Information about the X Japan August 14th concert at the Nissan Stadium Choukyoukou toppa nanakorobi yaoki ~sekai ni mukatte~ (超強行突破 七転八起 ～世界に向かって～; Violent breakthrough seven times falling down, eight times standig up ~towards the world~), ~Manatsu no yoru~ (~midsummer night~), will be posted here.

hi. I wasn't going to go to tomorrow's concert since I had work, but they cancelled me this last minute. I was wondering if there's any ticket left for tomorrow. If so, could someone tell me how to get them? I'm planning to go with my freind so need a pair if possible. thanks beforehand!! XOXO

and hope toshi inconsistent voice not happen today. his voice cracked during say anything.

But, denx, he got back on track. His voice only cracked a few times. Cracking, unfortunately, can be normal when you're playing a two-three hour set and are screaming at the top of your lungs. His control was great for almost everything else.

I watched the show from 12/31/03 and Toshi's voice cracked throughout the concert, and on the entire 30 minutes of art of life. It's nothing new.

I reckon today's setlist will be basically exactly the same as yesterday's except a couple of the songs will be played in a different order, they might play Week end though. and maybe they'll play Voiceless Screaming with Taiji.

Well the dude had the ticket. I told him that I'd still go, but if he could find someone to take my ticket I'd appreciate it. Because really, I couldn't afford to go and was only going two nights because of Taiji. Then he tells me he didn't want to see the show with me. Then I come back from going out and see that he said in fact he couldn't find anyone, but that I don't have to go. Also, I was defriended. It was too late for me to say "dude, I'll still go" at that point.
Cause I would have still went. I might not have had fun, but I still would have kept my commitment.

Sounds like Sugizo's playing guitar along with the drum solo, only for a few seconds.
I don't think this is a full on drum solo in the air, there's no music playing in the background either. Better to play it safe.
Ah, Yoshiki's playing his mini piano inside his drum set again, the mood he's trying to set with that is easier to understand when you can only hear it, I think.
Orchestral music is back. Yoshiki's going much easier on the playing I think.

A shame that Taiji is seemingly only going to appear for X again. They could've easily come out and played Voiceless Screaming after the drum solo and then played I.V.
They're on a break, they'll probably come out and only play X though, maybe Orgasm as well, actually I reckon Endless Rain, not Orgasm.

Yeah, overall I'm impressed, though they could've done more with Taiji, and I really hope they havn't stopped playing Week End permenantly now or anything stupid like that.
But yeah apart from that it was amazing.
I think they've changed the end of Tears slightly, they've added one more "dry your Tears with Love" at the end which starts in the middle of the previous one.

I suppose there was no time enough to rehearse for the full version and Sugizo do it on violin. Hoping for next time the full version. And also Voiceless Screaming if whenever Taiji is another time guest musician. It was a beautiful concert full of energy and ToshI being in his element as we could hear.

But it's REALLY awful seeing the same old playback shit again.
hide is dead. Dead people can't play. Live concerts should be LIVE concerts. To see Last Live playbacks, I have a Last Live DVD.

I agree with you Joker, at most they should have footage+sound of hide opening songs like celebration (remember when he played the opening riff on his own at the verge of destruction 1992 concert to open the song?) and Scars (hide singing the opening of Scars), apart from that his guitar samples are in I.V, and maybe they could have doing the "tobe tobe tobe" thing on the monitors with subtitles, but apart from that there's no need for any other playback its getting rediculous, they have hide playback for entire solos and don't even show him on the screens now which makes the band look even worse.

Also, they chose to play all three of their new songs in place of Week End, hopefully this is just to advertise the new album considering these are probably the last concerts they'll have before the album release, and now they can do ads using Jade, Born to be Free using this concert footage ect.
Hopefully, that's the only reason they didn't play Week End this time, Week End is one of the few remaining classic rock/metal songs they play, it would be one of their worst desicions ever to not play it permenantly or make it a rare occurance like Dahlia.

I had heard earlier someone say that Taiji had had a stroke in the last few years, which would significantly affect his motor skills. I doubt that anyone would be able to play a musical instrument as well as they had before. It may have precluded him from playing a song as technical as voiceless screaming.

One thing i don't like in Born to be free is the chorus. Toshi only sang "Born to be free!!" not " Born to be Freeeeeeeee..." like the studio version.

They're in the studio version, but on the live version Pata & Sugizo are technically playing parts that were written by hide, just as good to me.

