I'm POSITIVE will be on the record:
1. Jade
2. Rusty Nail (new vocals)
3. Kurenai (Re-recording)
4. Tears (Re-recording)
5. Born To Be Free
6. I.V. (Different than the single version from Saw IV)

Probably will be on the album:
1. X
2. Endless Rain
3. Art of Life (Radio Edit w/Violin Intro)

Honorable Mentions:
1. Without You
2. Silent Jealousy
3. Drain

Song I wish they would record in English and put on the album:
1. Sadistic Desire <---Bring this damn song back!

Personally I think that if Endless Rain and X end up on the album they will be exactly like the old versions. I'd LOVE to see Kurenai being with the piano and violin solo followed by hide's guitar intro with Toshi singing (I couldn't look back...).

Yoshiki said on the other day that they are recording only the vocals.
So sadly, there won't be any re-recordings.
Anyway, here is my list

Definate Choice

1. Kurenai (new vocals + probably violin intro)
2. Rusty Nail (new vocals)
3. Jade
4. Born to Be Free
5. I.V. (longer intro)
6. Tears (new vocals)
7. Silent Jealousy (new vocals)

and probably

8. Art of Life (old radio edit version)
9. Without You
10. New Sugizo song???

Really? That's disappointing.  Like many fans, AOL is my favorite X song but the thought of having people listen to it for the FIRST TIME as a edited down short version just.....doesn't sit right with me.  It's trying to get new fans but only offering 70% of X's potential.

X re-recorded Kurenai back in the mid 90's for potential overseas release although it was never released. Check out the Music Station footage on YouTube when they did Tears and Kurenai on the same show. The production of the recording is much better than the original and it still features hide. I think there's a real chance that version will make the album.

This is a link to the performance. Piano and lead vocals are live, all the rest is the pre-recording.

I think it will be pretty much what everybody else has been saying:

Jade
I.V.
Born to be Free
Kurenai
X
Tears or Endless Rain
Silent Jealousy
I'd love to see Art of Life, but I'm a bit of a purist who believes that it has to be played in full to get the entire impact of the song.
(new instrumental, either Sugizo + Yoshiki on piano and violin or an orchestral piece like Es Dur)
Another new song

We also know (or at least know the rumour) that a North American Tour DVD is in development so maybe we can look forward to a special edition DVD/CD combo with bonus songs? :D

I would like that Without You is also on the new cd!
For Kurenai: I prefer the version with violin/piano/ToshI (I couldn't look back..) intro.

Im really excited for the new album. Havent been this excited since Chinese Democracy and Slash's solo album =P This is the first X Japan studio album that will come out since Ive gotten into them 4 years ago. Now Im more than grateful I made it to the Chicago show, but Im always a sucker for NEW music from bands I love (who isnt?!). Anyways, as excited as I am, Im a little worried this will be nothing more than a new greatist hits compilation with a few new songs (like Van Halen's Best of Both Worlds). I know theyre trying to break into a new market, but why not just do an actual album and then maybe a new greatest hits? Can you really count this as a new album if its 70% old material? Im hoping Jade, Born to be Free, and I.V. arent the only new tracks on the album. I am defiantly psyched of hearing the new versions of the old songs, but Id still have completely new tunes. Then again, there could be 1-3 (or more) new tracks we dont know about on it...

Also, I remember seeing a preview of the Kurenai PV. It was completely different with an awesome violin intro, but I dont think the "youve gone away from me" and hide guitar intro were on it =/
It should still be great though. The new Tears, Rusty Nail, X, and Endless Rain SHOULD be a given. Art of Life is my favorite song in history but it would be useless on this album, its best in its full glory (although I LOVED the live version on the North American tour). The original is in english, and perfect as is. Id rather new stuff be on the album...

So I think an ideal track list would be-
1. Jade
2.Rusty Nail
3. I.V.
4. Endless Rain
5. Kurenai
6. Born to Be Free
7. New Song
8. New Song
9. X
10. Tears
(If it winds up more than 10 tracks, even better)

Well, Yoshiki didn't really say ALL of the old songs were going to have only the vocals re-done, right? The album would be the weirdest sounding thing ever with that many different production values o_O

Wait a minute if it REALLY is half new and have old songs....

Old:
1. Rusty Nail
2. Kurenai
3. X
4. Endless Rain

New:
1. Jade
2. Born To Be Free
3. I.V.
4. Without You?

....There's no way Art of Life is going to fit, even if it's the radio version..

A 2-disc album is not out of the question, though. But still, why re-release Art of Life when it's already completely English and has a radio edit version? It's best to just release the album with the tracks you listed (plus Silent Jealousy and Tears) and then give all their previous albums US releases.

That's what I figure it'll be; with the english version of Tears added to the old songs list and possibly the song Sugizo apparently wrote to the new. I'd be surprised if X wasn't on it too.

So with..

Rusty Nail, Kurenai, X, Endless Rain and Tears on for old songs..

I.V., Jade, Born To Be Free are the 'new' songs that are CONFIRMED..

I added up the running time of the songs we have on the albums, along with the single version of IV and the 'radio edit' of Jade with Born To Be Free at an average of 9 minutes (depending which live version) and the total of these 8 songs is..

54:55

A standard cd usually can hold up to 80 minutes of music...Keep speculating.

Well then I guess they CAN squeeze all of Art of Life on there xD (j/k of course).

Well most of X's albums are <60 min with Dahlia at 57:37 So 54:55 should be fine I think.

A standard CD holds exactly 74 minutes of music. Just for reference.
