The North America Tour is hardly over as YOSHIKI already announces X JAPAN's plans for next year to the press.
YOSHIKI said, they already decided to play in France and Germany, and also the UK and other European countries are under discussion. The European Tour will take place in spring. Further, they want to play in Japan and North America again by May, followed by concerts in Asian countries like Korea, Taiwan and Thailand. X also got offers to play in Chile, Peru and Brazil.
No definite dates have been announced yet, but we'll immediately let you know if anything is announced. We can't wait

This is awesome news! It is VERY important for them to keep a steady flow or news and information while the press is still hot on them. Also, they really need to have their web designers finish their xjapanmusic.com site, that is very important.

The only way I'm ever going to see them live is if they come to Finland so I'm really hoping they come...
There a strong possibility that if they come to the nordic countries they would come to Finland though since that was listed two years ago and the reputation Finland has with a lot of Japanese bands coming here.
Also I have like 5 friends here that I've converted to X fans and we would all come to the gig together.
They might be a bit shocked by the whole visual kei fanbase though since they didn't really listen to any Japanese music until I introduced them to X Japan, Sex Machineguns, Loudness and Anthem. :D

They're already gods in Asia. Europe, specifically France, DEFINITELY deserves the next stop(s) because they've had so many let-downs since the reunion. I think when they come back to North America, they should do no less than the same places they did this time, only have certain major cities a 2-night show or something. I'd also say most of the venues they used were perfect size, unless a ton of people are converted between now and their next tour, who knows.

YES THOMAS ! I truly think they will come back man...we gave them a great reception at Massey Hall and Yoshiki said it was one of their most memorable shows! I actually hope they choose Massey again, what a wonderful venue...every seat there is amazing..the sound is really nice too..love the atmosphere.

yea i agree feudal, massey turned out to be a great place to have it, There was pretty much a great view anywhere you sat....excluding the fellow beside me that was RIGHT behind a pole lol. And the sound there was absolutely incredible.

Yes, Toshi has a great sense of humour that doesn't translate over to English. He needs to be able to speak English much better then he does now. I guess the same could be said for both Pata and Heath.
They have to be able to communicate in English if they want to make it in here. All of them and not just Yoshiki.

Orgasm is a MUST. The fact that they didn't play it was my only big deception.
Massey Hall will never allow pyros and such because it's an old theater made out of wood. But, as 4skin pointed out, another venue might!

Ricoh's an interesting venue. reminds me of a miniature Air Canada Centre. it's not a bad size, and even if they couldn't fill it, they could always cut the place off at the halfway point, which i've seen happen a couple of times. should be able to do pyro, as it's a pretty large venue. something about seeing X at an outdoor venue though. it'd be phenomenal!

(Sometimes it feels like Yoshiki is focusing so much on taking over the US that he's not taking the fans in Canada as seriously). Tour schedules are crazy busy, especially for a band like X that have such dynamic and grandiose performances, but getting some publicity and time with the fans can only do good things for them... Or at least that's my wishful thinking... ::)

Well you see the problem is that the U.S and Canadian market is more or less the same. I agree with sukisyo but to make the situation easier for them I would stop saying "trying to break into the U.S market" and say "Trying to break into the North American market." It's sad that Canada is often thrown on the back burner, in the shadow of our Southern cousins. I understand that the U.S is far larger in terms of profit and fame etc. but since Canada is so similar to the U.S in terms of popular media, I think both should be recognized equally. I find it interesting how this X-Freaks forum is very Canadian-dominated. I don't think Yoshiki is trying to ignore Canada; it's obvious in that they played 2 shows here and had a great time. I think we'll see them again in 2011.

Canada is a different market
Vancouver is very...JAPANESE centric. lots of overseas students, and RICH RICH history with the Japanese as well. There are some 3rd/4th gen Japanese ppl on the west coast
as for toronto..center of the universe..and..err...since i see some hockey references..

then off to dinner at some high end sushi joint..which is popular with celebrities..even tho i think it sucks there..
overpriced food..hahaha

that's the way that Toshi's been addressing crowds for over a decade, so i don't think he'll be stopping any time soon. nothing wrong with getting a crowd even more pumped up, and he does a great job of doing it!

