The main fandom of this kind of idol group are teenagers. Until recently, most of 20s and 30s in Korea were like "Who are they?", "Why are they popular in foreign countries?"(40s are more aware of BTS because of their children). But now, 20's and 30's are desperate to memorize member's names and songs because if they say they don't know who BTS are, they are treated as people who are behind the times. I also memorized the names of the members to keep up with the times. ;D ;D

I am not sure if they breakthrough with music though. Even their fans seem to talk more about dance than music.  Anyway this is my favorite song and is the most famous BTS song in Korea.



But the songs that are popular overseas seems to be different. Maybe because the lyrics are not delivered despite they are beautiful? Or is this a typical Kimchi style song? Haha!

Someone informed me during the Kurenight last night. According to this blog, Yoshiki mentioned the song "Larme", which will be on the new album. Here is the video.

Yoshiki said he finished his work with the orchestra and the recording for this song. Reportedly, Yoshiki played this song for about a minute at the Yoshiki Dinner Show in 2015. He talked about this song in interview decades ago.

YOSHIKI : This is the title that I've been sticking to since long time ago. It's very interesting. If you put apostrophe in the word "Larme" and make "L'arme", it means weapon in France. Removing the apostrophe makes the word tears.


-- The word has an ambiguous meaning.
YOSHIKI : Yes, it's interesting. Besides, there is already a song with this title.


-- Do you mean "Tears" in English?
YOSHIKI : No. There is a song called "Larme". It was not released, but I wrote it before making "Jealousy". The ambitious work that has not been disclosed even to members yet.


-- Then, does the timing of the song release depend on Yoshiki's own instinct?
YOSHIKI : At the time of "Jealousy", other members wanted to write songs and so did I. Back then, I listened to all the members' songs and gave the album an overall checkup, then filled up what I thought was lacking with my songs. In other words, the album already existed in me from the beginning. There was "Jealousy" in my own. So putting the songs that were written by other members, I thought like "I'd better take this song out" and I took out my song. In my first plan, the album contained "Larme".


-- When you had to write "Tears" for Kouhaku('92), if you had such an ambitious work, weren't you tempted to release it?
YOSHIKI : Hahaha! It's not like that. Yeah, I think I should release it soon, but everything I'm doing is connected inside of me. Ultimately, when the time comes, I believe all of that can be understood by people.

In my opinion, the most likely guess for the important announcement is "festival". He is likely to announce the date and venue of the upcoming festival on that day. And the festival is likely to be Visual Japan Summit. 

but isn't Yoshikitty a cat?

Reportedly, he talked about Yoshikitty again that day. (If Yoshikitty doesn't take first place, album will not come out...blah blah) My wish is not a new album nor a world tour. My wish to hit Yoshiki once. That is my dream.

That's really too bad... I think it would have been a great move tbh. A lot of X fans who really don't care about VUK would be motivated to buy VUK's album out of excitement and accessibility.

But I understand in hindsight that it was a lot to expect.

 Too early to be disappointed. Because Yoshiki said there is a "possibility" that the album would be released, so hope still remains.

Are you a genius? Yeah! The announcement that he will make on July 8th may be about the postponement of the album release. ah... I couldn't think of it.  :(

I have something to talk about.

I didn't see the Yoshiki Channel myself(can't find the file or link :'(). I posted this post based on the blog below.

I didn't say that it's a crime that Yoshiki and Heath are not friendly. If you think they are friendly, that's good. I have no intention of arguing about that. I just wanted to say.


1. People think Pata and Heath are not good players because their playing is not flashy? 

No. I wrote about Pata. And as for Heath... I've never read or heard accusations that Heath is not a good bassist. I can't assure you that there is not even one, but if there is, it will be a minority opinion.


