The Concerts / Re: Has anyone ever met any X Japan members?
« on: February 25, 2010, 09:52:32 AM »
I already mentioned my meeting with Yoshiki earlier in this thread (like, one of the first few posts I think XD). Since then I've also met Sugizo twice. =D The first time was in 2008 when he was here in NYC with Juno Reactor. He and Ben Watkins did a fan meet-and-greet at Kinokuniya. I gave him a drawing of him that I did, and a Darth Vader figure I bought for him when I'd heard Vader was his childhood hero. XD

The second time was last month right after the X Japan video shoot. After the show, me and two other fans I'd met tried to see if we could get permission to go backstage because we had gifts for the band (I had made drawings for each of the members, and they had a flag that looked like hide's heart guitar with a message written on it). After a few minutes, security let us in, and I spotted Sugizo a minute later. =D I thanked him for the guitar pick I'd caught earlier, then gave him the drawing I'd made for him (though because it took a minute for me to find it in the envelope I was keeping my drawings in, Sugi almost had to leave before I could get it out XD"). He smiled and thanked me for the drawing. =D As for the drawings for the other members, some staff members offered to deliver those to the rest of the band. ^^ Along with a photo of me and the other fans so that the band would know who gave them the gifts. XD

Sugizo speaks English very well. He has a bit of an accent, but he's basically fluent. =D

I've heard Toshi can speak English well too. Which would make sense since he sings in English often. ^^

hide also seemed to be pretty fluent. I do wonder if he felt confident speaking in English though; when I went to Necromance and met Nancy, who was working there back when hide had visited, she told me that he only spoke in Japanese to her, and that his brother Hiroshi would translate for him.

And that's the extent of what I know. XD"

This interview is awesome. <3

And I'm so willing to take him up on that girlfriend offer. XD *bricked*

Sugizo / Re: Luna
« on: February 12, 2010, 04:12:26 AM »
This is just my opinion but I believe that the myspace is genuine. Sugizo has put her in his top friends list (which is occupied mainly by fellow musicians, record labels etc, so why would he put her there if she isn't his daughter). Also, even though the picture posted above is obviously of her as a baby, I can still see some similarities in the pcitures she has posted, not many but certainly enough to suggest she could be the same person.

This. Also, the photos on the Myspace definitely seem to be Luna- her eyes look VERY similar to Sugizo's.

Yoshiki / Re: Yoshiki at the 2010 Grammy awards; Lollapalooza news
« on: February 02, 2010, 02:26:07 PM »
Yup, it's definitely Julia! She just got a new haircut and bangs.

And I'm totes booking my flight to Chicago as soon as I get my Lollapalooza 3-Day pass. <3 And I've been wanting to go to Lollapalooza for years, but it didn't work out. XD" This time I have to go no matter what though!

hide / Re: A new official hide book ! "pinky promise"
« on: January 21, 2010, 08:56:46 PM »
The only reason I have -any- interest in this book is because I sent a message to be published and I want to see if it made it into the book. XD"

But...$83?! There'd better be some exclusive material or something in there to justify a price like that. @_@

Toshi / Re: Toshi on the verge of divorce

The Scientology thing was mentioned on XJFP on Myspace: http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=1004216542&blogId=526153048 (you have to add them as a friend to see their blog posts)

They got it from Nikkan Sports, but since their link doesn't work, here's the link to the article in Japanese:
http://www.nikkansports.com/entertainment/news/p-et-tp0-20100117-586486.html

I don't know where the Scientology part came from though, since in their translation they included it as a footnote rather than in their actual translation, and I don't see anything about Scientology in the Japanese version. O_o I'm not fluent in Japanese though, but I figured if it was mentioned it would be in katakana. o.o

hide / Re: hide's necklace
« on: January 13, 2010, 06:40:58 AM »
He designed it himself and was on-sale in the American shop "Necromance" in LA. Unfortunately, the recession has forced Necromance to close... so I'm not sure if you can still buy it anywhere. I got one a couple of years ago, I wore it on stage when I played a gig recently, interestingly enough.