We do we do! The Comic Expo at the end of August would probably be their best bet because it has a wider range of attendants than the anime cons (err, speaking from experience). And there is a stage already set up right in the convention hall (they used to film Canadian Idol - blarg - in there, and now So You Think You Can Dance, I think). There are also quite a few international fans coming to Toronto just for the convention. We know that hype is just as effective in gathering fans as good publicity, and there are already so many people who attend conventions because of fandoms or fangirlisms/boyisms....

There's always Anime North which is held annually on last weekend of May in Toronto. Such a wonderful convention for anything Japanese. 2011 will be my 5th year attending. This year the attendance rose to 18,500! While a lot of those people may not be X fans I'm sure they wouldn't turn down a concert @ the con knowing/finding out who X Japan is.
Realistically, I'd like them to just advertise and promote offline more in North America and play the concerts at proper venues, not cons cause the sound will just plain suck in the area they have available and the seating/grouping will suck since it's not venue-like.

Gibson Amphitheater or Staples center would be cool for an L.A show, but either way anywhere would be cool and I'd still go regardless.

while that sounds like a good idea in theory, i think that the less narutards attending X concerts in the long run would maintain a certain level of integrity for the shows. the fanbase at Massey Hall was perfect the way it was.

I'd certainly prefer X performing in an actual concert hall. My point though, is that it would not hurt them to have an opportunity to meet the fans/ sign autographs and get some free publicity. They don't have to perform a full set, or at all, as long as they make their presence known on the scene and fans new and old will be appeased. (That's why I was thinking the Comic Expo, since its in Toronto anyway, so they could have a meet and greet with the fans one of the days, and then a performance at another location the following.)

I realize that's been Toshi's style of interacting with the crowd. After numerous concerts, including the Seattle gig, I just found it annoying after awhile. When Yoshiki took the mic and actually spoke to the crowd, that was a nice break from Toshi's approach. If I'm in the minority about all this, so be it.

It has been (unofficially) announced as usual that Yoshiki/X Japan are planning to do a tour for the new album: North America in March, South America April and apparently some 'surprise' for Tokyo/Japan afterward in the spring!
This is amazing news for us in the America's...however, for the sake of those in UK/Europe, I hope you get some news soon.

Ha, I can't understand how people are complaining about the no dates for Europe. You guys are lucky that they are going to eventually go there! Think about those of us who live in places like Australia or NZ! If we want to see them we have to pay big! :(

The plans for Germany, France, and UK were just as much 'confirmed' as this latest news is. Neither were on their official sites/myspace/facebook etc. Simply from news sites based on what Yoshiki apparently said. However, I'm quite sure it will be true, especially since they've already finished one successful N.A tour and they know the drill, kind of thing.
Also, here's the translated portion where it mentions the N.A and S.A Tours: "In addition to the album's North American tour in March 2011 the second time, South America tour in April, are planning a surprise plan in Japan."

2010 was a god send for Canada. We had Miyavi, D'espairsRay, Dir en grey, and X Japan visit between June and October. I managed to attend all except Miyavi.
It probably won't happen again for a long time, and its true Canada doesn't get alot of jrock. I was ready to die once I learned X Japan was coming to Toronto. When I first learned about them a couple of years ago, I never thought I would see them live within North America, and let alone my own city!

I'd like to know what everyone else makes of the bands current situation. It was not long after the North American Tour that some news sites reported tours for Spring 2011, however, unless Yoshiki is feeling unusually generous, I can't see that happening since Spring is a matter of 2 months away and you would need AT LEAST that much time from an announcement to the show date. We just got the news about EMI etc...which is great but I hope they don't waste too much time in 2011 when they could be touring. Europe needs at least as many stops that we got in North America and South America deserves a tour as well. The only thing I can put my finger on is a concert in Japan in the spring which is to be expected. I really hope they've got a lot planned :(
I should also add another interesting bit...I contacted a representative from the WME (William Morris Endeavor) since X Japan is part of that and I explained how pleased I was to have seen the band and if they had ANY info at all about their plans of coming back and they said they are thrilled to have them on board and hope to have them back in the States by the end of the year. That could mean many things but it's something hehe.

Yea I know all about the latest announcement, my concern is what do they define as a "tour". A tour could mean a one week stint like they did in North America (which was amazing nonetheless). I bet Yoshiki requires significant recovery time after a few shows, especially being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. It would be entirely possible to do a European tour, South America, and North America again before the end of the year, all while giving Yoshiki time to recover lol. He loves to bottle up all the secrets and then let them out as late as possible so who knows, maybe we will all be surprised with tour info in the next 1-2 months

I personally think the tour needs to be larger, if they have any hope of making it. If Yoshiki's health problems are a concern then why not just do a couple shows a week and spread it out?