2. Do Taiji fans complain about Heath?

No. I've never seen that Taiji fans bashing Heath in Japanese, Korean or English communities. It's a huge delusion if you think all of the "Taiji is better" comments were written by Taiji fans to harass Heath. There are more people who think "Taiji is better" is not Taiji's fault or Taiji fan's fault. You can't stop people from commenting their opinions on the internet. If this is North Korea and if you are Kim Jong Eun, you may be able to stop it. But you don't live in North Korea, and there is no way to stop people expressing their opinions. X Japan is one of the most influential bands in Japan. It's not surprising that every member is put under fire frequently. I agree that Heath may be tired of hearing Taiji is better for 26 years. But it is Heath himself who decided to join X as a Taiji's successor. It's his task to overcome. Above all, "Taiji is better" comments are not Taiji's fault. Should he be accused of being recognized as the greatest bassist in Japan ever? Heath has had an opportunity in the last 26 years and still has an opportunity. He will be loved more if he shows his charms more.


3. Is Heath quiet because of Taiji fans?

No. I think he is nervous when he is with Yoshiki, but if you disagree with me, I respect your opinion. Has he talked a lot when he was with Yoshiki before? That's good. I hope he talks more and not be nervous.

Anyway, sometimes Heath doesn't talk much, and it has nothing to do with Taiji, right? 

Taiji died seven years ago. He doesn't order people to comment on YouTube as "Taiji is better". Don't vent angers on Taiji whenever Heath has any issues. I won't ask you to like him. Just... let him rest in peace.

Taiji is a freking god on the bass. But where is he know? What did it bring him to be perhaps the best bassist of Japan, a genius? Heath is still around...

You are right. Taiji is a bad guy(I wanna swear at him, but don't know the proper swear word in English). He left this world forever and made his fans sad. I sometimes say to members like Yoshiki and Toshi, "Thank you for being alive". Heath is alive and is a bassist of X. Thank you, Heath!

You can look up older threads, if you want, it's all over the place here, usually older posts. I read through a lot of old posts when I joined, I didn't save them for future use you know :D same with youtube comments. you can go see Taiji and heath videos and see the comments there. It's usually Taiji fans who complain about Heath. There are fans who don't, sure thing. But he got a lot of backlash. I hadn't known about TV Tropes, but reading your comments, I thought like "Ah, there is a shitty site called TV Tropes". So don't get butthurt with the site that you evaluated shit.
 
Besides, I never think the comment was written by a Taiji fan. Heath replaced Taiji in 1992, not 1993. How can Taiji fans get confused with the year? His last concert in X was held at Tokyo Dome on January 7, 1992. After the concert, Taiji left X and in the same year, Heath came in. The body of the page and 2 comments on TV Tropes were written "1993". I bet one person, who is not a Taiji fan wrote all of them.

I sometimes look up older threads but I've never found any comments that Taiji admirers bash Heath. Instead, I read a lot of nasty rumors like Taiji would have been fired because of drugs or whatsoever... 

As for YouTube, how are you so convinced that the comments of comparing the two bassists were written by Taiji admirers? Many youtubers select provocative titles to increase views and subscriptions, because people like to compare and evaluate. You said you would ask your bass teacher to evaluate both of them. See. You like to evaluate. Many people like to do it. Did many people write Taiji is better? Taiji is considered to be the best bassist of all time in Japan. It must be harsh for Heath to be compared with Taiji. But even if many people comment that Taiji is better, that doesn't mean Heath is not a good bassist. I think Heath is a great bassist, for sure!

There are many Taiji fans in another X community I belong. In 2010, Taiji came to my country and some fans met him. They really miss him. They are busy with looking for old videos of Taiji, interpreting his letters and blog posts, and planning to visit his grave. They really don't care about Heath. Believe me.

Yeah i guess he is just not the type that wants interaction with the fans, maybe he doesn't want to see the "Taiji was better" comments everywhere.

You seem to say that all the bad things that happen to Heath are due to Taiji. Heath is relatively talkative and looks relaxed when he is with Toshi, but when he is with Yoshiki, he becomes very stiff and nervous. Is it Taiji/Taiji admirer's fault?

Korean and Japanese fans may have different opinions but what I have seen as English comments on Heath videos and also here on the forum at places is that people complained about Heath being a mediocre or worse bassist.

