Title: Toshi Live - Asakasa blitz
Post by: denx on February 22, 2010, 08:40:02 AM
we should start this topic now. only 2 days away from the concert.

any news about the setlist? or concert ticket (sold out or not)??

Well, I didn't get tickets despite 2 attempts (not by me directly, by the way).  Can we assume the tickets are therefore sold out?

Setlist?  No idea.

And, as I asked in a previous post, anybody hosting it for downloading?

It is going to be quite interesting as to what songs Toshi will be performing. It was announced that he will perform all the songs on his last solo CD, but other than that....nothing. We know that X Japan members will be there, but will any of X Japan's songs be played? To me, the only logical reason to play any X songs would be towards the end of the concert, to show progression from doing solo work to only working on X Japan, like Toshi said he would.

As to weather he will perform any Masaya composed work? Who knows, but I hope he does at least sing a few healing songs, particular from his pre X reunion healing era, where his voice was absolutely beautiful. Some T-Earth songs would be nice too....if they were shortened from 200 minutes of song down to around 4~5.

I am also hoping that he performs some 90's solo work. If this is the end of his solo career then he should definately include some material from the 90's. He had some excellent music back then and, whats more, he composed and wrote lyrics too.

As for the actual concert; I know it will be broadcast online and be available for download but it would be nice if there was a DVD release or CD of it. (With Yoshiki producing, there might be...but we all know it may take a few years, maybe even a decade to come out. I am happy to wait :D)

Tanabata: I realized that I might have given the impression on the other thead that I would be able to host the concert. Unfortunately I live in New Zealand, so I might find it a bit difficult. I am sure though that if you keep an eye on YouTube that some clips might show up. Also pretty positive to see a download of the concert show up on the X Boards forum over the next few weeks too.

No, mC, you didn't give me that impression and I'm sorry that I gave you the impression that you gave me that impression (boy, that's a complicated sentence!).  I just thought I'd add to the "hint".

Anyway, I've purchased the download from DMM.  So, I will watch it after the concert (I'll go and hang around outside the venue after work so I won't watch it live).  I will be able to watch it for 30 days and then it expires.

I don't think he will perform Masaya songs, since what has passed recently.
I think his new songs from samurai japan mini cd, mayby old songs of him (I hope sooo) and than it seems logical to me that he will end up singing X song, since it is 'ending solo carriere and focussing totally on X after that.
T earth songs are Masaya songs too, so I don't thing there will be T-earth songs.
We can only wait and see....

Tanabata, I hope for a wonder for you that you could see the concert if you are hanging on there after work...

Tell us all about it please when you have seen it online...

Yes, I'll tell everyone about "hanging around outside because I didn't get a ticket...sob, sob" and I'll also tell them about the concert when I get a chance to watch the download.  :)   I'm super busy so be patient.

I'm not so familiar with Toshi's solo work, to be honest.  I'm quite content with X that I haven't really followed their solo careers.  I'm most curious as to whether or not they play any X songs.

Just got home, and this is sounding great! I am so excited that it is being broadcast online because there will be copies up in a few days and I can't wait to get my hands on some vids! Glad that Made in Heaven was sung, I just hope that Toshi sung in a similar style as to the way he used to sing those 90's songs.

Also very interested in hearing what the VUK song will sound like with Toshi on vocals.

Haha, how crazy has this concert been!!! It really does seem to be all the solo projects then the coming together of X Japan! Hopefully they don't just do one ballad (a couple of heavier songs would be awesome) - but hey the concert has already well exceeded my expectations so I can't complain! Can't wait for somone to upload the footage, will be fantastic to watch. Hopefully there will be a DVD release as well!

Dunno... it's just my impression. They use songs drom different eras of X's history (and the time when X was disbanded) and putting them together that way is like they tell a story about the dreams of young musicians they were back when they formed X, then the time when Toshi has left X and they followed their solo carreers more or less and now are back together as X

I'm currently at Uni so I have little time to post right now but, looking at the setlist it seems like it was an awesome concert, and I wonder what the theatrics with "physically saving Toshi from dangers" was like? I'll also try and find youtube videos over here if I can.

Wow, you all gave us a blow by blow description...well, almost.

