Other Bands / The Smashing Pumpkins
« on: August 07, 2017, 04:09:35 PM »
Lately I (re-)discovered The Smashing Pumpkins for myself, which is surprising as I grew up with them but didn't pay that much attention to them back in the time.  ;) What I really like about them is their variety of songs and sounds they bring to the table. Each record has its own distinct sound.

Just some examples of their more famous songs:

Today -

Disarm -

Bullet with Butterfly Wings -

Tonight, Tonight -

Adore -

The Everlasting Gaze -

General chat / X Japan nominated for the REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARD
« on: March 02, 2012, 09:40:46 PM »
As posted on their official Website, they are nominated for the 2012 Revolver Golden Gods Awards in the category Best International Band.

While I think it's cool they are nominated I really ask myself how did this happen as they haven't released anything yet and only played a little tour. Maybe Yoshiki knowing a lot of people did help them a little bit.  ;)

The other bands in the category are Behemoth, Lacuna Coil, Meshuggah, Rammstein and Sepultura.

TV / Movies / Anime / Game of Thrones
« on: May 18, 2011, 11:00:41 AM »
Game of Thrones is a new medieval fantasy series on HBO, which is based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin.

The show started a few weeks ago and it's really good (same goes for the books), so here's the synopsys of Wikipedia:

Set in the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros, where "summers span decades and winters can last a lifetime," Game of Thrones chronicles the violent dynastic struggles among the kingdom's seven noble families for control of the Iron Throne; as the series opens, additional threats from the snow and ice covered region north of Westeros and from the eastern continent across a narrow sea are simultaneously beginning to rise.

Everybody who likes dark and gritty fantasy should give it a try.

TV / Movies / Anime / Last movie you've seen
« on: April 24, 2011, 06:09:34 PM »
Didn't find a thread about that topic and I don't really want to create a new one for every movie I've seen  ;)

So a few days ago I saw Zombieland and it's a pretty cool and funny zombie-movie (pretty obvious if you read the title of the film). So I can recommend it to everyone who loves zombies, gore and a little joke here and there.

It has one of the coolest opening-sequences btw:

TV / Movies / Anime / Sons of Anarchy
« on: December 01, 2010, 07:31:46 PM »

Gonna post here one of my favorite TV-Shows right now (let's say one of my favorite shows that hasn't finished yet  ;D). It's the biker-outlaw-MC-Hamlet inspired-drama Sons of Anarchy. Story is about an outlaw Motorcycle-Club in California which was created by Kurt Sutter (Writer for The Shield) and features Ron Perlman, Katey Sagal and Charlie Hunnam (among others). So everyone who likes edgy, characterdriven Television, watch it. It just finished its third season and season four will star in september on FX.

Here a little Promo to get you an impression what the show's about.

Other than Toshi's blog this info has not been announced

So let's wait and see what happens tomorrow.

Update: The info was misread, there was no announcement event on 26th January.

TV / Movies / Anime / Inglorious Basterds (new Tarantino movie)
« on: January 13, 2009, 08:26:35 PM »
Little bit surprised there seems to be no thread about the new Tarantino-movie, so let's open one  ;D

A few years have passed and now Quentin had the time to make his World War 2 movie. Plot seems to be:

"Two story lines... converge: One follows a group of prisoners-turned-soldiers whose mission is to take down a group of Nazis, and the other follows a young Jewish woman who seeks to avenge the death of her parents by this Nazi group." The US-Release Date is August 21 and I'm really looking forward to it, the actors involved are also pretty good, here a list (taken of wikipedia, so if it isn't correct it's wikis fault ;-)):

The Allies

The Basterds
Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine, an illiterate hillbilly from the mountains of Tennessee, who puts together a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers. He bears a rope burn on his neck, which will never be mentioned in the film (the script hints that he might have survived a lynching). One of the film´s main protagonists: the character has been described as "a voluble, freewheeling outlaw" similar to Jules Winnfield from Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.
Eli Roth as Sgt. Donnie Donowitz: "a baseball bat-swinging Nazi hunter". Known as "The Bear Jew" among Nazis. Some of them seem to believe that Donowitz is in fact, a vengeful golem. It is rumored that the role was originally conceived for Adam Sandler, who was in talks with Tarantino before declining due to schedule conflicts with the film Funny People.
B. J. Novak as PFC Utivich aka "The Little One"
Til Schweiger as Sgt. Hugo Stiglitz: A German-born psychopath recruited by Aldo Raine to kill Nazis.
Samm Levine as PFC Hirschberg
Omar Doom as PFC Ulmer
Michael Bacall as Zimmerman
Gedeon Burkhard as CPL. Wilhelm Wicki, an Austrian Jew
Paul Rust as an unnamed Basterd

The British
Michael Fassbender as Lt. Archie Hicox, a "snappy and handsome British Lieutenant" and movie buff. He is described in the script as a "young George Sanders type". One of the film´s main protagonists, albeit introduced later in the movie.
Mike Myers as Gen. Ed Fenech: A British "military mastermind" who provides a plot to kill Nazi leadership.
Rod Taylor as Winston Churchill, the then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom

