New Forum Structure

As this software allows to have subforums inside subforums, I thought of making use of that option and make the front page a bit shorter. If you didn't understand what I just said, go check the JRR forums and see, for example, the 'Other Jrock Artists' subforum.

So, this is what I have come up this far:

Other Bands might also get it's own subforum under Offtopic, instead of a sub-subforum. I'm also not sure if I should keep the Trade subforum, since it's not used right now anyway.

That's a good idea. About the trade forum, maybe it could go, or put a poll in the suggestions part...

Well Other Projects should be separate imo. I mean where to put Dope HEADz? Under Pata or Heath? And those subforums would go too 'deep'.

I think the Fanstuff forums as Hypno suggested are fine.
As is everything else, I guess. The front page really is too long as it is.

Having Other Projects on the front page is much simpler to newbies than having it under the members, which is already under The Band.

And Offtopic= off-topic discussion= not X related discussion.

And yes, we really need that. It can be lowered above Sharing though...

I think sexually explicit stuff should be ok if it's hosted somewhere with a link to the page where it's located and a big fat warning so people can choose not to go there.

Maybe we could try to "merge" some subforums that are not very active. For example, for the Tour, I think we could have only : "X Japan World Tour 2008" and "Past tours".

Just checking the "activities" of the subforums, here are the ones that seem VERY inactive and could be removed :

So in my opinion, the Wikipedia subforum could go.
The other members should stay 'cause it's the only place where we can talk about them.
Past tour subforums merge in one "Past tours" subforum.
We could merge some Fan stuff subforums. I think a "Fanart" subforums would be enough. No need to split too much.
Other Project's News could go. The news could be posted in the other project directly.
We could merge the "Other projects" in one subforum.

About the sexual stuff, if it's explicit, it should be forbidden. If it's not forbidden, then we have to update the agreement when you register saying that you HAVE to be 18 to check the forum (so Millie, you'd have to go ). Really, we don't need explicit sex stuffs here... you can find enough of it at other places.

But what do you mean by hosted elsewhere ?
What I understand by hosted elsewhere is that I host the picture on MY server, but then I post it here on XFF. For me, that would be wrong.

Hosting it elsewhere = post it on their LJ, fanfiction.net or wherever and then post a link here, with warnings, ratings and all.

I think the new structure is a quite good decision. And so far I can't say anything against the suggested structure in the first post here.
Wouldn't put fanart stuff to offtopic either. As long as there's an X member on the picture, in the story or cosplayed, it's fine IMO, hehe!

Damned mz brain is to overload to think of anzthing but when iäm not wrong you thought of the Fanarts section might be a problem with X related and not X related fanstuff

So my suggestion is to take this part extra, and then in the subforum divide it into X related fanart and non X related and in both sections put content like: fanvids, drawings, cosplay, etc...

Well, I'd actually use it because when it comes to art and poetry and the likes, most of the stuff I do is non-X-related. And I'd love to show you guys but yeah.

Yeah, i agree with the non X related fanstuff. It would be nice for people to have a section to share whatever stuff they have created to people they talk to on here. (and if people don't use the section? It can be deleted later right? Can't hurt to have it. )