Well, I went and hung out outside the venue.  It felt miserable watching people with their tickets in their hot little hands.  Friends meeting up in front of me, smiling, one giving another their ticket and then entering through the golden doors of Akasaka Blitz.  I was oozing jealousy and, well, like I said, it was miserable.

There really wasn't much to take photos of.  Not so many people in X regalia but I did get a few shots.  It was not the best lighting.  There was a super cute Yoshiki look alike (Yoshiki these days, not with long hair).  Very nice  :-*

From tomorrow I can watch it on the DMM archive.  Problem is I don't have time to really watch it and by the time I do I'm sure all you clever tech savvy fans will have found many ways to watch it.  And, as I said before, I'm not so much into the solo works of any of the members so I probably won't know what I'm talking about!

To have been so close yet so far... :'( :'( :'(

I'll "dry my tears with love" and then after watching it on DMM (it's not available until tomorrow night, 6pm, and I won't get home until after 11pm so no chance of seeing it too soon) I'll "say anything" I want about it.  I'm so glad you could "feel my pain" because there was "nothing I could do" about not seeing it live.

Okay, I'll stop with all the melodramatic Yoshiki lyrics!

And, yes, Ann...the concert is well and truly over.  People started coming out somewhere between 8.30 and 8.45 so it only went for 2 hours or so (if it actually DID start at 6.30...hmmm...you know X....often late).

Post by: Tanabata on February 24, 2010, 05:32:03 PM
Yes, asking people who actually saw it.  Okay, here's the problem....

I really wanted to ask people but I felt awkward doing so.  I'm not a shy person but I hate when I speak to people here and they look at me funny (I guess it's the foreign factor).  To protect myself from feeling "rejected" I tend not to approach people.  I want to think of all X fans as cool so if I feel the slightest rejection it will leave me with a bitter taste.

Now, that might all sound rather silly and sensitive but that's my personality.  So, that said, I didn't ask anyone.  I heard some girls on the train talking about it but if I had joined in they might have thought I was an idiot or something.  I wouldn't mind if I had been with another person but as none of my friends are into X it's always a solo effort. ;D

Also, I don't look like an X fan (whatever an X fan looks like!).  I mean, I look more like I might listen to The Carpenters than X!

Oh god, why is Toshi wearing that white fluffy reveal half my chest flamboyant coat from the pv shooting, if this becomes the norm, as in, wearing that at U.S concerts, they're f**ked.

Its like he's wearing a ballroom/wedding dress ffs XD.

Okay just found tons of new info on a myspace blog, someone who actually watched it on DMM, first I'll say it turns out that Toshi only wore that white coat for Forever Love and Endles Rain, however I do not want to see that coat at all even for a second at a U.S concert. Also, I havn't heard much of Heath & Pata's recent or old songs, but this report says only Acoustic versions of their solo songs were played, so if Eagle Sniper and Pata's song were actually rock songs then well, sorry guys.

Anyway here's the new info from the blog, be aware that usually when people report things they get a lot of it wrong:

http://blogs.myspace.com/mxyo

"highlights:
- the live pretty much was on time, maybe 10mins late
- Toshi for most of the show was in his X Japan character, at the end he was more formal in thanking everyone for their support
- Unnamed Song with Sugizo on violin was a surprise, Toshi made a few lyrical mistakes but his voice was great
- Heath's new song Eagle Sniper sounded really good with Toshi vocals
- YOSHIKI'S new nickname is 'messenger dove', because he is organising all the other members parts while they are in Russia, Brazil and Japan
and LA.. so he has to contact all of them.
- YOSHIKI Mced in parts and said that TOSHI wasn't the original vocalist of X, and that they all auditioned even YOSHIKI (he said his voice was too high pitched) and they decided TOSHI was the best out of them
- Forever Love with Sugizo on violin was a nice arrangement
- During Endless Rain Sugizo changed from acoustic guitar to violin for
the solo (hide's solo was on violin!)
- Surprise: hide wasn't featured at all musically, although during the MCing between the members they brought up memories of the past and hide was mentioned
- Overall it was a very powerful and touching performance by Toshi. Vocally he was at his best. especially in his new album song and Forever love
- YOSHIKI was asked by TOSHI 'What's next with X Japan?'..he hinted that they should do a warm up concert in LA! (all the fans screamed for them to play in japan..and they joked about Sendai having beef tongue and Saitama having..nothing!;))
- YOSHIKI said that they will do things gradually and that this concert wasn't to be mistaken as an X concert as its Toshi's live... he also said he isn't in shape to play the drums
- For the X Japan songs (Forever love/Endless Rain) Toshi changed clothes and wore the white top and black pants that he wore for the Hollywood PV filming
- Although the set list was short there were lots of crowd participation and LOTS of talk between the members.. almost 30mins of talk after the whole band came out to play Forever love.

