General chat / Re: Do you think the new album will come out in 2019?

Don't think it will be released anytime soon, so I voted No.

Other Bands / Re: Luna Sea - which album should I listen to?

You can very well start with the older records. I'd begin with their debut album or 'Image' and if you like it continue from there on and listen to their sound evolve (and also the change in Ryuichis voice ;) ).

One of the more famous bands of that genre should be 'The Sisters of Mercy'.

Lots of great bands listed above, but I have to go with Guns N' Roses, one of my favorite (sometimes even my favorite) band of all times.

Of the bands shown in the poll I'd chose Luna Sea.

Song sounds okay, nothing special (neither in a good nor bad way).

Good.
Although Sugizo seems to have gotten the short end of the stick ;)

True, the interludes we probably wouldn't hear before the album is released, but I don't really consider them as seperate songs/or something I'm looking forward to that much. They may work well when listening the album in its entirety, but as a stand alone song, don't know... + it may take away recording space on the album that could be used for another song. ;)

BTW, band is tracking guitars at the moment, wonder for what song.

While I am still curious how the song will sound ... to be honest ... the recent news i.e. ballad, no Toshi are a huge let down for me and yes, I am disappointed by the news, I was expecting something else.
Of course, at the end it's my fault for getting my hopes up.

What's starting to worry me more and more is the fact, that if the album will be released in the distant future it may include only songs we've already heard.

I also think it is irritating that he hasn't mendioned it on his twitter account.

Not too thrilled about calling it X Japan when only Yoshiki and Sugizo are involved + it being a ballad.

So far I've only watched the first season of AoT but that one I liked. A new song is also always something to be happy about, but still ... have to say I was expecting a little bit more. Seems I'm now forced to binge watch the second season. ;)

As this announcement is not the one we were expecting to get on July 8th I'm still looking forward to the one in july. ;)
Him performing at Lunatic Fest is okay I guess. Although as an attendant I'd prefer a rock performance instead of a piano one.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

"New album"...

In all seriousness I'll take whatever at this point. If it materializes with a MM collaboration, then cool, at least its out

Second that.

You can also watch the full band videos of the two performances:

Kurenai

Silent Jealousy

and yeah, her performance is pretty good. The rest of the people is also doing a nice job.

Not the biggest Manson Fan, but I like some of this songs + a duet with him and Toshi could turn out good. A couple of times he played with the Pumpkins and it wasn't bad at all.

Thanks for the link. Gonna watch it during the weekend.

While Richard is a workhorse and got the skills to play their songs I'm not sure if there would be enough time for him to learn the songs.
Hopefully Sugizo's visa issues got resolved and he's able to perform. Would be a huge let down to have them play without him.

The title of the concert doesn't really bother me.
Curious how the gigs are gonna turn out. The addition of Richard and Wes makes it a little bit more interessting to me, but here it depends how they are gonna be used and if they are allowed to show more of their skillset.

General chat / Re: question : did sugizo really play hide part of guitar?
« on: February 02, 2018, 07:19:09 PM »
Sugizo is a professional, so I'm pretty sure he would have been able to handle all of the guitar duties when they embarked on a longer tour. So as everyone here pointed out, there were (and maybe still are) other reasons for using the playback every now and then.

And yeah, would be nice to have Pata and Sugizo contribute more, or have more and longer guitar solos in general, but that's a personal preference. ;)

I still can't get over the mental image of the band in full blown Coachella apparel.

I don't think it's a necessity to dress in any particular kind of way, at least GNR didn't do that in 2016. ;)

Great that they are performing at a festival. Although I would have preferred them to perform at a more rock/metal kind of festival ... on the other hand, GNR played there in 2016 and it worked out good.

24
Thanks for the videos. Looks and sounds really great, would pay some good money to experience that live. ;)

25
Thanks for the info. I agree with you, if he's not able to play drums yet, play an acoustic rendition of some songs ... or bring in Shinya for the drum and stick to the piano.

General chat / Re: 10 best X-Japan songs according to Yoshiki
« on: November 09, 2017, 04:12:41 PM »
While a lot of these songs wouldn't appear on my favorite song list I'm not surprised he choose these songs and I believe that they are his favorite songs at the moment, otherwise he wouldn't write and record them. ;) Also curious about how 'heavy' La Venus will sound on the album and what Yoshikis definition of heavy is nowadays.

Thanks for the facebook link, song sounds good.

Ryuichi's singing stlye I got used to pretty quick, whom it really took me a while is Kamijo (and masa lol).

With Ryuichi the only thing I'd complain (and that's way too hard of a word) is that his voice (or the way he uses it) changed a lot from his early days. For example compare the same song from
1992

to
2012

At the end of the year Luna Sea will release their new album 'LUV'. While I didn't love every song from their last record it was still a decent record and some songs I really like, i.e.

Rogue

so I'm still looking forward to their new album.
