The Concerts / Re: Best Live versions of ALL songs?

This kills every Blue Blood I'm sorry...

Blue Blood - Countdown GIG 31.12.2008

I was going all out for most of the concert, silent jealousy I was jumping for the whole song, I almost tripped and fell to the row in front of me! I was completely drained by art of life so I couldn't really move all that well!

I was definitely expected the audience to be a little more enthusiastic my part of the balcony was almost completely silent (except for me)!

Dammit I want to relive that concert already!!

Damn lucky bastards....

anxiously awaiting the set list. I don't know whether to be happy or mad if NY gets a different set list. Right now I'm alternating between fits of sobbing and rage at the prospect of them opening with Blue Blood, standing sex, Dahlia, Unfinished, Voiceless screaming (Feat. Taiji), Kurenai, Orgasm, Drum Solo - Forever love, X, Endless Rain and Rose of pain. While at the ending everyone gets a copy of the new album and signed by each member (including Taiji) with a $20 bill inside the case and a joint taped to the back. I really hope that doesn't happen.

X JAPAN World Tour / Re: X Japan North American Tour
« on: October 10, 2010, 07:44:17 PM »
That was a really great interview. We actually LEARNED something about the man this time! If they come again to Canada there's no way I'm missing it!!

Apparently....

Yoshiki Hayashi, the co-founder of the X Japan  rock band, has announced at his New York Anime Festival/New York Comic Con panel on Saturday that he is collaborating with American comic creator Stan Lee  on a music superhero comic book series. The comic series will be translated into various unspecified languages and adapted into a motion comic. Lee also appeared in X Japan's "Born to Be Free" music video.

Yea Psyence you clearly had the sickest hide t shirt out of everyone I saw! I was jealous!!

That's actually a very interesting topic you bring up. Everyone I saw exiting the theatre had either a giant smile on their faces or a gentle, vacant look of enlightenment.

On my side of the balcony there was a person who sat through the whole concert looking somewhat bored. Yet at the end he stood up and applauded rather enthusiastically. I found that to be one of the great moments from the concert!

Personally, I left with a disbelief at the 2 hours that just happened, like, shell shocked. I was completely lost in recounting everything that happened that night and remembering every minute detail that I sort of detached myself from reality for some 15 minutes before I reached union station (Upon walking into a few polls along the way).

8
Lol I already had a heart attack with seeing Pata at the back of the venue having a smoke!

How the hell do you NOT approach them looking like a creep?

9
Lol the place was just too crowded for a group photo, I think I saw some of you around though, A glimpse of a very beautiful lady with a blue rose <3

And I met with Demoniced in line. And Crimson Idol, who was sitting just in front of me!!

VE received a pretty warm welcome in Toronto, I think they said something along the lines of this being the best reception they've had so far in the tour lol. They were still gay though.

The set list was more or less the same. There was a screw up in the beginning of jade where yoshiki lost his drum sticks or something. Also something up with Toshi during X where something caught in his throat so he couldn't sing for a bit I think. They cut down Endless Rain though, which was a bummer. They started like an hour and a half late lol but it was worth it :D

Even with these flaws it was still amazing...  I just can't put down this concert.

Definite highlight of the concert for me : X
What tremendous energy man... just insane.

Outside of the concert: I MET (well not exactly met) PATA outside the back of the theatre!!!!!!! I asked for a picture but security said they couldn't. Too bad. I was too star stricken to ask for a handshake, I just bowed about a million times like a dork. Still, I was within punching distance (HRRNNNGGHH!) of him! I was in the vicinity where I could smell the smoke from his cigarette!! <3

I wanna get X'd sooooo baaaadlllyyy!!!!

You guys are lucky you have floor seats. Ticketmaster sucks.... they stuck me on right centre balcony when there was more than enough seating for 2 people on centre floor :/

11
If someone could do that and stand in the lobby that would make it a lot easier to meet up :)

12
So precious it's nauseating <3

13
I'll be booking it from Hamilton right when school ends!

I'll be the dashingly short asian in a hide (short hair) t-shirt. If that's not enough of a hint then I will be the one tagging along his equally short mother around the venue :)

14
I swear if NY gets a different and better set list than all the other venues I'm going to be PISSED.

15
^ that song alone would make it a magnificent night indeed. A kurenai/orgasm interlude like in the last live would tear the venue apart brick by brick. No doubt.

16
So now that we've seen the set lists for the past few venues, I guess we can assume that we won't be getting any special treatment...

Would've totally loved for them to perform Dahlia. They should've included that in their set list imo. It would've done great over here in NA. Not to mention it's heavy and really fits in with their current style too.