...thats about all I remember. Toshi's new album songs sound good! check it out if you can!

D

yeh very interesting that the stage and set were VERY minimalistic.
No screens no backing. Just the acoustic setup, lighting and the piano.

Also the mirror ball for Endless Rain (which Toshi made a joke about earlier in the live..he was making fun of YOSHIKI and Pata alot !! hehe..)

Toshi kept saying things as though he was Yoshiki in a very high pitched voice..
it was very light hearted and fun for the audience. Yoshiki made lots of jokes too.

Toshi said that YOSHIKI only decided to do Unnamed Song 2 days or so before the live.
And Yoshiki said Toshi only asked him to play (one of toshi's songs.. i forgot) a few days before..and Toshi said 'No I sent it to LA months ago!! but you only just started to practice!'.

Yoshiki was very moved by Toshi's song, and he felt pressure to play it.
For those who watched you might notice that Yoshiki's performance of Toshi's song on the piano was a very safe un-Yoshiki like play style.. he didnt do soloing or improvising.
Of course the piano sound is Yoshiki's.. but not like his playing in X or his solo work.
Was a nice change.

All round it was one of those RARE performances where you have so many un-conventional collaborations and acoustic/piano versions of songs that probably will only ever be released as rock songs (i.e. HEATH's Eagle Sniper.. which IMO was one of the better songs out of all the non-X songs composition wise)".

I'm suspicious of that claim that Toshi's voice was completely perfect and that they talked on stage for half an hour before playing Forever Love.

Looks as if they had fun! And now Toshi has infected Yoshiki with wearing shades even on stage ... lol

Edit: thanks for the report, Ulquiorra, that gives really a lot great information!

Grrr, not finding videos anywhere, wasn't there a download of the concert you could get if you already paid to watch it? If so, what are the people who watched it doing? We need footage! XD

Here there are pictures too.

When you click on a picture in that article, you can see 39 pictures of the concert (with much Toshi hugging members too).

I like that white 'groom' thing Toshi is wearing  ;D
It's another look  :D

*ahem* anyway, it looks like the download isn't just any ordinary download, the download is delivered electronicly, and I just got my brother to help me understand what the f*** the site is trying to say, it turns out two sentances about two different things where put together as once sentance, making things very confusing.

Anyway here's how the download works now we've figured it out, from tomorrow (the 25th) its up for download for 30 days, and when you download it, you have only 7 days to watch it (the file will probably tell you the time has expired when you try and open it after 7 days).

Here's the page for the download:

Ulquiorra,

The DMM download (what you are referring to) cannot be downloaded until 6pm tonight.  As I said somewhere else I won't be able to access it until very late tonight because I get home so late.  Also, it will be hard to find the time to watch it.  I'll let you know anything of interest when I have time to watch it.

There is only 30 days to watch it.  It's very frustrating.  It happened last year too.  I purchased the two Tokyo Dome concerts, saved them here, there and everywhere and I believed that I had somehow saved them "forever" only to find that the pesky expiry thingy was attached to all of them so all I have now are files of the concert with these pretty colours flying around.  Pisses me off!  I don't mind paying but why should we be denied the concerts after 30 days?  I would be prepared to pay more just to be able to have them FOREVER.  Of course I have the memories but to have the actual performances you were at is something special.

Thanks to Ann1958 and Ulquiorra for the photos as well as for the report! Hope people are able to make the download thingy work and that you get to see the show before its expiry date.

