Toshi / Re: Toshi solo vids
« on: September 18, 2011, 10:11:37 PM »
If this has been posted, I'm sorry. These are from the "Masaya period", but because it's the Beatles and not Home of Hearts, I'm putting them here anyway.
Toshi's English (especially in Help) seems way better to me than the pronounciation recently. Anyone who has any explanations for that?

Yoshiki / Re: Yoshiki officially on twitter!

correct me if i am wrong, but it seems to me that it's the norm in Japan that people won't pick up things that others drop and keep it for themselves. They even try their best to return it.

I don't have the experience myself because I never experience losing thing in Japan. But I heard a lot of stories about people losing their valuable stuff in Japan and will be able to get them back sooner or later because either others won't pick them up or people who pick them up would try their best to return the thing. There's even news report that after the earthquake this year, people who picked up others' valuable stuff would return them to police station or the government and that accumulates to nearly 3.8 billion JPY in less than 5 months.....So I guess it's more of a cultural difference when it comes to people's perception on this choker thing. Japanese people have expectation on this kind of matter that people from other countries may not understand.

That does make more sense now. Thank you.
I wouldn't blame the fan though. For all she knew, he could've thrown it into the audience at some point. After all, they don't expect them to return the water bottles, they always throw in there :D

If I found something on the floor I wouldn't really think that there's a problem with picking it up and keeping it. If the owner asks for it to be returned you'd obviously give it back (what she's apparently done) but no need to overly stress about it, especially if you're sort of rich...
I doubt many people would think much of it, when finding something on the floor at a rock concert of a band who's known for throwing stuff in the audience.
Also Yoshiki should just stop being a drama queen and doing stage diving. If he'd do it every now and then, ok but at every single concert?

X JAPAN World Tour / Re: X JAPAN's world tour plans for 2011
« on: September 15, 2011, 11:51:06 PM »
I think you guys might be reacting a bit too harsh. To me in a live concert it doesn't really matter if not every single note is perfect. If I'm completely honest, I wouldn't really notice it during the live. Of course it's a completely different story if you're watching footage of it in front of your computer. The most important thing for a live concert is the feeling it brings to the fans who are watching it live. And those people will not have the time/can't be bothered to watch and listen like a hawk waiting for a mistake to be made.
It's not fair to compare live footage taken by the audience on phones and small cameras to those DVDs of past concerts. Those are heavily remastered and thoroughly doubt that hide played the solo's perfectly every single time. I might even go as far as saying that it's nearly impossible to both play perfectly and give the audience a good show. And at the end of the day it's more important that the people who came to see them enjoy the experience.

Pretty good quality. There's also a vid of X.

I think he only meant that they're filming the show (which is what they're doing with every show they play anyway)

He didn't say it's gonna come out on DVD as well. (Although I'd greatly appreciate if every singlie show of the World Tour became availiable...would pay pretty much anything to get my hands on professional footage of the London gig just to relive the whiole thing)

Haha, ok maybe they went to have the chance on one last legal trip to the coffee shop. Although Amsterdam would have probably been the more obvious place to have the concert then. :D
Nope, you're close though. Born and raised in Germany, literally 5 minutes from the Dutch border. Only moved to the UK because of university last October. Never seen the insede of one of those infamous coffee shops (although no one ever believes be considering where I come from :D ).

haha, coffee shops are only for people with a Dutch passport nowadays. I think they changed that a couple of months ago.

The CD is listed on Amazon now. I wish someone would put some songs on youtube or something. I'm kind of curious wether it turned out ridiculous or actually ok.

Taiji / Re: taiji is arrested in the U.S.?
« on: July 17, 2011, 11:41:34 PM »
Hailing suicide is hailing putting your own fear of the world over the grief and sadness you're causing those that love you.
I respect Taiji and I will always remember him as an amazing bassist but there is no way, I will ever be able to respect him for this. Sorry.

Important / Re: It seems that Taiji passed away...........
« on: July 17, 2011, 03:24:17 PM »
Not another one, not in this way :(
I had my hopes up to see him with X again.

