This is the first "dress rehearsal", so to speak. Day Zero of Anime Expo is tomorrow; I'm going to fluff the wig more and tweak the makeup a bit. But this is it! Tell me your thoughts?  :D

And just for laughs; this happened by accident as I was uploading various images to photobucket:

PS: I think we should have a cosplay section under "fanart". :P

Lady, lady are you ready to go?
Why do you have to be laying down?

The way the dress falls by your legs and so is absolutely beautiful.
Great work.

wooow, great work!!

I don't want to be picky, but Yoshiki's things were never dresses, just big big jacket things... I mean that you could open them completely in front, closed with buttons, if you know what i mean... (i have a reference picture if you wanna see XD)

but don't listen to me, i'm unworthy to make such critic on such great work!! (cause I can't sew at all XD and especially not something like this) It's a great cosplay after all :00

say, isn't there a cosplay thread under pictures and galleries? Just asking, thought I've seen it

Very true, but I think that was so he could easily show off his boobless man-chest (he seems to have enjoyed this) and remind everyone that the "princess" is a dude...

So I think for a woman who needs to keep her chest covered for the con, it's not bad to sort of re-invent it as a dress that can stay closed.

But yeah, either way I agree, great job Mitsuko!  Really some nice work!

I rather believe it's a more practical thing... for piano playing actually, he needed more freedom for his legs, which a skirt doesn't really give.
Maybe he just wanted to show off his hot legs in lacy tights and leather somethings

Eeh ... o.ô I can only speak from personal experience, but I never had problems with playing in skirts. xD I mean ... hitting some pedals doesn't really require much movements. (Besides his coats - also if it were dresses xD - had plenty of volume around the legs. I see no difficulty. xD)

Sorry for picking on details. XD

EDIT : Wrong thread. XDD lol.

The cosplay is really cool xD~ Yay

Wild passion~

I debated for a long time whether to make it a fully functioning jacket, as his style tends to be, or an actual dress. It was a tough decision but ultimately when I was looking at the reference pictures for it (not from the Celebration PV, because that's a different dress, but the photos), it looked like a real dress. The only clue that it might be a jacket was the buttons. So I thought it would LOOK more accurate to actually make it a dress, and keep the buttons (which I did :P).

I didn't actually do the sewing because I fail at that, LOL! But I found the patterns and fabrics and accessories etc. while commissioning my friend's mom to do the actual sewing. I had to oversee a lot, though, to check for accuracy, hehe. It took her about two weeks, once we FINALLY found the right fabrics.

And once I get my special tape on (I was saving it for the real con, since I have a limited supply) I am going to open the jacket a bit more. It will be an illusion, but I will indeed appear to have a boobless man-chest! : D

And yes, that is indeed a hula hoop.... I'm at my friend's house.  XD When the con starts, I'll get some quality shots with a better background.

Thank you for all your kind words and nitpicky-ness! (No, I really do like that! Over time I would like to continue improving this costume and your criticisms are necessary for that process. :P)

AWESOME! You look beautiful! What a cute princess! :D

Yeah, since you said, you'll fluuf the wig more and tweak the makeup... in my opinion there's nothing left to do it better then.
Maybe a fake-nose?

And out of the chaos I heard a voice telling me:
"Smile and be happy - it could have become worse!"
So I smiled and was happy... and it became worse

Today was day one and the wig is still obnoxious in its fickle fluffiness, but the makeup is a bit better (I made a couple slight adjustments) and overall it has been a HUGE hit! I can't believe how many X fans crept out of hiding to take pictures. What an ego boost.

(More pictures when I remember to ask someone to send them to me... on Sunday I'm doing a photo shoot though, I think.)

Finally decided to post an update from the actual con... :P

Anime Expo

I was still having a hard time getting that hair to stick up properly. Gah.

My next project is "sea-urchin" Yoshiki - from the Vanishing Vision days! And my best friend will be doing hide. I'm hoping to get a full X cosplay together, but I'm not sure right now about a Toshi or a Heath... think I've talked someone into Pata though!

I'll certainly post pics if/when this happens. It will most likely be done at Sakuracon, which will be in April. :)

tip for hair: hairspray, backcombing (with a brush, not a comb), hairspray. Till it sticks up the way you want it. That's how I do my hair every morning XDD

AND IT LOOKS AWESOME!!

I'll work on that :D Hopefully by the next time I do it, I'll have time to search out some GOOD makeup... instead of just working with what I have. My wig master friend will oversee the hair improvements too.

Thanks guys, I knew you would have some good constructive criticism!
