Title: Luna Sea WORLD TOUR!
Post by: CharonCaori on August 30, 2010, 10:09:24 PM
Hello! Some of you probably already know this, but Luna Sea is giving an announcement in Hong Kong in a few hours. It'll be on ustream. http://www.facebook.com/pages/LUNA-SEA-official-facebook/113089348733652

It will be at 3AM EST here (I think) though, so I don't think I can stay up... I hope it's a reunion concert announcement or a new album (no more compilations, please!) or something.

I didn't know where to post this, so I hope that here is okay.

World Tour! They're coming to LA December 4th... I don't know if I can fly out for that. They announced some more dates in other countries too, but I didn't catch the exact locations.

The Hollywood Palladium dec 4 (LA)
germany nov 27
hong kong dec 11
taiwan dec 18
tokyo dome dec 23-24
AND MORE (thanks, Sugizo!)

I'm sorry, I'm tired, and can't understand much right now, but this is exciting. Good night, guys.

I hope I can make it to the LA show as well in December. If so, I'd be seeing X-Japan and Luna Sea in the same year, fucking epic!

Nice!

According to Sugizo they are also releasing new songs if the Twitter feed that's translating the conference is correct. :)

Ah, this is great! Sure, I can't see any of the performances, but new music will be fine! Sugizo is awesome, not only does he still do his solo activities, he is now part of the two biggest rock bands in Japan! Now that's what I call a hard worker!

I kinda want to go...(to the germany one) but I don't see how I could persuade people at work to give me the days off.
Sure, if it was for X I'd say 'fuck you, I'm going...' but I dunno if I should do that for Luna Sea.
I do like them but I'm not exactly a die hard fan and then...I dunno. I do have one of those 'must.go.' urges though....

I must admit I'm tempted to goto the Germany show. It's awfully close to my Birthday as well, so it may prove to be very do-able.

Of the old school Visual Kei crop I think Luna Sea are very much a must-see. The fact that we have both X Japan and Luna Sea back on the scene right now is something to be very, very thankful for. The chance we are getting will be envied by many in years to come - so I really don't want to regret it.

Wow, fantastic news (Sugizo has a busy few months ahead)!!! New music as well = awesome! I love Luna Sea!

Really tempted by Germany, but I don't think I can manage as I have a crazy time at uni then with deadlines etc. :(

I hope the "and more" might be a few more European dates!!!!
Title: Re: Luna Sea WORLD TOUR!
Post by: CharonCaori on August 31, 2010, 07:48:34 PM
I really wanted them to come to the east coast, but... I might be able to crash with a friend in LA and it's on a Saturday so I might just have time to fly over... It's still pretty expensive though... The Tokyo Dome dates are REALLY tempting, since I will know PLENTY of Japanese by then, and have been DYING to go to Japan, but I don't know if I want to plan a trip to Japan in just a few months, especially when I don't have a passport...

I think I'll try for LA. Does anyone know when the ticket sales for the palladium will start?

First time such a band plays in Europe, and Germany has a huge fandom. I remember what happened with Gackt, and HE is NOWHERE near the level of Luna Sea...so yeah, I'm kinda scared that the tickets will be sold out in 3 minutes.

konticket and neotokyo are involved in ticket sale.....just made me remember the Gackt ticket-sale disaster with servers being not accessible and stuf....good luck to anybody who tries to grab one  ;D

8th september, 12'o clock :P

I guess we should make a new thread for the people who are going :)

And Yukun... Maybe Gackt is bigger at some places... but in Germany, I doubt many still know Luna Sea. o_O it's mostly the "old fans" who are interested in them... Just like with X, but I guess...smaller?
Or maybe Luna Sea fans are just invisible and don't like talking much... xP

They have been dead for years, so I don't think too many will even hear about the concert before it happens. XDDD

And can you pay with banktransfert or only with visa card?

I paid with a visa card but i think a banktransfert should make it. You just have to understand german which is not hard (easier for you as you speak dutch ^^)

Palma, right now I wished I lived in Toronto!!!
If I had the choice between Luna Sea and X Japan, it would be X Japan!!!
Going to see Luna Sea is like consolation in the wait of X Japan coming to Europe  ;D (but also because it is a unic chance to see Luna Sea and know more about them).
I only now 1 song from Luna Sea: Believe: but I love the song, I know it because ToshI and the singer of Luna Sea sang it in Hide memorial thing.
And I hope Sugizo will play violin in concert Luna Sea.

