Well, Macau is becoming more and more like Las Vegas. Instead of being considered as a place for gambling, they want to become a place of entertainment. I remember reading about Las Vegas Sands, the owners of The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel and Sands Macao who apparently are one of the pioneers in this development. My impression of the place after visiting last year was that it's pretty dirty, prostitution is everywhere and other than the already established casinos, it's almost nothing but a big construction site. Naturally, they want to change that image. The city of Las Vegas is world-famous for its shows, and they aim to give Macau a similar reputation.
I do not know if they are in talks with X Japan or anything, but it wouldn't surprise me all that much, as I assume they would like to avoid western musicians. X Japan's music is quite accessible, and I think our beloved band isn't afraid of doing some money grabbing (Yo$hiki? anyone?). Macau has a population of about 500,000 people so an eventual show would obviously not be aimed at the people living in Macau. That's why I believe it would be highly commercial and the amount of people who actually are X Japan fans in the audience would most likely be quite few. I wonder how many times they would perform there?