Do you remember? I joined this forum and translated the clips you linked. It was about new year's gathering in Yoshiki channel. As always, Heath didn't talk much in it and you said that's because Taiji admires attack him. I was very surprised to read that. Because, you know, in Japanese communities, Heath is rarely mentioned. Most of the comments are about Yoshiki(many compliments and many curses at the same time). Toshi is also mentioned a lot. hide and Taiji are worshiped or blamed even though they died long time ago. Pata is known to be a quiet member along with Heath, but he loves cats, alcohol, and is a big fan of baseball team "Giant", so he has some things to be used as memes. And recently, his guitar playing is criticized.

But Heath is rarely mentioned. Neither positive way nor negative way. Few people tease him or criticize him. That's why I was surprised when you said he is bashed by Taiji admires and it makes him silent. At that time, I was new here and I thought English speakers bash Heath. But since then I've never seen anyone in this forum has blamed Heath of not being a good bassist. Did I miss anything? I don't think it is wrong to admire Taiji. As praising hide is not to blame Sugizo, praising Taiji is not to blame Heath. And when I listen to the old songs of X, I can't help but praise Taiji. Moreover, it's a huge misunderstanding that Taiji fans hate Heath. Why would Taiji admirers hate Heath? Taiji fans love bass and want Heath be more active in the band. I am a Taiji admirer myself, and like Heath because he is a member of X Japan, has a cool and slender body, and he is very cute when he talks with Toshi. I don't know much about him but I like him. Rather than asking people not to praise Taiji, I think Heath should communicate with fans and appeal his own charm more.

btw. I don't get the thing with Pata. Much people think hes not a great guitar player. But he plays lot of the solo stuff (as you can see on lives) *and* he is a good rythm guitarist. You can hardly find both of this. And don't forget his Solo stuff. He is a Jazz/Blues dude and it's not easy to play that kind of music. Improvisation is hard. You have to be constantly in contact - at least eye contact - with the other band members. You have to be a total teamplayer. And this is much harder then most people imagine.

I said Pata doesn't seem to significantly influence the musical direction of X Japan, but it doesn't mean that Pata is not a great guitar player. Influencing the musical direction and being a great player are separate issues. I mean that Pata doesn't insist like "You have to increase the bpm", "You have to put guitar riffs here", "You have to add a jazz element to this song", "You should not use a machine sound here"... something like that. That doesn't mean that Pata is not a great player.

I listened to Pata's guitar playing in the video you linked. Yeah! Terrific! I'm ignorant of guitar techniques, but it sounds like Gary Moore to me. Very cool. 

Anyway, thank you for the links. I'd like to share the videos in a local community.


I think some people may think that because Pata is not flashy in his playing style, not all over the place like hide used to be, or Sugizo, swearling with his ragged costumes and making flashy moves. Like how people think that Heath is not a good bassist because he remains in the background, you don't see him do flashy things like Taiji did. I guess people who know how to play an electric guitar or have musical experience know how good Pata is. I always appreciate if musicians share their thoughts about X because I am a layperson, I cannot judge technique and stuff like that.

I am also a layperson and can't judge techniques either. I just read many things in Japanese and Korean fansites, so I'd like to write about that.

First off, I've never read that people complain about Pata's playing is not flashy. Instead, they criticize that Pata often hit the wrong notes. He seems to be making more mistakes as he gets older.

Second, They criticize that Pata and Sugizo's playing do not match very well each other. They say that the two players' beats are subtly off. Apart from each guitarist's skill, hide and Pata's ensemble was the perfect match, and so is Sugizo and Inoran's ensemble in Luna Sea. But they say that Pata and Sugizo's playing is subtly misaligned. beat-wise. Japanese netizens also knew that there were bunch of problems with the sound staff at Coachella, but they exploded because of cumulative complaints. I wonder how you guys think about it.

