I guess it comes down to whatever contract they had and that maybe Toshi couldn't stop the release even if he wanted?

No word from him about the release...I am not even surprised.
Pata didn't either, but he isn't that active on Twitter.
Sugizo didn't post anything either.

Even the "official" announcement sounded so "formal".
Everything about it is super weird.

Yeah, is odd. Why even put it out now?

It is possible Toshi doesn’t care about this considering the vocals would have been put on years ago. I hope that’s not the case

Tickets are reasonable. Purchased 3 and am hoping my college buddy can make this! I got him into X years ago and have been wanting to attend an X show with him since. This is a great opportunity!

This will be my second time seeing Yoshiki or any other member since the X Japan show I saw all those years ago in 2010

General chat / Re: Did Toshi screw up X Japan again?
« on: May 16, 2023, 06:18:05 PM »
I remember an interview where Yoshiki said that bringing X to the west was hard because of many things, including "one member which doesn't care about touring worldwide" or something like this.

Heath is the only one who nobody knows anything about him besides X. What is he doing? Why is he the only one who doesn't have any social media at all?
Pata was late, but at least he is now active on Instagram. But Toshi is a weird case. He deleted all photos and mentions about X from his social media, from his website, from his blog, which are all only in japanese. Yoshiki and Sugizo posts are japanese and english. Sugizo is the newest member and yet he still presents himself as "guitarist of Luna Sea and X JAPAN". Damn, even Maiko presents herself as "keyboardist for X JAPAN" on her social media and sometimes posts in english and replies X fans who asks her questions.

Why in hell Toshi, one of the founding members, pretends X never existed? I always thought the "member who didn't care about touring worldwide" was Heath because he is too quiet, but sometimes I think it may be Toshi...

It’s clear something happened in 2018 and that’s all probably a reaction to it. Hopefully, Angel’s release means some kind of compromise was met between the two parties (Yoshiki and Toshi). If so, it can pave the way for the record or future music. Who knows if they will play again, though. Either way, I hope this is a step in the right direction

I am hoping (again) for the best. Let’s hope they figured their relationship out and can return as X again with the album and some shows

As long as we get Kiss the Sky someday, I’m good. Would love the album as closure, but that’s the only song that I feel like would be worth all the drama and waiting. We will see

I hope Angel is pretty different from the live versions. In “We are X” it was alluded that it would have more guitars. Fingers crossed

If that’s true I fully expect 2018 was an audition for Hyde to become X’s singer

For a generic Yoshiki pop song it’s be ok but the We ArE tHe RoCkStArS really ruins it

Song snippets were pretty lame. Disappointing it’s another new project and the X album is still unreleased. That being said, this might be my best shot at seeing Yoshiki with my friend. Got him into X over a decade ago and he didn’t get to see them with me. Might fly to NY

Re mastered back catalog isn’t a bad idea. Their music isn’t the easiest to find nowadays

I believe it’s done tbh. He probably isn’t releasing it because the band is inactive. Maybe he is hoping they will be active again, who knows

Never say never. I wish them all well and hope for legacy sake they can go out on good terms. I was harsh on Yoshiki for many years as a frustrated fan, but obviously I don’t know him or any of them personally. I can only hope we have some positivity with the band at some point. I want the album for completions sake!

Even just another blowout finale would be good! A final live show at the Tokyo Dome (sound familiar?) with an album release as their fair well would be better than nothing! I would love to get Kiss the Sky still

General chat / Will X return?
« on: October 28, 2021, 02:21:39 AM »
Hey everyone! Hope all of you are doing well! Seems like there has been no activity since 2018. Pretty understandable considering, but is there any indication that X will come back since day?

I know I can be a sour puss, but I’d love to see them back together again. Those snippets of Kiss the Sky last year sounded awesome!

Yoshiki / Re: Why hasn't Yoshiki released a new album?
« on: December 02, 2020, 02:41:57 PM »
I'm an X pessimist but I wouldn't say the reunion was for nothing

Over the past 15 years, they still played dozens of shows including their first ever international tour (even if it's execution left a lot to be desired). Lots of fans got to discover and see them because of that, and their reformation has kept the brand alive in some way. They also released a few official studio songs, which although isn't as good as an album, is better than nothing I guess.

The reunion has been a let down because of what it could be based on Yoshiki's proclaimed vision, but it's still good it happened imo

Kiss The Sky sounds amazing! It is exactly what a reunited X in the modern age should sound like based on those clips!

Toshi's voice sounds killer, the bass line rocks, there is actual heavy guitars, progressive and pop pieces, and the piano and guitar solos sound superb. I almost cannot believe what I heard.

I am eating words from what I said in the past, we NEED this song!

General chat / Re: X Japan : On the verge of destruction, AGAIN
« on: January 06, 2020, 03:44:21 AM »
Its pretty clear something bad happened. That explains why Yoshiki said the album was done but couldnt be released.

Whatever it is, it's a very dissapointing ending. Especially after the optimism presented at the end of "We Are X", it's very sad fhe reunion basically limped on crutches for 10 years and then fizzled out with a complete whimper. The Red Swan incident is utterly bizarre, and its possible it was in response to something as opposed to a misguided decision out of nowhere. It seems Yoshiki was testing the waters to see if Hyde could replace Toshi.

I hope they reconcile to salvage their personal relationships, and can do a final tour and release the album. It would let the band end with some dignity. If not, its sadly fitting and symbolic that their last show was played to an empty arena.