The reason any band packs so many shows into such a short period of time is money. It costs money to employ people to run these shows and the more shows you can get into a small time-frame, the less you have to pay for salaries, equipment, etc. and the more money you'll make.

That's very true. There was a fair amount of staff present at the Toronto show, from what I could see...and I waited outside the venue for 4+ hours, chatting with security who were also waiting for them to arrive. It makes you wonder how much money Yoshiki/management has to play with for these tours. I'd love to know how much the whole N.A tour cost them and what profit they made. The $30 cheap quality t-shirts and $120 Yoshikitty's they were selling lead me to belief they walked away with a lot. It was funny, their manager looks nothing like I would have imagined. He's is like barely 5 feet tall, fat, long grey-haired guy in some old black tshirt and pants. I would've expected at least a dress shirt and other nice clothing. I only found out he was the manager after the show ended. Too bad I didn't know earlier or I would've asked him a few questions since he walked right past us many times.

They had a pretty good tour starting out last yr not to mention all the extra events Yoshiki did before the thour started even attending europe for an event with the day before leaving having the filming on the Born free video and yoshiki charity event.
How they will do this year completely falls on yoshiki's health, the timing they have and all other events since now they have to work on a whole new market which while many of us now, there is still a lot who don't.
I'll just wait and sit and see how things turn out this year but im pleased

But hey, that's what kept me going too XD Last semester was hell in the beginning, but seeing him in my favorite city on his birthday was amazing and probably the best reward ever. Working harder just makes days pass faster anyway!
downside is that I had a midterm the day after that concert and had to get back to school in time. XD oops. That's why I'm hoping that I'm not in school when they come back here, though I would not even hesitate to skip classes or anything to go see them again.

awful timing for me on the other hand.. XD I'm kind of down thinking about it because I'll have to stress about likely missing a midterm to see the concert. ;_; I wish my school schedule was like yours!

I don't mind X-Japan being at A.G.E. but I DO mind A.G.E. being at X-Japan. I feel as a pull for people to go to A.G.E., that's not a bad idea, it'll only be one show and they'll be performing, no big thang.

Yoshiki has designed some clothes back at his charity foundation event, of coruse it was gothic rocker style (so not my type) but I know people loved it. There was a famous designer tied with it so my guess is that A.G.E. is another way for him to show it off.
But his name tied with it will draw a big crowd

Other artist have also created fundraisings, Yoshiki, Drummer and pianist of X Japan has announced the actionning of his Crystal Piano, the value of the instrumment hasn't been calculated yet and besides the auction, the musician that is expected to play in Brazil on May along with X Japan, will create a donnation bank with his American Foundation.
The video also talks about other japanese artists and a K-pop band but they don't add anything new besides their personal donnations.

^ Yeah I'm very surprised O2 Academy Islington was the chosen venue as it's very small and intimate but they have managed to get a few well-known Jrock musicians and bands playing there in the past so I guess they're kind of continuing that tradition or something ^_^;;

There'll still be loads of tickets left after the presales so I wouldn't worry, I can't imagine loads of people signed to this 02 subcription are coincidently X fans, and I can't imagine a huge load of people who've never heard of the band saying "well I never heard of this band, but since I have the chance to get pre sale tickets I'll check them out", I think pretty much all the seats will still be available by the time normal ticket sales start on Friday.

They were £20 each, but more like £23 each (I bought the maximum of 4) when the processing fee and shipping was taken into account.
They charge £10 for processing and like £2.25 for shipping.

Neither do I. I used my mam's O2 phone. You just need a mobile number on O2 to make an account, once you've made it, it's yours. And you can order tickets.

Auuuugh! I can't go to the Europe shows I'm too broke! ((It's my fault too. . . I spent a huge chunk of my money on an awesome coat that Japanese Taiko drummers wear. It was worth it! I regret nothing!))
But I hope that the upcoming 2011 tour will be near L.A. or Las Vegas ((more so L.A. than Vegas. I'd rather take the hour and a half drive to L.A. than the six hour drive to Vegas))

There's something wrong in all these things... there's no confirmation from X or Yo and the tickets are already available for some of the gigs and I don't know... There's something very odd in this.

