yeah man. at least with chidem all of the songs were technically new songs. they were just played live and leaked before that. if half the new x album is songs like kurenai and endless rain then wtf. who the hell cares if they have english singing. a few i could understand considering its for us folk in the usa, but id still rather have at least 7-8 brand new songs. we already have 4, can 4 or 5 more be that hard?
this wont be another chinese democracy time wise. nothing will be, and nobody is as crazed as axl. but the similarities are there.

im not even going to get into Chinese Democracy (see my username! but godbless ChiDem, Axl, and NuGnr)

BUT

at this point, ill be super disappointing if we only get 4 new songs (IV, Jade, Born to Be Free, and Scarlet Love Song). I'm expecting this to completely be a new studio album. They can throw in a few oldies like Kurenai, Rusty Nail, and Tears. But really, 2 years... there's no reason for there not to be more than 4 new songs on it. Think about it, how lame would it be if this turned out to be an 80% greatest hits compilation. Even if the vocals or instruments are re recorded, we already have the originals which 90% of us will call superior anyways (with good reason). So I'm hoping for this to have a decent amount of new material. If not, there is no way these delays are justified. The only other thing is if they've written a lot and hope to make another album or 2 after this.

It kinda fuckin sucks though, both my favorite bands are totally useless right now. Axl is on one of his moments of silence with band members not knowing what the hell is going on, and Yoshiki... I have no idea what's goin on in his head either.

Damn...  :-\ at least I saw "GNR" and X last year!

from what ive seen of the last live, it looks like it was an amazing show with a more stripped down approach to their earlier ones, like its focusing more on the music. how are the x japan returns shows?

ive seen a little bit of the dahlia final, i managed to download a bit but its only like  of the break with the drum solo, white poem, and like one other song

wait i just ordered a copy of Art of Life from yesasia. it says korean edition. does this not have a booklet?! what did i order?! haha

man i wish X's products were more accesible in the USA. it seems these CDs are hard to get anywhere. theyre like the biggest band in japan, how hard can it be to purchase a record? lol

i would love official copies. i cant wait to buy the new album here, and will order art of life on cd in the next few days (as its my favorite song, i SHOULD own it on CD, right??). i really want at least one show though, specifically the last live. i know the bootlegs arent the best way to go but they are significantly cheaper than a real copy. im also having trouble locating a download for the x japan returns, white/blue night shows, and the last live. all of the torrents have like 0 seeds.

thanks for the input guys! theres no way im spending 80 bucks to 100 on a 2 hour show. MAYBE on the box set of x japan returns, white night, or complete 2 but anyways i cant spend that money now anyways.

spending 20-40 on a dvd is fine even if its a bootleg

does anyone know what the quality is like though on the ebay items?

hey everyone

i live in america and therefore its difficult to get x japan records and dvds
as such, i am a college student working at a hospital so money is tight
i really do want a few of x japan's shows though
audio wise i have all of their studio albums on my ipod, on the verge of destruction, art of life live, the last live and a bunch of the instrumental albums. i also have videos of the hide memorial summit show, the first yokohoma show in august, art of live live, and a show from the blue blood tour on my computer/ipod

however, i would really like actual copies of a few of their concerts on dvd
ebay usually has a few to choose from (even if they arent official)
so im wondering what you guys would suggest out of-

x japan returns shows
the white night and blue night shows
the last live
hong kong 2009

which ones contain like a really good X experience? im leaning towards x japan returns but im really unsure, what are some of your favorite moments from each?

Im really excited for the new album. Havent been this excited since Chinese Democracy and Slash's solo album =P This is the first X Japan studio album that will come out since Ive gotten into them 4 years ago. Now Im more than grateful I made it to the Chicago show, but Im always a sucker for NEW music from bands I love (who isnt?!). Anyways, as excited as I am, Im a little worried this will be nothing more than a new greatist hits compilation with a few new songs (like Van Halen's Best of Both Worlds). I know theyre trying to break into a new market, but why not just do an actual album and then maybe a new greatest hits? Can you really count this as a new album if its 70% old material? Im hoping Jade, Born to be Free, and I.V. arent the only new tracks on the album. I am defiantly psyched of hearing the new versions of the old songs, but Id still have completely new tunes. Then again, there could be 1-3 (or more) new tracks we dont know about on it...