But for me the real thing is to see X Japan, Japan, Japan, Japan....XD

Rosier's the song that got me into Luna Sea. I love the PV. Mother is also a really cool song. Look around for some videos, they're really good.

I'm still trying to decide if flying from here to LA is worth it for the weekend... at least I have until wednesday morning to think about it...

:D Yes, but they spoke about a European Tour. A tour = different cities. So, they have to know that Brussels is not only capital from Belgium, but also capital from Europe with also amazing chocolates and Beers.
So, even if they don't come to Brussels, I like to believe they will come! In the past, everybody who wanted to conquer Europe did it by conquer Belgium (or at least make their battles in Belgium: check out history). So, if X Japan want to conquer Europe, they have to come to Belgium. I know it is a weird logic  :D  but I like my logic!

I don't think they'll have a support act, unless they drag them over from Japan. Since this is a world tour with only a few stops, they'll probably only have one promotion company. It'll also probably be much better-run than the X Japan concerts...

I have no idea though, so I could be completely wrong. I'm sure it'll be fun, though!

I only hope people won't start bashing the support band because it's driving me mad already

I wish they teamed up with X and did a tour together or something, being managed by Luna Sea, if posible XD

Neo tokyo charged 69€ to my account, I wonder when they'll start sending the tickets! I think I'll have to listen to Luna Sea again because I only "know" 2-3 songs like Rosier ans such lol

gravity
Storm
Time is Dead
Rosier
Tonight
I For You
Moon/Providence/Mother
Precious
Up To You
Believe
Wish

How long do you guys think the concerts will be? I'm not expecting a full Tokyo Dome show, but I'm hoping their concert is at least a little longer than X Japan's. =P

I didn't even think about that yet... xD It would be nice if they'd be longer than the X concerts though, I mean...the tickets are a whole bunch more expensive. >_< For the europe concert anyway. (over 60€....that's more that 85$...)

I wonder if someone could pick up band merchandise for me at one of the LS shows? ^^ There's no way I'll be able to make it to LA or any of the other shows, barring a sudden unexpected inheritance or lottery win. ;) a t-shirt or hoodie or something, on the other hand, I can definitely do... ;)

The LA show is a lot more expensive than the X shows, too... (I hate these stupid websites and their "ticket fees"... How difficult can it be to email me a ticket? =P)

LunaSlave, I can probably try to get you a shirt or something after the concert. Could someone who is going to the show in Germany try to take a picture of the merch booth? Thanks!

Holy crap, the concert is this weekend!

I actually have an extra ticket for the LA show. A friend flaked out on me. It's probably a little late at this point, but if anyone wants an extra (free!) ticket, PM me and I'll see you on Saturday.
Sorry, gave it away. See you at the sow!

^LOL, I bought their Final Live DVD set a couple of years back and have not managed to watch the whole thing the whole way through without going to sleep or turning it off.......
I think perhaps their setlist is way too long......but their long set lists are excellent when you actually attend a live...for me, live concerts always go so fast!

LOVE TO HEAR THAT...it's gonna be my long sleep..I mean his voice not special at all to make me stunning for 6 hours.first song will be great, second one still great..the last, will be disaster..perhaps you guys give him some advice for not doing a such scary thing just to prove himself a good singer..( I thought they have very long song, too long..someone told me that they'd already sing more than five songs?)sorry....

I think that setlist is a little wrong. I honestly don't remember everything they played (there were sooo many songs one right after the other!) but they definitely played Storm. That was an awesome show! Almost perfect! They all looked like they were having so much fun. The audience rocked out, too. I hope the rest of the world tour is awesome, too!

(Oh, forgot, but apparently people saw Yoshiki in one of the balconies or something. I was having too much fun watching the band to look. =P)

Yoshiki's probably looking for some tips on how a reunion should be, if you told me the year X reformed that Luna Sea would have an album out and toured both America and Europe before X,(in less than half a year too!) I would've called you a nutter.
Title: Re: Luna Sea WORLD TOUR!