You don't need the band members themselves to say "yes we're having this gig on this date", that's not how it worked before sites like facebook and twitter, and I don't even know if every band uses twitter to state things like this now. I think tour dates are always released at the same time as concert announcements though, but X are always slow with things and we have confirmation that official tour dates will be revealed very soon, coincidently just as these shows have been announced. I don't think there's anything to be suspicious about really.

As written on Xplosion, the German promoters confirmed that X is keeping quiet because they want to announce everything at once, but all the gigs haven't been confirmed yet (the UK and London gigs apparently are, since the venues already sell tickets). :) So don't worry!

I'm with Beauty/Broken on this one. I saw it advertised on facebook too which is a paid advertisement. And general sale tickets go on sale tomorrow. It is a little weird that X don't want to announce it yet, but most bands do this. Announce a tour all at once rather than just one or two. But as soon as promoters get on the confirmation, I suppose for maximum sales - they let it out?
Who knows. I don't quite care really -- it's confirmed everywhere else. On the O2 Academy venue site, the ticket site, and media folks everywhere have it. Blabbermouth.net had it even a week ago! S'all good!

Is the concert in France before or after Berlin? because the I think French were the ones who got screwed over the most during the constant concert cancellations last year. It would be pretty stupid of Yoshiki to do constant lives every day leaving the Paris concert till last, risking having to cancel a concert there again.
How many days apart with each concert did they take during the US tour? About three days between each concert?

Yet I still think that rather than French, those who had the worst financial losses were people from other European countries who always bought their airplane/train tickets and booked hotels etc. and then they either had to throw the money out of the window and stay home or grit their teeth and enjoy a trip to Paris they would do well without.
That said, I hope Yoshiki and all the other members are going to be in the best condition for all of the shows. :)

I understand. I also saw his apologetic post in French and although I did not question his sincerity, I thought that he might have taken into account the fact that hundreds (or thousands) of people from other countries sacrificed a lot, too. But I don't say it because I'd resent him for the cancelled shows or anything. It simply happened and let's hope it all ends up fine this time.

We won't be going to Berlin. In fact, my wife and I thought we would not attend any of the concerts, as we have already seen X-Japan back in 2008 and as we plan to make another big journey this May, so some financial prudence would be in order. But then I managed to get two very reasonably priced tickets to London and as I have always wanted to take my wife there, we decided to attend after all and with a kind help of a friend we secured two concert tickets as well.
But coming to Berlin or Paris as well would be a bit too extravagant. ;)

may be it´s not that bad, I saw Luna Sea in Bochum/Germany last fall and I don´t believe that there were 2000 people in the hall, and it was a nice, bit cosy atmosphare there in a really good way. The Berlin concert will take place at C-Halle, it´s for about 3500 people and not sold out untill now and we will see how it will be. We will tell on the forum after the show.

Just called Eventim, the guy I had on the phone was positively shocked. They didn´t know of any problem - til now ^^ They will look into this now. But at least those who ordered tickets already do not need to be concerned about their money :)

I phoned Eventim again today. The woman on the phone told me, part of the rumors says the show will get cancelled, and another part says it will not. It´s 50/50. So, still overall confusion ... But at least my tickets were finally sent today - even if I doubt that will do me much good ^^

@ Conscript: yes, I think they are, never ever made a bad experience with ticketsellers like eventim, konticket or heckticket, and in this case I think it doesn´t depend on the ticketsellers but on the X-management :-\

I wouldn't say it was legit unless it's confirmed from the band or anyone related, like management and whatnot.
I've arranged a concert, and it's so easy to just tell ticket sites and such that "hey, I want you to sell tickets for me for this and that concert" without them needing confirmation from the band. Sellers only have the promoters words.

oh,oh that´s the question! Nobody nows nothing exactly about nothing, have I done my best to confuse you? So the point is, that there are tickets already sold, I got my one already but there is no confirmation from the management up to now, the site of the venue, the E-Werk in Köln got an announcment that the show will take place, but there is nothing at the site of the promoter prime-entertainment gmbH. That means to make is short we have to wait if it will be confirmed, if not we will get our money back ::)

Laut telefonischer Auskunft von eventim schickt man das Ticket zurück und bekommt Geld und Buchungsgebhür zurück.
For everyone who bought tickets over eventim.de: if the concert will be canceled you have to send back the tickets and will get the money for them and for the fee,
but I´ve called the E-Werk Köln just now (may 6th, 3PM) and they said the the show was even booked at the venue and they don´t know anything about that it is canceled, so have to be patient, I´m afrait we won´t know it exactly untill the july 6th :P :P :P

I got a mail from Eventim a few minutes ago that I have to send the tickets back within the next 7 days if I want my money back. And that the show is cancelled. Of course I only get the price for the tickets theirselves back, not for the shipping, which was quiet high. Oh well.