Speaking of Heath, I've never read or heard that people say Heath is not a good bassist. He will not have many opportunities to reveal his talents. People say that Yoshiki doesn't like bass sounds. This is a thing that occurred even when Taiji was in X. Reportedly, Yoshiki often reduced the bass sound during the mixing stage, so Taiji played the bass in irregular ways to prevent Yoshiki from losing the bass sound later on. Since Heath joined, Yoshiki seems to ignore or lessen the bass sound more thoroughly. In recent zepp concerts, only Heath didn't have a solo stage. I wonder if Yoshiki dislikes both bass sounds and bassists. Taiji was fired, and to be honest, nobody will say that Yoshiki and Heath are close.

 Sugizo is a good guitarist, he has a good relationship with the band, he somehow had a "history" with X.


I guess that the TV show was recorded after the Coachella Festival. We can't say that the first gig of the Coacella was good. Although the users here blamed Coacella staffs more then the members, Japanese netizens blamed the members harshly. Most of them said that scouting Sugizo turned out to be a failure. If Sugizo had read those comments, I can imagine how hurt he would have been. I hope he quickly regains the would of the heart.

ㄴ I translated this interview before(Eng->Kor), refering to the original interview written in Japanese. In other words, I read every sentence very thoroughly, and concluded that Taiji and Yoshiki played a major role in shaping the musical direction. Toshi and Pata didn't give much opinions about the album direction.

But it doesn't mean that the two didn't contribute to X Japan's music.

We often talk about it in our local fan community. If every member of the band has strong musical color and opinion like Taiji and Yoshiki, the band can't last long. They say if the Beatles had no Ringo Starr, the band would have disbanded much sooner.

I don't think Pata influenced X's musical direction very much, but I think he contributed greatly to the band. Think about it. Taiji left the band. Toshi also left the band. Hide didn't leave the band but he left this world forever. Heath is currently a solid member but has once declared his withdrawal. Only Pata has never left the band, nor has caused any troubles, and has been staying near Yoshiki reliably. I can't compliment him more. I think Pata has contributed to the band more than anyone else. He doesn't write or arrange a lot of songs in the band, but he has contributed to the band in a different way than Taiji and hide.

The bottom line is... Pata is great!

I just read this article. I was very shocked that Sugizo was thinking like this. He seemed very confident and full of self-love. It is apparent that Yoshiki likes Sugizo and treats him very well. I think the problem that Sugizo currently faces is not a matter of Senpai & Kouhai relationship, namely hierarchy.

Taiji / Engineer brought by Taiji

X fans will agree that “Blue Blood” is a legendary album but the sound is not very good. I saw that many fans are bummed out because the guitar sounded very dull and the drums sounded like cans. Of course, X members would have perceived the problem seriously more than anyone. And this sound problem was solved in their next album “Jealousy”. I listened to the X Japan podcast ep.18, and learned that X members met the engineer “Rich Breen” in LA . And they were very pleased with the results of his work. Apparently, Yoshiki has done all the album work with the engineer since then.

Afterwards, I read an interview and found out that the person who liaised Rich Breen was Taiji. The more I learn about X Japan, the more I realize how much Taiji has contributed to this band.

Taiji : It was Manowar(heavy metal band)’s new album that I borrowed from my friend. Listening to it, I felt intuitively that he was the engineer for X. Since X used a lot of sound, it was a challenge to isolate the sound and let it be heard separately. After having made “Blue Blood”, I was suffering with it all the time. “Why does the sound cling to one?” I thought it’s better to spread the sound. And someone called Rich Breen could do it. “Manowar” themselves use quite a lot of sounds. I thought that is similar to X. He(Rich Breen) runs an orchestra, Windham Hill Records or something like that. He belongs to a different sphere from ours.


- How was it when you worked with him?
Taiji : It was a great combination. He has an awesome personality. Above all things, he is not a work-oriented person and has a good sense.

Right. Sugizo is the only member who is likely to arrange the songs and influence the musical direction. But Yoshiki's studio is too far from Japan and Sugizo is so busy. Moreover, Sugizo behaves as a perfect kouhai in X Japan so I don't think he will make any claims about musical direction of X.   

I wished Yoshiki had a music partner who could support him like I.N.A did to hide. But Yoshiki might not wish for co-producing or, more likely, he could not find a music partner. Taiji and hide were good music partners, but I don't think Yoshiki can find such partners through auditions. (As he couldn't find a vocalist to replace Toshi) I speculate Yoshiki will be lonely when he works on the new album despite all his friends and fans.

