I was watching the PV for Weekend and it made me think of awesome guitar solos. So pretty simple, what are your favorite guitar solos?

Mine happen to be:
November Rain - Guns 'n Roses
Free Bird - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Dancing through Sunday - AFI
That's just to name a few.
And my favorite X solo happens to be the one in Tears. It's so simple yet for some reason I just love it.

Ummm

Ok*thinks hard*

Sadistic Desire would be one, I think it sounds better with your headphones on, the very beginning just gives me chills.

has a very nice solo, as well.

I'll add some more when I have time I guess.

RIP

The wholw Allman Brothers Band - Live At Fillmore East contains some of the best slide guitar solos I have ever heard. RIP Duane Allman, may you walk with the angels!

The solos in Pagan Altar - Pagan Altar (yeah, all 2652598251230624523 of 'em). Alan Jones is probably the most underrated guitarist in the universe.

I really love Gus G's solo's.. Check out firewind.

And Syu's stuff in Galneryus.

And someone i've been into lately:

And ALOT more, being a guitarist myself I really can't choose between any guitarists or solos.

My favourite hide solo is the one he plays in Rusty Nail. It's not as shreddy as many of his (earlier) solos, nor perhaps as heartfelt as the solos he plays in the ballads, but it's so damn cool =) It's absolutely perfect for the song and it's place in the song, and it adds so much.

Other favourites:

Jani Liimatainen (Sonata Arctica) - Black Sheep

Many of Jani's solos are just mindless shredding, this one is a little different. It consists of a few different sections and, imo, is really well constructed. Speed picking -> tapping -> cool slidey part -> speed picking. I love it.

Kristian Niemann (Therion) - Everything

I think Kristian Niemann is the best guitarist ever. His solos are always "tasteful", exactly what the song they are in needs. He has amazing technical skill, but doesn't treat every solo spot as an opportunity to show off how fast he can play.

Luca Turilli (Rhapsody) - Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness

He plays a couple of solos in this song, and they blow my mind ;D

"The dream is alive, with the moon on the hills every night,
Run around and see another side of the dream
Freedom has a meaning for me, you can't tame me!!!"

Well I would say the Art of Life (Especially the latter part of the song after the piano solo), but since this is in the other bands forum; I would say...

Kim Kyung Ho - My Love, Even in the Heavens

The middle of that song is just so emotional with the guitar solo!

Definitely Kurenai and X, they are just epic!
Also the ballad guitar solo's are great as well like Endless Rain and Forever Love

Some others would probably be
Ichirin no Hana by High and Mighty Color
Those Who Fight Further live by The Black Mages
Showbiz by Muse
They all just send shivers down my spine
And if i wer to include bass riff/solo's it would probably be Hysteria by Muse and Zero Sympathy by Haikara ya gotta love a bit of slap bass!

its:

RAN guitar solo on hide Psychomunity Tour 1994. The solo is featured on the new alive DVD. RAN has joined hide on that tour. Sadly he wasn't with Spread Beaver at the Psyence a go go tour.
