Hot Rod Crue song samples!

I can post this, right?  It's from CDJapan so presumably it's legit and stuff.

http://www.neowing.co.jp/track_for_cdj.html?KEY=MHCL-280

According to CDJapan the first album (Hot Rod Cruezin') is out of print, but they still have these little flashplayer samples of all the songs.  They're short, but it's better than nothing.

What do you guys think?  I haven't listened to them all yet, but it's fun to hear our friend "Mituso" sing these songs.  The band sounds cool too... GREAT job on Born to Be Wild, though Kickstart My Heart sounds slightly strange somehow.

Anyway, enjoy!  I'm going to listen to these some more when I get the chance, but so far so good, I'll add this to my list of stuff I want to buy sometime.

Nice, another Mitsuo project to my list of stuff I wanna own...

It sounds pretty good to me... Not all versions are great, buty they all sound damn fun!

"Born To Be Wild", "You've Got Another Thing Comin'", "Gimme All Your Lovin'" and "Pretty Woman" sounds pretty cool! "Kickstart My Heart" is kinda different, but not bad either...

I don't know the original versions of the other songs, but they all sound good too...

Wow! Thanks for the link!

 Would totally buy this! And I LOVE Kickstart My Heart! Damn, I didn't find a thing I didn't like there! Coolcoolcool! Want!

Mitsuo's voice ROCKS! 8) When I've heard him the first time I thought he sucks, but now that I'm used to his voice and accent I totally love it!

Still talking about other Mitsuo projects, a friend of mine uploaded a track of Joe-Erk for me... Joe-Erk was, as far as I know, Mitsuo's first band, and they were active from 1991 to 1993/1994... I only listened to this track of them (Living Alone) but it's a really great song! Would love to find more material from these guys...

Hey, that's interesting, Arucard. :) Can you describe it maybe? How does it sound? (any comparisms?)

Yeah, I'd like to know more too. :)  What kind of musical genre is it?

And having now heard the rest of the Hot Rod Crue samples-- COOL!  The whole band, not just Mitsuo, in fact I really like the guitar sound there.  Though I still find Kickstart My Heart slightly weird (maybe it's the backup singers), and I think You've Got Another Thing Comin' would have been better if Mitsuo sang in his normal range rather than his high range for that one.

But I nitpick.  IT ROCKS!!  In fact I like their China Grove a whole lot better than the original.

Hmm... I really want this CD now. :P

About Joe-Erk:

It sounds like typical Heavy Metal to me... Pretty good guitar work, and both drums and bass sounds good too... Mitsuo sings it on a weird accent... He's using his Brian Johnson voice, ut it sounds somewhat different from his voice in D.T.R.... I don't know... He sounds angrier...

Ya know... I could just upload it for you guys... ~.^

Hahaha, really? I don't know, but to me Joe-Erk always sounded like a punk-ish name...  8)

I'll try uploading the song today or tomorrow and then I'll PM you the link... I'm not a member of the sharing forum either...

OK... now I'm curious, haha.  What DOES Joe-Erk really mean, anyway?  Or is it just a totally random name?

Gasp!  Don't you know it's impolite to talk about Joe's private life on a forum?

I've heard the song now thanks Arucard! and WOW.  The song itself is good though I don't think it's totally memorable-- I like it, but it sounds like a lot of things (that's OK, I'm not complaining).  Yeah, so about Mitsuo... FUCKING HELL, he's GREAT in this!  What a performance, my throat hurts just listening to him!  Even more aggressive than usual, definitely angrier and screamier.  I think he screams as many times on this one track as he does in DTR's entire discography.

Man, is Mitsuo one of those guys where every band he's been in is cool?  Mere mortals have usually been in at least one dud band.  Damn, now I want a Joe-Erk CD too...

Hahahahaha, poor Joe... xD

Other than Mitsuo's vocals one thing I really liked on this Joe-Erk song is the chorus... Damn, it sounds so fucking cool! Even though I don't know what it says... (other than... "Living Alone"...   )

But I definitelly agree with what you said about Mitsuo's vocals here... Great stuff! He sounds fuckin' insane, and at the same time his voice can be really melodic... He's one of those singers that's just unique...

And yeah... So far all Mitsuo's projects I've listened to are great... Joe-Erk kicks ass... Those samples from Hot Rod Crue are great! And no need to coment about D.T.R...

I have other tracks with Mitsuo's vocals on it here... Some songs from Eizo, a project called "Metalfolk" (only have one track from them), one track from a Reaction tribute album... If you guys would like to check these out, you know what to do...  8)

You do know what to do, right? C'mon! Just PM for Christ's sake!

I can't make out hardly any of the lyrics either, heheh.  I can tell it's in English and understand a word here and there, but beyond that...

Yeah, fuckin' insane is exactly it.  Especially at the point near the end where he repeats "living alone" over and over... he sounds totally nuts, it's great!

Yeah, there was not much doubt about who's Mitsuo there... The way he's sitting there on the first picture is just identical to some D.T.R pictures... And... WTF! Look at his cap on the second picture! He looks like one of those Thrashers from mid-80's! If someone showed me only that image and I didn't knew Mitsuo before I would have guessed he was a member of some american Thrash band, like Anthrax or Exodus...

And once again, no need to thank me guys... ^^

Any relation to Kenji? :P  Yeah, I also don't recognize anyone's name or face other than Mitsuo.

Hey, and thanks for that discography!

Oh, and as for how I found the photos-- no exciting adventures to report unfortunately, I just searched for Joe-Erk in Yahoo image search, heheh.

The baseball cap...  Maybe they were in fashion for metal guys in Japan at the time?  This was around the time of Taiji's baseball cap era too...

Man.  I know I've said this before and it's really redundant now, but damn: MITSUO ROCKS!!

I really can't fucking believe that he was the main reason DTR didn't "click" with me the first time I heard them.  I mean... now I like his vocal work so much that I'm listening to stuff because of Mitsuo rather than in spite of him.

Mitsuo!  I repent!

Same here... I never had a problem with his vocals, but yeah, it took me a while to fully appreciate the greatness of it... Now I'm a huge Mitsuo fan, and I can't imagine a "top 10 japanese singers" without Mitsuo on it...

But c'mon guys! Tell me what you found about all those tracks I shared! I'd love to know your opinions about each one...  8)

Nice to know you liked it, mate!

About Metalfolk: Apparently the whole project was supposed to be a tribute to Animetal... They released this "Datoh! Animetal" single and an album after it...

About Nerima Macchoman, I have no info about these guys... What I do know is that Eizo plays the guitar on most of his solo material, so maybe it's him playing the guitar there as well?

About Funk Rocket: The bass player on that song is Takeshi Taneda... He's apparently pretty famous in Japan, and I'm sure I heard his name before, But I can't remember any band he's been on... Other interesting members of Funk Rocket are Roger Takahashi on drums and Yoshio Nomura on guitars...

And great to see you liked Taishuu Sakaba! That's my favorite of these tracks I shared with you guys...  8)
