Heh cool. :)
I'm guessing what you need most is a pic of the back of the coat to see where and how the two fabrics meet, no?
I can't recall any atm but I'll check some vids to see if he ever wears that outfit then.
Are you also going to make those barely-there pants of his? XD

Yes, that would be optimal - I can catch a kind-of glimpse in Endless Rain, when he is falling down dramatically XD but nothing concrete. But if I could even get a side shot, to see how the side seams go, I can guesswork the rest and at least get it PRETTY accurate. :)

As for the pants... ABSOLUTELY. ;D

Yes, I was aware of that problem when I was uploading. If you want to ask me for a picture in it's full size, I can definitely upload it for you.

Hi! You have a very extensive gallery, I'm impressed :) I've been looking for pictures of a particular Yoshiki outfit for a long time, and you had a great one! I was wondering if you would upload it full-size? (Or, if you have more from that magazine, upload those? :P ) I'm trying to work on a cosplay and I'm gathering as much information as possible about the coat.... anything would be great!

ThanX again, it was awesome of you to post so much!

And to everyone else on X Freaks who remembers me.... hi!! :D Long time no see!

Here is the picture I'm referring to:

Wow, I have never heard of that site. They still have ALL the box sets in stock!! It's the same price, but HMV has this "multibuy" option to make it cheaper. I suppose if you do it that way you can save some money.

They have a lot of nice photobooks and score books, too.... Thanks for the tip! :D

If you haven't already bought this - I suggest you check Amazon.co.jp quickly, as they are the only place I have seen that still has it!! It just went out of print and CDJapan and YesAsia are both out already DD:

I just ordered it from Amazon. Ouch, was NOT planning on spending that much just now... :P

General chat / Re: You know you're addicted to X, when...
« on: February 01, 2009, 08:34:46 PM »
So you would call songs like I'll Kill You comforting!? =D
I actually agree with this! XD I can sleep to any X song because I know them all so well, even if they are fast songs they are familiar and comforting! Haha!

-when you have almost 200 X songs on your iPod (different variations, concerts, etc)
-your walls are covered in pictures of each member
-you set your cellphone wallpaper to Yoshiki
-every time you go to Hot Topic, you run to the magazines and scan them for any mention of X (I actually bought one once, without looking through it, and it turns out there was a mention of X Japan, hide, and lemonED! So I put it on my bulliten board, lol)
-you listen to X every day, and if you don't, you will be very unhappy

And... SOOO guilty of all of these! XD;;

I'd like to add:
- When all of your extra money goes to buy more X stuff, so you are always poor ;n;
- When you have a separate savings account just to save for X stuff and concert(s) (I am starting one! XD)
- When you compulsively check ebay at least a couple times a week for new X stuff, even though common searches are set to alert you to new items via email....
- When you invite your significant other into your room and they suddenly get an odd expression at all the X and Yoshiki posters/other merchandise on the walls and every shelf, and your response is to convert them into an X freak too until they no longer think it's strange!  :D

I'll work on that :D Hopefully by the next time I do it, I'll have time to search out some GOOD makeup... instead of just working with what I have. My wig master friend will oversee the hair improvements too.

Thanks guys, I knew you would have some good constructive criticism!

Albums/Singles / Re: X's worst song
« on: December 05, 2008, 08:08:26 PM »
The X songs that I am more likely to skip than others are... Easy Fight Rambling, Alive, and Forever Love.

The "why" varies.... there's just something about the sound of Easy Fight Rambling that gets on my nerves. :P Maybe it feels too generic. Alive I can enjoy if I am in the mood for it, but if I'm not it's nearly intolerable.

And I'm not sure when I started skipping Forever Love, since when I got into X it was my favorite song. But I think I agree with what others said about cheesiness. Not, of course, that it isn't a good song; I still love it dearly when the time is right - but like Alive, I have to be in the mood for it.

At this moment the winner for me is I.V. I can hear X in it, but to me it seems mainstreamed - maybe because I equate it with Saw IV? Not sure. I think it scrapes an "okay". So far I like Without You a lot more, cheese or no cheese! It sounds like X. :D

And I'll risk being the weirdo here by saying that at first I hated Trance X... but it has in fact GROWN ON ME! DDD: There's a few songs on there I actually like! *runs and hides*

Finally decided to post an update from the actual con... :P

Anime Expo

I was still having a hard time getting that hair to stick up properly. Gah.

My next project is "sea-urchin" Yoshiki - from the Vanishing Vision days! And my best friend will be doing hide. I'm hoping to get a full X cosplay together, but I'm not sure right now about a Toshi or a Heath... think I've talked someone into Pata though!

I'll certainly post pics if/when this happens. It will most likely be done at Sakuracon, which will be in April. :)

:o  Such dedication is seen in X fans... I guess if I could afford it, I would buy it too! XD If it's in good shape, it is definitely worth such a price!