True. If there were no good compositions, good arrangements are useless. Yoshiki played the most important role in X and it is Yoshiki who recruited talented members like Taiji and hide. Needless to say, Yoshiki is the heart of Japan.

And Taiji also made a huge contribution to X. At the beginning, X was treated as an "idol band" and was not recognized in the music scene. However, Taiji's bass skills were the top, and it played a big role in X's recognition as a a heavy metal band. Taiji also arranged beautifully the songs Yoshiki wrote. Taiji and Yoshiki crashed humanely, but musically, they were a good combination. I thank both of them.

As for "classical" side, emphasizing melodies is not a trait of classical music. Easy to remember and hum is not a trait of classical music, either.

市川哲史 : Did you make opinion like "Would not it be better to change the sound or style that X've been doing so far?"

hide : You know, I was pretty much in charge of guitar arrangement. It was quite entrusted to me and Taiji.

市川哲史 : So far, the guitar has sounded like 17-year-old kid's playing quickly.

hide : Well... I think... um...

市川哲史 : Did you put riffs or cuttings into the music then?

hide : Yes, but melody is still important in the present X.

hide : Indeed. They didn't play "Kurenai" at that time. So I asked "Why aren't you doing that song? That's a great song. Let's arrange it together". So the arrangement of the song became the current version. Taiji was very responsible for arranging that song.

hide : Right. But that was what Taiji had been concerning until then. I think that our band became more active because there were multiple members who insisted the change in arrangement.

Taiji : However, the songs themselves have changed drastically after hide's joining.

- How have they changed?

Taiji : It's changed greatly. In short, there are senses similar to mine musically to hide. So it is easier to be accepted (by Yoshiki) when both hide and I suggest musical opinions together than when I suggest alone. By hide's suggestion, the width of the music was expanded again. That was amazing. I thought hide's existence itself is suitable for X. I thought as long as we have him in the band, X will change.

- In other words, the core of the present X was completed at the stage when hide and Taiji joined.

Taiji : Yes. Yoshiki's melody is poppish. But it changes depending on the arrangement of the back members and Yoshiki's arrangements. It changes into rockish. There was no that kind of technique before hide joined. 


- Did you assert like "This song is useless because it is too poppish. I'll arrange it." back in those days?

Taiji : I did it. I did it at that time. The format of "Orgasm", the opening of "X" or the arrangement of "Kurenai"... I arranged all those songs.


- You had a sense of mission? Something like "If I don't change, who will change?"

Taiji : Yes. I tried it and ended up thinking that the foundation (between Yoshiki and me) was different. I arranged songs as a rock style, but Yoshiki arranged for melody to be main. Rather, I thought, "This is good", at that time.


- What's good? Yoshiki's arrangement?

Taiji : I thought "The difference in conflict is good". That's why Yoshiki let me do a heavy metal arrangement. In short, he supported my arrangement entirely. Toshi supported me too.

タイジ : でもやっぱりヒデの加入で楽曲自体がガラッと変わったからね

Hide : I wanted to let them know the beauty and the fun of Japanese when it becomes music. I believe I won if there is no sense of incongruity despite I set Japanese lyrics to heavy rock on purpose. Whether I sing in Japanese or English, I want to make sure there is no difference in sound. In a word, it is something to deliver. I know that if the listeners are English speakers, I need to make it in English. But I want to let them know that it was originally made by Japanese. I want to share the unique complexity and beauty of Japanese with them.

Hiroshi : It was right after the press conference that announced the disbandment of X. Fans who saw TV gathered. I was driving slowly through the crowded fans. I thought hide would open the window and say something to them. But he was not seen in the rearview mirror. Looking back, he was lying in the back seat. “Go faster! How can I show my face to them at this time? Go faster! I’m not able to face them”. He decided not to make fans sad, but he couldn’t keep the promise himself. He said he was really bitter because he betrayed fans.

