On Wednesday, May 13th,
Yoshiki was seen sharing a meal with the famous Chinese actor
Zhang Ziyi, most well known for her leading roles in movies such as
House of Flying Daggers and
Memories of Geisha. When inquired about it later, he said that they had indeed shared a meal and ended up drinking until the morning. However, he clarified that they are just friends and they had been watching the Tokyo Dome shows DVD with other people. Zhang Ziyi is currently engaged to
Aviv Nevo, an Israeli venture capitalist.
On Friday, May 15th, at a
Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne (The Order of the Slopes of Champagne) event at the
Mandarin Oriental hotel in
Tokyo,
Yoshiki, recommended by the Commandeur (president) of the organisation,
Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger, received the title of
Chevalier (knight). Yoshiki said he was honored to receive the title and joked that champagne is a sexy drink and good to drink with women.
Ordre des Coteaux de Champagne is an organisation whose role is to "
promote the wines of Champagne, their unique features, their ways of consumption and everything which contributes to their reputation and their image as the most prestigious symbol of success and celebration." Their mission is to "
contribute to the dissemination of essential information concerning the wines of Champagne by creating and motivating a network of staunch supporters, most notably through chapitres, tastings and “discovery” activities." It was created in 1656 at the court of Louis the XIV and it consists of over 4,000 members, such as famous artists, politicians, business men and other champagne lovers from around the world.
