The fourth one is the Charlie Chaplin one I mentioned earlier. XD I'm not sure about the rest, though. ^^"

General chat / Bad news about the Paris concert. D:
« on: June 04, 2008, 04:00:16 PM »
Apparently, X Japan has decided to change the venue for their Paris concert at the last minute, but they don't have a new location set up yet! @_@ More info here and here.

Yoshiki / Catacombs available for free on Comcast On-demand!
« on: June 02, 2008, 09:30:42 PM »
So yesterday my dad told me about the On-demand feature that our digital cable comes with, and I was looking through the list of movies that were available for free. I didn't recognize most of them, but one of the ones I did recognize was Catacombs. ^^

I really like hide as Chucky from Child Play.
He seriously looks the scariest there.. remind me of Joker too.
His eyes and expression.... really into it. Good cosplaying indeed.

Chucky was my childhood nightmare, I regret rebelling my parents, insisted on watching it when I was so little. @.@
I think back then, the movie was called Good Guys, no?

I actually watched Child's Play for the first time yesterday, since it was playing on TV (commercial-free, too!). XD It was really good. =D But yeah, I can see how kids would be scared by it. XD"

I'd totally read that too, if you do it. :D

Would be fantastic to read about hide from his actual brother, rather than the usual silly rumors that get tossed around.

I second this. =D And third it and fourth it and so on. XD

I'm really really really looking forward to those translations! =D

Actually, I think that picture was part of a series where hide dressed up as famous movie characters (mostly horror movies). There was one of him as Chucky from Child's Play, one of him as Jack Nicholson's character in The Shining, one of him as Charlie Chaplin, and one with a Scarface theme, to name a few. o.o

2 out of 11. XD"

And the worst part is that I actually know where to find some of the answers, but I guess I didn't pay enough attention to the exact dates when reading those articles. XD"

I think by "breakthrough", the quiz meant the album where X Japan went major. o.o Otherwise, yeah, they'd be wrong. XD

10/10 here, too. =D

The New Year's one did take a bit of thinking. I wasn't sure if I remembered the exact year of their first one when I was answering the question, but I guess I did. XD

Ironically, the one about Yoshiki getting angry is one of the few I got right from knowing the answer. XD

I got four right, and I know at least two of them were lucky guesses. XD"

Edit- If it helps, I found this ridiculously easy X Japan quiz. XD

General chat / X Japan in Seoul?

This ticket selling website has an August 30th concert in Seoul listed along with all the tour dates that were announced already. o.o

http://www.ticketbande.co.uk/concerts/tid/574/x-japan.html

The website does look kind of suspicious somehow, but I still thought it was noteworthy that they listed that. o.o

Offtopic / Screaming Kiai forum?
« on: May 20, 2008, 04:40:46 PM »
Does anyone here know what happened to the Screaming Kiai forum (which is a Yoshiki fan forum, by the way)? o.o I'm guessing it's still active, since I got an e-mail today saying there was a new News announcement there, but I clicked on the link, and it took me to the PHP Boards home page. O_o I don't have the link to Screaming Kiai saved on this computer (it's a brand new laptop), and the forum doesn't show up on Google anymore for some reason. o.o

Yoshiki / Yoshiki praised by producers in Saw 4 audio commentary!
« on: May 20, 2008, 04:05:39 AM »
So I was watching all the extras on my Saw 4 DVD today, and at the very end of the producers' audio commentary on the movie, they thank Yoshiki and X Japan for the theme song! =D They also go on to call Yoshiki a "genius", and say to check out more of his work in Repo (they said that Yoshiki mixed all the songs for Repo and was also the producer for most of them, by the way). XD They mis-pronounced his name to sound like "Yo-SHEE-kee" instead of "YO-shi-ki", but because they said so many positive things about him, I can forgive them. XD

Yoshiki / Yoshiki's voice
« on: May 19, 2008, 05:12:17 PM »
Quote from: "AsukaMiyu"
(The parts he's speaking in VUK's Blue Blutterfly are some of the best things of the whole song lol XD)

If you mean the counting in Italian, I'm pretty much positive that's the singer of the song speaking. XD"