I have to agree with Ulquiorra on that damned white 'thing' ToshI wore, both for the PV and for this concert. I would love to know what the story is behind that very feminine design, if any. He looks like A: a flamboyant house-husband, or, when he wears the black gloves with it, B: a cross-dressing, mad-scientist! I like him best in his simple shirts and jackets, but that's just me and I am only one of millions of fans.

I noticed the shades too, Ashemanu, but, sunglasses or none, I have to admit I haven't seen that many smiles from the band since before hide's death. They looked like they were actually just having fun! So much laughter and so many smiles, it was absolutely wonderful to see. And I was really glad to read that Yoshiki will be wise and take his time before attempting concert drumming again. Good man.  ;D

I dunno what it is, but it seems to be that jrockers just become allergic to photons after a while. (Kinda the way I developed an allergy to paper tape during my phlebotomy class...) They ALL wear sunglasses! And Toshi wears about the darked sunglasses I've ever seen. The only jrockers I can think of offhand who have avoided this affliction are Pata and Kyo of Dir en Grey.

(P.S. Just as a safety net, I don't really think they are allergic to light.)

Who says that they are right? :P Actually, I didn't see it, but the first news about the songs that have been played came pretty much in time when the concert was supposed to start. I just checked back about it. So 10 minutes might be appropriate when the first news came GMT+1 10:46 while the concert plan was to start at 10:30 GMT+1 (which is 18:30 in Japan)

And I doubt the DMM broadcasting can see the future :D

I didn't say anything about Toshi's voice - I just referred to the time - whether they started the concert 10 or 38 minutes to late.
I also didn't say that everything what was written on the myspace was right, nor did I say that everything what is written on that bxte.info report was wrong.

And btw what I've seen so far from the news broadcasting Asuka showed, Toshi's voice didn't sound worse than during the countdown live 2008/09.

I just think it sounds really rude when you drag that summary so much down. As I think there were some interesting information in it. But it seems some little mistakes or those information you think, are mistakes, because there was one thing in it you don't agree with, seem to make you forget everything else you maybe learned about that concert through this report.

checking out at http://xjapanx.blog.shinobi.jp/Entry/1956/ They said the live start almost on time. I don't know 'on time' is meant to 10 mins or 38 mins late. However, I take it easy!

You're allowed to take photos if you're a journalist and have an accreditation... BXtE probably does. :)

As for the time, BXtE short report (http://http://bxte.info/English/XJAPAN/TOSHI/BXtE-TOSHI-Articles-ToshI-Samurai-JAPAN-Live-report-from-location.html (http://http://bxte.info/English/XJAPAN/TOSHI/BXtE-TOSHI-Articles-ToshI-Samurai-JAPAN-Live-report-from-location.html)) explains the misunderstanding: there were two different statings saying the live would begin at 18 or 18:30. I'm sure the tickets were sold out.  Somebody tried twice for me with no luck and, on the day, I rang the organiser (I guess that's the right word) and there were no tickets left.

I'm not sure what the capacity is (I've heard 2000) so maybe 1300 is incorrect.  I really don't know about the capacity but I'm certain it was sold out.  How could it not be?  Such a big name in such a small venue.

There were quite a few people outside the venue looking for tickets.  If, by some chance, it wasn't sold out I'd be pretty p****d off!

ToshI Samurai JAPAN - Live report from location

ToshI LAST CONCERT "Samurai JAPAN"

Produced by YOSHIKI

2010.02.24 Akasaka BLITZ

[Guest Musician]

PATA
HEATH
SUGIZO
and YOSHIKI

A live that started almost on time - if one goes by the later officially released starting time of 18:30 - or (due to "YOSHIKI produce?") X JAPAN style somewhat belated - 38 minutes, if one goes by the originally supplied opening time of 18:00 - not that anyone actually much cared.

A live that starts, appropriately, with a ToshI solo - that is, it does once fans who are welcoming him on stage with ear splitting cries of "ToshI!" and, even more, "ToshI, okaeri!" (short for "okaeri nasai," "Welcome home," in English) calm down enough that his piano actually can be heard - that is only called "ToshI ~ Solo ~" in the title list provided to the media, a ballad style piano and vocals piece that from what I can understand from the lyrics seems rather personal.

