Haven't seen that documentary yet, but I've heard great things about it.  Really want to see!

Anyone heard the new Def Leppard and Whitesnake albums?

Def Leppard - Songs from the Sparkle Lounge
Whitesnake - Good to Be Bad

They both came out in April, just got them yesterday.  I like the Def Leppard one a lot, pretty much a normal rock album, very nice.  Nine Lives is probably the best song on it, but if you like it (I think it's pretty damn cool), you'll probably like the rest too.

The new Whitesnake... HOLY SHIT!!!!  I'm seriously blown away by how great this album is.  I like Whitesnake anyway, but this is waaaaay beyond all expectations.  Just some fucking incredible hard blues rock!!  And the first press comes with a bonus live CD.

I don't know if you guys have seen the documentary Metal: A Headbanger's journey but its quite good.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

Hell, I love this documentary! 8) Couldn't imagine a better thing about metal! That guy did a really good job!
Really, I could watch it again and again! Especially the Black Metal section makes me laugh very hard! These guys are unwillingly entertaining, hahaha!

Hahahaha, indeed. Especially the part with that prick from Gorgoroth.

What a fucking moron.

When I'm back home I'll upload some shit from a rather obscure band, NWOBHM legends Trespass. They're not glam rock, but every one that likes hard rock/early heavy metal should love them. I'll upload their killer 1983 demo (which isn't on the official compilation). Their full length album (from 1991 I believe) is more in the Alice In Chains style, and thus has very little to do with metal. The One Of These Days 2 CD compilation is worth some time and/or money. Imagine a mix of bluesy rock, Deep Purple and good old rocking heavy metal, and you'll probably get Trespass.

Does Aldridge play on the new Whitesnake? I've not really kept up with Whitesnake the last couple of years, but I used to listen them a lot when I was younger.

HAHAHA! Yes! And I'm so fuckin' sure that the team behind the camera had serious problems to not laugh at him! I swear, I would have laughed out - really, really loud!!!
And I wouldn't have survived the night then, I guess...

And out of the chaos I heard a voice telling me:
"Smile and be happy - it could have become worse!"
So I smiled and was happy... and it became worse

And this is not exactly Glam Rock, but this is just what every Rock video should look like:

This totally made my day when I found it.  Note the shirt:

That's right, Taiji is a Great White fan!  I thought I saw him wearing a Great White shirt in some other photos I'd seen, now this confirms it.

I become even more impressed by Taiji's excellent taste. 8)

Oh yeah, I think you might like them, they're basically an '80s metal version of blues-rock.  Kinda like Cinderella, but even more blues-oriented.  Their most famous song is "Once Bitten Twice Shy" (actually a cover), which is a great one, but I think some of their other stuff is even better... try "Rock Me",  "Step On You", "Old Rose Motel", "Hiway Nights", "All Over Now"-- hmm, come to think of it I don't remember any Great White songs I don't like. 8)

I adore most of these glam bands - Hanoi Rocks are amazing live still after all these years, there is no more energetic lead singer onstage than Mike Monroe (wonder what his secret is -    - lol)

As for Def Leppard and Whitesnake - they are currently doing a co-headlining tour and playing here next week, am seriously tempted to check them out as never seen either of them live before  -

Was in Hollywood last year, sad to see that the scene has now mainly faded from the Sunset Strip - though there are a few bands still keeping the flame alive.  Rock still needs that bit of colour and sleaze in my opinion anyway...

Well, sounds like I'm definitelly gonna like them... There's no such thing as too much Blues influence on a Rock band...

Gonna try to find some songs to download first, because lately I had some disapointments buying albums from unknown bands...  8)

Whitesnake is supposedly going to tour here later this year, and if it's going to be with Def Leppard, I'm so fucking going to that.  Never seen either of them live before either and WANT TO!  If you go, please tell us how it was? :D

Yeah, and sadly the Strip is not what it was... well, the old places are still there, and the tattoo parlors and etc., but yeah.  Though strangely (and pleasantly) enough, even though the glory days are past, there seems to be a kind of understanding and acceptance around here of the old glam/sleaze stuff being an integral part of LA's history and sound.  And supposedly the Strip may be "restored" soon, though I'm not sure whether that'll be a good or bad thing ("restored" like "returned to what it was", or "restored" like "Starbucks"?).

@Arucard yeah, definitely try before you buy just in case-- out of curiosity, which albums disappointed you lately?

EDITED TO ADD: ...And Motley Crue's "Saints of Los Angeles" comes out Tuesday!  Can't wait!

The last two were Megadeth's "United Abominations" from 2007 and Ozzy's "Black Rain" from the same year...

It's not like they're awful albums, but I just had really high hopes on both, and neither lived up to them... But to be honest, Ozzy's was far more disappointing than Megadeth's... After all, Dave Mustaine is still kicking major ass, while Ozzy is just struggling to sing anything...

I think some of you MIGHT enjoy Energy Vampires, a weirdo US metal band from the late '80s. They sound like Judas Priest meets LA sleaze metal meets Mercyful Fate, with the awesome John Stewart (formerly of progressive US power metal band Slauter Xstroyes) on vokills. Here's a live vid of the awesome track Packin' A Pistol, that shows how fucking heavy and weird they were:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ozmix-pWsnE

Their sole 1990 cassette album has been reissued on CD a couple of months ago, with some new tracks. I've got it, and it's pretty killer. Songs range from uptempo speed metal tracks (one including a fucking sax solo, haha!) to sleazy rockers to weird ballads.

I bought this yesterday and the sales clerk told me I must have water clogged in my ears if I'm buying it. I just told well ok if you say so haha. That happens to me every time I buy a new cd. The clerk has to make some stupid comment.

Sometimes I specifically like to buy my sleaze rock CDs at hipster record stores, just to annoy the clerks.

Hey, I bought the album yesterday too-- so what did you guys think?  I REALLY like it!  Great stuff!  One complaint though: it's pretty short.  44 minutes... was it also released on LP or something?  If there's no vinyl involved anywhere, then that's kinda short by modern standards.

Oh well, better "good but not enough of it" than a boring album that never ends.

To be honest I only like the first two albums, but the title track of the new record sounded pretty good. The first riff in the song was killer and the chorus sounded good too. It sounded better than the last couple of albums, that's for sure. But I'd still rather have Too Fast For Love.

Just found out that Baz has a new song, and I can assure you it's nothing you would expect, so here comes the former Lead Singer of Skid Row, enjoy:

Stumbled over it a few days ago, really dig their music.