Luna Sea are going all out, I'm seriously mind blown by their campaign. I mean a free Tokyo Dome show? Who the hell is even willing to afford that? Filming their LA show and making a 3D theatre movie with it? Such a great gimmick. Not only that, but no waiting game and empty promises. I trust Luna Sea's words. Can't say that much of Yoshiki's (even though I wish I would)!

Anyways, so jealous of everyone who could attend the tour. I guess it's fair because at least I saw X this year... have to leave some for others;)

And they played 20 songs, which is what every band at Luna Sea/X Japan's age plays. X Japan's concerts are getting more like Ozzy's in terms of length. And yes, I havn't forgotten about Yoshiki's health problems, I don't think I'd have a problem if they took out one of the ballads and Drain and replaced them with two Vanishing Vision songs.

I don't generally like the idea of re-recording and with the re-recorded songs on Period I preferred the original versions (possibly due to the down-sized drum set Shinya was using as the time) but what the hell, I'll pick it up anyway.

Whoa, just noticed Ryuichi's got the Toshi scar makeup as well as the hair, looks exactly like Toshi, as far as I know, Toshi was the only one who had that look back then, so is Ryuichi tributing to Toshi's old style?

whoa, thanks for the videos :D
According to Luna Sea & Ryuichi fans that I know, Ryuichi is a big fan of Morrie (Dead End), he often went to Dead End concert when he was young. And he even sang a Dead End cover as tribute for Morrie on one of his solo album.

Because of how awesome these Luna Sea concerts have been, its made me think of all the things X has been missing/doing wrong and once again I've got a lot in my mind that I don't like about X right now, I'll try not to cover the forums with huge paragraphs of posts like before, but one thing I'd like to bring up after looking at these videos is the horrible camera work at a lot of X's recent live shows, the 2008 reunion shows and the 2009 countdown gig were quite good, but what the hell was going on at the Hong Kong lives, the 2009 Tokyo Dome shows and (imo) some of the camera work was bad on Yokohama as well.

You look at the Luna sea videos, there's different camera angles all the time, close ups, looks professional , exciting, you can see the member's emotions ect. Most of X's camera work on the other hand is like: "we've got a few cameras in a line facing the members' from the front, at a distance". Nothing interesting, no variation, nothing. I almost don't mind if the Hong Kong lives don't get a dvd release.

Also, more videos, Sandy Time & Symptom.

great clips Ulquiorra :) and wow...Ryuichi's singing on Symptom sounds less restrained than anything I've heard since maybe 1997 when his voice went 'pop'. awesome stuff.

The first video is just audio of NIGHTMARE, I think its from the same concert, and apparently it has different lyrics, not sure how much of the lyrics are different though.

Thanks for the documentary rafaelo.

I really hope Yoshiki was at one of these concerts, maybe it'll make him realise that he needs to really up the quality of future concerts, X Japan have lost way too much of their rock spirit, I understand Yoshiki's condition that makes him more tired then normal, but there should be a few more songs than ten, and he should bring back Week End and Orgasm, they've only played about four proper rock tunes from their first three albums for eight years of their career, and now they go and take out half of that, to replace them with Jade and I.V? They are good songs, but to me they are half ballads. Things need to be change for future X concerts.

Perhaps having a return to Toshi's fountain hair, and Pata's super mohawk will give them the power to play stuff like Weekend and Orgasm more regularly. haha.

But yes, it would be nice to see a return to some older tunes. I personally would love to see Vanishing Love, Stab Me In The Back, and Standing Sex performed live again. Luna Sea pretty much did what I wanted to see X do with a return to visual kei and old tunes. If Luna Sea can bring back older songs, perhaps X can as well.

But seriously, there isn't even a 5 sec prewiev of ANY of the songs? This is killing me! I want to hear them.

You think, it´s a bit like the story of Samson, when his hair was cut, he lost his strength? I hope it´s  not like that, and at first reading I thought, oh no, please let them keep their hair like it is, Returning to former looks is like some people, wich havn´t realized that the ´68 are long gone or mother, who dress like there teenage daughters, very ridiculous. But by the other hand, there are artist and to do something like going back to old times could really entertaining.
I´ve never been to an X Japan conzert, because neither far east nor Amerika is just around the corner, but I went to LUNA SEA in Bochum and the concert was gorgeous, seems the guys on stage have had a lot of fun while doing there work and we, the audience too. So I hope X will come to Europr to, and then we can ask, if we could make a setlist for them. How is this?

