General chat / X at its peak?
« on: April 30, 2020, 10:46:06 AM »
Greetings all from quarantine land!

I was feeling a bit nostalgic so looked up the X with orchestra concert on Youtube to listen to while working from home. This was one of the first live performances I heard with X when I first started listening to them some 15-16 years ago (I feel old). As I was listening I was struck by what a fantastic performance this was and it made me think... was this X at their peak? It's about half a year after Jealousy was released. I'm a big fan of Art of Life, but even that didn't sound this good live, did it?

You can find the concert here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERsYZOBa5nI

What do you guys think? Instead of discussing the decline of X, when do you think they were at their peak?

Albums/Singles / X's worst song
« on: October 11, 2008, 05:41:35 PM »
So, I wanna know wich song you think is X's worst. What should they never have recorded? Why?
And no "I like all of their songs equally" :P

I'll start. The song that right now think is the worst is actually:

White Poem I
Still, it's not a bad song! Though sometimes I get so irritated when I hear it! It's really not that special and completely overrated. THOUGH: the remix kicks ass.

General chat / X JAPAN Dictionary
« on: April 24, 2008, 03:46:11 PM »
So last night I was flipping through the booklet of my copy of DAHLIA and I realized that there are loads of words that are really typical for the songs of X, or that they at least are very frequent on using. So I thought - why not make a dictionary with words - japanese or english - that are very typical for X!

I'll start! I've got three kanjis for you (I don't know japanese, so correct me if I'm wrong :))

夢 - yume - dream
This was the first one that I thought of yesterday with the DAHLIA booklet in my hand. It is used in no less than five of the songs on DAHLIA; DAHLIA, SCARS, Longing ~跡切れたmelody~, Rusty Nail and Tears. It just feels very X :)

夜 - yoru - night
It's used everywhere! It's everywhere in the lyrics and most of the Tokyo Dome shows are named XXX夜. X seem to be very fond of nights, or at least Mr Y? ;)

心 - kokoro - heart
Do I even have to comment on this one? Kokoro no kizu ni! A word that fits X perfectly with all the drama and epic stuff in their lyrics :)

Bring us your X words! :D

General chat / Press Conference on 7th April
« on: April 06, 2008, 03:36:48 PM »
EDIT by Admin (fixed some stuff, including the translation):
News from http://www.xjapan.ne.jp/ :

「明日、緊急記者会見が都内某所にて決定!詳細はHPにて随時報告」

It roughly translates to: "There will be an urgent press conference tomorrow (7th April) somewhere in the city. More details if neccessary to be announced on the homepage."

----

So, I guess there's an urgent press conference tomorrow!
New guitarist? More concert dates? We'll see! :D

Forum Games / Languages
« on: February 21, 2008, 08:18:54 PM »
There are a lot of different people her that come from many different countries så I figured a nice language discussion would be nice :D

What languages do you know? Maternal language? What languages do you speak a bit/fluently? :)

My education is specifically concentrated on languages and I find it extremly interesting! :D

I myself have Swedish as my maternal language and I speak English fluently. I have studied Spanish for four and a half years, I'm also studying Latin and Russian since this autumn. And of course, my dream is to go to Japan after I finish school to learn Japanese! :D (I've already started a bit ;) )

So what do you all think about languages? Do you all hate cases?

General chat / What would you expect from a new album/ep/single?
« on: January 11, 2008, 03:52:51 PM »
What would you expect it to contain? :)

My guess is that it'll contain I.V., Whithout You, The unnamed rumoured song, and maybe Tears Unreleased ver.?

Any re-recordings?
Artwork, name?
what do you think? :)

Art of Life Live aka X Japan Returns / Standing Sex
« on: November 09, 2007, 04:02:46 PM »
Everybody knows about the the wrong date on the Tears live version because you can hear Kurenai in the end of it and Kurenai was only played on the first of the two days.
Well, the thing is that I have recently discovered that also Standing Sex might be labeled wrong. You see, if you listen to the bootleg version of Standing Sex from 1993.12.31 you can clearly hear that Toshi screams "Standing Sex! Sex! Sex!" in the end of it, but in the 1993.12.31 version on LIVE LIVE LIVE he only screams "Standing Sex".

So, here comes the big question, is the 1993.12.31 bootleg labeled wrog or are the songs on LIVE LIVE LIVE labeled wrong? Or is it just Standing Sex and Tears?

General chat / Hitomi Shiratori
« on: October 11, 2007, 05:06:48 PM »
Ok, I've been wondering about this for a while, so here it goes.

WHO IS HITOMI SHIRATORI?? :)
I'm starting to feel a bit annoyed about the lack of information that there is about this person that co-wrote X, Orgasm and Tears...

(I'm begining to think he's Keyser Soze   )

General chat / Demo Tapes
« on: April 10, 2007, 02:23:34 PM »
Hi, I was wondering if anybady knows how many Demo tapes/EP's are there from the indies era? Were they ever released as a CD or something when X became more known?