Actually I was just in LA, and Necromance is still open, complete with hidestyle jewelry. =D What happened is that Necromance had two buildings, the original and a second branch a few buildings over. The second branch was moved next door to the original. The spot where the branch used to be is now a lingerie shop of all things. XD

I uploaded all of the photos I took at the X Japan video shoot. =D They're on my Flickr account:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/11223213@N05/sets/72157623066572989

There's also a video clip in there, and I plan on uploading the rest of them to my Youtube account since Flickr is only letting me upload one. XD"

Apparently the director for this video is Dean Karr, the same guy who's behind many videos for Marilyn Manson, Slayer and Megadeth. That's a good sign in my book ;)
Good, good! Very good! That's very promising indeed... :)

As Beauty/Broken said, he also directed the video for Zilch. =D So that makes it even more promising. <3

Yoshiki / Re: Yoshiki attends Astro Boy premiere in LA.
« on: October 21, 2009, 07:37:03 AM »
Dude. Julia Voth is as tall as Yoshiki, maybe even slightly taller! And Yoshiki's, like, 5'10"-5'11"-ish. o.o

Nothing wrong with that, just something I noticed, especially since women aren't usually that tall.

(Also, it's been a while since I posted, though I've been lurking a bit lately. Hi guys. =D)

Offtopic / Re: Religion or whatever you believe in
« on: March 18, 2009, 11:43:08 PM »
Pinku, as Christians, we should fellowship with others in order to grow...

I was raised in both the Quaker (Friends) Church and as a "Freewill" Baptist.  I'm more Quaker but also like to attend First Baptist Churches.

For those who are Atheist, you cannot deny there had to be some Celestial Being(s) create the universe

Okay, first of all, organized religion doesn't work for everyone. Sure, some people get a feeling of community from it and enjoy it- good for them. But then there's people like me who really don't find any meaning or significance in it. To borrow a quote from Pinku, because I couldn't have said this better myself, "I don't see the point of going for a morning mass, sing songs of praises, pray unanimously the prayers on a piece of paper --- say things that are not really in your heart... and worst of all, do all that when all you want to do is SLEEP." I also agree with her that you don't have to go to a church or temple or any other place of worship to be a "true" follower of a religion.

As for the rest of what you've said, you're entitled to believe what you want, however, one thing that really bothers me is when people try to force their beliefs on others. By saying "as Christians, we should..." you're implying that you think all Christians have to do things the exact same way, with no room for free will or free-thinking. If someone wants to be part of an organized religious group, that's one thing, but nobody should ever have to feel forced into it. To put things in perspective, how would you feel, as a Christian, if someone told you that from now on you had to attend services for another religion and follow their ways?

Also, telling Atheists that they "cannot deny" that there is a higher power is another case of forcing beliefs on others. You're basically telling us that we HAVE to think the same way you do. You don't have to change your beliefs, but we don't have to follow them either.

Does anyone know if they played Art of Life in it's entirety? Because I think I heard something somewhere about how they were purposely going to play part of the song at each concert. o.o But if they did play the whole thing, that would be especially awesome. *_*

Two words: Sarah Palin.

Biden was the clear winner of the VP debates tonight, yet the media is acting like Palin won, and even praised her for dodging questions by giving "non-answers" or changing the subject! Seriously America: WAKE UP! Palin is a hypocrite and a liar. She completely distorted facts during the entire debate. And she said that the Constitution was flexible. And you people are PRAISING her for all of this?! WTF.

General chat / Re: Swedish Rapper rips off Crucify My Love
« on: September 15, 2008, 12:39:43 AM »
I wonder if Yoshiki is able to come up with original ideas anymore. :P And again, I say this in this forum for the 249823543895 time, I believe you mean hip hoppers, not rappers, rap=/= hip hop, rap can occur in (almost) ever genre, hip hop is a genre (and a lifestyle) on it's own. And I don't think there is anything truly original anymore, some just repeat something already existing better than others. Sorry but balant rap (or actually hip hop because people think it's the same) hate pisses me off, most people who don't like this kind of music only know some shitty songs/artists from the radio/tv.

Yeah, I guess I did mean hip-hop in this case. XD" And actually, I have heard other rap/hip-hop artists outside of the mainstream, and some of them are fine. Heck, a few years ago even the kind that was on the radio/TV was okay, but in recent years, most mainstream rap/hip-hop sounds pretty much the same to me: bland, uninspired, and in some cases even blatantly ripping off other artists. D=

And madrigal, I'd be curious to see the translation. ^^ If he really wasn't involved, then I forgive him because then it wasn't his fault. However, that would make me upset with the producer, or whoever else was involved in the ripping off of Crucify My Love. D=

Yeah, I'm sure if Yoshiki found out about this he'd totally sue that guy. XD

I mean, it's bad enough when a rap artist uses part of a song for their own "song" instead of coming up with something original (I wonder if rappers are even able to come up with original ideas anymore) , but to use an ENTIRE SONG by someone else as the basis of their own? That's just not right. D= Especially when they rip off X Japan.