It would be awesome if Yoshiki contributed his voice to VUK songs though (or even more X Japan songs!). <3 Slightly off-topic, but I found a video clip yesterday where in one part he's playing BASS for a VUK song! O_O

And as for him singing, Yoshiki claims he can't sing, but given his musical abilities, and his tendency to be modest, I wonder if he really does have an amazing voice but he's just shy about it and therefore he's hiding it from us. XD" Or it's possible that maybe he really can't sing. XD But I'd like to hear him sing either way just to know for sure if he can or not. =P

Which is awesome because my birthday is on July 19th, so it's like a slightly belated birthday present. XD

hide / Official hide book to be released!
« on: May 16, 2008, 09:38:33 PM »
From JaME:

Quote
OFFICIAL BOOK "hide BIBLE" will go on sale mid-July. The book will include comments from YOSHIKI, TOSHI, PATA and HEATH regarding the Tokyo Dome 3-day live, a section called "ALL ABOUT hide", which will contain accounts from many of hide's friends, a hide interview from ARENA 37℃ and more.

I fixed a few typos that were there, but otherwise that's a direct quote. XD

There was actually a Buddhist symbol that looked like a reverse swastika, and I think it represented something like the cycle of life. The Nazis just flipped that around and changed its meaning. So that might have something to do with why the symbol is so popular in Japan. o.o

And I don't see any swastika-like symbols on Heath's outfit in that picture by the way. o.o

Edit-
Taken from Wikipedia:

Quote
The symbol as it is used in Buddhist art and scripture is known in Japanese as a manji (literally, "the character for eternality" 萬字), and represents Dharma, universal harmony, and the balance of opposites. When facing left, it is the omote (front) manji, representing love and mercy. Facing right, it represents strength and intelligence, and is called the ura (rear) manji. Balanced manji are often found at the beginning and end of Buddhist scriptures (outside India).

XDD and also, I Saw Four Movies Just Like This = win

Actually, yeah, someone from Jrockhumor added the Yoshiki x Floor part (and I visit that place a lot, too, by the way). XD I wrote pretty much everything else, though. XD"

A few days ago, someone deleted the "Early Years" part for no apparent reason. O_o But I put it back. >D

Fun fact- Kaoru from Dir en grey actually met hide and got his autograph. ^^

Are they going to show the Muteki Band songs, too? o.o I at least really really REALLY want to see the cover of Pink Spider! *_*

Of course, the only way I'll be able to see ANY of these is if someone records the broadcast and uploads all of it online. XD" I reeeeeally hope someone does. *_*

AND I LOVE THAT PHOTO OMG. *_*

« on: May 02, 2008, 07:28:28 PM »
UVER, that is awesome! =D

I did a drawing for hide-sama, too. XD You can see it here. ^^

I also donated $10 to the Make a Wish Foundation ($5 to the American branch and $5 to the Japanese branch). ^^ I also do this every year on his birthday, by the way. XD

I plan on watching His Invincible Deluge Evidence at some point today, but I also have a party to go to. XD" Hopefully I'll still have time for the DVD afterwards. <3

And hide is Forever Love!

I hope it's okay for me to post this, by the way. XD"

General chat / NEW Live X DVD boxset
« on: May 02, 2008, 04:45:55 PM »
YesAsia is a much better alternative to CDJapan. Sometimes it takes longer for YA to have something in stock, but they always have free shipping. Meanwhile, CDJapan's shipping costs are usually super expensive (I remember trying to order the Hide Days magazine, only to find out shipping cost even more than the book itself! But that book's still not available on YA. ;_;).

But isn't the Blue Blood Tour DVD something that wasn't released before? o.o Or is that only part of a live performance from that tour? I hope it's the whole thing since I kind of already paid for it. XD"

And the only Visual Shock DVD I have so far is the Celebration one. ^^"

That's from the Jealousy era by the way... just in case anyone was curious.

I'm not the one who uploaded it or anything, but I recognize it from the Jealousy bandscore.

I was wondering about that, since I noticed the cowbell was labeled in there. XD

Does anyone know if his drum kit is still relatively the same now, though? o.o I'm just wondering because I'm doing a sculpture of Yoshiki and his drum kit for a class project, and I want it to be as accurate as possible. XD"