Yea that is very interesting for us Canadian fans. It seems very obvious at this point that they will return to North America, since Yoshiki has said so numerous times this past month during different interviews. This interview from JrockRevolution has Yoshiki mentioning another full-on world tour for next year (2012) depending on the success of the various locations they will be playing over the next few months. For us North American fans, it doesn't seem like we will get them back until November since they plan on doing South East Asia AFTER South America, which carries on into mid September. Just my speculations on the whole thing. Would rather not have to wait for X Japan in the cold weather/snow but I'd do whatever it took.

We already know unless they're planning to have a fifteen track album (way longer than any of their previous albums) that there's no way they're going to put new songs on there that none of us have heard before, there's no room for them. I reckon he worded that incorrectly and we're just going to get Scarlet Love Song which wasn't previously announced.

Although not every corner of the world knows their name, but X-Japan is indeed one the world's greatest band. Now, they have returned, and producing new work. This Japanese heavy metal band started in 1982. They have sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. It is Japan's most successful band in history.

X JAPAN to Perform in South Korea for the First Time This Year!
This year in June, X JAPAN have just finished the European leg of their world tour and from September they will be going on tour in South America. Additionally the band has now announced to perform in South Korean for the very first time in their career.
The performance will be held on October 28th in Seoul at the Olympic Stadium.
"For the fans that have been waiting for us for over ten years, we want to show an amazing performance", the band commented via the organizer of the event.
Moreover, from October, X JAPAN will embark on their Asian leg of the world tour, visiting a total of six countries to excite the waiting fans!

I assume many others are curious as well about the North American tour dates which are supposed to be announced "soon". At the end of the last episode of Yoshiki Radio (July 3rd), Yoshiki said "North American tour will be announced soon as well!" so I'm wondering how far away from the announcement are we? The next episode of Yoshiki Radio is August 7th so hopefully we find out more then? Especially considering the whole radio thing is directed completely at the North American audience. All I know is that they probably won't play until the beginning of 2012 judging by how late the South East Asian tour dates have fallen.

Thats pretty much it. Nationalism is very important to the Communist Party of China (as with all extreme politics), so having a Japanese group have the first musical performance at the Bird's Nest would have been completely unacceptable.

I'm with you here.
Having lived in Beijing for half a year, I can safely state that in no way, shape or form, would X Japan ever come close to selling out the Bird's Nest. The majority of Chinese people simply cannot afford the ticket prices, and interest in X Japan isn't that great. Household names such as Jay Chou have sold out 50,000+ capacities before, but I don't think many musicians want to risk playing above that capacity, due to the volatile nature of the Chinese consumers.

Regardless of the real reason, I doubt they could have filled enough seats in the Bird's Nest. At 80000 seats, plus whatever they could fit on the floor, it seems highly unlikely they could sell that much outside Japan.

These are my thoughts as well. Something doesn't add up...it makes NO sense that a professional band/management team would wait to buy plane tickets while on the tour. You'd think everything would be taken care of well beforehand. They've created an e-mail, something like xjapanrockssaopaulo@gmail.com and want anyone who has a flight there to contact them. I wonder what they are going to do, try and bargain with them? Make a special offer? Who knows...All I know is that Yoshiki seemed quite concerned about it and gave the impression that if they cannot figure it out, then the show may not happen. That would be dreadful.

Yes I also thought that some time ago and I thought that it was a matter of practice, but for example in this old video he plays both hide's and Pata's solo for X and does a very good job. And those solos really aren't the easiest oness... And he was somewhat young at that time so he should have gotten even better.

But then.. seems like that's the only song he masters. And it can't be a matter of practice because as you said, he is a professional. For me it just seems like he can't play. The "guitar battle" at Yokohama was pretty much awful and seemed like that his floyd rose was the only thing, that he knew how to use. And he has played Rusty nail something like.. 15 times live and none of them hasn't really impressed me. And yes he should definitely be able to play Dahlia because that's really easy. But I think the reason why they don't play that sonf is because they might have some traumas from the last time when they played it in 2009 :D. That was horrible.