I.N.A : At the press conference, fans were gathering in front of the hotel. We passed the place and went to Hide’s house. And there we made “Rocket Dive” together. I remember the day. Of course we couldn’t finish it. “INA chan, let’s stop today”. After that he went out somewhere.

I.N.A (hide with Spread Beaver) : He worked on “Rocket Dive” around the time of disbandment press conference. So the contents of the lyrics reflect the fans that hide saw.

Kiyoshi (hide with Spread Beaver) : I felt his strong intention in order to give pleasure to the fans who were wandering. I think that’s the message of Rocket Dive.

Kyo (D'erlanger) : Until then, he used to make something inside of himself into messages and then work off into the songs. But Rocket Dive gave him a chance for change.

Joe (hide with Spread Beaver) : I asked him what the “Spread Beaver” means. He then said (hand gesture) “It means this” (laugh) So I said “What? Why did you make such an embarrassing name?” And he said “I wanted to make the most embarrassing name”.

CHIROLYN (hide with Spread Beaver) : When someone used the word “workplace”, then he got angry and yelled “It’s not a workplace!”. (laugh)

Kiyoshi (hide with Spread Beaver) : Hide had a strong desire to have a band. He said “You guys are a band. You are not my session musicians”.

Joe (hide with Spread Beaver) : He said it was a good idea to give our band a name. He said there’s nothing to change because we were a band from the start.

D.I.E (hide with Spread Beaver) : We were promoted from our perspective. Until then we’d been supporting players, but we finally became members of the band. I really became a member of the band.

Hide : I can’t even compare, basically. There was a boss called Yoshiki in the band X. So when I was in X, I freely played the guitar depending on the attraction of Yoshiki. I was very pleased with the title of a “weird guitarist”. But now things are totally different. I have to care everything and have to do a lot of different things. We used to share all the achievements in X, so one-fifth of the power was assigned to me. But now, I have to exert my power 100%. When I get tired, I get tired 100%. When I lose, I lose 100%. When I win, I win 100%.

narrator : He evolved the experience he obtained through the 2nd album “PSYENCE”.

I.N.A : The base of the album “Psyborg Rock” existed in the 2nd album “PSYENCE” already.

narrator : After disassembling each note played by a person, they reassembled it and stacked it up in several layers. Then they mixed their computer-generated music with this. Psyborg rock meant that the tone of human and machine were fused together. The style created with I.N.A.

Hide : Formally I was soloing while I was belonging to X. I was a solo singer without a band. Since I didn’t have members, I became dependent on the machine. When I sing and play the guitar, the computer aids, that was the way I envisioned. We proceeded in that way and eventually reached here.

I.N.A : We already used that method a lot when we worked on the first album. We sampled the phrases of the guitar. Pressing each keyboard key causes a recorded guitar phrase to sound. We made songs by playing this keyboard. We’ve been experimenting with such a variety of things.

Hide : It’ll not change much. Rock music will continue to be played through human groups and machine groups. According to the genre classification in Japan, it’s called “Visual Rock”, but visual rock doesn’t mean music. So I wanted to declare it a “Psyborg Rock”. It’s still questionable if this is a music genre. I’m making noise that it will be fun if this becomes trend.

Eric Westfall (Recording Engineer) : (in Japanese. He speaks fluent Japanese) Hide has an international mindset that is not limited to Japan. He is working in Japan because he is a Japanese. But I think he will be successful enough if he release albums here. When I let my colleagues listen to his music, they were all surprised a lot.

Hide : Overall, it’s not much different from the previous two albums. I think I achieved some of the goals I wanted to achieve in this album. I think this album will strongly show the fusion of my aspiration as a singer and the rock music I wanted to do.

narrator : One night, only me and Hide drank without other people for the first time. Growth of younger brother. It was the time to achieve recognition as the aide to Hide and to share the plan for the future.

Hiroshi : Hide said “Be my spokesperson so you can speak equally to me”. I was surprised when I heard that.

Enatu Yojo (Security) : Hide would have kept it in his mind. I speculate that he had a harsh whip on Hiroshi because he wanted his brother to be his spokesperson someday.

