Not gonna click that video about the practice since I'm plentyyyy familair but nope! The get-your-balls-off practice of it is not shy from Yoshiki's writings. He made a song called "Asphixia" back in 2006 (

With him and hide being the closest in the band (debatable, since Yoshiki and toshi grew up together) I believe he wrote about a situation they were both familiar with. I mean, I guess he could have written "Asphyxia" just about his bandmate and longtime friend committing suicide that way but that would be a little morbid and disrespectful, no? (I guess it's hard to RLY tell without the lyrics but) in line with how Yoshiki is... you know. It's not that out there.
I REALLY don't believe hide committed suicide. But I also don't believe it was from some fucking stupid muscle-stretching exercise. He was probably into auto erotic asphyxia and it would have tarnished his legacy too much to say so at the time. Now, it would be too much to say so at the expense of current X Japan's reputation. No one buys that bullshit, right? Otherwise it would be done with, right? We all know something's up. But... the band has to say something placating so

We are not trying to keep the legacy—we are trying to move forward, so our sound is going to change. I’m ready to be criticized, for example by fans saying "you should rather be this style." I’m ready for it, I’m okay with any concept of criticism-Yoshiki