They've payed tribute to him this way a million times since the reunion, its enough now, and it is wrong because when you come to see a band live, and and respect that band and their talent, its because they actually play. Its great to pay tribute to hide, but when it comes to the point when the people who are actually on stage don't play the biggest most complex part of the song, that's really cheap.
They're even entering in the US market now, with millions of people who've never heard them before, and want to see *them* play and see what *they* can do, playing a video tape of a guitarist who died over ten years ago its not what people want, in Japan or in the US, we go to see live bands to see them play.

Playing one of his songs live (like Love Replica) is a far better tribute than using playbacks.

I doubt the backing tracks will be dropped in the near future. And it wouldn't be that bad if they would rotate the songs more. Replace Rusty Nail with Blue Blood or Silent Jealousy and we won't have that much songs left were the tracks are used. Or let's simply hope for more new songs.
But backing tracks or not, overall I think the gigs were fine. Sure there could have been one or two songs more per night and I was expecting Voiceless Screaming, but hey, who would have thought we will see Taiji EVER on stage again with X?

Solos playbacks are annoying. Srsly i WANT to hear Sugizo plays these solos. After all, he is my favourite guitarist along with hide and not just because their guitar style but also thx to their solo carriers. But hide is dead, let Sugizo play ffs! :(
Playing hide´s songs like Drain, Sadistic Desire, Love Replica (or include something from his solo like Tell Me or Pink Spider) would be AWESOME tribute. But playbacks are LAME. Only hide playback I like and think its actually great is Kurenai intro.

Well, you think it’s enough, but they don’t think so, probably.. I don’t want to dispute about it, really. Just let me express my opinion. We love and appreciate their music. We aren’t personally acquainted with them. We cant judge. They’ve been not only a band, but also good friends. So, it might be more painful for them to “get over”, right? it’s always so painful to lose someone and resign oneself to the loss. Who sad that ten years would be enough?...dont get me wrong, I’m not justifying them. Live show should be completely LIVE, for sure. When I saw hide’s hologram for the first time I was quite shocked. It seemed to me to be a bit strange\weird. But then I realized how important it was for the band, *especially for Yoshiki, I guess*. And I personally will accept it.

the hide hologram is a different story. It was the making come true of something that we thought impossible, that is, all members of original X Japan on stage.
The playbacks are ok with kurenai. It is a nice homage paid to hide and i can live with it.
Concerning other playback solos, I want Sugizo to perform em. If you take a close look to X Japan official site you see him there as the 5th, and I repeat, the 5th memeber of X Japan. You see his picture instead of hide. hide is not forgotten and will always be a part of X, but New X Japan has Sugizo as guitar & violin. So I think he should play the solos, or even split the solos between Pata and Sugizo, just like the old classics, were Pata and hide each played parts.
Anyways, the ongoing whining about the playbacks is annoying. I understand everybodys ownopinion and respect it, but in the end, just as it has been said already, it's left up to X Japan themselves.

No. It is not tribute. But is easier for them. hide makes money, with all the hidetards like you who prefer to spend lots of monnies to watch a playback concert instead of a live.
I want to see X JAPAN playing again. And I didn't see it since 2008. The three reunion concerts were nice, but it is SO retarded to insist on playbacks now they have an alive (and awesome) guitarist. They are using Sugizo as an "excuse" to have someone to play the new songs. This got more than ridiculous.
If they want to be SERIOUS again, they NEED to stop using playbacks.

I think they would loose even more, or, worse to Yoshiki, they won't win the american fans that Yoshiki wants SO much because for them, hide has no value, and if they want playback, they go to a Britney Spears concert.

Well I'm happy with the amount of playback they used in the last concert!
Drain - totally justifiable, it's hide's song after all
Kurenai - the most beautiful footage of hide I've ever seen, Sugizo would be murdered if he ever played that beginning solo instead of hide; I wish they'd include the piano+violin beginning in the lives as well though
X - the tobetobetobe is hide's and I can see no one taking that part from him, nor any reason to
Rusty Nail solo - meh, they could do it without hide's playback, probably, then again the Last Live version of the solo is just so perfect... I do think it's ok for hide to have this one solo
So that makes one playback part where they might stop using hide, but I personally don't care. In all other places it's justifiable and, for me, the right thing to do. Many people here sound like it's the end of the world. Come on, it's one (really awesome) solo. I'm sure Sugizo would play it just as awesomely, but I mean, he gets to play 99% of the time anyway. Plus, he has all the new songs. He joined in 2009 and he has played in all songs since then AND in tons of songs that came before him. That's awesome, in a way, already.

