Title: X JAPAN in SAW IV
Post by: Kyubi on October 08, 2007, 08:50:21 PM
According to the production note which you can read here:
http://www.lionsgatepublicity.com/epk/saw4/docs/pro_notes.doc (page 25)

X JAPAN will perform in the fourth SAW movie (release on the 21st november in France).
The song is called IV and is composed by Yoshiki.

Yoshiki should stop performing in movies and release some CDs! XD

Wooosh! Now that's some cool news :) And it's less than a month away :O

Unless I mistake something and they really mean 2008?

They should mean 2007, I think.
That would be just awsome!

Ugh, Yoshiki is really giving me a hard time to actually respect him lately :?
Stop it, my dear, those movies are utter bs.

Too much hollywood movie stuff, in my opinion >_>
Okay, but actually that's a GOOD way to become more wellknown overseas. AND yoshiki is forced to actually release the songs he wrote :P Well, I'm curious about that IV song O_o

However I think  it's REALLY strange if X "came back" like that? In the ending theme or a horror movie?? And didn't Toshi say he won't sing any songs with a negative message? x_x (don't remember the original wording)

Personally, I can't really say I mind Yoshiki's songs in SAW-likes... at least there will be something good about those movies. :P

Just my personal opinion, but for me it doesn't really count as comeback... it's not a live concert or anything. But that doesn't stop me from looking forward to it.

I think he did say something like this, but I don't know the exact words, either. And well, we haven't heard the song yet, so perhaps there was something about it that Toshi liked?

o.o;;;;
X coming back and the first thing they are doing, is a song for a movie and the movie is SAW IV ....
Even though I haven'T watched any movies of that series (I do like horror movies, but those meat-grinder-movies get boring now) I'll definetely watch this one.

Now what I'm more curious is the fact, that the song is called I.V. ...
YOSHIKI is really liking capital letters with dots between them now.
I'm wondering if there is any meaning to I.V.

Anyways, it was about time we got any news concerning this topic.

If this is true, I now have a reason to see that movie. XD

And about IV, it could be the medical shot as you were saying, or it could be because in Roman numerals, 4 is "IV", and this is Saw 4. ^^

This is just crazy. Our favorite band doing their comeback in an american horror movie...
Even if I'm excited to hear the new song, I think this is not a proper X-comeback!

Whatever, I think it's awesome :) Thinking about what kind of movie it is, it may even be a "violent" song as Toshi himself would describe it.

Wow I'm surprised you aren't talking about "the X Japan come back without hide" subject.... I posted this news on a french X Japan forums and they are all yelling at Yoshiki because he did a new song under the name of X JAPAN.

Boring.

I've got this feeling that they fucked it up and its probably a Violet UK song and not an X Japan song. Surely if X Japan did a new song for Saw IV the Japanese newspapers and websites would have found out about it?? I highly doubt he would keep a new X Japan song such a secret considering how many millions of people want to see X Japan again

A magazine told something like that X would perform in a movie released in November.
BTW, it's confirmed, X will apear along Dir en Grey:

darkcat, I would hardly call that confirmed as all they've put are band names... but if X are involved, I still dont know why they would do it like this.. Maybe its an older unreleased X song? Making a "comeback" on the soundtrack for Saw 4 is not the wisest choice... its better than nothing though!

Maybe the track listing is only for the Japanese release of the soundtrack. o.o I've heard mention of other bands (including a former member of Nine Inch Nails, the band Saosin, and a bunch more I can't remember at the moment) that are supposed to be on the Saw 4 soundtrack, and none of them are on the list provided in that link. O_o

I have a feeling that IF it is definately an X Japan song (and not a SKIN/VUK/Yoshiki only song) that it might be an older, unreleased song? I still find it hard to believe that they could reunite and record a new song with NO-ONE knowing anything about it.
Title: X JAPAN in SAW IV
Post by: madrigal on October 10, 2007, 10:41:43 PM
Or it could be an old song but with new english lyrics,
(Wouldn't an english version of SCARS fit for a movie like Saw IV? Just the name... ;) or what am I talking about, it should be SADISTIC DESIRE! :P)
I think it's harder to believe that they've recorded a completley new song just for the Saw IV soundtrack though... It would be much more logical if they'd record a new song (and kept it secred) to release it as a single, or a b-side to Without You. :)

Maybe it's just an old song, without anything new recorded. Saw several soundtracks with songs that were released before. It would be awsome to hear something new but I doubt it'll be a new X-Japan song.

