Yoshiki / Re: Yoshiki officially on twitter!
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:31:58 AM »
Lol? Amusing that Yoshiki got left out of the loop on this one. XD They'll most likely come. I think he just meant they're going to make sure that they really do have a gig in Köln.

Well, I wouldn't mind listening to Toshi sing in Russian either. XD I can almost imagine it...

Wow... Sorry if this is a newb-ish question but how did he become X Japan's bassist then?

Niceeee. Glad to know there more people on this forum who loves the band as well! Stormy Night's an awesome song! My favourite keeps changing but for now I'd say it's El Dorado. Fire After Fire's probably the first song I really like tho.

Haha, we're still gonna be waiting whether they decide to record in Japanese, English or Russian. :P The NA and Europe tours are probably backed mostly by fans who knew them before lollapalooza and Yoshiki wants to reach audiences beyond this niche (aka. the mainstream population, like Hypno said).

Yea, I wasn't thrilled about their decision to play at anime conventions either. I think playing at rock/metal festivals suits them better.  I heard they were well received in Paris though.

Thanks! The antechamber of hell huh? First time I've seen it being used as an office but I guess this is Seikima-II we're talking about. :D

They usually have a reunion tour once every 5 years so you have a bit of waiting ahead of ya. :( Once they do, I hope they'll do another ICBM! I was kinda surprised by how good Demon's English is. I also wanna see them finally perform in Shanghai this time (cuz I wanna see Demon speak Mandarin, haha).

And it's great that X Japan is finally performing in Europe. They totally underestimated you guys when they were choosing venues. XD

Yoshiki / Re: Yoshiki is putting his "Kawai" crystal piano on auction
« on: April 22, 2011, 04:11:14 AM »
So the false bids brought Yoshiki some (albeit very small amount of) international media attention?

At least the auction is starting again. Like XVikyX, I hope they'll be no pranks like this.

Well, technically the Vanishing Vision Kurenai is in "Engrish." :P I find the vocals flow better in VV (and Japanese) Kurenai. In the latest Kurenai it sounds he's singing the words at a faster beat? It's a bit awkward at first and takes some time to get used to but it doesn't bother me too much. Besides, I miss the beginning where Toshi's singing in English with hide's guitar playing in the back more than the lack of Japanese lyrics. The new intro's great and all but it just doesn't have the same melancholic and lonely feeling.

I think there's nothing word with re-recording old songs in English as long as the melody of the vocals is roughly the same.  I mean, yeah, it's gonna be different than what we're used to so it's gonna sound "weird" but what's wrong with that? I think it's possible for re-recorded English songs to sound even more superior than their Japanese counter-part.

Haha, whoops. You're right. Just checked the youtube clips and indeed he's singing in Japanese in Toronto and English in New York. I guess my memory isn't what it used to be. :P

The youtube clip is from The Satan All Stars. Unfortunately, I think they all played together only for Jack the Ripper. ;( All 13 (lol) members also played Jack the Ripper together in the Ultimate Black Mass.

As for the ULTIMATE BLACK MASS COMPLETE, yea it's a DVD box with the 3 day live in its entirety. Good luck finding it tho since it's been long out of print. But on the plus side, someone had uploaded all 8 DVD's. :) If the links aren't dead yet I can pm them to you.

Anyway, love Seikima-II! They're my all time favourite band along with X. I went to their concert in Dallas and then to X Japan's concert later on in the year so 2010 is hands down one of the best years of my life. :D

What? I thought they played the English version in the Vancouver and/or Toronto shows. Well, maybe it's just wishful thinking but I'm hoping they only reverted to playing the Japanese version because Toshi found it difficult to memorize the new English lyrics.

Besides the awesome performance, I'll never forget seeing the topless girls in almost every corner to put their shirts back on by security, only to take them off again once security had disappeared.

:o For the life of me, I can't remember seeing that...

Wohjai, I believe the good quality pictures were over in Vancouver thread, but don't quote me on that.

most of them still had their bras on, but it was still pretty wild. i guess i must have been in one of the wild sections of the audience. (off to the right a bit, about 5 rows from the stage)

Definitely didn't see any topless girls (with bras on) from my section. ;P Altho I bet it must've been a pretty nice view up from the stage, lol.

X JAPAN World Tour / Re: X-Japan World Tour Round-up
« on: October 12, 2010, 12:24:20 AM »
I think the tour was definitely a success. I went to the Vancouver and Toronto lives and the turnout was really good in both cities. Fans were really enthusiastic and the setlist is wonderful!

I think this is a really good start in their attempt to break into the North American market. Hopefully they'll keep the momentum going and actually release something soon before people/the press loose interest in them.

Don't really care if X Japan stuff starts showing up in Hot Topic or if tweens are running around with hide dolls.

Just because they're not moving doesn't mean they're not enjoying the concert, haha. XD

I must be in the minority but I tend to remember more from a concert when I don't move around too much. I stood completely still during the guitar solos and at the end of Art of Life just so I could "record" it into my mind. :P That and I was completely awestruck that I'm seeing it live!

16
Sorry to hear about all the chaos and pushing there but I'm sure it must've been a memorable experience! I'm utterly jealous of all of you who went!

17
It was mixed for me (right beside the aisle near the back). Some people were going all out while other stayed relativey still. I wouldn't say anyone was stoic tho since there was cheering and clapping at the end of each song.

I just stuck to rocking my body to the music and some cheering/screaming. I can't really pay attention to the music or the concert if I try to go crazy and do that arm raising/swinging motion or headbanging and on top of that I think I was coming down with the flu that night. Then again, that didn't stop me from screaming and doing the X jump. :P Actually, the energy from that live was amazing. I was actually considering skipping out on the concert and I didn't feel well when VE was playing but by the time X started, I was completely energized. It was like they cured me! :D

18
I'm envious of all those people in the front rows! >___<

I'll be there around 7 so hopefully I'll get to see everyone. I'll be the asian girl in the X Japan t shirt and black coat.

Welcome to the forums blue_roses!

Thanks sukisyo! It's great that you'll be going as well!

I'm definitely up for meeting at 7 to take a group pic!

Also, the setlist is near perfect for me as well. If only there's Unfinished or Sadistic Desire in there... but I can't complain. It's great that Slient Jealousy and Art of Life are part of the setlist!

Wow, thanks headpower! I'm gonna memorize it for the concert!

And I think blue roses is a great idea! I think it suits him and he'll love it (but more importantly, it goes along with my name! :P jk).
It'll be good if there is a banner since it'll definitely make finding people easier.

Hi everyone. Another lurker who wants to join the meetup here!

I'm hoping you guys will decide to meet at evening before the concert since I probably won't make it to Massey Hall until around 6pm. I really wanna take the day off work but I already took a day off for Monday to go to the Vancouver concert. ^^; Since I got my ticket kinda late I'm at row O seat 14...

Since the CD isn't out yet I don't think the new English lyrics for Kurenai would be out? Unless someone transcribes it? I want to sing along as well though! But to be honest, although I've been listening to X Japan for years I still don't know how half of the Japanese lyrics for Kurenai goes. :-X
