Quick advice on getting an X tattoo

Well finally, after thinking about it for over 12 years, I'm getting my tattoo done on Saturday.

So far, I've decided to go with the classic X (as seen on X Singles.. well you get it, the typical X logo).  However, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions as to what kind of texture/design I should go with to fill the inside of the X.  Some rusty metal like texture... some shading ? I don't know. Obviously, the tattoo artist should be able to help but I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. (anything to complement around the X would be great too although I want to keep it simple)

Well, my idea was to get a blue rose in the background of the X... and I think it would be pretty cool to get a sprig of thorns inside the X maybe, if you know what I mean... but of course it's hard to match tastes with someone else That's just my idea. And maybe someday I will get that one, but not yet. I'm just not ready for an X tattoo yet I think.