Hiroshi : Zilch had been trying to do overseas activities since then, hide with Spread Beaver had also been on the rise. “We are going to be very busy because I am aiming for overseas activities”. He said that he couldn’t fight unless he had the carefully selected staff. Until then, Hide was the president and the artist.

Hide : The “Pink Spider” means a spider that caresses the delusion. Web spinned by spiders is “web” in English. Web is the best way for us to gain information. The internet is an example. That’s how the spider that spewed the web to collect information should live only in the web that he created. The spider who doesn’t know other world is deluding himself that the web he spinned is the source of information. It is a story of a man who is trapped in a delusion and doesn’t know outside. At last, the spider longs for clouds and flies to another world called sky. He admires the clouds and ascends to the sky. In fact, clouds are only a component of the sky. After all, the spider ends up becoming just a part of the sky.

(( In japanese, spider[クモ : kumo] and cloud[雲 : kumo] are homonyms. It’s interesting that kumo(spider) admires kumo(cloud) and becomes kumo[cloud] ))

Joe (hide with Spread Beaver) : I asked him, “Did you borrow the lyrics from a tale? If not, is there a model of the lyrics?” He didn’t answer. It seemed that he didn’t want to answer, so I tried to change the topic. Then, about 5 seconds later, he said “It’s my story”.

Hide : My new single “Pink Spider” that is scheduled to be released on May 23th.

narrator : Hide came back from LA where he stayed for a long time for promotion. That night, he finished the recording of a TV show and took part in a wrap-up party as always. The mood was heightening with his colleagues who have met in a long time. That night, he talked about the future of “hide with Spread Beaver”. Anecdotes about TV appearance and performance, schedule of tour, things to do as a band, thought about members... “I wanna live as a band member. I wanna keep going with my band” 

Yoshiki : I thought someone tried to fool me. So I decided to come back to Japan. I couldn’t believe it. I thought there might be a conspiracy. I hoped it would be a conspiracy.

narrator : Even though there wasn’t hide, the third album was completed. The person who succeeded Hide was Hide’s right-hand man, I.N.A.

I.N.A : I wanted to complete the album because I saw the people who gathered in Tsukiji. (crying) Excuse me. Suddenly I recall the memory. (wiping tears) Sorry. I wanted to deliver hide’s songs to the people somehow. I will never forget the scene forever. 

Hiroshi : I was about to complete the album “Ja, Zoo” on my responsibility. I can’t make music, so I asked I.N.A to complete the album in order to deliver it to people. I wanted to help people who have cut themselves off from the world and those who have been unable to hear Hide’s music since his death.

narrator : The way to completion of “Ja, Zoo”

D.I.E (hide with Spread Beaver) : We had to complete the unfinished album. Because that’s what hide left.

I.N.A : There were songs in draft while there were the finished. Among them, only the recorded songs could be completed.

narrator : Many people voiced their approval or disapproval on the news that “Ja, Zoo” would be completed without hide. It was a very hard work both physically and mentally. Until now, hide has been making a decision. But from now on, I.N.A is responsible for everything.

I.N.A : The hardest part was to make a decision. Because the person to decide has disappeared. The recording began just a week after the funeral. I was mentally really messed up.

CHIROLYN (hide with Spread Beaver) : “Let’s tour. We have to do it”. But no one was able to start.

D.I.E (hide with Spread Beaver) : The members and staffs were people who were with hide when he was alive. When we gathered, I felt as if the air sank to the ground. Honestly it was extremely painful.

Joe (hide with Spread Beaver) : There is no case that you go on tour without hero. We couldn’t expect what would happen. We didn’t figure out what to do even though we agonized over it for a long time. But we concluded that it’s better to do than not.

Kiyoshi (hide with Spread Beaver) : Hide was gone that way. But we didn’t think like “It’s over. Dismiss!”.

Joe (hide with Spread Beaver) : We concluded that it is better to go on tour both for hide and for the fans.

