This is awful. I am really sorry...
I knew about her passing away from other sources and I did not realize who she was immediatelt, but only today something in my brain clicked and I realized she was actually Ann from X-Freaks.

I agree some kind of a tribute should be done to remember Ann and Maverick.

I just made that post because Yoshiki held the mini acoustic concert in France last year specifically because of how many times they cancelled the shows over there.

I understand. I also saw his apologetic post in French and although I did not question his sincerity, I thought that he might have taken into account the fact that hundreds (or thousands) of people from other countries sacrificed a lot, too. But I don't say it because I'd resent him for the cancelled shows or anything. It simply happened and let's hope it all ends up fine this time.

I hope it will be different this time and I´m very optimistic, I was unsure last year when they anounced Lollopalooza and the NA tour and they did it properly, so I have a good feeling about the Europe tour.
By the way, do you come to Berlin, I´ve you are from Praha.

I am glad you feel this way. :)
We won't be going to Berlin. In fact, my wife and I thought we would not attend any of the concerts, as we have already seen X-Japan back in 2008 and as we plan to make another big journey this May, so some financial prudence would be in order. But then I managed to get two very reasonably priced tickets to London and as I have always wanted to take my wife there, we decided to attend after all and with a kind help of a friend we secured two concert tickets as well.
But coming to Berlin or Paris as well would be a bit too extravagant.  ;)

because the I think French were the ones who got screwed over the most during the constant concert cancellations last year.

I'd hate to start an endless war about who got screwed most...  ;)
Yet I still think that rather than French, those who had the worst financial losses were people from other European countries who always bought their airplane/train tickets and booked hotels etc. and then they either had to throw the money out of the window and stay home or grit their teeth and enjoy a trip to Paris they would do well without.

That said, I hope Yoshiki and all the other members are going to be in the best condition for all of the shows. :)

Dana and I are coming, too.

Offtopic / Re: About Maverick
« on: March 11, 2011, 06:06:41 PM »
Yesterday I had one German professor for dinner and she told me about a student of Leipzig university passing away and I got a bad feeling, so I checked their website and although I have not known Maverick's true name, I immediately recognized the face from the picture from a Cologne conference, as Maverick and I actually met and talked there last year - for the second and what now turns out to be the last time in our lives.
This is devastating.
To see such a talented young person passing away... I have no words.

Toshi / Re: Has Toshi's MIXI been removed?

I guess that's something we can agree on, then. As much as some shady tendencies might have been apparent back then, the current situation still feels wildly surreal. Definitely not how I would ever expect things to be.

I remember in an old thread when I called Masaya a megalomaniac due the similarities between his romanised name and the English word Messiah and was completly slaughtered for doing so.

Wow. Completely slaughtered? Must have been another board then. I've just re-read it just to be sure and as far as I have seen, several people (including me) simply disagreed with you on very polite terms.
Also, no matter how Masaya might have turned out to be, I still consider it a mere co-incidence.

Does anybody know how could ppl living outside Japan get a ticket for the concert ??

I remember some X freaks from Germany went to the shows in Tokyo last year, hopefully they will answer your question :-)

Sorry, can't help you, there's no "unofficial seller" I'd know about. I bought my tickets via Japanese friend.

Can we lay off this issue? Hypno has tried to politely say that PN is no longer here so we can now discuss/post stuff she wouldn't deem "worthy". Honestly this is a win for everyone now, PN left and we can now discuss what we want, any further discussion of this issue is beating a dead horse and isn't necessary.

Wow.

uuuun.... 5, not my cup of anything, I'm afraid   :-\

Here, Concrete & Clay. There are many versions, but I think this is the original - and my favourite, too.

I wouldn't call it a SMALL mistake to mistake one person for another

Happends all the time - in culture, sports, politics - and while it can be a right faux pas indeed, it is usually quickly forgotten, because such mistakes simply happen even to the greatest newspapers and news programs.

"informative" and "personal" aren't mutually exclusive

Not always, no. In many cases they are, though, epecially in the form of annoying (or downright embarassing) flood of personal feelings included into the report. Of course, sometimes it can be done very tastefully and then the overall result looks fine, being both informative and appropriately emotional, but such reports are rather rare. Then again, to each his own.

18
As long as the info is there without loads of fangirlish sauce, I could not care less.

And mistakes happen in press - they happened in JRR and other official sources, too.

19
Not at all.

Frankly, the interview is what interests me, I don't have to have all the stuff around, because it usually depends on the viewpoint of the reporter and that's not always a good thing. Sometimes it can be even slightly annoying, see.

20
Yeah, I know there is. But this one is really nice.

Very nice professional report.
I have not noticed this link here yet, so I'm posting it.

If I had that kind of excess money to spend on such trivialities I certainly would much sooner donate it to Oxfam than I would purchase those items.

Actually, I have been thinking something like that too.  ;)

8 - cute! :D

Now, here's something - I have always kind of liked the song, but then I have seen the clip and it's absolutely lulzy. :D

EDIT: Sorry, Youtube is being a bitch, so I had to change the song (Uptown Girl by Billy Joel), because the videoclip was essential. :/ So, here is a different song, my favourite in fact.

5 - it's not bad, but somehow this kind of melody never worked well with me

Mmmm, okay - now one pretty rare piece sung by no other than Richard Harris (yeah, that one ;)). I have read somewhere that this song was kind of a bet - that a song with a pretty melody can be a hit even if the lyrics is weird. Don't know whether it's true or  not, but I think the lyrics is not at all weird, on the contrary - it catches the mood and nostalgy pretty well.

Oh, good.  :) My version has not yet arrived - I had a credit card trouble and before it was solved, the book had been sold out at CD Japan. So I am expecting it from HMV now, but it won't be here before the end of September....
