I think so.

It's interesting to see the American audience. Especially those who do not know X

Yes, some of them looked very interested and involved.
I always wonder which obstacle makes it difficult for western people to listen to j-rock... Is it a different way of feeling, or of singing, or both, or the unusual mixture of styles? Or the fact that we instinctively associate any japanese musical performance with pop manga soundtracks and not with rock?

I enjoyed it. This said, I listened a second time the whole live without watching it on purpose to concentrate on sound. Toshi always needs to warm up, it's kind of self confidence problem. Apart from earpieces and guitars, and Sugizo's singing in I.V. - what was wrong with his microphone? - the global gig's issue was interaction between the band and the context. The weelchair was obviously out of place, mostly with people who doesn't know X Japan's aesthetics. They should have conceived this live for that kind of audience, without choirs and with more coordination between themselves, but with those technical problems I think it was almost impossible, you lose it.
You know, I really think that they could solve 50% of their issues should they manage to start with a good performance of Jade, because is a marvellous song that could give them confidence and boost.
All things considered, they did more than I would expect in that condition. Toshi did his best and I think somehow the public felt it. BTBF helped to find some connection.
Let's see the next one. BTW, lakeisle did you say they won't broadcast it?

Taiji / Re: RIP Taiji
« on: April 14, 2018, 01:11:06 PM »
His mother agreed to euthanize his son after less than a day from the determination of brain death. What mother on earth can do that?

Well... it's really a tearing decision... but perhaps she knew he could't regain consciousness and simply tried to spare him from an agony (perhaps a long one). The conditions of a body in deep coma is absolutely awful... Perhaps, knowing how rebel he was, she wanted to free his body from this cage... perhaps she thought he would have made this choice...

Anyway, it seems like not everything is clear about the circumstances which eventually led to his death.
BTW, you know, the more I know about Taiji, the more I start to appreciate some traits of his sensibility.

Ok, here is the link to the recording https://mega.nz/#!r2BSEAAL!MnGmN8ekzja4P2CmXkCJIhqz-sL_IlD78E9CyBKyAPE It's a torrent file. Pretty big, 28GB in TS format. If I can, I will try converting to a smaller AVI.

Thank You so much Teemeah!!!

title : First Small Song (This is a song Taiji composed when his daughter was born)

Thank You Lakeisle... I didn't know Taiji had a daughter... anyway the atmosphere is somehow similar to the one dedicated to hide

Sometimes discovering Taiji is a little surprising...

Yoshiki looked like a mermaid when he jumped into the audience.

Yeah, saw him... He was precisely like that...  :)

Alright, this is damned confusing.  Please don't make fun.  lol

Over here in the USA, if it's any time after midnight or 12:05am, that's the NEXT day.  That would make the concert at 12:05am, Saturday morning which for me on Central time, would be 2:05am Saturday morning.  In just a few hours.  But according to this schedule, it looks like it would really be SUNDAY as far as the USA goes, but of course, California, being California, who knows what they are doing.  Since all these other bands are scheduled to play first, this looks like it won't be for another 26 hours or thereabouts.

HELP!!! lol

Thank You LEMONedMe and- yes, it'all awfully confusing  :P

This seems to be X Japan's lineup

https://www.coachella.com/lineup/#/artist/x-japan

IF - a big IF  ;D - I understand it right, they are playing today 11.10 PM (= 23.10) which in Europe should be tomorrow morning at 08.10 A.M.

The confusion between p.m. and a.m. (not clearly specified till the end) has driven me mad  :o

This year I will celebrate my birthday in Japan. Kasumi and I will leave in a few days. It's not my first visit to Japan, even the neighborhood in Tokyo is the same we've been in, but I'm still pretty excited.
Enjoy yourself! Send postcards ;D!! Go to new places and when You come back tell us everything ;)

lakeisle you are doing a really great job!! ;) Every time I read a new translation of this film it's like watching him living his life at that time... I'll read and re-read it again, it's full of suggestions.
Hide was certainly endlessly changing, conveying his multiple talents in his (last) new album...
and yet I cant't help noticing that in the last videos his face was somehow 'cloudy' and his smile was not the same; OK, perhaps he wore braces ;D, or simply his stage character was evolving, but I'd rather think something had happened... probably X Japan's disbanding (and who knows what else) hit him really deep inside.
As a guitarist he was good, yet not the very best of the world... he had so many personal issues and yet his music and his looks were always vital, really beyond time and problems... his lyrics so disenchanted and provocative, but very far from gloomy atmospheres.
Wouldn't surprise me if somewhere he was happy to know his art keeps delighting fans so much till now.

How is Duolingo? I was thinking about using it to study Japanese.

I think it's useful, but personally I have to write down the letters because reading only is not enough for me to remember them

Hello! I just wanted to share this with you, it's not perfect but I got lazy to re-record lol the video quality kinda sucks. Oh well, maybe if I put on a dinasour onesie while I play Yoshiki will invite me to Yoshiki Channel. TBH I get nervous when I'm recording, I thought maybe if I started sharing with other people that would help.

That's nice, I like it... and the guitar  ;D :-*
P.s. Try high homeopathic dilutions with a skilled pro  ;)

Ahah! That would explain why I couldn't find anything with a Google search - I thought it was "Voices Screaming". Thank you for the info!

And thanks for the welcome - I'm in DEEP with this band. I'm just discovering them, after years and years of working for rock bands, much to my embarrassment. After randomly watching the documentary one day, I went on a tear through all of their records and am currently working my way through all the Youtube content I can find. I'm absolutely smitten with their music and I can't even describe why to any of my friends - it's just something you have to feel for yourself, I guess. It's led me to a whole new life; I'm even studying Japanese now, hardcore. Even though it's the music that hooked me, I am really enjoying getting to know the story and their personalities. I'll even admit to a little bit of fangirling - I ran around the house screaming for about 20 minutes when Yoshiki followed me on Twitter. :D I'm so happy to find a place where I can learn more and meet people who feel the same.

-j

Ahah!! So I'm not the only one to go off the deep... :D More or less here we are all slightly mad like you... so relax and love X Japan! ;D  8) I lost my head for hide... It happened one of the first days of the last October... and it seemed to me almost 'unbearable' and somehow inevitable...  :-*