Taiji probably didn't have much time to rehearse many songs. Wasn't it at the press conference just a few days before the concert when he said he didn't even know yet which songs they would play? What I wonder is that I thought there was supposed to be "a new song from Sugizo" or something, what happened to that...?

I'm not overly bothered by them using hide's play backs in Japan. But it would be better for them to play everything live in their concerts in America and Canada. I can sort of understand them wanting hide to be a part of their concerts.

For Kurenai I like the 'compromis' they did at Lollapalooza, and I guess that will be the new version. First the intro from hide with ToshI, then the intro from Sugizo with violin, then the song.

What little I could make out with a translator, don't quote me on anything:
* Yes, the drum solo (which started suddenly, without fans screaming before it) was indeed on the second, pyramid stage
* It was the first time in over 10 years when Unfinished was played live; only one chorus though
* Heath will stay as the bassist of X Japan, Taiji won't replace him :P
* They do know that they have a lot of fans waiting in France and an European tour is said to follow the US tour
* Jade will start broadcasting in US radio stations next week, as a promotion
* They want to finish the work on the album before the US tour and release it within the year
* The US tour dates will be released soon (I presume on the 16th, as promised earlier)

What little I could make out with a translator, don't quote me on anything:
* Yes, the drum solo (which started suddenly, without fans screaming before it) was indeed on the second, pyramid stage
* It was the first time in over 10 years when Unfinished was played live; only one chorus though
* Heath will stay as the bassist of X Japan, Taiji won't replace him :P

I'm very excited to hear Jade will be getting airplay here in the US next week! But it sounds like the CD won't be out before the US tour, which is very disappointing to hear.

Well I'm happy with the amount of playback they used in the last concert!
Drain - totally justifiable, it's hide's song after all
Kurenai - the most beautiful footage of hide I've ever seen, Sugizo would be murdered if he ever played that beginning solo instead of hide; I wish they'd include the piano+violin beginning in the lives as well though
X - the tobetobetobe is hide's and I can see no one taking that part from him, nor any reason to
Rusty Nail solo - meh, they could do it without hide's playback, probably, then again the Last Live version of the solo is just so perfect... I do think it's ok for hide to have this one solo
So that makes one playback part where they might stop using hide, but I personally don't care. In all other places it's justifiable and, for me, the right thing to do. Many people here sound like it's the end of the world. Come on, it's one (really awesome) solo. I'm sure Sugizo would play it just as awesomely, but I mean, he gets to play 99% of the time anyway. Plus, he has all the new songs. He joined in 2009 and he has played in all songs since then AND in tons of songs that came before him. That's awesome, in a way, already.
I sort of agree here with Hypno, Drain was fair enough (a one off performance of one of hide’s own songs), tobetobetobe was a fun addition to X and the kurenai intro was lovely - in fact I really liked the way they did it and thought it was a lovely touch. However, I don’t think they need to use his solo(s) now as Sugizo is more than capable and it would be good to get his interpretation of the song – yes hide’s Last Live Rusty Nail solo is awesome but if we want to hear a clone of the Last Live version then we can go watch/listen to that version.
I am disappointed that Taiji only appeared for X. I don’t know if it was bad planning (no time to sort out songs, arrangements etc) or that was all that was agreed to in the first place but it does seem like they had this big announcement and a lot of fuss etc just for one song when perhaps it would have been better saying nothing and having him appear (imagine the wow factor then).
Anyway, aside from that I really enjoyed the concerts; I thought Toshi sounded fantastic - really strong vocals. From the pictures/videos etc the concerts look awesome. Glad they mixed up the setlists a bit. Loved Unfinished!! It would be nice for a bit more variety – some Blue Blood, Sadistic Desire etc but I suppose at the moment they are focussing on this new album and new songs so I.V., Born to be Free, Jade etc are more likely to be played and I totally understand that! Born to be Free is really growing on me! It is so catchy! Anyway, I am really impressed with how they performed and I think future shows should go well – hopefully a few more songs and a few less breaks! Lol!

Seeing Taiji play with them is awesome, next to that the highlight of the video for me is that people shouted louder for Toshi during the "we are!!" segment then they did for Yoshiki, which is how it always should be.

