Well, music from Spain sucks, but there are some groups I used to listen (now I don't): Mocedades (the ones of Eres tú), Los Bravos (the ones of Black is Black), Héroes del Silencio, etc. and then there's famous/musicians that are shit: Ska-P, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Pereza, Mago de Oz, Miguel Bosé, Julio Iglesias, etc.

hi there

Most people must know these major Finnish metal/rock bands like Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, The Rasmus, etc. so I'll post a few indie bands that I know, though I'm pretty sure that only a few people will like these. ^^

Exsecratus is a metal band that plays somewhat melodic power metal with female vocals and death growls and such. The second guitarist T.Hentilä and the keyboardist E.Silvennoinen are friends of mine. ^^

Mensura plays extreme black metal. The drummer is REALLY fast... o.o Once again, one of the guitar players, Niko Häkkinen, is my friend.

Dyessence is Niko's second band. They play "Göteborg metal" in the footsteps of bands like In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, etc.

There you have three. I try to come up with more of them, but right now I'm having a blackout. ^^

'm at my wits end

Most have prolly already heard of these bands, but I'm gonna mention them anyway because they are some of the few American bands that don't suck IMO.

Linkin Park (new album hits stores Tuesday)
P.O.D.
Orgy
The Offspring

And going back (quite) a few years:
The Eagles
Fleetwood Mac

And yes they are all on my current playlist.

Awww, finally someone who knows Orgy *g* love them! (they are waaaay underrated!!)

I like Linkin Park's old stuff (hybrid theory) don't really know about the new songs (except from "What I've done", 'cause it's played on mtv all the time)...I like some songs of P.O.D as well, though I only know the satellite cd

Liquid Tension Experiment(America) is absolutely amazing, and everyone needs to hear them.

: Would you jump off a bridge just because everyone else was doing it?
A: Yes, because the pile of bodies would break my fall.

Well, not many Aussie bands are my cup of tea, but ill list a few of the more popular ones for everyone here.

Cat Empire - Alt Jazz/Ska/Rock band will a kinda Latino feel to the music.

Silverchair - Older stuff Post Grunge, now Rockier. One of the most succesful Aussie bands here and overseas.

Powderfinger - Popular rock band here, i'm not really a fan.

Wolfmother - They're huge here at the moment, but i don't think they will last
much longer.. They have a Led Zep/Sabbath/Soundgarden influence which you can certainly hear in the music.

Yeshhh, love them  :D  I don't know, they could last, that retro sound is becoming quite popular with the kids (look how big Mando Diao have gotten)

One thing is for sure though, they got way too much attention for a debut album.

The demo version of Woman sounds a lot better than the album one, loved it when i first heard it, and minds eye is a great song, but. like a lot of bands, after a debut so successful. i don't really know if they can match it.. Anyway, we'll soon see.

I didn't know if to put AC/DC in or not, cause i thought most people would of heard at least a few of their songs. I guess its like an American suggesting Jimi Hendrix or a Pom Pink Floyd or something

They sound even better live, I even dare to say Wolfmother is BEST live.

Yeah, I mean most people here seem to know the big names from the US, the UK, Japan (and at least for AC/DC, Australia), so there's no need to recommend those.

Woah, you got to see them live? That would be pretty sweet. They were down in Tassie a few months ago for Falls and The Southern Roots Festival, but i didn't go because no one else there even vaguely interested me. haha.

Has anyone here heard Psycroptic? They are a Tassie Death Metal band that have been touring Europe, and they are playing here on friday! (Hehe...FRIDAY!!)

Can't say i've heard much Krautrock, unless Kraftwerk counts.
So how long have you been in Austria for?

An nother german band I like is Knorkator. They have funny lyrics and I guess they are only good when you understand what they sing but they are good musicians as well, I think.

I hope nobody will kill me for posting in this dead topic, but I like it XDDD

Well I don't listen to Spanish music at all but there are some songs I like (pop, ballads and rock) most of them are songs I used to listen to when I was younger.

1985~1986 acoustic pop ballad/ When I went on a summer camp, they used to play this song.

1997 Indie pop/ Also from summer camp. I don't like the voices but  loved the song XDD

2002 Urban rock/ I actually like their mini album "La ley innata" ( ) but I think this s their most famous song

La oreja de Van Gogh: / / / /
Pop + ballads/ This was one of my favourite bands when I was younger xDDD But the songs all almost all the same. And the singer I liked left the band :(

2001 Rumba rock? / Also one of my fav bands when I was a child (xD)

1985 pop rock/ From summer camps

XDDDD

2001 Pop Ballad/ He has a lot of haters, but I like his songs

A pop-punk/pop-rock band, this song was the for an stupid spanish TV series, so I listened to it a lot of times XD

1990 rock ballad/ One of the most famous songs in catalonia, the singer died in 1999 during a concert because of a heart attack (they say)

Lax'n Busto: / / (= Touch my balls Maria xD)
Rock from catalonia

Sopa de cabra: / /
Rock from catalonia

(Yes most of the songs are ballads, these are the songs we used to sing in summer camps at night seated around the fire xDDD)

mmmmm I hope somebody will like at least 1? XD