Believe me it does matter a lot to know wether it's suicide or not. Especially for relatives.
I had a close friend pass away earlier this year and for a long time it wasn't entirely clear if it was suicide or an accident. I can't even begin to describe the relief when we heard it was an accident. It may not be able to help with the pain but knowing can put your mind at rest, at least a little bit.

Sugizo / Re: Interview avec SUGIZO

Not fluent enough in French, sorry. But if there's no one else who can do it I could tell you the gist of the X Japan related stuff if you're interested.

19
Haha it was like the first website where I read up on them after stumbling over one of X's youtube vids. Totally agree with elanor, thanks a lot!

Sounds like it was an amazing concert again. Wish I could've been there but after the reception they got in Europe I'm sure they'll be back. Probably with a gig in Spain considering how many spanish fans there were around.

Argh, why can't they do the one in London a couple of days later or the ones in Germany earlier? Sometimes I hate the way I'm living...
Considering my luck I'm surprised I didn't miss X as well.

Art of Life started with a prerecorded piano track and then Yoshiki joined in on piano doing the piano solo.

It was not prerecorded, there was someone actually playing a second piano, behind Yoshiki's piano. I think it was Ina (from Spread Beaver). Remember when they were testing the instruments after Japanese Voyeurs left, they tested that piano and someone shouted "Why the fuck there is a second piano?".

Thanks, I'll edit that!

@Kaunis: Yup, I loved the sort of beard he had. Also I at one time, whent the Yoshiki shouting got a bit too much, I screamed his name as loud as I  could. I doubt he could hear me though :(

Also there's this video on Reuters:

Apparently they met Toshi and Yoshiki on the platform (according to xplosion's twitter). That's so cool, I want updates on that!!! :)

25
Yep I loved the PG tips comment. That's exactly how I felt when I first came to England. :D

@Ulquiorra & vash-chan
you must have been pretty close to where I was standing then. Saw a (sort of) tallish girl with a hoodie that had gears on the back by any chance?
I only noticed that he stage dived because of all the commotion going on there and the faces of the security guys.
I'm still completely flashed by the concert. So much fun! Anyone wanna take me to Paris? :P

My report on the concert, it’s not perfect but I wanted to write it down asap so I don’t forget anything. Also I was down in the pit so probably didn’t catch everything because it was quite hard to see most of the band except for Yoshiki and Toshi. Had a really good view on Heath and Pata at the beginning though but didn’t see that much of Sugizo except for his solos.

I got to the venue at about 5ish and the queues were already massive. Didn’t have that much fun while waiting unfortunately as I was in between two groups who were happy with talking among themselves. But that wasn’t much of a problem as it were only just over two hours until we were let in.

Shepherd’s Bush Empire is a really nice venue (I like it a lot anyway) and the whole interior was quite fitting for an X Japan show. The support band came up late and their sound wasn’t the best (I don’t think they got the chance to do a proper soundcheck) but they were surprisingly good. They are not really the kind of band I’d normally listen to but luckily everyone was very nice to them and clapped and screamed for them. I think they enjoyed their thirty minute set and I’m glad, nothing like with the North American support band happened.

After they finished it took about another 40 minutes (I think) until X Japan came on (around 9ish) a lot of ‘We Are X’ shouting was going on in the meantime which was a good thing because it distracted me from the increasing back pain due to standing for what seemed ages. It started with the new intro and everyone started to get really excited. I started out being in 5th row approximately and had quite a good view for the most part. When Jade came on everyone went mental (literally)! It was really good and there was a lot of energy in the crowd and on the stage. At some point it got a bit difficult because of all the people shoving and jumping but it was part of the experience in a way. Rusty Nail was pretty good as well (although I was a bit disappointed they didn’t play Week End instead), would have preferred the Japanese version cause I don’t really know the English lyrics bit it was fun anyway.