If that might have had a somewhat quietly sentimental feeling, what comes next is, while in parts still sentimental, for sure not quiet:

"Aitakatta zee!!!"

"Tsui ni, kaette kita zee!!!"

"Kaette kita zee!!!"
Shouts - the old X JAPAN familiar "I wanted to meet you," followed by, "at last, I'm back," "I'm back" - that lead to such pandemonium in the audience, that he has to delay talking again as well though he finally, after some more familar shouts and answers (more about those in the final report, with complete translations), gets around to announcing that on this "I'm so happy to be here" day, he actually also has a back-up band with him.

Even though they aren't, as he said in his MCing, "anything to really brag about. Still, let me make you listen to them..."

A comment that - how could it not? - results in much laughter from the audience, that change to shouts of "SUGIZO" - some people start to cry for hide then. Why, I am afraid I have to say, is a bit beyond me - after he announced him as his "top batter."

In an aside, it seems ToshI's love for baseball still is there, too... even if PATA still beats him at that. Maybe they can play some catch ball again at Tokyo Dome, when the next live happens there.

Back to SUGIZO, though, what they'll do next, just the two of them, is a song that ToshI announces as "from SUGIZO's solo activities" and SUGIZO in turn comments, after ToshI asks him to announce the title - Dear LIFE - that he thinks it's a song that suits ToshI very well, that everybody will be moved by him singing it.

It's something that came as a surprise, pretty much, but on second thought is rather logical, as the number of ToshI's new songs hardly could make up for a complete live. Covering solo numbers from the members also will continue throughout the evening - and turn out to be a lot of fun, with one surprise, rather - though the title that follows Dear LIFE is one of ToshI's own new ones, Haru no Fubuki.

For which PATA joins ToshI and SUGIZO on stage, though how it happened that he got there seems to be something they've different views on, as ToshI introduced him as "someone who wanted to play with ToshI: PATA." Which PATA - after coming on stage while not actually saying those words then, or if he did, not loud enough for the microphone to catch it, in his typical "doumo, kyou no Ishizuka desu" attitude - answers with a rather dry, "I don't think I ever said that."

It gets funnier actually, when ToshI says about Haru no Fubuki, "since PATA said he absolutely wants to play it" and PATA answers in a way that could mean either, "I didn't say absolutely" or alternatively "I absolutely don't" - in a way that much indicates he means - pretends to mean - the latter. They do get to the song eventually, but only after ToshI's last comment of, "This is from my new album. SUGIZO played it (for me), he participated in the recording (of this song - among others). PATA." Pause. "Didn't."

Haru no Fubuki actually reminds me of ISSAY meets DOLLY, which I recently saw live. Not because ToshI's and ISSAY's voices are similar - they absolutely aren't, actually I can think of few more dissimilar - or the melody resembles any of theirs, what is similar is Haru no Fubuki has the rather European (Spanish guitar, in this case), classical recital style that ISSAY uses in his "meets DOLLY" appearances. (Though now I can't help wondering what both of them would think about that comparison. Or being compared in the first place, since even though they were around at the same time originally, they've never done anything directly together. (YOSHIKI did, though, with ISSAY.))

Which makes the next song to come as different from Haru no Fubuki as ISSAY's voice is from ToshI's. Before that, though, SUGIZO goes on a break, and instead "someone else who wanted to be here" comes on stage, to a long drawn out "HEEAAATTTTHHHHH!!!" and the explanation that "HEATH is going to play bass (for me)."

Before he gets to do so, though, ToshI looks him over in a "critical" but probably amused way, commenting that "for someone who said he'd go casually about things today, you for sure look perfectly made up." (HEATH's answer was kind of HEATH-style not necessarily easy to understand, "that's because I went and had some tea somewhere in the neighbourhood." My guess would be that in fashionable Akasaka maybe he felt the need to be fashionable? Only HEATH knows for sure...)

