We will welcome Yoshiki from X Japan as a special guest
to give a personal message to Los Angeles
To convey our heartfelt gratitude for the support we received after the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and tsunami, the Consulate-General of Japan in Los Angeles and Japan Business Association of Southern California will hold a public appreciation event -- "Japan. Endless Discovery." -- on March 10, 2012.

Anyone else feel hardly interested or sympathetic at all? I mean, yes today is the one year anniversary of the tragedies in Japan, however, this is just another one of Yoshiki's fluff events where he speaks in front of squealing fans with broken Engrish and takes a couple press photo's with peace signs and then vanishes into the night for another month or two. I can't believe I am starting to shut myself off to Yoshiki...but his actions since the "world tours" have been a disgrace. We are now nearly half way through March and there is not a single word of the world tour or the new album.

He's raised millions of dollars for earthquake relief through his foundation, I'd hardly call that fluff.

in the other hand it may be that he is obliged to be on this all gigs just because he's famous and people invite him
But after all there is no excuse for that behavior, I mean problems with album

As long as these 'fluff events' help somebody, I'm glad he joins them. He's famous, and such people like him are able to draw more attention to global problems.
I can wait for the new album much longer, I think.
Thanx for the pix, btw ^^

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. (c)

Whatever, I'm just getting tired of the blind followers on this slowly decaying forum. @Goskins, I think "millions" may be wishful thinking...Yoshiki Foundation site states just under $200,000. I realize his site is not the only source, however, I still doubt he has raised millions. In any case, it's not about how much he has or has not raised, it's just lately, Yoshiki is not showing us any progress in the things we want as fans, and that is bad. World tour, album, and Yoshiki Radio are all missing in action. And by "fluff", I mean all these red carpet and social events. Sure, people of his status do those things, but lately that is ALL he doing. Even his tweets besides the one a week or two ago are all BORRRING.

Fully agreed. Yoshiki is the laziest and biggest superstar ego on the world.

Feudal and Joker unfortunately I have to agree there... He's putting so much time to get himself out there as a 'personality' like a Bono from Japan, but there's so much he could be doing for his band, the thing that got him to where he is now.

For a while I thought maybe he's putting himself out there to try and get more exposure for X Japan but instead he's appearing in Tenacious D videos as cameo. I don't even think at this point X Japan is relevant for him. He should move on to Violet UK, or even putting music out as a solo artist with his own name. That way he can focus on himself, put out as many retreads of "The Last Song" as he wants, fashion shows and so on. It's unfortunate but it seems to be that way.

As long as these 'fluff events' help somebody, I'm glad he joins them. He's famous, and such people like him are able to draw more attention to global problems.

Ok, I agree in one sense, but at the same time, there are so many 'personalities', famous people, musicians or actors, who go out there and raise money and do humanitarian aid without cameras around, spotlight with cameras, signing autographs and so on. I know Toshi doesn't have the same exposure/attention overseas as Yoshiki does but in the situation of the earthquake, he just stayed in his neighbourhood doing shows for his own people to try to give them some personal support. I think thats much more important than having a "media event"

Tell me that's not true, Tenacious D are one of my favourite bands, keep yoshiki far away from it.