D.I.E (hide with Spread Beaver) : Unlike heretofore, hide can’t guide direction anymore. Therefore we wondered that who should play hide's role? I.N.A had to do it. Who would do it if it were not I.N.A? Who else? He had been with hide, so we thought it would work well.

Hiroshi : It was “Ja, Zoo” tour without hide, so I had to ask a lot of things to I.N.A. But I.N.A said he couldn’t do everything because he was not hide.

I.N.A : So I worried about what I should do.

Joe (hide with Spread Beaver) : We were so nervous until we started. How should we do?

D.I.E (hide with Spread Beaver) : JOE said we were the ones that hide chose, so let’s play as a band. That was a kind of motive.

Hide : [♪Rocket Dive] High-speeding you are a moment’s spark. Come on! Space age baby rocket dive. Spread your wings and you fly. Adios to yesterday I just waited♪

D.I.E (hide with Spread Beaver) : As soon as the live started, everyone there was crying. We cried and all the audience cried too. Everyone cried sadly. Is there such a concert?

CHIROLYN (hide with Spread Beaver) : Stress was beyond belief. The relationship between the members became strange. The staff also seemed to be out of their mind.

Kiyoshi (hide with Spread Beaver) : On second thought, it was a little reckless. But I think it was good to do. We started in order to finish it but it does not end. It’s not over yet. We’re still on that extension.

Hiroshi : From the beginning of the last live day for “Ja, Zoo”, I kept apologizing for the audience. I was grateful to those who came, but I was much more sorry to the audience.

Joe (hide with Spread Beaver) : As the tour went on, the audience enjoyed it. Thanks to that, the members were also healed. If the tour went on like the first day, members’ hearts would have broken. In hindsight, we tried not to distinguish between those who were fans from the old times and the general audience who came to the concert. If we split the two, we had to accept hide’s death.

I.N.A : I was being distressed from start to finish. But it was meaningful that we laughed, even though the laughter was against our will.

Kiyoshi (hide with Spread Beaver) : We can’t change the fact that hide passed away. I think finding out how we should live after that is the homework left for us. I’m not sure if I could continue to be a musician unless I met hide at that time. I lived a really good time with him.

Takahashi Emi (Stylist) : I really appreciate him for training me this much. I came up with him doing everything in my power for fear of being left behind him.

J (Luna Sea) : Honestly, I still do not believe hide has passed away. I feel as if he’s here forever, and will say “Let’s do well” again.

Tetsu (D'erlanger) : He showed a lot of fun things. He showed wonderful things as well as fun things. It was love. He would have been able to act if it was only on stage. But he was the same offstage.

Kadono Hasashi (RED SHOES/Rally owner) : The people around hide, the members, the staffs and everyone who was connected by hide all had the same mind. The bond as colleagues became stronger.

Hiroshi : If hide was alive and if I had grown even more, we would have dared to jump into the world stage. Hide was preparing to advance into the world. I’m going to live life to the full. I will move on carrying hide’s name on my shoulders, carrying him on my back.

PATA : He will continue to play the guitar vigorously. He will form a band again in the other world. He will. Ah, I talked about the other world.

Miyagi Hiroshi (Hair & Make Up Artist) : Once he was on stage with “regent cut”. ((regent cut : Japanese call pompadour hairstyle “regent cut”)) He said he was embarrassed, so I turned his hair back to his original style. He said he was embarrassed because everyone looks at him.

hide : What the hell is this? (laughs)

Hiroshi : I was being beaten when I was in elementary school. I ran to the front of my house, then hide came out and mounted on the fellow and beat him. He was fighting well.

I.N.A : We got teased so much at the time of the 2nd album tour. People said it’s the mascot for brothels. ((I don’t know what I.N.A means by “the mascot during the 2nd album tour” in this sentence. Anyone knows?)) I don’t go to brothel. They teased that it’s an angel character for the nationwide prostitution business. I really wanted to stop. I begged hide not to do that because my parents was supposed to come the day. Then hide said “That’s none of my business”. (laughs) I really hated him. It’s all memories. Wouldn’t you hate him to hear that? (laughs) Please don’t edit this talk out.