Once again back to the topic, or rather song, at hand, that's a PATA solo number, Story of a young boy, an easy to clap along to - which the audience enthusiastically does - country rock number from PATA's solo debut album, a song frankly that I wouldn't believe ToshI would be singing if I weren't there to see and hear it. (That he in the middle of it also turns into a shouting match with the audinece, at one point laughingly calling them tone-deaf for their inability to match his pitch.) Music by PATA, that is, the lyrics, completely in English, are by a collaborator.

If Story of a young boy was one surprise, the bigger one, for me at least, is the next song, which ToshI actually announces as a new HEATH title, setting HEATH fans' hearts beating faster until he announces it, by now 5 years old, Eagle Sniper. Though, it turns out, it's not the Eagle Sniper most people know, but a "heavier version that I arranged for tonight," based on HEATH's own less rock than normal version from his semi-secret Velvet Galaxy acousitc gig in November 2008 at the Nakano ZERO Planetarium. (His last recent non-X JAPAN HEATH activity, unless one counts even more secret fan club members limited HEATH activities...)

Out of the remaining four songs of the official stage three of the four are ToshI's own recent work, starting with Airport, for which SUGIZO joins the other three on stage again.

This first one, Airport, reminds me a bit of Kurenai. Again not because of any actual similarities, but because it, like Kurenai, starts rather ballad style before it turns into rock (though unlike Kurenai, keeps alternating between the two). Another reason it reminds me of that, I guess, is that ToshI's voice in it is much as in the old times, with a rough edge that I personally love. His voice stays like that at least for the start of Samurai Japan, the next of the numbers, probably the rockiest of his new songs, one that has the audience rocking and shouting along enthusiastically.

After that everybody but ToshI leaves the stage - at least for now - though he doesn't stay alone long since "there's someone who asked me to let him play the piano here. Even though I asked him not to come (and mess up, by implication) my big live."

"YOSHIKI!!!"

That was cute, but even the cuter was the talk they had after that (only the first of several, all of that will come later) and ended with "Producer wo shoukai suru zee: YOSHIKI." ("Allow me to introduce my producer: YOSHIKI." - in English more polite than ToshI's Japanese at the moment.)

To which YOSHIKI said, "Okay, let's play some music."

ToshI: "Let's."

Pause.

Eventually, YOSHIKI: "So it's okay if I start to play."

ToshI: "Yes, please play."

YOSHIKI: "Since I'm just back band today..."

ToshI: "I have the most expensive back band in the world."

Then after a repetition of the "are you ready" sequence, finally: "Incidentally, YOSHIKI decided he wanted to do THIS song two days ago."

Which turns out to be Unnamed Song - for which SUGIZO joins them on violin - which it seems ToshI considers one of YOSHIKI's harder to perform songs...

After that, it seems they are going to have the Junior High School Reunion YOSHIKI didn't want the original X JAPAN Tokyo Dome 3 Days lives to be, since they spend quite a while reminiscing about the start of X and such - which, needless to say, the audience loved - until it seems they finally realize they are on stage actually, and YOSHIKI announces the next song as another new one of ToshI's.

Adding his own "complaint" of "he asked me to play this all out of the sudden."

To which ToshI answered he'd sent him the song a month ago, it was his own fault he didn't listen to it until two days ago and "even though he didn't, he then asks ME to sing something (diffcult) out of the sudden."

Class reunion talk time still isn't over yet though; after YOSHIKI says he really likes this song ToshI's quip back is that "in the 40 years we've been friends, that's the first time he's paid me a compliment."

Though after some more funny back and forth, before he finally starts to sing he turns serious and says that "because I've had YOSHIKI's support, I'm standing here where I am now tonight. Because of all your support, I can go on. Thank you."

After that it's Amaoto, for which SUGIZO - who had gone off stage after Unnamed Song again - rejoins them on violin part way through the song and that then is the end of the official stage.

They'll be back, all together "X JAPAN sorotte" - everybody of X JAPAN - for an encore of Forever Love and Endless Rain, but THAT encore is more of a talk live than a live live so details of that will have to wait for the more detailed translations. ToshI, for that, comes back on stage in his white jacket LA shooting outfit, since "it's MY live (and I can be as flamboyant as I want, by implication)" though then, while it is, really, ToshI's live, it's also ToshI and X JAPAN again.

Finally.

