There is a topic of best lives but I believe this thread serves a slightly different purpose.

As all X-fans should know. The studio versions pale in comparison to the live versions. My mission for the past few months is to find all the best live versions of ALL songs. Hopefully everyone here can chip in and give their opinions in the hopes of creating a definitive, ultimate live setlist of X songs! I'll start off:

Stab me in the back - Blue Blood tour

From hide's part to Pata's PERFECT solo. This one is truly incredible.

Rose of Pain - X live Orchestra @ NHK hall
No contest. Probably the DEFINITIVE best version of Rose of Pain in FULL.

Endless Rain - On the verge of Destruction concert

I've never seen them so emotional while playing this song. Must have been because of Taiji leaving...

Right now I'm looking for the best live version of Standing Sex. Mind helping me out here?

EDIT: If you are contributing to this thread, the preferred format is:

Name of the Song - Tour/Live where this song was played
Video/Audio clip of the live

Through this format one will be able to find and download the songs with less hassle. And thus, less time spent searching and more time for listening!

Best live of Standing Sex imo, This sound in general is the most solid, Toshi voice is deep at a lot of points which works a lot for this song and he sings it better then all other versions, and its the proper lyrics, I never liked "because I'm crying for true blue skies" it never sounded right when Toshi sang it like that imo.

I'm really liking the one you posted Ulquiorra .

I've updated the 1st post with a preferred format when posting lives. It is optional of course :)

Orgasm-Dahlia Tour-Tokyo Dome-1995.12.31

I was very suprised to find this, its another English version of Orgasm I didn't even know existed, I thought it was only performed twice, at the last live and and the hong kong concerts. But no it turns out this is the first time the english version was performed, and I think its the best version because unlike the last live where imo, it doesn't sound like there's any energy in Toshi's voice, he's actually putting effort into this 1995 version and he sounds awesome.

Unfinished - LIVE on TV

I think this is the best version of unfinished because this is the only full band version I can find...nonetheless, this is an amazing performance. Perfect in every sense of the word. Now if somebody can actually find this....

Two requests:

Can somebody try and find a good live version of Say Anything?

If anyone can find a good, if not better version of Unfinished? feel free to post!

That is an awesome performance. I have often wondered why the original version of Say Anything was never preformed as much as the other ballads? Any ideas?

Umm, my opinion for BLUE BLOOD ...

there's 3 best live performance of BLUE BLOOD

- 31.12.2008, Akasaka Blitz, COUNTDOWN GIG

- 08.12.1991, NHK Hall, X with Orchestra Special Live

- 31.12.1993, Tokyo DOME, X JAPAN RETURNS

;)

notice the differences between those lives? XD

none of your business ...

For Alive, the 1987.12.13 version is the best IMO. Yoshiki on piano and Toshi on vocals. Really beautiful. :)

I read somewhere that YOSHIKI considered "Say Anything" as a failure and even thought about not releasing it at one point.
Apparently, he initially composed the song attempting to come up with a ballad song better than "ENDLESS RAIN".
I think that's why they hardly ever play it.. and instead, use it as an S.E.
which is quite a pity cuz i love that song too!

but there was a little cameo of the song with only Yoshiki on piano and Toshi singing first 2 verses + 1 chorus which I absolutely love...I always wanted them to perform like that again like they performed Dahlia in HK  concert

Oh btw, the best version of Tears has got to be the Jan 17 concert in HK.  Anybody who had watched it live would have agreed as Toshi's voice was out of this world in this concert...ok I am biased but truth nonetheless :P

I have found it, in my opinion, the best, most complete version of X to date:

X-Bakuhatsu Sunzen Gig 1989

awesome quality with subs! What do ya think?

Ahhh there it is again.. the one X performance that Yoshiki doesn't want to release a DVD of... It's 1989.06.10 and possibly one of the coolest gigs you'll ever get to see if only Yoshiki would release it.

That performance of X is actually shown on the documentary 'Global Metal' ...why won't Yoshiki release the whole show?

Out of curiosity and just in case anyone knows....I was wondering for a while....
Do we know if he is actually allowed to release old material?
I mean from the era that they were under Sony etc etc...
I know that both Blue blood and Silent Jealousy have been re-released and all the DVDs that were re-released in the box set....but is he allowed to release any other things that have never been released before or might there be any kind of problems since they were under a different label etc etc etc?

Yeah, I'm a Yoshiki fangirl. SUE ME.

I don't know. But even if Sont has the rights, wouldn't they get a % of the income? So I don't see why they wouldn't want it to be released. Or maybe it's the reason Yoshiki won't..

I would pay $500 to see that show. No doubt in my mind.

it was exciting at the time, its quite good, but toshi's raspy voice doesn't sound the same as in the 80's and he even sounds like he's gargling with his throat at some points. And his voice sounded weak during the chorus.

imo the best blue blood live is the mza one. I might post it later, but you can find it on youtube, blury video/audio but its still good.