Hahaha yea I just had to go and rewatch Dahlia in 2009 to see how bad it was...just sloppy all around, especially from Yoshiki cause if he fucks up, it generally throws everyone off key. He clearly wasn't 100% ready for that song because he was looking at music sheets during it. I think it's funny he was probably thinking "FUCK what was I thinking when I wrote this?!?!" And yes I remember that video with Sugizo, he played X very well. I guess despite being a long term professional, people do slip into ruts and can get worse, especially since Sugizo had such a long time of NOT playing that kind of music or solo. Still....I'm an amateur guitarist and with a few months practice I can play a few of their songs so that's when I revert back to thinking, nope...no excuse. I think Sugizo has a very cool style but it's a little too crazy or wild for X's songs...hide played them perfectly in a sense that he was usually very spot on technically and you could almost decipher each note while playing. Listening to hide Rusty Nail solo during Last Live and Sugizo during these tours is night and day...Sugizo's sounds like a mash up.

Come on, guys. You say this like hide NEVER missed anything. I can get some videos of hide missing notes in Silent Jealousy and Rusty Nail and any other song, like Yoshiki also misses, Pata misses and even ToshI misses the lyrics.
I really liked Sugizo playing the Rusty Nail solo. He will NEVER play like hide. He plays his own style. And I think is good. Silent Jealousy and Kurenai don't have so much space for "changes", so he plays exactly like was wrote.
Sugizo is an awesome guitarist and is perfectly able to play X solos. He played X, Silent Jealousy, Blue Blood... many songs perfectly. They just need to let him play and kill the hide ghost playbacking in Art of Life. Then starts to other songs. I really would like to see Dahlia solo played by Sugizo. I think it would be good.

from the very beginning it was important for Sugizo to be hisself and not a single replacement for hide, like he said in an interview (http://www.musicjapanplus.jp/specialfeatures/2291/sugizo-first-interview-with-musicjapanplus-part-1/&page=3) and hide said in the last interview he gave at the day he died, that for him it´s a difference between X-Japan, where he is a "hired gun" what he likes and his solo work, where he can do what he want. So maybe out of this different points of view result the different ways to play. In the above mentioned interview Sugizo also said, that he thought X stuff is easy to play after he was listening to the music, and later when he was told to play he realized how difficult and complex the composition is. So maybe he got sometimes problems to do it right and sometimes not. Or maybe is is even overburdened with all the things his doing

If I'm completely honest, I wouldn't really notice it during the live. Of course it's a completely different story if you're watching footage of it in front of your computer. The most important thing for a live concert is the feeling it brings to the fans who are watching it live. And those people will not have the time/can't be bothered to watch and listen like a hawk waiting for a mistake to be made.
It's not fair to compare live footage taken by the audience on phones and small cameras to those DVDs of past concerts. Those are heavily remastered and thoroughly doubt that hide played the solo's perfectly every single time. I might even go as far as saying that it's nearly impossible to both play perfectly and give the audience a good show. And at the end of the day it's more important that the people who came to see them enjoy the experience.

True, I agree that in hindsight you notice all of the mistakes etc, however, mash ups (not pertaining to Sugizo) such as Dahlia 2009 are simply a disgrace even live. Thinking about it, the lack of Weekend and Dahlia quite well be just Yoshiki's call on what he thinks should be played and what he is capable of. I guess my only gripe is how short the set list is that they're using throughout the entire world tour. Throw in an acoustic or something light to give Yoshiki a rest then come on with Dahlia, Blue Blood, Weekend etc. I don't have much hope for the next world tour in terms of set list because you can bank on it mirroring the "new" album, which is comprised of 80% songs we already know.

actually i prefer how hide played the solo than sugizo solo on rusty nail. i will prefer if sgz played what exactly what was recorded on the studio, if sgz played on his own way, i feel like the solo is not original anymore. just my thought..

