I didn't know where to post it (Off-topic or other bands) but well I just regard other bands as "other music"

Are you into classical music too? If so who are your favourite composers and pieces of art?

I really adore The New World Symphony by Antonin Dvorak and the 9th Symphony by Beethoven (by far my favourite *__* especially with the choir in the end)

On my school we had a very old-fashioned music teacher, who rather taught us everything about classical music than singing pop/rock songs with us (i've heard teachers do that at other schools...)
For a year we had the task to listen to at least one classical piece of music as homework. It was quite interesting, I think it gave me a lot...

You have to listen to classical music LOUDLY everything else doesn't work. I love live concerts, they're so boombastic

I've heard a lot but I can't name everything I've heard xD or associate them with a composer.

Mom fed me with classical music my whole childhood since it's said that it makes kids smarter XDD And our music teacher also thought it was important to teach us some about it, the knowledge of classical music seems like it's dying out so I think that's good.

Not into it... I respect it and have tried to get into it in the past, but so far I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've thought "I really feel like listening to classical right now".

I don't hate it, and if I'm in a store and it's playing over the speakers, I'm not bothered by it or anything (and I would WAY rather classical than jazz or R&B).  But it's not really my thing.

I love it! :P

Favorites atm, I guess, are Rachmaninov's 2nd Piano Concerto (the one Yoshiki used in his drum solo at TLL :P ), Ravel's Bolero, Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik, Orff's O Fortuna and of course, Pachelbel's Canon in D Major...

And many more...

And of course, if you count in Yoshiki's work... ;) Anniversary is really good :D

Well... there's 3 parts (Adagio sostenuto, Allegretto, Presto agitato) of it. The first two aren't that hard. I can play most of the first one on piano too. But the third part...?

It's quite an interesting story around it. Beethoven wrote it for one of his students he fell in love with. As you can hear, it wasn't that much happiness in it :P
It's really interesting how each part represents the stages of love he went through.
 :D

the 3rd movement is quite difficult and still cant properly play it (been 2 years ive been trying! ) but getting there!

one thing i want to learn is Mozart Piano Concerto no 23 (k488)  :D hahha~

I enjoy classical music sometimes i often recognise a lot of classical music from adverts etc. Its one of those things you recognise the melody instantly but can't name the composer or name of it.

Well, Yoshiki got me interested in Rachmaninoff, and I like Rachmaninoff's other works as well, specifically the Piano Concerto No. 3 and as Hypno has stated, the one which Yoshiki used for his Drum Solo.

As for others...

Vivaldi's Four Seasons is great to listen too, Franz Liszt's Liebestraum and Hungarian Rhapsody are simply delectable. Offenbach, Tales of Hoffmann Barcarolle without the choir is awesome.

And can't forget Bach, Orchestral Suite No. 3 (Air) is very good to sleep to. :)

As for Tchaikovsky... I love his Nutcracker's ballet, but the rest is...

I never really got into Mozart, Beethoven or Chopin.

Finally some more people who like classical!

I've got a couple of albums (I can't remember off the top of my head) but my absolute FAVORITE composer (other than Yoshiki) is Gershwin. I love An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue.

I LOVE YOSHIKI :D

I listen to it every once in a while. But I could listen to Nobuo Uematsu all day. I love that man. So many emotions go through my head when I listen to his work.

I don't mind classical, but I think my music teacher in middle school ruined it a bit for me. She forced us to listen to classical every lesson for 6 years or something no matter whether we wanted to or not. I've started liking it a bit more lately though.

Well, my music is definitely metal/rock. But I also listen to classical music, especially film music that is classical, for example the music of "the Memoirs of a Geisha". I don't like the film (it's a typical hollywood movie), but the music is great ... who's suprised, John Williams allways compose great music. By the way: Apocalyptica do great classical music, too... well, it's not really classical, but the song "Path" of them is really great.

...am I strange? I think so or do you know a person who listen to e.g. Slayer AND sometimes classical T_T"?

No. I think it's strange/stupid if you limit yourself in to a certain style of music.

I went through a bit of a classical phase a while back, can't really say I love it now, but I certainly prefer to listen to it than alot of other things. I generally prefer early baroque music (I love Bach's Brandenburg Concertos :D ), though by no means exclusively.  Saint-Saëns and Dvorak are favourites as well.

The fact about Grieg having written a song called "Morning Wood" didn't seem right to me. Then I realized that's not what you wrote at all. xD
