Because of English being so progressive as a language throughout the world, alot of the country is arrogant and quite xenophobic beliving that they shouldn't have to bend for anyone; the rest of the world should bend around them. Our lack of an official second language has made us less appriciative of international artists. X Japan would sell far less in the UK today than in Paris.

+several

You got that exactly right, it's quite pathetic really, to the point of embarrassment.

2
L'arc en Ciel played at the Lè Zenith venue and there were about 5500 tickets sold on the day before the show

I find that mildly reassuring.

hmm.. about that, I don't know... I'm still afraid... if you look on myspace comments... there are so many people writting "I'm going!" ... and here, on this phorum, lot of people are ready to go, or not?

Not exactly 10-17,000 people though is it?

I dunno. I fully intend to go, as I say I have my flights booked already. I just hope that X and 10,000 other people turn up to keep me company.

3
X should play in a little venue... like the one for the Countdown Live... that would be better for the band and for us...

That would make me feel alot better. Maybe that's what all of the delay is? They're switching too a different venue (I seriously doubt it, but you never know). Of course, this is a show for the whole of Europe, rather than the likes of Diru who play a few concerts in each country, and it's probably going to be the only one they  ever do here. So they should get a few more people on account of that. But planning trips takes time, and they haven't really given us that. I have flights booked already, but people that have waited for tickets, in light of the events of July, mightn't be able to afford to get there now, and so the potential attendance is dropping. As I said, why would they do this? It's utter insanity!

Edit: btw, haven't L'arc En Ciel played in France to audiences of 4-6,000?

Edit 2: L'arc's first US concert was actually to 12,000 people. I bet it was better organised though o_Ó and it was at the Otakon thing.

4
It's our loss as well though if they don't sell enough tickets to warrant playing the show, or if they play the show and there are hardly any people there. They really are messing around with this whole thing, Yoshiki might well brag about this being the biggest solo concert a japanese band has played outside of Japan, but not a single ticket has been sold yet. What the hell could the hold up possibly be? I really don't understand what they're doing here.

TV / Movies / Anime / Re: Top 10 of your favorites TV Series !!!
« on: October 07, 2008, 03:42:44 PM »
Hmmm, here we go:

1.   Garth Marenghi's Darkplace
2.   Look Around You
3.   Frasier
4.   Kath & Kim
5.   Peep Show
6.   Hustle
7.   Spooks
8.   Jeeves and Wooster
9.   Batman (the Adam West version)
10. Dragonball Z

I didn't think there were 10 TV series I've ever particularly liked. Turns out there's quite a few more than 10....

6
This makes me so happy!!!!!!!!!!!

Over the last two days I'd been getting so depressed over the fact that nothing has been forthcoming. I was sure it was all going to go to hell again. Even something as vague as this makes me feel so much better.

While everyone is worrying about it selling out too quickly, am I the only one worrying about them not selling enough tickets for it to be worth their while?

X JAPAN World Tour / Re: Sugizo will be in Paris
« on: October 03, 2008, 01:44:12 PM »
But if they only put the hologram up briefly, say, something like the end of Art of Life, it would be totally different to what you're talking about. For the whole concert we can have Sugizo playing lead, but then for just a minute or two, we can witness the ghost of hide playing for us. That would be magical, eloquent and near numinous.

I really hope that they'll do that. We'll have our concert with Sugizo, which will be awesome in itself, but then, for a moment, we can go back in time and see what once was.

and you can download PRINCE over there : http://marumusic.com/free_download_1.php

Thanks for that ;)

From the message on that page (lol at BEARUTIFUL ROSES mispelling :D), Versailles Philharmonic Quintet doesn't sound very temporary ::) I wonder if they'll just adopt that for the rest of the world.

Edit: Just from one listen, Prince sounds really good to me. I love the guiter solo section.

Speaking of rap/hip hop in general, I respect it. To each their own, some people love it and that's fine. To me it isn't really music at all, or if it is, it's extremely basic music, and I don't think it qualifies as poetry either (as some would say).

Oh.

Did I not emphasise enough the fact that THAT'S JUST MY OPINION? You'd have a point if I had simply stated "Hip hop is not music" (which, incidentally, was the only bit you highlighted :P ), but I didn't just write that. I respect that people like it and it's fine that they do. I just really don't see anything in it.  I'm sure that many people feel that way about the music I like, and I respect that as well. I'm not saying I'm right and everyone else is wrong. That would be disrespectful.

Actually, most of them are just sad imitators and have never held a gun except for showing off, and when it'd come to the real thing, they'd be total, excuse me for my language, pussies.

Quite so.

Sorry but balant rap (or actually hip hop because people think it's the same) hate pisses me off, most people who don't like this kind of music only know some shitty songs/artists from the radio/tv.

When I say I hate rap,  I'm referring  to the horribly popular genre of 'Gangsta Rap' as it is today (i.e: G Unit et al.). imo, it's an abomination. The people doing it are drug dealers and murderers, and their attitude (to their supposed music) is terrible. It's purely a medium through which they make money and carry out their pathetic 'feuds' on a global stage. I honestly can't understand it's popularity at all. If a metal band was to make a song/video taking the piss out of another band, based on the fact that that band sells fewer CDs than them, they'd lose half of their fanbase overnight! Yet mallions of people are content to continue pouring their money into this industry, wtf!?

In a word - vacuous, is how I see rap/hip hop, but that's just me :D

He doesn't have to be credited in the title of the song (or in a youtube video ), since even covers don't require that, and this isn't even a cover.