Discussion we had many times...IMHO Sugizo's image is really good for X Japan but I've never been a fan of his technique. Good for Luna Sea but not for power metal like someone said here before. For a professional guitarist that plays that much he isn't very skilled using the same scales often and a pretty sloppy technique.
hide also made mistakes but I think not as much as Sugizo and hide makes solo's sound better but that's a matter of taste. I wasn't impressed of Sugizo's performance when I saw him live. Some solo parts were played using a backing track and I don't think it was meant as a tribute to hide. His violin playing wasn't much better.
Pata was sloppy aswell. I think it's quite an issue how pata and sugizo play now for X Japan becoming a major band in the Western countries. I think their populairity now is mostly based on their achievements in the past. Some say they played best in the Jealousy era but I also like them at the Last Live. I know it's edited but still it's really tight. A shame they couldn't keep that level.

Yes, we are being heavily critical on Sugizo (even myself) but it's true that he was taken on as a fill in in a role that sounds a lot different than his style. I've already accepted that they will never reach their prime again or be as tight..even if they were to practice harder and longer...I think it's just age, especially with Yoshiki...his fills are still amazing and it's a wonder he can play these songs after all this time but it will never be as tight as the past. There's times now during the tour where he's like racing to complete a fill because it's so complex..like he's half a second behind and sometimes has to skip a hit or two to complete it. Still think he's amazing though and as someone above said, you rarely notice minor things like that live and it's only in hindsight like now. All in all, I'm happy as hell they are the way they are now. They are as close to X Japan before disbandment as we're going to get and I think SGZ is a great fit because he is a good guitarist, plays the songs damn well (not perfect but really, who is?) and adds the violin which is really cool...I think it's good they are adding something new. So what if they're heavily riding on their success of the past, each of them individually and as a group have earned my respect and many more than most musicians/bands can ever do.

I suppose all we've had growing up have been the edited tour footage and CDs and we've been raised with this idea that X-Japan is infallible and amazing and wonderful, and of course they are and always will be- at least to me. Now, however, we have them back as before and everyone has a phone with filming capabilities and we can film each and every moment and capture every slip up.
I've heard and seen footage of Pata playing X and totally, and I mean TOTALLY, fucking up the solo to the point where it was painfully obvious he was drunk out of his mind, and I've heard and seen footage of hide botching a solo and being late, but you have to dig to find those since a lot of the footage nowadays is the perfection edits.
I agree with Feudal. I like Sugizo and I think he's a good guitarist, I've heard him play the solo perfectly and I've heard him be sloppy with it a bit. Same with Pata, Heath, Yoshiki, and Toshi(he's missed an entry or two). They know the songs and know them well, but to err is to human and I think we just gotta be accepting of that rather than scrutinize every second of every piece of footage we come across.

I suppose that's where the difference lies. The solo is in Sugizo style, I'm not opposed to how he does it and I like that he's not trying to be hide. I understand that the solo has notes and he hits 'em, but he makes it noticeably him. Like in the Dragonland cover of Rusty Nail, I don't fault them at all for giving it their own obvious flare. It's obviously an X-Japan cover, but it's blatantly Dragonland.
I got no hate for the Sug-man, I think he's had some big shoes to fill not just talent wise but legend wise.

About the tempo, did you notice that the whole band can't play on the same tempo anymore, including (and mainly) Yoshiki? Pay 10 cents of attention to the drums.

Yes I did notice that about the tempo. And I have said it many times before that I know that hide didn't always play perfectly.
But Sugizo has messed the solo more than once and when he according to most you "plays it perfectly", I still found that very sloppy and not-so-good. I don't know if you love him too much to think that he isn't good. Or maybe I'm too critical.

To be honest and entirely candid, I'm not a huge J-Rock fan. I knew of Luna Sea, but if you were to ask me to name ONE song... I couldn't. I can name only one song by Sugizo himself as a solo act because of my girlfriend but that's it. I have no adoration to Sugizo at all, I just think- considering his past with Yoshiki, the record label, hide, and all(Juno Reactor and the ilk)- he's done a pretty rocking job with X-Japan.

I also noticed they lowered the tempo but I usually pay attention to the guitars. I thought they lowered it because of Sugizo or more likely Pata. I didn't notice Yoshiki couldn't keep up. Heath shouldn't have a problem with it I guess although Taiji had. How Taiji played Black Widow with Loudness was almost in slow motion!
I thought a good guitarist would perhaps improve all this but you guys say it has probably more to do with Yoshiki??

I agree, the Toronto show I was at during the North American tour was very mature/strict...I think it has to do more with the target audiences they want to attract. North America/Western market is what Yoshiki would LOVE to be popular in so I doubt we'd ever see any silly acts like that on stage because it would immediately make potential fans think, "what the hell?" Perhaps in South America and Asia, there are SO many fans that are present they can get away with doing whatever they want because there isn't as much to "earn" from those communities...I dunno, do you catch my drift?

I'm still a bit.. Perplexed by this whole "Nurse" phenomenon.. Like, he had a hissy fit, lost his cool, and people wanted to come to his "aid" by being a nurse or something? I don't understand.
And yeah, that video was a bit peculiar. I suppose it's a different culture. I imagine those who don't follow Yoshiki's tweets would be like "..wtf...??" I can only imagine what the other band mates think while Yoshiki's on stage performing these antics.

I believe this nurse thing started as some sort of a sexual innuendo by one of the fans when Yoshiki hurt his knee at A-Con. Turns out Yoshiki loves nurses and the sexual connotation that is often attached to them but while he always says "JOKING!" I'm starting to think he's more serious about it...Just another annoying way to create hordes of sexually-charged fan girls.

Oh my god this is awesome! This is some of the FIRST official footage I've seen of the North American tour! I love how L.A and New York have like 10-15 second clips but everywhere else, like Toronto (where I went) has like 4-5 seconds haha.
Also, that is really weird about the Beijing show. I don't know much about it other than there has been a notice of cancellation and I don't even know for what reason. I'm very surprised Yoshiki has not said on Twitter that it is on or off. It wouldn't take THIS long for him to get in touch with his agents.

yes, of course, they would like to play there, so they can´t announce there are proplems with the officals, if you say that you can stay away for ever, and btw. it´s China, a dictatoship of proletariat, a socialist country after all, I don´t think that the promoter are independent and doing their own stuff without being influence or watched by the government, so lets hope for the people in China and the fans aboard that someday somehow somebody of the leading functionary get in mind, that it is a really good idea to have an X.Japan show in China

Well, Chinese officials did have issued a permit, as far as I know, the problem comes from ticket agency. The advertisement in ShangHai is far away from satisfactory, someone even don't know how and where to buy the ticket. Embarrassedly but honestly, there are still a lot of seats available, which gives a really bad example to BeiJing. No big profit no further work, it's the real world.

@VivLeigh: if it is really the problem with the promoter, than that´s a good news, I think it´s easier to be a "victim" of bad management than of political non-transparent decisions, so we will see what the future will show...

its pretty crazy that tickets still hadn't gone on sale yet with the show so close, I guess in different parts of the world things are just done too differently and it wasnt taken in to account.
I wonder how many tickets would of sold if they had just put them on sale a week before the show, while Yoshiki is disappointed and a lil mad atleast they plan on still doing the show at another date

equal rights for all ::) - no to be honest, the setlist could really have been modified a bit, I´ve learned here in that forum that asian fan do love more ballads, so why not satisfy them, I know that some bands travel with the same setlist long tours, but mostly if there is something like a choreography around the songs, so maybe Yoshiki can shorten his We are X shouting and do a bit more music, that would be really fan service

That setlist is a little disappointing, not so much the lack of variety in the music, but how long are they onstage for? About an hour and a half? Only 11 songs, including the encore? What's going on for the rest of the time? Solos? Yoshiki modelling onstage?

I was thinking of starting a new thread for this, maybe a moderator will make a "X Japan's World Tour plans for 2012", but since the 2011 World Tour is now over, I guess we can all discuss/speculate on what will come in December and then the supposed, bigger world tour for 2012. If what has been said on numerous occasions is true, it looks like North America is first in line again for the next tour. From my understanding based on information from their booking agency, they are waiting for the album to release and then go on tour for the album in 2012. If there is some serious planning going on (and no natural disasters take place, god forbid) maybe we'll see a larger world tour than this year.

@elanor: yes I am happy to see that Yoshiki has done more interviews after the tour, that one Rafaelo posted below should be a great read as well, I know that some Chinese fans are translating it into Chinese, hope that sometime later there would be an English version!
talking about the Paris show, I really enjoyed it even though I was on the 1st floor instead of standing in the arena, it's always nice to see them live! And the atmosphere of Berlin show is even better (maybe because the venue is smaller in Berlin) and it's one of the few times i get so close to the stage! i love both Paris and Berlin as cities, in Paris i keep myself alarmed if i need to get into the metro in the evening, turned out everything is ok and i really love Paris for its beautiful parks, museums and the awesome food! Let's wish that X would have another world tour again in 2012:)
