hide / Searching for some rare hide photos.
« on: October 27, 2010, 04:39:01 PM »
I was in Yokosuka the other day and this music shop had a hide calender on display. Not sure what year it was, wasn't this years, but the photos were all parodies of movie posters such as Scarface and A Clockwork Orange. Judging by his hair I'm guessing the year of the calendar release was sometime after 1998.

It was pretty cool, but I can't find any images of it online. Anyone have it?

General chat / Paging Yoshiki Discover People
« on: August 21, 2010, 08:10:58 PM »
I'm starting up a mission to get our tickets in form of X Japan tickets.

I've emailed the Yoshiki Discovery people, but I suspect those email addresses are probably dead.

I'll give that a few days before I start moving up the ladder. X's manger, Yoshiki's manger, etc.

In the mean time. If anyone has a copy of the promise that was made, if you saved a screen cap or something, I'd be grateful if you could upload it or email it to me.

General chat / Hiroshi Matsumoto sueing Yoshiki?

Someone just commented on my blog that Yoshiki is being sued by Hiroshi, I was wondering if anyone else had heard about this?

General chat / Japan shows and cameras
« on: August 11, 2010, 01:21:39 PM »
Hey guys, I'm off to both nights of the Yokohama 2 days. In order to best bring you updates, I want to bring my small pocket camera. Can anyone who's been to any of the shows in Japan speak onto if they pat/check for cameras?

Seems pointless in a world with 5mp camera phones, but I HAVE been patted down for cameras at big shows before, and I'm not giving up my 400 dollar camera...

General chat / This "hide Memorial Day", make a difference.
« on: April 24, 2010, 10:59:14 PM »
Hideto Matsumoto was obviously a man built around a super-human image. However, he had his human moments. One of the most memorable (Perhaps due to media coverage, but we won’t get into that) public aspects of his life was meeting and staying in touch with a dying bone marrow transplant patient. Instead of dying, Mayuko recovered for a while. Last September however, she succumbed and passed away.

So this “hide memorial day” if you have money to spare don’t waste it lining the pockets of some record executive. Don’t buy the 23,679th hide special edition collection re-release whatever they bring out. Find a charity, and give. Your money can’t reach hide, but if there is an after-life, your good deed just might.

This website helps find reputable charities: http://www.charitynavigator.org/

If you think this is a good idea, help spread the word.

Ok, so some people are going around telling people that I steal all the X Japan news for Theothereast.net from Darkcat. Well let me set the record straight right here;

1)About half my news comes from Darkcat, he sends it to me directly via MSN, usually its just a link to a Japanese newspaper and I have to figure most of it out myself. This has been going on for over a year, you see Darkcat used to run the Spanish version of TOE but for various reasons stop, now instead of posting articles himself he just sends me links. I've asked him if he wants me to cite him and he tells me he doesn't care. If it makes everyone feel better, I can post "Got the link from Darkcat" every other post. If it bothered him, I think he'd stop linking me to articles. I'll talk to him about it again.

2)A good 40% of my news, especially the stuff you hear on TOE first comes from an un-named industry contact in Japan

3) The remaining 10% I either find or my own, and occasionally someone would throw a link up in the Cbox or in comments.

The quote "most of the news on The Other East (other than his own reviews, opinion pieces, concert reports, etc.) is reposted from other English-language sources." is a load of shit. If I find news on someone else's blog before I find it, I link to it. When I'm citing a newspaper article I try to link to it or post a scan.

Stuff I don't cite is either a)Well known and a sum of many forum posts, b) from an industry contact that I'm not able to name, c) my own research.

So there it is. Believe it, or don't.

News / X Japan has two more songs recorded, more possible

Yoshiki keeps talking about that one song, but it looks like X Japan is working on more then that.

Offtopic / The Likely End of TheOtherEast.com
« on: November 10, 2008, 06:34:11 PM »
Today my domain name expired, my network guy forgot to tell me it was due.  Some polish guy came and bought it. He sent me a BS ransom email saying "I don't usually sell my domain names, I bought this for 1,500$ what will you offer."  For one that's a lie, no way in hell it cost that much, second I investigated this guy and he's squatting on 160 other URLs.

Obviously I can't afford to pay this guy a grand.  So unless some break through happens, TOE will have to be born again.  I somehow doubt he'd settle for a hundred bucks or something.

So just a PSA, anything from the domain theothereast.com is not affiliated with me.

I'm relaunching later today with a new URL, but it's going to be a loooooong way back to building up my reader base who I have no way of informing of what's going on (at least not all of them). I can't really see myself joining the staffs of any other Jrock sites but I'll entertain requests.

I'll keep you all updated

I checked out the people behind Yoshikidiscovery.com and it all seems to check out as legit. Who all signed up? If anyone has a good idea or just wants to help push Jrock in the states. This would be a good place to help.