Unfortunately I'm currently saving money in case I have to fly to New York for the Madison Square Garden concert, if/when they reschedule it...

Art of Life Live aka X Japan Returns / Re: 12.30 Celebration
« on: August 13, 2008, 09:51:33 AM »
I didn't want to download any programs that cost money... but I did try anydvd's free trial and it still didn't work. Eventually I just ended up changing the region code of my drive (it was my last available change, so now it's locked to region 2, but oh well... LOL) so it works now, but I'll have to watch US movies with VLC player. :P

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. No comments on hide's silly singing? XD

Art of Life Live aka X Japan Returns / 12.30 Celebration
« on: August 12, 2008, 06:17:37 AM »
I just received my copy of the box set (I know, I'm so late :P But I didn't have the money until I realized CDJapan listed it as out of print!) and I noticed that at the end of Celebration, at the line "Cheers! Congratulations!", Toshi neglects to sing his line, leaving hide embarrassedly murmuring his high-pitched backup vocal by himself!

I laughed pretty hard at that and just wondered if anyone else did, too. XD

Besides that, I seem to have a problem with the DVDs - I have to watch them on VLC player because my laptop has a region coded DVD drive, but the first discs of both nights don't work. The second and third do, but not the first. I hope it isn't a problem with the DVDs themselves! I'm going to try to find a region-free DVD player to test them on soon. But what else do you think I should try? I'm very upset that I can't see the beginnings of the concerts... :(

« on: July 06, 2008, 06:52:32 PM »
He didn't really WANT to be pregnant to start with; he did it because his wife couldn't give birth. I can't imagine how hard it was to be living your life openly as a man, and then having to go through a pregnancy. But he and his wife really wanted children, so he made that sacrifice for them. I think he's very brave and selfless.  :)

Albums/Singles / Standing Sex

Quote from: "MIHO"

In the song itself (so not live) I like the intro the best. Then I get the feeling like "OMG STANDING SEX IS BEGINNING 8DD"

THAT IS EXACTLY HOW I FEEL! :D When I hear that intro I get so ridiculously excited. I always think of the video/interview thing, where Yoshiki is doing the photo shoot for Standing Sex and he's swinging his hair back and forth to the intro beat. It's such a sexy movement, it just sets my whole feel for the song.

...now I have to put that on. :P

You know what's REALLY funny? ...

He's from my state!    I love Oregon.

I don't know what the big deal about it is, though. He still has a uterus therefore is still able to bear children. Makes sense to me.    More than that, I think it's really great that he was able to do that for his wife. It must have been extremely hard for him.

Cosplay / Cinderella Yoshiki cosplaaaaay!
« on: July 04, 2008, 09:03:03 AM »
Today was day one and the wig is still obnoxious in its fickle fluffiness, but the makeup is a bit better (I made a couple slight adjustments) and overall it has been a HUGE hit! I can't believe how many X fans crept out of hiding to take pictures. What an ego boost.

(More pictures when I remember to ask someone to send them to me... on Sunday I'm doing a photo shoot though, I think.)

LOL now THAT would be funny!  :P

I see Yoshiki and hide as lovers, but that does not mean I'm gullible and easily deceived

But I think Yoshiki recently described how he saw hide as "Something like a mother figure." I don't know about you, but I couldn't really see Yoshiki as a "motherfucker."  LOL!  Fangirls may be entitled to their fantasies, but to post them on a forum where we deal predominantly with facts rather than fanfiction, I think true accounts such as this need to be taken into consideration (as Yoshiki seeing hide as a mother figure makes the fantasy, in my opinion, pretty unbelievable).

Cosplay / Cinderella Yoshiki cosplaaaaay!

I debated for a long time whether to make it a fully functioning jacket, as his style tends to be, or an actual dress. It was a tough decision but ultimately when I was looking at the reference pictures for it (not from the Celebration PV, because that's a different dress, but the photos), it looked like a real dress. The only clue that it might be a jacket was the buttons. So I thought it would LOOK more accurate to actually make it a dress, and keep the buttons (which I did :P).

I didn't actually do the sewing because I fail at that, LOL! But I found the patterns and fabrics and accessories etc. while commissioning my friend's mom to do the actual sewing. I had to oversee a lot, though, to check for accuracy, hehe. It took her about two weeks, once we FINALLY found the right fabrics.

And once I get my special tape on (I was saving it for the real con, since I have a limited supply) I am going to open the jacket a bit more. It will be an illusion, but I will indeed appear to have a boobless man-chest! : D

And yes, that is indeed a hula hoop.... I'm at my friend's house.  XD When the con starts, I'll get some quality shots with a better background.

