I'm interested, actually. I loved Taiji's biography, so Yoshiki's should be good too. It's about X, so it can't be bad, right? XD

As far as I know, kinokuniya can help you order any Japanese book you want ... so, maybe you should ask the people on kinokuniya to help you ordering this book ...

No, there was a good chunk missing. :( I'm not sure how much exactly, but I know the Toshi section was not translated along with a bit more.

It costs 2200YEN (~$22/€16) and the release date is May 27th (not May 25th as said in the first post, it might go on sale in stores earlier or the date of release might have been changed, but it's only two days).

I wish my book would come NOW.

Also, I dun understand why cdjapan lists the release date as May 27th while hmv japan and other japanese sites list it as May 25th...:S

Just bought the book today and read a little.  so glad at the very last part of the last chapter he mentioned the HK concerts ...my eyes got teary ..men I have never felt like that (not even going to their concerts for the first time)

I like his photo in kimono the best...soooo cuuuuuuuteeeeey XD

Yoshiki's Mum is the greatest Mum one could have hoped for.  All of us who love X owe her enormously.  She fully supported her son despite initially wanted Yo to be "normal" but then when he decided to go to Tokyo, she sent him 500000yen a month and Yoshiki kept working..and when he decided to produce VV and went to his Mum (also with his brother's persuation) ... 10000000 yen went to Yoshiki's account and he never asked for her money again.   All after his Mum made a lot of $$ on investment after selling the Kimono shop.  Life is strange.  I think his father, afterall, is looking after them from somewhere despite leaving them early.

The rest was history as we said.

Yes, many thanks to Yoshiki's mom. I can't imagine the pressure she faced with other moms, her kid being not so stream-lined. I hear it's kinda strict in Japan reagarding one's conduct.

Gee, I managed to read 2 and a half pages in um..4 hours or sth....
I feel...proud....NOT.
(I also feel vaguely depressed from what I was reading.)
If my teacher asks tomorrow if I studied for this year's japanese finals...I can almost claim I did though.


Also, I wonder how much truth is in the news about the movie thing?
Well, I always wished they would make a movie based on Yoshiki's life and/or X.....so I'll be very happy if it's true...^o^.
It'd also be very funny to see how much are we going to hate the actors who're going to portray X in it....:D

Not only Yoshiki's Mum fully support his son financially, she also stood by her decision of giving Yo the freedom without her interference.  He was such a rebel at school where at one point the teacher finally called and spoke to his Mum asking her to make sure his son not to miss school again, to the teacher's suprise Yo's Mum simply answered she wouldnt as she knew his son and that he knew what he's doing so she won't interfere whatever he did... (I vaguely remember once the teacher also asked his Mum to tell Yo not to smoke...and she turned and spoke to Yo..."told you not to smoke.........................................at school" XD)

Just finished reading the preface.  it was so so sad.  Mainly mentioned how Yoshiki learned about hide's death while he was driving in LA.  He couldnt believe it at first and totally went blank for a long while and when he returned to his studio and called back to Japan where his friend left a message to Yo's assistant...he still refused to believe it until he boarded the first flight back to Tokyo (and thought of beating up whoever involved in this joke ;_; )...finally he learned the news confirming hide's death staring at the monitor in his seat during the flight back to Tokyo showing NHK news without wearing the headset...his tears started rolling down uncontrollably behind his sunglasses..

That´s really sad ... thank you for posting this, holly.x   I was wondering what was written in the preface (at least I could make out that is was about hide and the day of his death). Thank you so much for the short translation ... it´s so sad to know Yoshiki´s soul never healed from that blow.

I was trying to read this too but it was too hard because 1. i read too slow (when it's japanese) and 2. it was making me very sad...:S
I've read about 3 pages of it though....
I'll read more but I feel so bad when I read it that it makes it quite hard....>.<

Since I cannot understand Japanese, hence English or Chinese version will do.  I keep my fingers crossed. X Japan wast 10 years went on hiatus... VK/Jrok band after age 40, you gonna run with time...they really need to catch up and no more separated.  When is their next tour schedule either in Japan or outside between now and Paris tour in Oct 2009.  We as X fan has been waiting so long ..for many delay and postponement.  Yoshi spent nearly 10 years on unfinished project Viloet UK and it's not justified for his energy, time and money.. he does not to have another 10 years...

Its just called Yoshiki/佳树 by 小松成美 and can be found in the Chinese book department. When I bought it, it was on display prominently with other new books. Think you can't miss it. Just check with the staff. Good luck on the hunt!

So, the plastic surgery is just a rumor? I personally don't believe it. Recently I saw an old, old video where Yoshiki was at the age of 20-22 *you know--very little make-up, half-spiked hair etc*, and he was definitely cute and, I'd say, beautiful back then. I didnt see a reason for plastic surgery.
BTW, our health and youthful appearance really depends on the water we drink *and its quality*; this theory is scientifically grounded ;)

On our Japan trip I was able to find a copy of the book in a used things store in Shimokitazawa. Unfortunatellly my japanese isn't that good  ;)

On the interwebz I found a complete translation. I think this is the version from xwonderland because of the "credit" anouncements. It's not 100% correct, for example the favourite Manga from PATA is Patalliro (Patariro) not Patarico, but it's really worth to read
