articles?

I don't really see the point in it being locked or why we need to create two threads for each new article. It hasn't been updated in over three weeks, the X Japan TV thing isn't even on there.

It's just better kept up with normal users can contribute to it.

why don't reopen the news sections and let mods close the threads afterwards.
We could post news and links to the discussion subforums ourselves.

I don't even know why discussion can't happen in the News forum. Re-posting it is pointless and adds clutter.

As far as I remember, the news section was locked because most - maybe even almost all - discussion took place there. This made the subforums pretty useless back then.
I still like my idea. Let's wait for Hypno's opinion on the subject.

If I remember well, Hypno wanted to use the news subforum to grab the topics and display them on X-Freaks website (or something like that). It's why it's restricted.

Imagine if anybody could post anything, the website would look just like a mess.

Couldn't anyone post in the news forum before a month or two ago?

I don't either, but I do remember how some people get butthurt when someone else "scoops" them to news.  Some people like to be the sole source of news, etc.

Of course, that killed the news subforum.  In its current state, I don't see the point of having it at all.

I actually like the news section locked because it's an easy and clear way to find news quickly without getting sucked into the discussion about it.
