Title: Carnival
Post by: ferret on February 20, 2007, 10:08:35 AM
So, do you/people in your country celebrate carneval? Here, in Austria, they do (I don't), but it's just like every party (loads of drunks and nothing else). I'd love to be in Brazil at that time to see that pompeous spectacle just once in my lifetime, it looks really impressive.  :D

Everybody's dressing up...it's like Halloween, just bigger  :P

Lol, we don't have anything like that here :P Here it's called Laskiainen, and usually we eat peasoup, and for dessert coffeebreads with whipped cream and jam. We don't have carnivals here, as we don't have that kind of Halloween as in US for example.

We don't have it here in Japan (though they do in germany), so when I first saw your topic, I though you were talking about Carnival by TRAX, before I realized this was the offtopic and not other bands forum.

Actually, Halloween is celebrated here as well, don't ask me why. Oh, and I think it's called Fasching in Austria...or was that in Germany?

It's Fasching in Austria and Bavaria (South Germany) and Karneval in the rest of Germany.

Quite embarrassing, but I often talk to people on German forums so I often get things mixed up

Thanks for clearing it up  :P

Well, here (East Germany) it's rather called Fasching but Carnival/Karneval - but both words are used.

Lol, yes we do XD It's traditional food, though many people hate peasoup nowadays. But laskiaispulla (that coffeebread) is still popular, I think. :P