Thank you for all your kind words and nitpicky-ness! (No, I really do like that! Over time I would like to continue improving this costume and your criticisms are necessary for that process. :P)

This is the first "dress rehearsal", so to speak. Day Zero of Anime Expo is tomorrow; I'm going to fluff the wig more and tweak the makeup a bit. But this is it! Tell me your thoughts?  :D

And just for laughs; this happened by accident as I was uploading various images to photobucket:

PS: I think we should have a cosplay section under "fanart". :P

TV / Movies / Anime / Any X Freaks going to Anime Expo this year?
« on: June 30, 2008, 06:32:07 PM »
Yeah, I figured. u_u so many X Freaks live in Europe! It makes me sad that you are all so far away... or I am...

As far as the con atmosphere, it can be hard being a Jrock fan in the midst of a bunch of anime freaks, but there are a select few anime I enjoy as well and I have never had a problem with people at cons; most people I meet are very nice (if clueless). It's a lot of fun to go to a large convention like AX where you have a good chance of meeting people you have things in common with, especially at the Jrock-centered events and such. That's why I go to them - plus it's an excuse to dress up in styles I adore but can't wear every day. :P

And sorry for my lengthy absence, real life has been simply a mess. XD I'll try and be more active.

Oh, is there? It would be better if it was an X-Freaks meet-up. :P And I don't hang around the JRR forums, it's just not the same. But better that than nothing, I suppose. Someday I would like to meet all of you. Maybe someday when I go to Europe... XD

Well, if anybody does want to come and hang out, AX is where you'll find me. If you PM/myspace/msn me, we can exchange contact info and work out where/when to meet up. :D

« on: June 30, 2008, 05:05:01 PM »
Not really offtopic since it's X related, but it didn't fit well anywhere, really. :P I just arrived in LA for this year's Anime Expo. I finished my Cinderella Yoshiki cosplay at long last, and I think it looks pretty good so I'm excited to show it off to somebody who hopefully can appreciate it. I was wondering (I haven't been active here for a while) if there are any other X Freaks in the area, and if they would like to meet up at the con or something.

Either way, pictures will indeed be coming soon.  :D  My hair isn't finished yet, so I'm going to wait until that's done to take some.

Other Bands / Misheard lyrics
« on: May 30, 2008, 09:18:51 PM »
In Motley Crue's Girls, Girls, Girls, I always heard:

"Crazy Horse, Paris France
Forgot their names, remember romance
I've got the bones of another twat..."

And could not for the life of me hear anything else. I knew it was about strip clubs, so I figured that might be it. But it's actually:

"Crazy Horse, Paris, France
Forget the names, remember romance
I got the photos, a menage a trois"

I can't remember any misheard X lyrics at the moment for some reason... If I think of some I'll post. XD

Other Bands / Enough with the word "Jrock"!
« on: April 18, 2008, 08:16:54 PM »
Regarding the term J-rock, I, as someone said before (way before, so I don't remember who, sorry ^^), use it almost exclusively for those who don't know anything about foreign music at all, to signify that I mainly listen to bands by Japanese artists. I agree it should not be classified as a "genre", although I do notice a certain remarkable "difference" between the Japanese bands I listen to and the English bands I listen to. If I'm speaking with someone who is aware that there is music made by people who don't speak English (don't laugh! most US people are really that sheltered!), then I would specify further. I just don't like to make things unnecessarily complicated for people who won't appreciate the nuances.

And about the connection with anime and manga... I am one of those who was introduced to X through the ending theme of the X anime, but I am definitely not a hardcore anime fan by any stretch of the imagination. I really only go to cons for the fun of dressing up as Jrock (here meaning explicitly Japan-born rock, as it would be silly to go to a con as, say, Marilyn Manson) performers and mingling with others who enjoy the Japanese culture and language as much as I do. I highly resent it when people assume that I love anime because I love Japanese rock, and also when they assume I love Japanese rock BECAUSE of anime, when really the two have no connection in my mind.

I also resent it when Japanese bands feel like they can only perform at anime-centered venues. That's the only thing I give the current Dir en grey kudos for: I saw them live in Portland, Oregon at an actual concert hall and it was spectacular! I think more bands should give that a try. (I'm glad X is, with the New York show.)

Thank you very much for the article, it was well-stated and a good overview. In the final, will there be a sources cited index of sorts? I would suggest that, to make it fully credible.

Re Motley Crue and X: two of my favorite bands of all time, and I am perfectly okay that they bear visual and musical similarities. I've been contemplating the connection for a while.    Great pictures!! (I'm definitely a big glam/hair metal fan, hehe) I think it's silly when people are upset that X was influenced - they weren't making music in a void, after all!

I have some new pics... :D

There's some old ones on the old picture thread, but...

So here's me on the equator!! About 2-3 weeks ago. Sorry it's so big, you couldn't see me if I made it smaller... I'll leave that to you, Hypno, if you want to do something to it.

Here was me at my senior prom with my best friend. This was a year ago, though. XD

And just for kicks, this was me Jrocked-out before the Dir en grey concert in Portland.  I think I had this one in the other thread, but I can't remember...

That's all! :D and by the way, I'm doing the Cinderella Yoshiki costume for Anime Expo this year... expect pics from that when it's done! <3
