General chat / Will X return?

Hey everyone! Hope all of you are doing well! Seems like there has been no activity since 2018. Pretty understandable considering, but is there any indication that X will come back since day?

I know I can be a sour puss, but I’d love to see them back together again. Those snippets of Kiss the Sky last year sounded awesome!

Toshi has been almost single handedly carrying post-reunion X Japan on his shoulders. His vocals since 2007 have improved immensly to the point of even surpassing his voice in the old days. He goves it his all, and elevates the whole band. Para, Heath, and Sugizo are near non factors now (not their fault, Yoshiki doesn't utilize their talent) and Yoshiki has been running the band into the ground aside from nostalgia shows.

Toshi, on the other hand, has consistently given 100% with zero drama. His studio vocals elevate what would be potantially mundane songs into something special (like Scarlet Love Song). La Venus is one of my favorite modern "X Japan" songs simply because Toshi is so freaking good on it.

It sucks Yoshiki doesnt seem to appreciate him, but us real fans sure do. Thanks, Toshi, you respect X Japan, its a shame Yoshiki doeant seem to

Over the years I've been come to know on here as really pessimistic and down on the band and Yoshiki in particular. It doesn't mean my love for the music or members and community ever left, but it did mean Id nitpick and criticize every little thing Yoshiki did or didnt do. I put the guy under the microscope. I know he doesnt read these boards and I think that combined with the insane wait has just lead me to focus I'm the negatives. Sorry, Yoshiki!

Anyways, I think getting that new guitar combined with some very recent family turmoil and me FINALLY watching "We are X" has really gotten me back to just caring about the band.

I thought the documentary was great. I cant believe I havent seen it yet. I was upset when hearing it was all Yoshiki centric, but after watching it I think it did a great job. Yoshiki really is X and X is Yoshiki. He came across as genuine and even down to earth. I also thought it did a great job focusing in Toshi. A bit on Heath and more on Pata would have been nice but I understood the layout. I got choked up at several parts. Especially the scenes with just Yoshiki and Toshi together. Its also made me see all the post reunion material in a new light. The fact that there is music since 2007 with Toshi and Yoshiki is miraculous. I want the new album now more than ever, and I really hope it does surface. From now on I will just wait patiently. I also liked the bit on The Last Live. Really sad stuff, but an important part of their history. I forget how soon hide died after.

In regards to the monents where Yoshiki talks about "making it" overseas, I think they already have. I have said in the past that they will never be featured on major American radio, or go on American arena tours, and I still think thats true ... But who cares? I am a dude from Michigan and these guys are one of my all time favorite bands who have really touched me. How many of you are from Japan? Not many, I bet. Same goes for all their social media sites. They already reached 1000s of people all over the world, they have nothing more to prove as far as I am concerned.

Theres my little rant for the day, at least it is positive for once though! Now to wait for another USA tour and album

According to the attached video below, the new album came out 2 whole years ago! Wow, time sure is wacky!

I thought itd be nice to reflect on it here! What is your favorite song on it? Do you think the guitar work is up to par? Do you like the album cover and artwork? What do you think of that tour that followed to support the record? Do you think we will get a follow up album?

Boy oh boy, its hard to believe the announcement alone was closer to 3 years ago. It was a long wait!

I am so fucking annoyed and disappointing in this band. It is extremely frustrating that my two favorite bands, GNR and X, are both so disrespectful and unaware in regards to their fans. With GNR Chinese Democracy took fucking forever to come out and now we are met with even more ambiguity in response to another new record. Anyways, this isnt about GNR though...

With X we were promised a new record. This was like back in 09 with a projected release date of Fall 2010 with a plan to have a big debut USA tour. Im really grateful we got a small club tour at the very least and Im thrilled I got to see them, something I never thought would happen. So thats awesome. Anyways the album got delayed, I guess no big deal. Even though it was disappointing to know half of it was planned to be re recorded (seriously, who wants that) hits and half new songs. It was still exciting to know a new album was coming though.

We are now in 2013. All the band has done was play a few god damn theater shows in the USA, Europe, Asia, and South America with the exact same setlist at each show. The most frustrating part is the silence and Yoshiki's horse shit, "the album is 99% done!" "Constantly recording, poor me! Im sooooo tired!" and other crap like that. Its insulting. A album of half already written songs promised almost 3 years ago that was said to be "90%" done 3 years ago should be out by now. He should just have a press release, and tell us how it really is. "Hey guys sorry for the delays, we are starting from scratch with all new material, it may be a while." That would be fine. Instead, we get disrespectful shit and have him focus on a billion other projects nobody gives a shit about.

Im sorry I do not care about Loudwire/Golden Gods awards, Golden Globe theme songs, publicity crap, retarded fashion shows and projects, or even stuff like SKIN and Violet UK. Fuck all that. Whats the point of having a hundred commitments if you fail at each and every one of them anyways? He reunited X, the band that put him on the map and the one thing people really care about. Im glad they at least did the world tour but where does that really get the band? A nostalgic cash grab greatest hits reunion tour is really the reason you reunited the band? Fuck it, I may have even been ok with that if not for all his bullshit promises. Pata, Heath, and even Toshi are probably pissed. And Sugizo is focusing on Luna Sea and his solo stuff, I cant say I blame him though.

Oh well, the board seems dead so idk who will even read this. Just thought id vent my frustrations...

Ive been looking for the Complete II box set for a long time, I just dont have 300-400 dollars to spend on it... i ALMOST got it on ebay for less than 200 but lost at the last minute! now im thinking if trading would be an option. what do you guys think of this collection? still not enough to trade for the complete set? is anybody interested? haha i know probably not but eh, worth a shot...

hey everyone

i live in america and therefore its difficult to get x japan records and dvds
as such, i am a college student working at a hospital so money is tight
i really do want a few of x japan's shows though
audio wise i have all of their studio albums on my ipod, on the verge of destruction, art of life live, the last live and a bunch of the instrumental albums. i also have videos of the hide memorial summit show, the first yokohoma show in august, art of live live, and a show from the blue blood tour on my computer/ipod

however, i would really like actual copies of a few of their concerts on dvd
ebay usually has a few to choose from (even if they arent official)
so im wondering what you guys would suggest out of-

x japan returns shows
the white night and blue night shows
the last live
hong kong 2009

which ones contain like a really good X experience? im leaning towards x japan returns but im really unsure, what are some of your favorite moments from each?

I think hes freaking awesome in X and nails most of the songs. I also like his solo in Jade and Be Gone. What are some of his other best solos?