ToshI's Sayonara live, but as YOSHIKI then puts it, "good byes also open new doors," adding what he'd said, according to ToshI, early on: "let's get through this together."

Which, it seems, is what everybody, X JAPAN members and fans, seem to feel when they finally go off stage, after the usual hand holding and jump.

PATA and SUGIZO first, then YOSHIKI at ToshI's side, HEATH walking behind ToshI, his hands on his shoulders, as if directing him. Both YOSHIKI and HEATH pointing ToshI out one last time for the fans before they disappear, too, to leave the stage to him alone for his last bow.

And fans excited about what will come next...

PS: It seems this short report still turned out longish. We're calling it "short" because there also will be a version that includes translations of all the talk that happened that night. At the same time, we also hope to post a larger picture gallery, so please look forward to both.

You're allowed to take photos if you're a journalist and have an accreditation... BXtE probably does. :)

I remember a guy from AnimeNetwork or some journalist who was invited to XJapan PV Filming in LA, he said he wasn't allow to take the pictures of the members while the fans did. However, he took some shoots when they didn't eye-catching him. He would upload the photos if everything was quiet. Lately, some Japanese fans start to notice that all the pictures of X Japan and Yoshiki  which released to every media were the same.  Maybe it frees for the fans to take their own pictures. (I took Yoshiki's pics myself when he visited Thailand.. LOL)

I won't fussy if I will see another pictures! waiting for pictures from btxe....

The thing with fans taking photos is that they're not making any money out of it, while journalists are... I think that's why they need an accreditation. ;)

Thanks for the pics links.

I'm glad to see all the smiles. Also glad that Yoshiki is not wearing any brace, neck or wrist.

But I don't like that white jacket Toshi wore at the end.

Another report of the live, this one is very interesting because they mention (even if only briefly) their early NOISE & DYNAMITE days. Also I think the translation for everything they say is more accurate.

I don't know why everything I've quoted is repeated twice, sorry guys, I just copy and pasted the original which didn't have any repeating sentances but for some reason pasting it hear duplicates each sentance twice.

I saw in another report where Yoshiki said "I was watching the performance backstage. You guys were so quiet."  ::)

Here's a very short interview with Toshi, the title seems to suggest the interview took place today, but it looks like Toshi is having the interview right after the concert.

If someone could translate that, it would be awesome.

I can't see the vid in my country. But I think I've seen some brief translations of this interview. It's very... er, don't know how to describe it, but it seems that the interview was a tempory, hurry arrangement and ToshI didn't take it seriously. The only question that makes sense is about what X JAPAN means to him. He says he has been in this band almost the whole life, especially together with Yoshiki and it has been 40 years, but Yoshiki's age is still not announced to the public! :D
And rest of the interview is like:
Interviewer: What do you want to express [convey] through music? ToshI: Why so serious question? Interviewer: But I prepared this question seriously... ToshI: But you're not going to post this (interview)...

(general meaning, not correctly what they say)

I wanted to write something about the concert after watching the DMM download but it's giving me a big headache.  I have been corresponding back and forth with DMM about how to fix the problem but I'm getting nowhere.  So, I have to give up.  I'm pretty p*****d off!   >:(  The quality is shocking and I just want to put my fist through the monitor!

I don't think I have anything to add, from the scrappy bits I've seen, to the report from Ivy that Hypno directed us to.  The only thing I can say is (and I said it before) Toshi's really got the bling going on.  And, is that white scarf a Hermes?  It has "H" all over it when you see it up close.  I can only guess...  I'm glad to see bankruptcy doesn't mean he can't look good!

Brilliant version, I think in the very beginning he was singing too quietly, maybe it was the emotion or he was forgetting the lyrics slighty, but I'm glad he pulled it together after that.

Best version of Unnamed Song.

If Yoshiki's going to continue his pointless VUK fashion show in the middle of an X concert he should have Toshi sing the songs instead of that girl (don't know her name), then again I want Toshi to conserve his voice for X's songs in a concert.

Perhaps it is time for Toshi to return Yoshiki a favor for supporting him all these while by helping Yoshiki with his first VUK concert.