Also, I remember seeing a preview of the Kurenai PV. It was completely different with an awesome violin intro, but I dont think the "youve gone away from me" and hide guitar intro were on it =/
It should still be great though. The new Tears, Rusty Nail, X, and Endless Rain SHOULD be a given. Art of Life is my favorite song in history but it would be useless on this album, its best in its full glory (although I LOVED the live version on the North American tour). The original is in english, and perfect as is. Id rather new stuff be on the album...

So I think an ideal track list would be-
1. Jade
2.Rusty Nail
3. I.V.
4. Endless Rain
5. Kurenai
6. Born to Be Free
7. New Song
8. New Song
9. X
10. Tears
(If it winds up more than 10 tracks, even better)

are there any audio (or video i guess) bootlegs of this show (or ANY for the north american tour in general)?? id LOVE to be able to listen to one in the car haha
thanks =P

Sugizo / Best Sugizo Solos

I think hes freaking awesome in X and nails most of the songs. I also like his solo in Jade and Be Gone. What are some of his other best solos?

well aside from the noun version which is the plural word for "baby cow" =P
it can also be used as a verb "to break away"

Albums/Singles / Re: X JAPAN New Album(When??)
« on: October 12, 2010, 06:07:58 PM »
I personally really like Jade, I.V., and Born to be Free (and Without You if you count that). I know they tend to be more simplistic but I still think theyre awesome songs. The new studio version of Jade especially... I REALLY think they nailed it and like Sugizo's solo. Anyways, Im really excited about the new album but im worried it might become just a "best of" album with the three new songs. From what it sounds like, there isn't a lot of other new material. Im still excited to hear the re recorded songs but we still already have the actual songs. Do you guys think theres a chance for more new material on the album that we haven't heard yet? Itll be awesome no matter what but a buzzkill if we've heard everything on it...

Thoughts?

Heres what I have so far for the final lyrics of Jade
the (???) means i cant understand that part
i cant speak or read japanese so im assuming the japanese parts the same
BTW i LOVE the studio version
and so far the lyrics are some of Yoshiki's best english ones I think

Walk through the light to find your shadow
Till your gods throw you from the edge
Sank in the dark to feel the distance
Was it your secret?
Stop holding your fear
Let memory live and die alone
No need to be there,
Let your desire scream, ’till you feel alive
‘Cause you are beautiful, your scars are beautiful, Like the jade
You’ll still shine when you sink into the sea
When the bleeding, scarlet jealousy comes away, believe
Make (dawn of the mind?) the wings of night, looking to the eyes of fallen angels
Sink like a stone into the dark where no light can touch
Will God break my fall?
I feel the mystery tries to take me alone, to the end of the world
Where I still believe (???)
Hold your light ‘Cause you are beautiful
Your (love or blood?) was beautiful, yesterday
I still hide, at the scene of memories
Oh I still hold my rosary beneath the way of life
Will the tears wipe the bloody face of love (???)
Flows like the stars of the sky
Walk in the ocean out of mind
Makes me wanna die (???)
Ah, another day has gone, another self has gone to the flame
It’s burning love
自分で切り裂いた 胸の傷跡さえ 未来になる 迄
‘Cause you are beautiful, your scars are beautiful like the jade
You’ll still shine, when you sink into the sea
When all the bleeding, scarlet jealousy comes away, believe
Our love forever, You’ll believe, Leave your mystery, In your heart
My Jade

Oh My God. I cant believe the show it topped even my trip to canada last year to see Guns N' Roses! I've seen a lot of bands from Rush to Aerosmith to The Who and a lot in between lol. I knew X was going to be special but to top my favorite, Guns N Roses... hehe.
Anyways Ill share my experience =P
My girlfriend picked me up from college in Michigan in the morning and we started our journey to Chicago. I was soooo freaking excited. She forgot the ipod cord so we couldnt listen to X on the way (made it more awesome once the show started hehe) After about 4-5 hours we could finally see the skyline and we drove to Evanston to visit my friend William, which was awesome since I never get to see him. We ate dinner at a thai place then dropped him off. Then luckily, it was only 7 miles to the Riviera.
We got to the Riviera at 7:30 on the dot and found parking right across the street. It was so epic seeing a line of people trying to get in and seeing the sign say TONIGHT: X JAPAN! It was awesome and my first time seeing other X fans in person.
We got into the theater it was pretty packed and the theater had an old, but awesome haunting and run down feel to it. We made it to the floor and stood in the back surprised with how good our view was and i was happy to hear VE say, this is our last song! (I only endured 3 minutes of their crap yay) They went off stage and the epic wait began.
I really loved how they played X songs on the speakers, they did a symphonic "Without You" and then a symphonic "Forever Love" and they had a really cool sound to them (throughout the show I thought all the symphonic playback had just an epic vibe) We all shouted chants like "X" and "hide" etc and finally, the lights went down. The intro music was beyond epic. My arms were killing cause i kept them up doing the X sign the whole time! I saw the band for the first time hidden on the side and freaked, then finally Yoshiki came out and stood on the drums looking at us. Then the band came out.