I think it's possible that X will do the same thing like Luna Sea did here. A One-Night-Only return to their old style and tunes. Maybe a concert which features only songs of their first two albums.

now that be cool if X did anything like that. Considering how successful Luna Sea were, I'm really hoping for it.

There is no reason for any band to feel like they can only ever perform there "long gone by, outdated" songs once ever again, its not clear from this concert that Luna Sea wont perform these old songs again, and really, X is basicallly the only rock band that completely abandons every single one of thier old tunes, what's even worse is that "old tunes" to them means almost every song from their first three albums, but their fourth album from ten years ago, oh that's okay.

Of course there is no reason. But by looking at Luna Seas other setlists since their reunion and comparing them to the Lunacy-Gig, I think it's pretty clear that some of the songs like Shade propably won't be played that often in the future.

EDIT: And don't get me wrong. I'm not saying or wishing that a band should ditch their old songs and play only new stuff, not at all.

...X is basicallly the only rock band that completely abandons every single one of thier old tunes, what's even worse is that "old tunes" to them means almost every song from their first three albums, but their fourth album from ten years ago, oh that's okay.

X hasn't abandoned every old tune really. Alot of the songs they do play regularly are from Blue Blood. Kurenai, Endless Rain, and X are guarantees for every show. Weekend and Celebration are played quite often, and even Blue Blood and Orgasm were performed once since their reunion. Not to mention an acoustic version of Rose of Pain at the Tokyo Dome a couple of years back, and part of Unfinished was performed at the Yokohama concerts. If i'm correct, thats every song from the Blue Blood album with the exception of Easy Fight Rambling. Oh, and of course XClamation for obvious reasons.

Art of Life has also had several performances since the reunion, even if they split it up into two parts during two nights at the Tokyo Dome performances and in Hong Kong. They even brought the second half during the North American tour.

When it comes to Vanishing Vision and Jealousy, thats a different story. They obviously can't really perform Phantom of Guilt since it was written partly by Taiji, and I also suspect thats why they cease to play Desperate Angel and Voiceless Screaming as well. As for Sadistic Desire, Miscast and Scars, I would say they don't play them out of respect for hide, but they do perform Celebration and Drain occasionally, so i'm not entirely sure why.

Silent Jealousy got performed during their first reunion show at the Tokyo Dome, and was also brought for the North American tour, and they're was an orchestral version of Say Anything playing over the speakers while seating people during the North American tour. Love Replica even got played during both nights of the Yokohama gigs.

On the Dahlia album, some of the songs are performed regularly, like Rusty Nail and Drain. The title track, Dahlia has only had one play since their reunion. I'm not sure how often they've played Forever Love, Crucify My Love, Longing, or Tears, but I don't think they've have very much regular play in the reunion.

And then of course they have new songs to perform for the promotion of their new album. So its completely wrong to say "completely abandons every single one of their old tunes...almost every song from their first three albums". You can say that for Jealousy and Vanishing Vision, but they've played almost every song from Blue Blood, and they don't exclusively play songs from Dahlia. In fact, they only perform like half the songs from that album now. Their set lists today include songs from Blue Blood, Art of Life, Dahlia, and new songs. On occasion, Silent Jealousy too. They only album they leave in the dust is Vanishing Vision.

Playing songs from Vanishing Vision and more from Jealousy would be awesome, don't get me wrong. But saying they completely abandoned every song from their first three albums and that they only concentrate on the fourth album and newer stuff is just completely false.

You're right Brandon.. But I'm pretty sure that Celebration hasn't been played once since the reunion. Hide's version was shown in the first reunion shows as a "hide solo", and Pata was playing. But the rest of the band haven't played it. And also seems like they have totally dropped out Weekend because the last time they played it was in... the beginning of 2009 if I remember correctly.

Yea, your right about Celebration and Weekend. But at least they've been played. I personally would have liked Weekend part of the North American tour, but oh well.