I would recommend starting from the first Saw film and watching them all in order. Its not essential, but everything would make more sense.

And they are quite gruesome films so if you have a weak stomach, I wouldnt recommend watching 2 or 3 (and from the clips i've seen, 4 aswell). 1 was the least gruesome and focused more on the story (because they didnt have a big budget)

X Japan will NOT be on the Saw 4 OST CD release. I'm not saying it wont be on the film, but it wont be on the CD.

http://www.artistsaddiction.com/Saw4Soundtrack.htm

They are one of the companies listed on the production notes (along with Extasy Music and 901 Highland Music) and that is one of the official places to buy it. Neither X Japan nor Dir En Grey are on it.

Its likely that X Japan will still be on the film (probably the first song when the end credits start) but we wont be hearing the song on CD. No doubt someone will record it from the cinema and get an mp3 file posted

edit: Although that is the american release. If it gets released in Japan it might have different tracks. I doubt it though as the OST's are usually the same worldwide

That's the early track listing, not the final one   But i'm saying the same as Kyubi, thre's no better (and official source) than the Production notes.

And imo it can't be an old song, old X song released through Extasy are the ones from Vanishing Vision, but neither one of that songs were released under 901 Highland Music...

Not all OST's are the same. HYDE's song COUNTDOWN and Gackt songs have been used for japanese version of american movies as songs.

I can do some research to give you movie titles as examples, if you want.

Thats the final US tracklisting. It is one of the companies involved in the production, why would they put a tracklisting that isnt the final one 2 weeks before release? Like I said, i'm not saying X arent on the movie, they just arent on the US CD Release.

And it can be an older one. If they recorded a song and didnt release it on any album, Yoshiki/X own the rights to said song, not Columbia/Sony/whoever. It could have been a song that was recorded for the Dahlia album but never made the final cut.. or it could be a new one. We'll have to wait and see.

Menacia: I said USUALLY the same, not always the same :P

X JAPAN WILL NOT APPEAR IN THE SOUNDTRACK CD
(but yes in the film)

First of all, we got this:
Quote
Bravewords reports that Artists’ Addiction Records will issue the Saw IV Original Soundtrack on CD and as a digital release on October 23rd, with an extended digital release to follow in November.

Quote
It should be noted that the Saw IV Original Soundtrack is itself an “inspired by” collection. Aside from 'Just Begun', an excerpt form Charlie Clouser’s score, the songs comprising this companion piece are not heard in the film; instead, their selection was inspired by the film.

Can I repeat?
the songs comprising this companion piece are not heard in the film :o
Source (http://www.komodorock.com/new-releases/cd-releases/sixx:am-to-appear-on-saw-iv-soundtrack-200710052156/)

That's why some tracklistings with X Japan on it were removed, because X Japan is not appearing in this release.

But the most interesting thing is that in the Saw movies, the song which was listed in the production notes used to be the main theme and were always released in extended version coming one month later.

So, we have:
- Magazines saying that X Japan would perform the main theme for a Hollywood movie released in November.
- Saw 4 is released in November in Japan.
- X Japan is listed in the production notes of Saw 4.
- Songs listed in the production notes in other Saw films were later released. This time is in November.

darkcat21: Thats what I said. X Japan might still be on the film but they wont be on the soundtrack :P

The past 3 Saw soundtracks have been "inspired by".. although Saw 1 was a mix. It had like 6 "inspired by" songs that werent in the film and about 8 songs that were from the original score. The Saw 2 and 3 soundtracks were all inspired by excluding 1 song on each which was from the film, I assumed the 4th would be the same.

I saw the movie from First to Third.

And yes you gotta watch it from the first to make more sense. If you ask me the first is still the best by far out of the three.

Anyway I just saw the live recording clip from YouTube.

I wasnt expecting anything at all

And it blew me away, I can still feel Yoshiki's melody, he still got it. I want this song

I just finished watching Saw 2 and 3 a few minutes ago (I saw the first one last week). ^^ I covered my eyes through a lot of the really gory scenes. @_@ But I still enjoyed the movies because once you look past the gore and focus on the storyline, they're actually really good. ^^ Looking forward to seeing part 4 tomorrow (and hearing "IV" from the movie theater sound system, of course)! ^_^