I went to both concerts. Spent the 2 days in Yokohama soaking up the atmosphere. It was stinking, stinking hot. I don't know how Toshi manages to get around in all that garb in this kind of weather. He really is changing his style. Looking more and more like a Christmas tree! I like his style about 2 years ago. Anyway, that's neither here nor there.
Just a few observations...
The lighting effects were brilliant. Just so pretty. As the concerts started at 5.30pm it was still light but as the night progressed the lighting got better and better. Watching the audience with all their pen lights was so lovely.
When Yoshiki and Toshi appeared from the pyramid it was a wonderful surprise. Unexpected. The second night it was no surprise to see Yoshiki pop up there as we knew it would happen!
There was quite clearly less hide presence than ever before...apart from, however, the number of hide cosplayers. They were out in force as usual.
I enjoyed Toshi on the drums. Quite funny (I thought he was quite good but I'm no musician so who knows).
Personally, I was disappointed that the concerts began with Jade only because I like the "traditional" openers (for eg, Rusty Nail, World Anthem, Prologue...). But, they need to progress so I can accept it.
As great as the concerts were (and they were) I still enjoyed last year's concerts at Tokyo Dome more. Perhaps that's because they were my first X Japan concerts.
Oh, and they had the new pachinko machines in the foyer areas. Hmmm, hard to see as people were milled around them. They looked kind of funny....very gimmicky. They didn't do anything much for me.
I wish X Japan continuing success and hope that all goes well on their upcoming US tour.

Actually, just watching the 'X' footage with Taiji, I noticed his right hand picking was only going half the speed of the original bass arrangement. (look at Heath for context). I think Taiji's motor skills have been profoundly effected by his past injuries... hence only 1 song and no Voiceless Screaming etc.

He can still play, I wouldn't dispute that. But there's nothing he played in that gig which requires playing anywhere near as fast as he would have to for X. When there are close-ups of him playing, you can see that he's playing reletively simplistic stuff.

Epileptic episodes are called either Grand Mal Seizures (bad ones) or Petite Mal Seizures (minor ones) Frightening to witness, but gratefully the patient has no memory of them. It was so incredible to see Taiji back with them. I am beginning to think the world is going to end. First I saw Miyavi in concert, and now I will see X in concert, and I have seen Taiji play with them again via internet. I can die happy after October 3! LMAO!

As usual during Yoshiki's little piano solo's, he seems to play simply whatever comes to his fingers - and given Toshi's reaction (the fact he was laughing) and how rusty they both appeared to be at getting through the song, it looks like it was entirely impromptu.

To be honest I havn't heard basically anything orginal at all from Yoshiki's piano solos since the 1996 ones. Its just the same thing all the time now over and over again dalalalala dululululululu slam slam slam, next song.
I wish he was still a classical composer, because he definatly isn't anymore imo.

Just finished watching the whole concert from the 15th! I like them both, but this one i think was better (longer too) ^_^
The first and third link worked for me from youku, but i just dl them with "clipnabber", however the 2nd did not work for me because of the "blocked region" crap! I personally dont know why its taking so long to get a good version of the 15th show, but im sure it will be up any day now. Anyways, if anyone cant wait and want to see the whole show on youku and they dont work 4 u, just get "elite proxy switcher" ,use it with firefox and add this ip to "eps"

Finally an official video from the 15th, unfortunatly (I hope its not the same for you guys) it kept stalling every 30 seconds and I had to keep reloading, I eventually got through the song, which was a perfect performance (aside from the playback solo and Yoshiki missing a couple of notes, I think he was quite emotional during this, quietly), too bad I couldn't enjoy it because of the shitty upload or youtube being complete dumbasses with their video player.

I felt Toshi could've ended the song a bit better with more agressive vocals, but apart from that, overall he definatly gave a better performance of Jade than the 14th's and even that was really good. Have to say though, seeing videos from both days, the guitars for Jade definatly need to be turned up, can barely hear them during the "solos", Born to be Free on the 14th had this problem as well.

Drain - in my opinion the most pointless waste of time at a concert next to the Violet UK fashion show and if they ever played White Poem live. if im not wrong he's stepping on the hi-hat pedal (the two closed cymbals to the drummer's left)
stepping on the pedal causes the cymbals to come apart - close - come apart - close which is the sound we're hearing.
so thats why we don't see his hands moving.
if you look at the vid around 3:36 - 3:37 which is when we start to hear the cymbals, you can see his left leg moving up and down from the angle that they're filming.

Anyways, if anyone cant wait and want to see the whole show on youku and they dont work 4 u, just get "elite proxy switcher" ,use it with firefox and add this ip to "eps"
211.138.124.199:80 (make sure to enable the proxy in eps) *and ur good to go! no more blocked region! :)

I just remembered, didn't Yoshiki tell us we'd hear Sugizo's song he wrote for the band/new album at the Nissan lives? Wish they'd stop telling us things are going to happen/let us vote what songs to play on their website when none of that actually follows.

Don't you have any uncompressed version of this concert? It means mpg, or only audio in flac for example?
