First song I ever heard from X. Also, my favourite X ballad with Endless Rain and Say Anything.

But then I also like to think that despite all the pain in it it ALSO is a love song that Yoshiki wrote for the person who dried HIS tears.

Agree completely.

Pony rocks!

Yeah, this is so true!
In fact, that song stopped me from making a big mistake once :/

I really love "tears" very much. It was the first X Japan song I listened to knowingly. it's not my "favourite" song, but together with art of life it's the most important one..

Oh well, it's no really a secret wrote it in my blog once (I think)
Befor 3 years or something I almost broke up with my boyfriend because...well, I was affraid to discuss something with him, I think. It's really long ago. But that song made me stop for a moment and think before makeing any quick decisions by my own :/
Well, since I'm we're still happily together now, I really really glad that song was there in the right moment.

I totally agree with you. Normally I don't really like ballads of rock bands but these songs are just amazing. When I'm depressed or sad I sooo love fo listen to those songs!

Hum, and I who thought ballads from metal/rock bands usually are more pure than those made by people who mostly focus on them.

This song is a classic. The structure, the melody, the vocals work together very well.
But I think, the guitar solos gives the song a stronger feeling.

I think Tears is a fantastic piece of work and the solo is awesome. Like the solos of the other “ballads” – Endless Rain, Forever Love, Say Anything, The Last Song etc it is very carefully constructed and the solo kicks in at the perfect moment with maximum impact, really emotional!

btw, Tears is featured (twice) in the Korean movie "Windstruck". For me, it really brings on tears when the song come on.

Here in Finland one local TV channel, Subtv, showed one korean tv series which name was also something like windstruck. And it had Tears as the ending theme. But that was so long time ago, like somewhere in the beginning of 2000. Maybe '02... :D Though I guess they have showed it as re-run, but I've missed. The name was something else in finnish but the english version of it was "wind-" something.
That was soo.. weird!

Me too!!
At first I saw that film just because Tears is in it. When the song came in both times me and my bro were sobbing lol...
Brilliant film, and perfect use of X Japan's music.

Back ontopic, I think Tears is my favourite song of all time. Everything about it is perfect, the music, guitar solo, outtro, Yoshiki's 'monologue', the lyrics... Everything about it is just amazing

Hey have you guys heard the tears 1993 version on the Dahlia single album? It's just...too perfect. Do you think they may have edited toshi's vocals like they did to Art of Life?

If you could have told me everything
You would have found what love is
For now I will try to live for you and for me
I will try to live with love, with dreams,
and forever with tears

If you could have told me everything
You would have found what love is
If you could have told me what was on your mind
I would have shown you the way
Someday I'm gonna be older than you
I've never thought beyond that time
I've never imagined the pictures of that life
For now I will try to live for you and for me
I will try to live with love, with dreams,
and forever with tears