Then there was Silent Jealousy with the intro by Toshi and Yoshiki. Toshi let us sing quite a few lines and they seemed really happy that so many people knew the lyrics.
The shoving got pretty bad at this point though and I didn’t mind that I slowly but steadily went further to the back as the show went on(at the end of the show I was a bit in front of the middle I think). I had my experience of being so close to them and a bit further back it was easier to enjoy the music. Also I’m quite tall for a girl I suppose so I still had a decent view most of the time. The people further back were all really considerate and nice as well. Just the two girls who were taken up to their friends shoulders pissed me off a little bit. They obstructed the view for everyone else and one of them also kept making out with her boyfriend while the band was playing…
Then it was time for Drain which is not one of my favourite songs but was a nice tribute to hide. It also gave everyone the chance to calm down for a bit and save some energy for what was to come.
The Sugizo violin solo was beautiful and quite long I think, it then went into the Kurenai intro together with Yoshiki. I would have liked to hear Toshi sing it but it was very nice anyway. Kurenai was really good. Toshi’s voice was almost flawless and everyone really felt it.
Born to be free came up after that and was surprisingly good. I didn’t like it that much so far but it worked really well live and everyone went crazy again.

Then the I.V. intro bit must have been one of the most beautiful moments of my life. Toshi took the flag some fans made and waved it around/put it around his neck. I think I’ve seen photos of the flag being uploaded somewhere but don’t remember. It’s basically the Union Jack with the X Japan logo on it and I think some written messages. They seemed to love that flag and were fiddling around with it later on as well. Singing along with everyone for the intro was so nice and definitely one of my highlights.
For X after that everyone went mental. I was surprised that not that many people did the X jump. Could be a misconception though and might be due to the limited space in the pit. After that Yoshiki dived into the crowd. I’m pretty annoyed as he went exactly where I was standing at the very beginning but I’d probably be bruised like crazy if I had still been there. The faces of the security guys who pulled him out again were hilarious though. Like literale ‘what the hell did he do that for??’ :D.

After that, the band left and again, there was a lot of ‘We Are X’ shouting going on. The break felt pretty long even if it was only about 20 minutes I think. Also a lot of people were shouting for ‘Endless Rain’. When Yoshiki and later Toshi came back there was a really nice speech. Definitely find it on youtube (). It was very emotional and Yoshiki was talking about hide always playing with them and everyone shouted their names. But better watch it yourself. We were also shouting for Endless Rain and if I’m not mistaken Yoshiki grinned a bit and nodded at one point.

There’s not much to say about Endless Rain, as always everyone was singing along for ages and the band looked really emotional about the reception. It was beautiful but I don’t think there’s much I need to say about it.
Art of Life started with a second piano player (possibly INA) playing the piano solo and then Yoshiki joined in on piano doing the piano solo. At one point, when everyone started clapping I think he shook his head as if to tell people to stop. Not entirely sure if I made it out correctly from where I was standing, maybe should check some recordings. Then the band joined in and did the last part of Art of Life, which is – as we know – a pretty epic song.
That was the last song unfortunately and Forever Love S.E. started playing. Loads people sang along and the band was throwing water bottles into the crowd and took pictures of themselves in front of everyone.
Would have loved to catch a bottle of water they threw in the crowd but the closest I got was being hit by the cap of one of them. :D

Overally I’m feeling so lucky and honour to have had the opportunity to see them in such a small and intimate venue. It was the first time I ever saw any of them in person and not on a screen and I can’t even say which was the best moment as there were so many. Singing along with Endless Rain, Toshi waving the Union Jack/X flag throughout IV intro, Yoshiki’s and Toshi’s speech, Silent Jealousy intro or Pata sort of grinning the whole time during Jade and Rusty Nail (couldn’t really see him after that much unfortunately). They seemed so happy and grateful for the reception we gave them and I really hope they’re coming back to London sometime.
I wish I could thank them in some way for this amazing experience.

Wow, what an insane night. Just came back from clubbing after the concert (friend's birthday). My back is killing me but it was so worth it.
Toshi's voice was really great and the atmosphere was like nothing I ever experienced before.
Will write something longer tomorrow or on thursday. Need to sleep now!

Oh dear :( let me know on here if you find out anything please. Will make my way in about an hour I think. Depending on the weather of course :D