Thank you for posting the You Tube links.  I downloaded the concert from DMM but, as I grizzled about before in previous posts, the quality is SHOCKING (sorry, I don't mean to shout!).  So, I am glad to have the You Tube postings.

Thanks again ;D

I like Toshi's mini album released on 09 Feb 2010.  total 4 songs are all very nice.  Toshi's voice is so clear and powerful.  He and Yoshiki made good team as usuaal.

That is really an unforgettable beautiful concert!!!

I listened again to Unnamed song sung by Daughter after I had listened to ToshI singing that song. Violet UK songs are definitely made to be sung by ToshI I find. The songs are very beautiful, but when ToshI sings, there are more than very beautiful! The song gets a totally different dimension!

Yoshiki producing that concert from ToshI, and they all together, all guest X Japan musicians, thanks for such a beautiful concert!

Now that in the future they will concentrate totally on X Japan, makes me believe that we will see amazing things. (With or without drums, depends on health, but as we could see today, without drums can be beautiful too)

Hoping that Glowinlife (Youtube) will upload the rest of the show too, -mc's and X Japan songs- and very great thanks to him of her.

It seems that a lot of people think Unnnamed Song is a VUK song. I always thought it was not, as it has always been performed live, crediting Yoshiki as the composer and never mentioning Violet UK. Also, it appeared on his Eternal Melody II album, not a VUK release....just my thoughts.

As for the concert, I am extremely surprised! When I found out that the entire set was very...acoustic...I was at first disappointed, but the end result was fantastic. This concert definitely had a more warm and close atmosphere compared with other concerts. As for my favorite performance? I think Eagle Sniper takes that. I had never heard the original before and, on comparing the two, Toshi's rendition of the song is by far my favorite. I am also very happy with how Airport turned out live...just disappointed there was no drum kit for it!

I think this should be released on DVD!

I was wondering this as well and was going to ask if it was a VUK song as I also thought it was from Yoshiki’s solo work. I checked the booklet for Eternal Melody II and I can't find any reference to VUK .

Eagle Sniper is definately my favourite performance with Made in Heaven a close second just because I love that song!!!  ;D

I  remember that Yoshiki said in an interview that they had recorded another version of Amethyst with Toshi's vocal (before the band broke up). It seems that the original lyric is different from now and maybe it's in Japanese. But I doubt if I will have the chance to hear that in my life :P

You Tube!  Come back.  How annoying but I had a little feeling that might happen  :(

I also think Eagle Sniper was the best song of the concert.  I had never heard the original but I just LOVE this version.  I've been trying to think of how I would describe it but I just can't.  Sometimes I just cannot find words...I only have feelings.  I must say, I never realised Heath was so talented at writing.

Actually I don't know which exactly are his solo songs and which are his Violet UK songs. It's all of the same composer, and I can really imagine ToshI sing them all. I thought all that was sung by Daughter and other women were Viloet UK songs.

For those who have not seen the clips from youtube, there is a woman on Support for Toshi facebook, who can upload them there, she did already put one song there.
You just have to ask her and she will upload.

I agree with you, I mean come on people, can you really imagine Toshi singing Blue Butterfly or Sex and Religion? Because, I can't!

I love eagle sniper too! The original is not anything like that, and the new arrangement gives a totally different feel. If I just listen to the original, I would never have imagined it could sound like this. Toshi should consider collaborating with heath on something.  The other song which I am glad to hear is  made in Heaven... I have no idea why Toshi did not consider singing more of his solo from that era, but I'm glad that in the end, the only song he chose is made in Heaven.

Can you see the page, or is it the video wich doesn't load? Maybe you should try out another vid on the website (http://www.tudou.com/ (http://www.tudou.com/)), to see if it's just the Toshi videos... it could be that your browser blocks the site or something like that.

Anyway, someone has kindly offered to help me out so hopefully that will be successful.

Ooooh, forgive me for raising this topic again.  However, I couldn't find a more appropriate topic and I didn't want to start a new thread.

Very simply, I'm looking for the lyrics to Eagle Sniper.  Does anyone know where I can find them?

As Toshi sang this (great) song at his concert in February I thought this would be the best place to post.

I tried to find them myself but to no avail.

Thank you!
