Toshi's Assasination.
« on: February 16, 2010, 07:29:48 AM »
So I'm wondering, would this even be legal today? Like for example when Dimebag Darrell was killed there were people just standing around for a little bit because they thought it was just part of the show. Also, in a stadium full of people, wouldn't some of them panic running out because it look like there's a sniper inside?

But what I'm really wondering is what was the point of this? My interpretation was that the Toshi with crazy hair was killed and replaced with the Toshi with normal hair.

If you ask me, the assasination is symbolic for the transition from X to X Japan.

Can someone explain to me what this is about? :D
I haven't seen the X Japan Returns lives so I don't know about this.

@Ulquiorra: Me too. I thought Masaya put out a hit on Toshi or something.

Please be careful with the choice of titles!!!  ;D
I was realy frightend when I saw this title.

I have the dvd. It is simply symbolic I think. Transformation of Toshi with hair that was designed by Taiji into Toshi with his normal long hair. First concert with Heath I think.

When I first watched it, I was wondering if the people in the audience may have thought it real...but it was pretty obvious that it was staged right? I mean...with the spotlight on him and his arms slowly rising, it would be too perfect if it was real. So maybe it could still be done today, as long as it is, like this one, obvious that it is staged.

Okay, I'm going to be the dim one here.

I tried to ignore this post because I didn't want to go and try and find this ToshI (note use of capital "I"!!!) transformation.  Takes too long.  However, I'm now really curious.  Could someone tell me where to find this?  X Returns = 1993 (30 Dec and 31 Dec) at Tokyo Dome?  If so, I have them on DVD.  No problem.  If so, between what songs?  If not, where????

I'm just the curious type which drives me mad ;D

DVD X returns 1993: 30 Dec: during song Weekend, during guitar solo ToshI disapears a little and then he comes back with other clothes (in white), and than at the end of that song, he 'kills' himself.
You see him back in song Art of Life with his blond long hair (what I call his 'Tarzan look'  ;D

Yeah, I agree it does look very staged, when his arms are rising you know something is about to happen.

Well, thank you everybody.  You know, I never noticed it.  How can that be?  Perhaps 2 things.  One, Weekend is not my favourite song (although I like it more now than I did originally after seeing them perform it) and, secondly, I don't like Heath's solo that follows (I do like Heath though!) so perhaps I wasn't playing much attention at that time.  That said, I've watched this a lot so I don't know what's wrong with me!

I must say, hide looks SO good during those concerts.  I love that dark make-up around his eyes.

Thanks again everybody.  My curiosity has been sated! ;)

The scene on that stage reminds me of the Week End PV, in which all the members except Toshi are killed in different ways. And I guess that's why he chose the song Week End to stage this dramatic change, just like a sequel of that PV... And I agree it looks staged, too.

I don't blame you, because between the shooting and when he appears again in Art of Life, there's around an hour of bullshitting around.

lol The title to this thread never ceases to scare me!!!!

Anyway, I think that it was because ToshI didn't die in the PV,
and also because the hair was styled by Taiji. I think that they
weren't allowed to continue to do that after he left.
Since they stopped performing ALL of his songs too.
Also, yes, it is very staged, but that is the appeal for me! ;D

Over all it was a great two-day concert!
Wish they could perform AoL like that again!!!! ;D

Let's face it......those were the good ol' times, where Yoshiki could perform an almost 4 hour lenght gig without passing out D:

Oh yeaaah, revieving this thread to scare people with the thread name!! :P

No, actually I saw Returns for the first time yesterday (yes, I know, shame on me) and the shoting down Toshi part really looks quite corny. :P
However, I also guess that it's just a simple X -> X JAPAN symbolism - in the typical kind of overdramatic X way...  ;D

Haha, from what I remember of that concert, there were quite a few songs played from Jealousy. I think those songs (like Joker etc.) are very...early 90s style, as well as the "shooting scene"...i.e. all very corny XD

Yeah, I had to think of that, too!! I thought it was just part of recreating the PV XD

Meh, honestly, if you have hair like that (and I do, as you all know XDD) you only have to get in the shower, wash it all out, and just blowdry it until it's back to normal. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes :P But yeah, X loves to over-exaggerate and make things loooooooooonnnnnnnnngggggggggggggg as usual.

(I re-discovered this topic thanks to asu and was all like WATTTTTTTTTT XD)