For some reason I was expecting the CD quality that they had back then lol. I'm tearing up at how crystal clear and tolerable it is T_T

General chat / Re: How do you introduce people to X?
« on: August 31, 2010, 04:37:54 PM »
For metal/rock heads you gotta show them something that they can do that others can't. For X it's their lives which make them so unique. So first off, I almost always recommend a live version. X aren't easy listens, so it's best to lay some songs that are a little easier to listen to. Also, especially if the person in said situation does not listen to a lot of power metal, it's best to have a song with Toshi singing in a lower tone. Stuff like that. No need to overwhelm or else it will turn them off. I also just rather they search for it themselves rather than having someone looking over their shoulder.

19
SHII- my tickets just got delivered!! SOOO psyched!

20
and im guessing it has hide with his long red hair holding his guitar in front of him? lol

Mines a variation of that one except it's with hide's short hair and a psyence label on the front.

21
you guys gonna be wearing any X-gear? Got my hide tee that I found on my trip to Japan last month!!

22
Do you have any idea what that second day was called? I'm sure I'll be able to find it somewhere...

Vanishing Vision - 1990.01.06

I've never seen this before. And I wanna know where I can find a copy of that concert!

X - ? ? ?

Hot damn. That was one good performance.

24
^That's unrealistic. They're going to play Jade/Born to be Free/I.V because those are most likely going to be the singles their going to release stateside to America. This isn't the reunion tour anymore, this is the promotional tour for their new album. In fact, I'm pretty sure the set list that we'll see in the states will be the very same song list we see on the album.

To my previous post saying we needed a good vanishing vision live, nevermind, I stand corrected. Some guy just posted a 1992 version of Vanishing Love 0.o

I NEED TO FIND THIS CONCERT!!!!!!!

25
I think this'll be a great way for X to touch back to their roots. They're no longer the big thing where they are going to now and it'll be right back to their early days making it big by showing what they're made of. No bullshit drama, or theatrics that they can pull off in Japan. Fuck I hope they bring back the vibes I got when I watched the Rose and Blood tour...that will honestly exceed my countless, craziest, wildest fantasies of seeing them live. If they pull this off right, it'll be even better than seeing them in Tokyo Dome...

26
There will definitely be no fashion show if their going to be playing at the venues that they're going to in North America. They're too small. Not to mention it leaves a bad impression on us "High-And-Mighty" American consumers :)

27
^ They've played Voiceless Screaming as a Toshi solo with violin *Cough* Sugizo *Cough* backing so it is still possible. It would be interesting to see how Toshi pulls it off with his current voice. He sang it decently in the '92 lives. What I think we really need is good live versions of songs that don't already have good live versions. "Alive" definitely comes to mind. It is one of the most underrated songs that is in desperate need of a better performance than the album version.

Vanishing Vision is another one. Dahlia. Also, Orgasm. I've never seen a live with pata or hide playing the solo perfectly or near perfectly. It seems to be the most consistent inconsistency with X.

I guess our hopes will be verified with the set list in Los Angeles  and Illinois. Both being small venues. Now that I think about it all the north american venues are small so it's unlikely that they'll change the set list. So hopefully X is practicing some new "old" material right now to make sure we leave the concert blogging and telling all our friends. Either that or they don't really care about Canada and decide to have some fun with us that will be the only candle to our hopes of a cool set list...

One thing we can count on: No fashion show.

28
I really hope we get an interesting set list. Like that small concert that opened with Blue Blood a year ago...that would be killer.

Maybe because their playing at a smaller venue they can be a little experimental with us :DDD

29
FUCK YEA Just got my ticket in row E seat 100-101! See you guys there!!

General chat / Re: X Japan new song - Born to be Free
« on: July 21, 2010, 01:17:15 PM »

Not with songs like Kurenai and Art of Life on the album imo.

I guess you're right. But in terms of overall success I think they could end up as the new Linkin Park. It depends on what they put out on the tube, and on the internet. And what they want to put out is the current flavour of X. Their first mainstream releases will tag them accordingly, and if it doesn't warrant a person to purchase the album, those songs will have no effect on their success. Then again I'm making a sweeping generalization. Hearsay goes a very long way and I'm sure once X catches a good number of American fans the ball will really start to roll for them.

But this now brings something new to the table. There will be (I broadly assume) a large part of the American fan base that will strongly prefer their older songs to their new ones. Once that happens there will be a large demand for songs that are more along that style. And if X can't deliver something like that or something (dare I say) new and refreshing what the fuck's gonna happen? This new X is gonna be nothing but their success at entering into the American market and the remastering of all their old albums. It's just gonna be a rehash of their old days.