Never said that :P I was speaking in general.

His name should be there somewhere if there is an actual CD, but I'm not going to be buying it to check  :D

I hate it when other artists do that.. and then DON'T credit the original artist.  It's been done too many times to count, too

Me too. Even if they credit the original artist (and send them royalties), I don't get it. I can understand it being done just for a bit of fun, like the ocassional cover. But if it actually gets released it's pathetic and has zero artistic merit. Besides making a bit of money, where does it get them?

There's no need to credit though? You have to ask the artist before you make a sample/cover. If this rapper did this without permission Yoshiki could sue (but I don't know if he cares enough about some dude from Europe using CML). All I know is that if this was a Prince song, for example, dude would've gotten his ass beaten by now.  :P

They're still supposed to credit the original composer I think. If this is the same guy that ripped off Therion, I don't think he'd have asked. Therion (or rather their label) had to sue him/someone similar and I'm not entirely sure what became of it. Christofer Johnsson (Therion maestro) said he would have been fine with it if the guy had asked, but he didn't.

Who knows?

Oh dear :D Tha's terrible. How can these people bring themselves to deface great songs like this?

I wonder if this could be the same rapper that ripped off Therion's Draconian trilogy ::)

Edit: I looked at other videos by this guy and he's ripped off Rhapsody's Magic of the Wizard's Dream in the same way (well, not the 'same' way per se, but it has still been ripped off o_Ó).

Offtopic / Re: The political climate in your country
« on: September 06, 2008, 05:36:51 PM »
I don't follow politics much, since it makes me too angry and upset at the moment.

Same here

In Britain, we have two big parties, Labour and Conservative ("socialist" and conservative (moderate right) respectively). Labour have been in power for about 11 years now, and recently seem to be making a hash out of everything. Since the Prime Minister Tony Blair resigned, the party and it's new leader (Gordon Brown) have been pretty much in free fall in the polls. To call Labour socialist would also be a bit misleading, they have historically been the peoples party, but under the influence of Tony Blair, they transformed into "New Labour", pretty much the same as the tories (Conservatives).

The other large party is the Liberal Democrats (liberal centre party), but while they always come third, they're unlikely to ever make much of a differenct to anything.

Other parties:

Green Party - the environmentalists
British National Party (BNP) - The Nationalist Racists. Nick Griffin, their leader, has been in prison for various reasons several times, if these ever make serious headway, I'm leaving.
UK Independence Party - A single policy party, these guys just want britain out of the EU.
The Monster Raving Looney Party - The fun one. They enjoyed their greatest popularity under their ex-leader Screaming Lord Sutch (who is, alas, dead now), but are still around.

And an honourable mention to the Scottish National Party (as they only exist in Scotland), who want to cut the UK in half(ish) to make Scotland seperate. The Scotts (<- this is a crass generalisation, but it does hold true in many cases) are very insecure about their position in the world as it stands, always taking second place to England, and would like to cut themselves loose and go it on their own. They have their own parliament as it is, our current Prime Minister and much of the Cabinet is Scottish, and comparing populations (England 55 million, Scotland 5 million), I really don't see what good it could possibly do them.

What is it with nationalism (in general now)? It's a pathetic relic of our tribal past, why can't people see past it!?

"At sunrise we will dance the hempen jig,

The curse of Captain Morgan has lead us to this fate,
So have no fear and don't look back
The afterlife awaits!!!!"

It doesn't get much better than this

Why not with the period? I hope your going to suggest that one too them :D

I thought of Nobles de Versailles (but I guess it's not very original).

imo that's pretty good :) It's going to have to be "something de Versailles", maybe Chateau de (or would that be du ???) Versailles ? I think they called one of their Japan tours that. It's silly that they have to change their name  >:(

What do you guys make of this: http://www.worldticketshop.com/concerts/x_japan_tickets/29376_x_japan_paris ?

I don't know anything about this website (never used it before), but I didn't think tickets would be out until the 5th of Sept o_O I assume these are just reservations?

Also the price:€ 119,00

If that's right - HOLY SHIT!!! :o That's an expensive concert. I hope it's all bullshit... (the ticket info that is, not the concert :P)

If anything, the ironic thing is that the only thing worse than hide dying from this suicide attempt would have been surviving it.

Unfortunately, +1 :(

I think your right 5-10 minutes of being 'choked' (i.e: unable to breathe). If the blood flow to his brain was cut off as well due to the compression on the arteries on his neck it would be even less time.

Indeed. Even if the medical staff had been able to succesfully revive hide what is certain is that the brain damage he will have suffered would seriously affect his ability to understand and interact with the world - he probably would have been what someone would call a 'vegetable'. To me, the man and the personality who was Hideto Matsumoto died long before his body did.

imo, that would have been far worse and far more tragic than his actually dying :(

^Cheers, I'd seen The Revenant Choir one, but not the others. Merci beaucoup :)

Noble arrived today! I'm only a little way through, but it sounds awesome already. The intro track is VERY Rhapsody-esque.

I had intended to elaborate on this and edit it with thoughts once I'd listened to the rest of the album, but didn't ::). Meh, ah well, I think Noble is an awesome album. It has far more "depth" than Lyrical Sympathy, much greater variety, Kamijo's singing seems better, and the guitar work sounds infinitely better, it's better altogether really. Unlike almost everyone else, I don't like Teru's songs that much (not that I DISlike them, I just prefer Hizaki's and Kamijo's), my favourites are Antique in the Future, Windress and History of the Other Side.

Oh, and The Revenant Choir. I love the remake ;D