1. Jade
Jade is my favorite of the new songs and let me tell you, this was so freaking cool live. The band and Toshi sounded amazing and were right in front of us, as my gf and I made our way to the very front. Heath's bass was pounding with Yoshiki's drums and Toshi sounded awesome. Sugizo and Pata joined in on the verses with the power chords. Then the chorus came and EVERYONE sang and put their hands in the air. It was just so great. I was FREAKING OUT!

2. Rusty Nail
The classic intro to Rust Nail came on and EVERYONE exploded. The song sounded great, just like the studio version but mixed with that awesome live feeling. The middle portion came and had everyone singing then i braced for the hide playback still excited. Then, I noticed something completely different, SUGIZO was playing the solo! There was a bit of sound issues which might be why it sounded different but once he hit the wah, it was fine. I personally thought it was totally awesome he was doing the solo and especially for the first time. So all in all, it was excellent.

3. Silent Jelousy
A total classic, and so far the oldest song in the setlist. I love the piano intro and Yoshiki did a little solo before he started the intro. Toshi then did the solo singing part and NAILED it. He went really high and his voice didnt crack a bit. The heavy part hit in and everyone again when nuts. The energy of the crowd so far was just unlike anything ive seen before. The solo was excellent and Pata and Sugizo harmonized it perfectly.

4. Drain
I DO actually really like the song, so I have no complaints about it being in the setlist. It was dont only with Pata, Yoshiki, and Heath with a backing track. The sound was a little off overall with Heath's bass making a lot of feed back. Toshi sounded good but i think he noticed the sound was off too. Overall I thought it was awesome though and it was great to hear Drain live. Although it was my least favorite song of the night (still loved it) my gf said it was her favorite so far haha.

5. Violin+ Piano Solos and Kurenai
Im personally glad they do the violin and piano interlude. Its  REALLY beautiful and Sugizo's violin sounds downright epic. He played a bit of the godfather theme which reminded me of slash hehe and the star spangled banner. Yoshiki then joined in and they BURST into Kurenai. Just a blast of energy from the crowd and the band. The solo was really awesome and then Toshi had the audience sing the chorus a few times. I missed seeing hide and hearing his part but still, one of my favorites of the night!

6. Born to Be Free
I think this song is just awesome. Jade is still my favorite of the new songs but i really like BTBF and IV. BTBF has a great chorus, everyone was nuts and the wing design on the screen was cool. The coolest part of the song was the slow chorus after the breakdown and solo. This time Yoshiki did the awesome sweep part on the piano and also just played the chords. So I heard both ways, i loved it.

7. Drum Solo
It was cool seeing Yoshiki doing a little solo. He was more into just having fun then showing off his skills but it was cool. He kept pounding both bass drums and going nuts over it.

8. I.V.
It started with Yoshiki on piano and Toshi having everyone sing the chorus. It was really persnal and I was glad to see Toshi involved with us. He grabbed a camera man's camera and started filming everyone. I was right up front so I was on the camera a lot. The song then actually started and Toshi's mic cut out a bit but thats more than ok. Sugizo again came right up by me which was really awesome, he looks SO COOL! His guitar was a bit too loud for the slow part but it didnt hinder the song.

9. X
Let me just say I have NEVER experienced what I went through during X. EVERYONE went fucking NUTS. I was so happy to actually be apart of the X jump. The whole place shook. The solo was awesome, and Pata was RIGHT BY ME, then like there was the break thing. It took my by surprise... YOSHIKI JUMPED RIGHT ON TOP OF ME!! My gf and I were holding him up and the floor became like quicksand. EVERYONE rushed towards us. It was kind of scary and I had to push people back to protect my gf. But it was so awesome. Security had to drag Yoshiki out as people were trying to drag him back into the crowd. They finished the song and then again I was taken by surprise... HE JUMPED INTO US AGAIN. This time i grabbed my girlfriend out of the way haha cause i think she was already pwned the first time and I already held Yoshiki up once. It was really cool.