The Jews (Occupied French)
Mélanie Laurent as Shoshanna Dreyfus: A young Jewish girl on the run. One of the film´s main protoganists.
Léa Seydoux as Young Shoshanna
Cloris Leachman as Mrs. Himmelstein

The Axis Powers

The Nazis
Christoph Waltz as Col. Hans Landa: A charming and sinister, pipe-smoking Nazi officer nicknamed the "Jew Hunter" in reference to his keen ability to locate Jews hiding throughout France. He is the primary antagonist of the film.
Daniel Brühl as Frederick Zoller, A German War Hero starring in Joseph Goebbels newest Propaganda Film
August Diehl as Major Deiter Hellstrom
Sönke Möhring as Private Butz
Richard Sammel as Sgt. Werner Rachtman
Sylvester Groth as Joseph Goebbels
Martin Wuttke as Adolf Hitler

Other Roles
Samuel L. Jackson as The Narrator
Diane Kruger as Bridget von Hammersmark, a well-known German actress working for the Allies.
Julie Dreyfus as Francesca Mondino: Joseph Goebbel's mistress.
Maggie Cheung as Madame Mimeux, a beautiful French woman who owns a cinema in Paris.
Ludger Pistor as Wolfgang, a role Tarantino added specifically for him.
Christian Berkel as Eric, the Barkeeper
Jacky Ido as Marcel, Shosanna´s beloved and a projectionist at Mimeux´s cinema
Denis Menochet as Perrier LaPadite
Jana Pallaske as an unconfirmed character
Enzo G. Castellari has said that Tarantino "wrote him a small part in the script.

Also found some pictures, enjoy:

TV / Movies / Anime / Asian Movies
« on: January 12, 2009, 08:31:05 PM »
As I was talking with edyork at the 'Hong Kong 16/17' Thread about 'Red Cliff' I thought it may be a good idea to open a Topic where we can put all the asian movies which we like, want to see or suck  ;)

Have to say at first that I haven't seen all the films I want to see but I do my best.  :) Among the asian directors I really like are Zhang Yimou, Takeshi Kitano, John Woo, Tsui Hark, Park Chan-wook, Prachya Pinkaew and propably a lot more who I forgot to mention.
Let's start with Takeshi Kitano (and let's not start with Takeshis Castle, which rocks btw), among his movies Brother is the one I think is underrated the most, don't know why but imho it didn't get the attention it deserved cause it's a really good movie, story and actor wise, so if you are interested in Yakuza-Movies and haven't seen this one, do it, YES YOU CAN  ;D

What movies do you like the most and think are worth a look at?

Toshi with T-EARTH / Feel your Love becomes theme song
« on: October 06, 2008, 03:19:46 PM »
As Toshi wrote on his blog, Feel your love will be the ending theme song for TV Tokyo’s “Driver GO! GO!
And he says that in a few days the PV for Feel your Love will be online, so I'm curious if it differs from the one we already have.

BTW: The picture is so cool with Toshi in front of Asakusa Kaminari Gate, cause a half year ago I stood there where he took the picture  ;D

« on: September 15, 2008, 08:51:30 PM »
So as some of you may know I'm a big fan of Versailles and so I also take a look what the members did in their past, in which projects they were involved and what music did they release. And considering Teru as my favorite member it was only a matter of time till I found Aikaryu  ;)

The band consisted (the last Lineup) of:

Kaworu - Vocals
Teru - Guitar
Shagrath - Guitar
Daiki - Bass
Uli - Drums

Haven't listend to many of their songs yet, but here are a few examples:

The one I'm gonna post here are taken from Toshi's blog, so I hope they are at least new for some of you guys (for me they were new, haven't seen most of them before), so enjoy:

Toshi with T-EARTH / New member revealed: Bass player
« on: July 21, 2008, 06:40:55 PM »
Has been posted in the 'Official T-Earth Homepage'-Thread, but I think it may be a good idea to have a topic where you can discuss about it on your own.
So now after Jun, Toya, Levin and Shinya the next member has been revealed and the bass player is ... *drums* ... Ruca from the band Charlotte (the same where Toya is a member). Don't know much about him, let's be honest I know nothing about him, but as I said in the other thread, he can't be the worst bass player cause if that would be I don't think they would have picked him.

Here a picture taken from the official homepage.

Other Bands / Alter Bridge
« on: July 07, 2008, 08:09:54 PM »
Seems today I'm in the mood of opening threads, well bad for you    Here's another one about one of my favorite bands, already saw them live two times and in november there will be the third time. Alter Bridge consists of the instrumental section of Creed plus the vocalist of The Mayfield Four, but for the people who didn't like Creed, don't worry, they are much better  :D

The Band:
Myles Kennedy - Vocals & Guitar
Mark Tremonti - Guitar
Brian Marshall - Bass
Scott Phillips - Drums

Till now they have releasesd two full lenght albums One Day Remains and Blackbird, and especially the second one is really great (but the first one also has some really good tracks on it). Wrestlingfans may know some of their music cause Edge's Themesong is Metalingus by Alter Bridge btw.

So, enough talking, let the music play, here some songs, so you can get an impression about them:
