Have you actually heard Symphonic Blue Blood or Symphonic Jealousy?  Little known, but PHENOMENAL albums.

One would think that'd all be speculation, but I would think it'd prolly be because of hide's push.

Yoshiki / Re: Yoshiki is putting his "Kawai" crystal piano on auction
« on: April 20, 2011, 07:13:14 AM »
Yeah.  When it started to slow down around 1.2 million and some odd, I was like "Yeah, my prediction has come true!" and then it was like "...this is getting stupid" after how high it was getting.

The biggest lament, I feel, is that this puts a hiatus on the benefit of the auction, puts the whole integrity behind what the auction was for on the ground... ._.

Yeah... 1.2 million I could believe, but when it started to skyrocket- even though the piano is worth oh so much more than it could ever go for- it was getting ridiculous.

On a more light hearted note regarding this auction... Please draw your attention to the disclaimer at the bottom for a wonderful bit of Engrish.

"Note to everyone for being naughty tender tender"

Aaaand it's officially broken my prediction of 1.2 million.  Still climbing, still climbing..!

That's so fantastic.  If it doesn't break a million I'd be surprised.

Albums/Singles / Re: X's worst song
« on: April 10, 2011, 07:37:53 PM »
Gotta agree... White Poem is my least favorite song by them.  I'm a huge fan of Vanishing Vision and it's unapologetic garage sound, Blue Blood paved the way for them and every god damned song on that album is flawless and a hit, Jealousy had one of the most epic rock songs ever on it and a few classic call backs to great rock and roll, and Dahlia was overall a good album with some great jams but went a bit too... Violet U.K. for me.

But ya gotta admit, with a library like theirs and to only have one, maybe two, tracks that are not hailed is Genius is pretty smeggin' good.

I'm a huge Pata fan.  While I agree with hide and Sugizo are a lot more experimental with their playing style, having heard Pata's solo shit is just... Amazing.  Great, classic rock and roll without apologies or trying to be anything else.  I understand it's not everyone's bag, but I dig it.

I agree, also, that when Taiji left there was a shift in style as well.  Heath's solo stuff is a bit more Dahlia-album in feel than the previous studio works.  And this is in no way trying to downplay hide at all, his solo music is fantastic and there's a reason I've got the Necromance necklace on, I just feel that talent wise, hide and Pata were on similar footing.

I dig your lip flap, Starwarsartist.  I get your points, they are valid, I'm just a patient kinda guy and- I know you're as stoked as any of us that they're back together, don't think I'm sayin ' otherwise- don't incredibly mind the delays and feel there's more at hand than just "They don't respect their American audience".  And I know you weren't attempting to waver my feelings towards X, sorry if it came off that way. =P  Ontop of that, don't think that I feel X-Japan has been well promoted here AT ALL... No posters, no endorsing, nothing really to let us know that X is here.  Like I said, I honestly agree with all your jive, we just come from two different camps in how we approach it, I think.

I just figure things'll work out, I'll sit here waving a tiny X flag and hope upon hope that soon I'll see these guys taking over these here states.

Albums/Singles / Re: JADE
« on: March 17, 2011, 07:18:14 AM »
I suppose my attitude towards this is... I have faith in that the "Jade" single would've come out on iTunes and so on and would've been promoted as the first Single to the US.  Sure, I.V. came out a while back but it wasn't promoted(hell, it wasn't even on the soundtrack) but it wasn't endorsed as such, so it's unfair to say I.V. was the first single when it kinda.. Wasn't.  Was it the first track that was American oriented?  Sure, that's legit, but single? Nein, I Say.

Do I think Yoshiki has been... Hmmm... Fair with his words?  I don't know.  But here's the biggest difference... When albums are released in the states, they come out when the final date is released.  Very few people actually follow press releases and publicists information regarding release dates.  We're obsessed fans with a band that deserves to be obsessed over.  When a CD is pushed back in America for the most part, or when a movie is pushed back, so on and so forth It fades into the wind.  Example: the Thor release date has been tossed back and forth time and again without consequence because people don't care.  Yet, when Harry Potter was pushed back for almost a year, there was mass fandom rage, so your passion towards the delay with the defense of being an X fan has some merit and I endorse it.  Everyone on this board has every right to their own opinion with the delay of the X-Japan CD...

However, in the long run, one thing we have to consider is that there is a "small" group of people who follow X-Japan in the states and labor feverously over every update we can come across, every twitter and facebook post.. This is a scrutiny that most bands don't have to endure.

This is X we're talking about.  No matter how much this band has risen in their eyes or ours, we have to understand that there are factors in place here beyond that which we perceive- which I'm sure all of us do, not trying to be insulting at all here- and should appreciate as such.  I want an american X-Japan album as much as the next X fan, I want to see Jade on Vh1 and MTV, I want to know that the band that deserves recognition gets it, but being aggressive and negative towards this band will not resolve my place.

Tragedy or not, release or not, I love X-Japan and no amount of delays will stay my adoration.  From Vanishing Vision to the unreleased American debut, this is my band of choice, my hopeful expression of emotion, and will stand by the choices they make.  I understand it may seem silly and blind, I also am aware that not everyone will share my point of view and I absolutely respect that and will never scrutinize someone for it, but the fact that I was able to see X-Japan live and have the prospect to in the future.. Is like giving water to a dying man in the desert to me.

We are X.

Yoshiki / Re: Yoshiki is putting his "Kawai" crystal piano on auction
« on: March 15, 2011, 10:21:44 PM »
Yeah, I think the bigger the response from X during this time could be more beneficial than them focusing on what they've been doing.  By putting up the auction for bid and it getting a- being assumptive here- huge amount from some rich whoever the hell will get attention.  X-Japan putting on a benefit show would also draw lots of attention.

The big picture here I think is being observed rather than the small scale.  I hope and encourage Yoshiki and X-Japan to take time off from the upcoming tours and use their celebrity to bring Japan from it's crippled genuflect and rise up with chin held high and metal horns in the air.

All I can do is recall when X-Japan years ago was supposed to play in New York for a reunion show.. I followed the site of the venue, the vendor that was listed to sell tickets, everything to the letter, and then Yoshiki had injuries that needed to be tended to and it was postponed indefinitely.  I was disappointed and sad, but I didn't feel wronged.  The band did what they had to do.  If Jade comes out today or not, I know it'll be coming out soon and so will the album.  I dunno, perhaps I'm just an accepting sorta dude.

It also calls into question, since a lot of X fans on here are younger and not from Japan, what was the release schedule adherence from X-Japan like in the early years?  Did they keep a tight ship and release on the day or is it like it is now, with a loose outline of hopeful release dates?

Here I sit, partying like Pata (got a bit of our ol' friend Jack in my cup) awaiting the 23 minutes away until my time zone passes the Ides of March point... =P  Here's to hoping.. -=raises glass=- Cheers to over half my life in waiting for these guys to break through my borders, be it the 15th or whenever it'll be.. I don't mind X-Japan being at A.G.E. but I DO mind A.G.E. being at X-Japan.  I feel as a pull for people to go to A.G.E., that's not a bad idea, it'll only be one show and they'll be performing, no big thang.

I just hope it doesn't ride on the coat-tails of the X-Japan tour. -_-

Yoshiki / Re: Yoshiki officially on twitter!
« on: February 23, 2011, 03:22:45 PM »
I don't think he'll leave Europe out of the tour, I'm sure a couple of venues will get their dose of X.

However, A.G.E. on stage before any X show would be... Foolhearty.  I mean, I like the kinda dirty looking clothes that are coming out and the grungy rock feel they have, but it sounds more like a Violet U.K. thing more than anything else.  Violet U.K. is an expression of alternative, experimental kinda stuff, but X-Japan is... Well, it's fucking metal.  It's why I got annoyed when people IN THE PIT were like "Ohmigawd, why's everyone pushing??" and I'm thinking "Oh, please, this is waiting in line at Circle K, go to a GWAR show if you want pushing."

But, aside from that non sequitur, I am stoked for the shows to come.  It seems dates are being placed down and adhered to, especially with a new label behind them now.  Fingers crossed, y'all...

There is not a single sliver of me that is disappointed in this news.  I have dreamed for a reunion and wallowed in the impossibility, so just because there's a little hiatus doesn't bother me.  They have a contract, they have news, and they have solid dates, not "Late this year" or "early next year", it's straight up.  I hope it's honored.

But yeah.  This is great news.  And a 3 year contract shows some faith in this band, which is wonderful as well.  Let us not dwell on the fact that "Oh MAN, we have to wait a few more months, sunuvabitch", let's think "AT LAST, X-Japan in the rest of the world!"

Huzzah. :3

That was a fantastic article.

As much as I follow Yoshiki, thanks for bringing it here.

Feels good, man. :)

To me, it has some similar sounds to "I'll Be Your Love".

Either way, I am excited for it.  I could use an epic piece of ballad-ness from our beloved X.

I can safely say I am super stoked for this.  I like how his approach towards music, ballads included, have grown with him. *_*

And I agree with Kiiroi on that it has some strong VUK influence, but I mean, of course it does. XD  And yeah, it could also be from when Toshi went solo, that's able to be heard as well.  It'd be nice to think Toshi had a hand in at least the vocals for this song.

Sorry if they're rather large...

But yeah.  Now that I have a Wacom pad and CS5, I have.. Big projects in mind... >3

These were just sorta kinda putting down quick roughs for what how they could be animated.  Still resemble the characters but simple enough to draw over and over again.

General chat / Re: What X Japan needs to do to make it big in the US
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:09:37 PM »
No stuff meaning they don't have an album out yet.  They have a DVD out about their film shoot, but it isn't even available here in the states- a wrong move, I think, considering it would give Americans- especially their American fans- a chance to be like "Hell yeah, this is strictly about us."  Sure, they went on an American tour, albeit brief, and had lots of interviews, but it's like promoting something they can't sell yet.  They need to have something to sell at least within a relative, and solid, release date time frame.

And I agree with you on the hide thing.  I love hide's solo stuff, I think his demise was a tragedy and I appreciate the respect that Yoshiki has portrayed him, but I think in America it'll be too confusing for new fans to see this random pink haired guy appear on screen.  It wouldn't be wise.  This is a new market, and with Sugizo on board, I believe that the occasional respect for hide would be a good idea, but I think playing clips of him and doing backing guitar solos of hide would be a bad move to do straight off the bat.

I think the only realistic reason why there's been no new updates is because there's nothing out there to support it.  First the stuff, then the info, might be their thinking.  Also, there's also legal stuff going on with the whole hide debacle and such.

I have a feeling that when the new album comes out and the videos and all that jazz, there will be more info about the nets for them.  I mean, Yoshiki has the paparazzi about him already, he's being out and about, getting his name out there.. I have a feeling that because he's dipped his toe in the North American market waters, when he makes the splash, it'll be big.