Like someone else said, it would be one thing if this guy was doing it for fun or something, but when he makes it into a song with the intent of selling it and doesn't even credit Yoshiki, that's downright low. @_@

Offtopic / Re: The political climate in your country
« on: September 07, 2008, 05:43:05 PM »
In America, there's two main political parties- Democratic (Liberal, but sometimes centralist/moderate), and Republican (Conservative. We also have Neo-conservatives like Bush, who are right-wing religious people and also total idiots IMO). There are third parties, but they're in a huge minority, even though according to Wikipedia there's apparently a lot of them. XD" The main third parties are the Green Party (liberal), the Libertarian Party (Socially liberal, but economically conservative), and the Constitution Party (which up until now I haven't heard of, but according to Wikipedia, they're apparently somewhere between Libertarian and conservative, or "paleoconservative"). There's also the Independent Party (as the title implies, independent voters who don't associate themselves with any of the parties).

I consider myself a very liberal Democrat. I would never vote Republican because I strongly disagree with their views, and I'm embarrassed that the people of this country managed to elect Bush into office not once, but twice. D= Especially since he's by far the Worst. President. Ever.

The Presidential election is coming up in November, and I support Obama all the way. McCain has voted in agreement with Bush 90% of the time while in the Senate (so much for being a "maverick" like he claims =P), and his running mate, Sarah Palin, absolutely terrifies me. I'm all for a woman in office, but not one with whom I vehemently disagree on every issue (and who might even be worse than Bush!). D= Not to mention because McCain is old and doesn't have a great health record, there's a legitimate chance that something could happen to him, and then she'd be President. X_x

Yoshiki / Re: Alive, moving
« on: September 02, 2008, 07:09:34 PM »
I'm glad to see that. =D Yoshiki is awesome for being involved in so many charity projects. <3

By the way, I spotted him last month when I went to Los Angeles to see Glay. =DDD He was wearing a Repo! The Genetic Opera baseball cap. XD And he was there with some assistant lady (an older Asian woman with blonde hair). I wanted to talk to him, but I also didn't want to disrupt him while he was trying to enjoy the concert. XD" So I decided to wait for the point between the "last song" and the encore, but he left way before then. D=

Yoshiki / Re: Repo... limited release?
« on: August 12, 2008, 10:37:03 PM »
Yeah, I read on the Repo forums that someone met Terrance Zdunich (the guy who plays the role of Graverobber, and also one of the people who wrote the original script along with Darren Smith. He also draws the comic book animation sequences, I think =D), and Terrance said that it's only being released in TEN theaters across the nation. D= New York and LA are definites, and possibly San Fransisco, but they had to fight to even get that far. @_@

So yeah, we need to spread the word about Repo as much as possible so it'll get the wide release it deserves!

And if you go to the official Repo website, they're selling Repo merch now, so buying some would be a good way to promote the movie. XD

hide / hide Bible!
« on: August 05, 2008, 01:48:04 AM »
So, does anyone else have this book? =D I got my copy in the mail today, and it's really excellent! There's tons of gorgeous pictures of hide, including some I've never seen before (and believe me, I've seen a LOT of hide pictures XD), and as you've probably heard, yes, it does have interviews about him with each member of X Japan. =D Surprisingly, the shortest interview isn't Pata's, but Yoshiki's. Pata's is about 3-5 pages long, while Yoshiki's is literally one page front and back. o.o Then again, it's probably still difficult for Yo-chan to talk about hide. ;_;
But anyway, it also has interviews and comments from other people who knew hide (Spread Beaver, Sugizo, J, and even cameramen to name a few examples), and even people who didn't know him personally (namely a lot of more recent Jrock bands). =D There's also a discography, mini-timeline, and "hide dictionary". XD
Of course, all of this is in Japanese. XD" But to anyone who can read it, I'm sure it's a very valuable resource. =D