BREAK
Everyone was doing chants and shouting for hide and Yoshiki and finally Yoshiki came out. Toshi came out and asked if we wanted to hear Yoskiki, and Yoshiki did his whole rant about pizza and America hehe. The best part was when he finally talked about hide =) It was good to hear everyone finally cheer for hide.

10. Endless Rain
THE X Japan song. Great how the whole band sits for it as Yoshiki pounds away on the piano. It was REALLY emotional. The arrangment was different and they got rid of the piano solo and had the guitar solo earlier which was my favorite of the night. Especially with Sugizo playing with Pata. The part where only WE sang the chorus was simply magical. I was so happy to be apart of it.

11. ART OF LIFE
I never, ever, ever thought Id get to hear this song. The version theyre doing this tour is just beautiful. It was a moment I will never forget. It started with Sugizo doing a violin solo then he left the stage and the back track to the piano solo could be heard. It was haunting hearing it with no band. Then finally, Yoshiki came on and delivered some of the best 8 minutes of piano I have ever heard. I could feel his passion. The orchestra cut in and slowely got louder as Yoshiki battled with his inner demons. The orchestra then overpowered the piano and the final note held. The band then just exploded with energy and played the grand finale. Everything about it was perfect; Ive never gone so crazy before. Then before I knew it, Toshi was on the last note. He screamed it with such emotion and it truly was, the best performance I have ever seen.

12. Curtain Call ~ Forever Love
Forever Love immediatly followed on the loudspeakers. It was a really good acoustic, symphonic version. The band said their goodbyes, threw the water bottles and took pictures of us. Then, they were gone, completing one of the best nights of my life.

hope it all works out bahbah! at least you will make it to the show!

we wont be able to camp as were arriving around the time doors open haha
as long as were in the theater thats what matters though. although being in the front would be too awesome, id love to get a pick from pata or sugizo or one of yoshikis drum sticks lol
does anybody know how the seating works? it just says tickets are 30 dollars... how do you get like a balcony sear or something?

has anyone going to the show seen X before?

Hi everyone!

why is this thread so dead? concerts in less than a week! =P
anyways, im new to the forum (been lurking for a while though haha) and i just wanted to give a little bit of my X background.

Im an american and i dont speak a word of Japanese (well minus X lyrics and band member names) and about 4 years ago i was looking up the Dream Theater song, a change of seasons. in the comment section i saw a debate between X fans talking about a song called, Art of Life and the dream theater fans. I thought these people were crazy saying some "obscure" japanese band could topple dream theater. regardless, i looked up Art of Life. i was immediatly moved by the song and now looking back four years, X Japan has become one of my favorite bands of all time. they are surely special and have made music that has moved me like none other. I never thought id have the chance to see them even with their reunion and kept telling myself things like the concerts have been marred by delays, it isnt the same without hide (who also became one of my fav guitarists of all time), and they dont usually play Art of Life, etc. all these i told myself to simply make myself feel better hehe but in truth i always dreamed of seeing X Japan, especially with Sugizo on guitar. I quickly ate up IV, fell in LOVE with Jade, and now am really into Born to Be Free. I was thrilled with hearing about a new album finally coming out and figured that would be enough for me. Then I heard the best news yet. They were playing at Lollapalooza. Im from Michigan and it would be a 5 hour better yet, my girlfriend had tickets for lolla (she isnt even an X fan haha). However as it turned out, I could not go and by chance my gf ended up seeing X... kind of funny to think about she was in the right festival at the right time so she saw them for me and got me a shirt. I was sad I missed out but figured it was just a 5 song setlist. I then prayed the North American tour would include a stop in Detroit. Finally, the dates were announced and it was only 7 cities. I was really upset seeing as im now back to doing my college courses -_- Last week I decided to check out the show at the WIltern and man, I was blown away. Seeing them in a small theater setting and the setlist... Silent Jelousy, Drain, among the usual staples plus the three new songs. then I saw the encore... Art of Freaking Life. My favorite song in history. I saw they played the entire second half of the song. I really figured there was no way this would be played as it isnt exactly "radio friendly" and theyre  trying to break into America. I sadly told my gf of the awesomeness of the tour. She then asked, "Why are we not going, again?" haha. So now i have decided that we are going to drive all the way to Chicago, see the show, and drive back. My family wont know and i wont even miss a class hahaha. Im just so freaking excited... Im seeing X Japan, I would have never thought that was a possibility! the 6th cant come soon enough!

So yeah, sorry about my rant, im just really excited and wanted to share that with someone... i doubt anyone will read it =P
